Setting the Netlet port on Portal Server 6.0

On Iplanet Portal server 3.0 we found that our firewall was blocking netlet access on 443 as the firewall does application checking. On 3.0 we set the https port to 443 (default) and changed the netlet port to xx443 to allow the firewall to pass the netlets. On POrtal 6.0 the option to set the netlet port is not there. Is it possible to have the netlet's run on a port other than the https port? We have the https port set to xx443 but when users are behind another firewall that does not allow non-standard ports out they cannot use the portal. Under our 3.0 config they can use everything except the netlets. Under 6.0 they can't get to the portal at all.

What do you want to do with this data source? Display it in a channel? If that is the case you will have to write your own provider to connect to Oracle.

  • How to set the debug port for Eclipse for OracleAS 10g Enterprise

    Hello All,
    I am using OracleAS 10g Enterprise, and using dcmctl to startup the server.
    But i do not know how to set the debug port in the startup script for debugging with Eclipse.
    I have tried to add the following options to the dcmctl.bat, but still failed:
    -Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=y,address=4000
    i.e in the dcmctl.bat script:
    set jvmargs=-Xdebug -Xnoagent -Xrunjdwp:transport=dt_socket,server=y,suspend=y,address=4000
    set ex=%ohome%\jdk\bin\java -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true %jvmargs%
    Do anyone know how to configure the debug port setting?
    Thank you for your great help!.

    Hi, have you double checked that your oc4j is started with Sun's JVM or any other JVM that recognizes the kind of remote debug option as above? You can find the JVM used by oc4j in the ORACL_HOME/opmn/conf/opmn.xml.
    To double check that your oc4j is started in debug mode, you can test with another remote debugger. Say, with the jdb in sun's jdk jdb -connect com.sun.jdi.SocketAttach:hostname=yourHost,port=4000 (Personally, I also use Jdeveloper or Jswat to double check.) If you can connect with jdb, then you have to check your Eclipse. Can its remote debugger connect to any java application at all?

    I bought a Air Port Express device from Apple yesterday.  We decided to set the Air port device in a room near the router to use as a wifi extender to areas of the house where the signal is weak.  In our discussion with Josh, the Apple Rep.  he explained how it can either be connector to the router or use in another room relying on the existing wifi signal to extend it further into the house.  We have verizon DSL.  Our town is very small...no cable provided so we are lucky to have what we have...some areas of our town can't even get what we have.  We, didn't want to connect it directly to the Verizon device (router)....we followed the directions from Josh as well as the explicit directions provided by Apple support...it didn't work. We keep getting an error message.  Does anyone have any advice ?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Please speak in "Laymen's terms"  I am not technically savy....but..am determined to get this set up.  Thanks to anyone, in advance!
    Signed,
    MEAbeep

    In our discussion with Josh, the Apple Rep.  he explained how it can either be connector to the router or use in another room relying on the existing wifi signal to extend it further into the house.
    Unfortunately, it appears that Josh was not aware that the AirPort Express can only "extend" a wireless signal from another Apple router.
    From Apple's literature:
    Extend an existing Wi-Fi network’s range.
    If you already have a wireless network in your home and want to extend its range, AirPort Express can help. Just place it in range of your primary base station — an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, or another AirPort Express — and near the area where you want your wireless connection. Launch the easy-to-use AirPort Utility app on your iOS device or Mac, and you’re mere minutes away from long-range Wi-Fi enjoyment.
    The AirPort Express is not compatible with a Verizon product for this purpose.
    Your might want to have another conversation with Josh to ask his advice on how best to proceed at this point.
    If you do decide to keep the AirPort Express, it will be necessary to connect it to your Verizon router using a wired Ethernet cable connection if you want the Express to provide more wireless signal coverage.

  • Setting the smpt port out wil .mac mail

    Maybe I'm not getting this, but I want to set the send mail port on my iPhone that is using my .mac account. I looked at the instructions for doing this and go to Setting -> Mail, but I cannot find where to put in the smtp.mac.com:258 or whatever port I'm using. Can some one walk me through where I put this in?
    Or do I set up the .mac mail as an "Other" mail account?

    Actually, I do need to set my smtp, as my ISP provider will only allow mail out on a specific port, and the .mac preference does not include that port.

  • How to set the expiration date in content server

    Hi all,
    I wish to set the expiration date as 3 years later the current date. I have current Date in DocCreateDate but I am not able to set it as DocCreateDate + 3 years.
    Can anyone tell me how to set it?
    Any help appreciated..
    Thanks

    You will need to use an idocscript function, most likely in a global rule.
    One option could be dateCurrent, which can take a number of days to move it forward or back. See http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10726/c08_config_ref.htm#i1053616

  • New to portal: Setting the column width in portal QBE report

    I'm trying to set different widths to different columns in the QBE report. One of the columns in the report contains long descriptive text. With the default column width the reports runs into many pages and user has to scroll a lot. I would like to set the column width for this column so that it does not wrap for every 2/3 words. In the customization tab, I'm setting the width type to "Char" and selecting the number of characters to be displayed in that coulmn. Percent/pixel width type also didn't help. Should I set the Header width also?. I'm not sure where to set this header column width.QBE report just ignores these customization parameters and displays the report in default format. Please let me know if you have any idea/solution to this problem.

  • How to set the snc name to abap server with IDM?

    HI all:
         I want to set the snc name from IDM , but I didn't konw  which attribute that I would be set.
    I there anyone konw this?
    thanks!

    Hi Shi,
    I'm guessing you don't know which attribute in the MX_PERSON class contains it?
    If this is what you meant, then there isn't a default attribute for that, you can either create one manually or let the synch process create it by enabling "automatic attribute creation" setting for the Identity Store.

  • How to set the debug port for Eclipse for OracleAS 10g Enterprise Server

  • How do I set the mailhost attribute in Messaging Server 3.5?

    <B>Intent of the hostname aliases feature: </B><BR>
    In Messaging Server 3.5, the hostname aliases feature is designed to facilitate migrating and co-hosting. For
    instance, if you set up all of your sales and marketing users on one Messaging Server, but suspect that you'll
    want to split those groups in the future, you can give the sales users the mailhost value sales.company.com and
    the marketing users the mailhost value mktg.company.com. This feature can also be used for fast failover if
    you want to be able to move a group of users quickly from one Messaging Server to another.
    <P>
    <B>How to use hostname aliases and how to set mailhost and MessageHostName settings: </B><BR>
    Each user's mailhost attribute can have only one value. All users on a single Messaging Server do not need to
    have the same mailhost value in the LDAP directory. The user's mailhost value should match one of the
    MessageHostName attribute values in netscape.mail.conf. (On Unix, the path to this file is
    /etc/netscape.mail.conf. Windows NT users must use Notepad to create this file in
    server-root\bin\mail\Server\etc, where server-root is the base directory where your SuiteSpot servers are
    installed.)
    <P>
    With Messaging Server 3.5 and later, MessageHostName can have multiple values. Think of hostnames as
    colors. Each mail account in the LDAP server has a single color. Each Messaging Server has one or more
    colors. A Messaging Server will check an LDAP account's color (mailhost) against its own color(s)
    (MessageHostName), and if they match, the server considers the account to be local. <P>
    For example: <BR>
    MessageHostName=red.company.com,green.company.com,blue.company.com
    <BR>where original-host-name is the machine's real name. This entry must come first as the server uses the first
    entry to generate machine specific postmaster forms. The subsequent host names can be any values that you
    wish separated by commas that are inside the brackets. Do not place spaces anywhere on the line.
    <P>
    In this example, if the mailhost setting for the user is set for either red.company.com or green.company.com, or
    blue.company.com, the server will consider the user to be local. (Hostname aliases must also be configured in
    DNS. Please see the DNS section at the end of this technote.) No other Messaging Server should list either
    red.company.com or green.company.com or blue.company.com in the MessageHostName field. Mail could
    not be delivered properly if either red.company.com or green.company.com or blue.company.com were listed
    in any other server's MessageHostName field. A user with a mailhost setting of violet.company.com would not
    be considered local to this machine.
    <P>
    Although it is possible with Messaging Server 3.52 to list more than 16 different host names in the
    MessageHostName field, it is not recommended because increasing the number of hostnames in this field beyond
    16 will have a negative impact on performance. This feature is intended to provide fast failover and/or
    migration of users. If users need to be divided up into many smaller groups, the use of some other LDAP
    attribute is recommended.
    <P>
    In Messaging Server 3.0, you can associate a server with only one host name. Consequently, all mail accounts
    on a given server must have the same mailhost value in the LDAP directory. This should be the name of the
    server, i.e. host.company.com
    <P>
    </A>A note about DNS
    Hostname aliases must be configured in DNS. This is done with a CNAME record. For example:
    A 128.101.101.101
    CNAME
    <P>
    Additional MX records are not required to use hostname aliases.
    <P>
    If you aren't sure about how to configure your DNS records, consult the book <I>DNS and Bind </I> by Paul Albitz and
    Cricket Liu.

  • Setting the default port

    Can I change Coldfusions default port form 80 to 110 and if so how? I have CF running on a windows server 2008 RT machine.

    Hello Techwomantoo,
    I am not sure if you are looking for this one, but you can refer to http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ColdFusion/9.0/Installing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e0811cdec18c28 -7ffc.html to change the built-in port.
    Please let us know, if this doesn't help.
    Regards,
    Anit Kumar

  • When setting the midi port for an external device, how do I stop this altering the port setting for a separate external device?

    I am using Logic Pro 9.1.7.
    I have an EMU sampler set to port D.
    And a Roland JV 2080 set to port B.
    The ports refer to an external M-Audio Midisport midi interface.
    When creating a new track (brand new, not as a duplicate of another) for sounds from the Roland and setting port B in the Inspector, I find this affects certain existing tracks set to port D that are using sounds from the EMU.  The latter tracks are converted to port B.  I note that only some, not all, tracks are affected.
    If I try to change the EMU tracks back to port D, then the Roland track also switches to port D!  And so on...
    Each device has a 16-channel "instrument" in the Environment (but no virtual wiring anywhere).
    Usually, setting channels, banks and programs in the Event List for each track has been able to make things work reasonably well.
    Any suggestions that I could explore would be welcome.  Thanks.

    I haven't checked this with instrument tracks, could it possibly be you have somehow de-selected Universal Track Mode in Preferences/Audio?  It should be enabled.

  • Why do we need a portal server, why can't an application server do the same job?

    what is the need of a portal server?
    why can't the same work be done by an application server alone?
    what is are the features of portal server which make it more attractive rather than an application server?

    What Portal provides is
    authentication
    authorization,
    user management,
    security ( SRAP),
    content presentation frame work ( URL Scraper provider, RSS provider and JSP provider )
    dynamic vpn ( through netlets you can integrate any tcp based network application )
    Wireless portal :-),
    and a variety of other features ..
    I don't believe app server provides all these features. Requirements of these features necessitates a portal market which the portal server addresses.
