Setting the Basic Document Settings

I have recently upgraded to InDesign CS4 and have run into a problem. When I create a new text box, it will have an automatic setting to use Times. I never use that font. How can I change that setting to always start with another font?
I figured out how to change the measurment units to always start with Inches and not Picas, but can't find any help on how to change the settings of the text.
Can anyone fill me in?

Hi,
Try saving your settings as a Preset by clicking the Preset drop down and then select Save Current Settings as a Preset.
Next try changing the settings by selecting the saved preset.
That allow saving the settings for a specific printer, I assume it may also allow selecting these settings for another printer.

Hi Arti!
You can default user settings in a PFCG role, in the "personalization" tab.
If you have a PFCG role that is common to all your users, you can set the default values here.
However it does not prevent them to change these settings later, except if you modify the "user settings" fields properties in cProjects application.

Hi,
This has something to do with the payment terms of the invoice. When credit memos are created with reference to an invoice, there is a pattern of behaviour on how the field is updated. Similarly when the same is created without reference, the behaviour of this field is dfiferent.
Look at the note 17410, it explains when is the field updated with V.
As per this, when a credit memo is created with reference to an invoice, the invoice number is updated in this field and the payment term of the invoice will become the payment term of the credit memo also
When CM. is created without invoice reference, it is updated with teh value V along with the payment terms in BSEG. In this case the credit memo is always due on the baseline date.

Error when setting the Temporary Storage settings of DTP

I am trying to set the temporary storage settings for DTP.But the moment i click on the temporary storage settings, it gives an ABAP Short Dump with the following message

Doesn't sound like it. It sounds like you're being logged-off.
Does your Mac go through the complete Restart cycle -- black screen, gray and/or blue screen momentarily, startup chime, etc?
If you're not sure, do a Restart just to watch the process; the next time the problem occurs, see if it's the same.
You need to know which it is, as these will have very different causes, and different places to look for a solution.

Set the orgin document on a Journal Entry

I don't see this exposed in the DI has anyone been able to set the orgin document on a Journal Entry (baseref field)

...when you go to the database documentation in SDK Help Center you will find all "valid values" - if any - for the fields.
For BaseRef you should IMHO only find other "Marketing Documents" listed - and only the reference to the last referenced (remember that e.g. you can have multiple Delivery Notes for a single Sales Order).
I never heard that Journal Entries could be actively linked to "Marketing Documents" - it works just "vice versa":
When you post an A/R Invoice this will automatically generate a Journal Entry and link it to the Invoice - but via the field JrnlMemo - not BaseRef!
However, you could add a UDF to fill in such information if you need it.

AS CS3 - Setting the EPS Import Settings

I am trying to create an applescript that sets a whole series of preferences in Indesign CS3 so I can quickly and easily synchronize my studio with the same settings.
It had been going well until I was stumped by the EPS Import Settings of which I want to have clipping paths applied and I want to rasterize the postscript for the proxy.
I have tried something like this:
tell the EPS import preference properties
set EPS frames to true
set the EPS proxy to "Rasterise the Postscript"
end tell
Of course I am failing big time somewhere, any help would be greatly appreciated.

How do I set the power-up settings in FieldPoint for an FP-TC-120 on an FP-1000 interface?

Each time my computer reboots I find the channels on the FP-TC-120 read in what appears to be voltage (i.e. ~.0000561) even though FP Explorer shows the channels configured as -270 to 1770 Cel. I find I have to Edit each FP-TC-120 module at which point I get "The attribute, range or powerup values do not match the current file settings. Which would you like to use?" When I click the File button and then Accept the channels start reading in degrees once again.
I tried the Snapshot and Powerup state saving directives but I do not get the factory configuration checkbox nor the Snapshot button.

You need to right-click on the FP-1000 and choose Edit This Device. You will then have a checkbox in the middle right portion of the window called Factory Configuration. Un-check it. At this point, every time the FP-1000 is re-powered, it will configure all IO modules with the "User" configuration, rather than the factory default configuration. Note: You must do these steps while the FP-1000 is connected to the computer and powered on.

How do I set the about:config settings for all users? iprism keeps prompting from authentication for users.

When users log on and try to open Firefox 23.0.1, users are prompted with Iprism Authentication. We made changes to the firefox about:config values "network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow.-non-fqdn" and "Network.negotiate-auth.allow-non-fqdn" to true and it works, but only works on a per user basis. How can we set this up for all users?

I would think the about:config entries discussed are ex-factory set to values each user has to change individually, after the installation has run its course. The solution could be to have patched files ready to install post factum:

What are the basic sync settings for ical

I was successful in having my icloud mail account sync with my windows phone, the nokia lumia 800, and this works beautifully. found the settings necessary to make it work. I wonder if there is a place to find settings for ical such as webdav or such other thing so that I can arrive at the same result with ical updating and syncing with the lumia 800. it has to be possible!!

Welcome to the forum.
The good news is that if you have PrPro CS 6, you do not need to gather all the full specs. of your footage for the creation of a Sequence. Just Import the Clips, grab the first one, and drag it to the New Icon, at the bottom of your Project Panel.
To find the full specs., just so that you will know, you can also download and install MeidaInfo (PC), or Media Inspector (Mac).

Default Document Type (DTD): HTML 4.01 Transitional
Default Encoding: Unicode (UTF-8)
I check the: Use when opening existing files that don't specify an encoding
Unicode Normalization Form: Gives me 4 choices
C (Canonical Decomposition, followed by Conical Composition)
D (Canonical Decomposition)
KC (Compatibility Decomposition, followed by Conical Composition
KD (Compatibility Decomposition)
Not sure of which one to choose? Need help here...

There's no reason to use BOM Unicode Signature in plain HTML documents.
It's actually better if you don't specify this.

Define your site. Go to Site > New Site or Manage Sites > tell DW where your local site files are located on your hard drive.
Under Advanced Settings > Local Info, use Links Relative to Document. Save your site definition settings.
Now when you create a new document & save it, DW will manage your file assets and paths relative to the document and not the site root folder.
