Setting the poster frame/image in CS5

Hello,
I am not sure if the title is even the correct term - so my aplogies. I have a video I edited in Premiere Pro CS5. When I put the video on an iPad the image thumbnail for the video is a picture from 10 seconds into the video. I would like to change it so that the thumbnail that I see on an iPad is the image from 7 seconds into the video. Is my terminology correct and how can I do this?

This is how the embed code is installed in HTML on my webpage. The Poster Frame image will not display when browsing the website in iPhone nor will the image display on the cached 8 image browser window in Google Chrome internet browser. Is there a way to include the poster frame or JPEG image in the embed code?

Setting the Poster Frame

I'm editing videos in FCPX then sharing them directly from FCPX to Vimeo or You Tube. This is a great feature but I'd like to be able to set the poster frame before it leaves FCPX.
Anyone know if this is possible?

You can't. This isn't a function of the editing system, but of the application that builds the web page. It has to be set on there. Vimeo lets you set the poster frame.

How Set Video Poster Frame (Image) for Intro Media?

How can the Poster Frame (aka, Poster Image) for the Intro Media segment of an iba video be set?
Irrespective of anything I do with the Widget Inspector...such as attempting to move the Poster Frame to a frame at the desired ~7 second point (in a ~10 second clip)...iBA keeps resetting the Poster Frame to ~2.5 seconds (not wanted).
Very, very frustrating...suggestions?

I want to set custom poster frames in FCP and have them remain as the set poster frames in the mov clips that I export so I don't have to open the individual clips in QuickTime and re-set the poster frames from there.

Apparently the low-resolution preview that InDesign creates on first placing the PDF does not store a transparent background. If I recall correctly, this is also visible in the UI.
If you don't have access to the original image, you don't have access to its transparent bits, so you have to think of something else. Would it be enough to treat all white pixels as transparent?

How to set movie poster frame in final cut pro x

Need some help on the following.
Objective-using QT 7 or later, Current Compressor, FCP X or any other video editing tool, export a mp4 movie that displays a "poster frame" when the movie is inserted into iBook Author. When started by the user, the movie would begin to play from the first frame of the movie (not the poster frame).

This sounds like a question for the iBooks Author forum. I think you set the poster frame in that application. How you make the video behave in the iBook is controlled in that application not in the editing application.

Missing Art and "Set Poster Frame" Images

Has anyone come across this yet? I have a very large library and since upgrading to iTunes8, well over 75% of the artwork or 'Set Poster Frame' images either have been found or I have created over the years does not show up in any of the iTunes view in the main window. All of the art is located in the correct "Album Artwork" folder. To make matters more confusing, it seems to be random as far as what files are effected. So it does not matter if it has been media that I have loaded in or something I have purchased from the iTunes Store. And to make matters more annoying, ALL the art work shows up in the "Now Playing" window. I have run the "Get Album Artwork" a couple of times to see if that would help but it has not. I have also randomly played various songs or movies to see it that would help iTunes find the art. That doesn't work either. Any Ideas?

I'm working on Twilight Zone right now. I'd like to have a different image for each episode: the broken glasses from "Time Enough at Last", or the gigantic alien from "To Serve Man"; i.e., an image that will reflect the content of THAT episode. Then, for the grid view, where you simply see the show names of all the shows you have (TZ Season 1, Season 2, etc.), I'd like the generalized 'box cover' image to display. I've tried right-clicking on the SHOW in the grid view, and then pasting an image into the "Artwork" box on the Info tab. I've then used the "Set Poster Frame" function (as outlined in the help section you cited in your reply) to choose a specific image from a specific episode. But iTunes won't retain my choices - it either shows the box cover image for all the episodes, or show the 'Poster Frame' from whichever episode I happened to first perform that function on. In this project, it's not working.

I've seen weirdness on this one myself. Usually changing the poster frame by a frame or two clears it up.
I've actually gotten into the habit of setting my poster frames before I make the chapter links. That way it always works.

How do I select the Poster Frame when exporting to video?

I cannot find how to select the frame that I want to appear as the Poster Frame in the exported video.
I can select it I can change one by right clicking an imported video OK but not the sequence!
I've been through every menu I can find & even Lynda.com training!

There are two common meanings for the phrase "poster frame":
A standalone image on disk (JPG etc) which is displayed by a player before the video is loaded - commonly used by video player apps on websites (YouTube etc), InDesign and PDF files, etc. so the video asset doesn't have to be opened in order for the viewer to see what they're about to watch - although the image is normally captured from the video it doesn't have to be.
An image resource embedded into the XMP/ID3 data of a video or audio file which can sometimes be shown in the player, but is normally set because it appears as the thumbnail image when viewing the files in Finder or Windows Explorer. It's not part of the content stream, it's in the file header. In MP3 files it's used to store album artwork.
You can create standalone JPEG images from PP using the camera icon below the monitor and can semi-automate the export of a still image alongside your video using presets in Adobe Media Encoder, but there's no option in PP (or via Adobe Media Encoder) to specify the embedded poster image in a rendered media file. Several third-party apps can do it, either during render (Compressor / Squeeze) or after the fact (Quicktime Pro), but support for these embedded resources depends on the wrapper for the video file.
The ability to set a 'poster frame' in the clip bins in PP is solely there to help you organize your project assets visually - for example if the imported footage starts from black, or if you want to choose a frame where the slate is visible - but your choice has no effect on the sequences at export and isn't written back into the original footage.

Setting the desktop background image via Powershell

I have Bing'ed and I have Google'd and I haven't found a solid answer to setting the desktop wallpaper programmically. I am trying to do this via PowerShell, but I would be happy for any other language flavor or application to work.
Below is the code I have tried to set the desktop background image. This has been scrounged from a few sources across the web. This solution works 25% of the time and I haven't figured out what the cause for success or failure of the execution. Or maybe
it's neither, but waiting for Explorer to refresh. The only way to see the change 100% is to log out and log back in.
I am running Windows 8.1 btw.

This solution has worked for me 100% of the time on Windows 8. The only gotcha I found (minor detail) was when setting this process to run as a scheduled task, I had to run it as elevated privileges for the code to compile in memory. Running this function
from PowerShell at the command prompt was fine.

How do I set the default Hero image in a Muse slideshow widget when using Free Form Thumbnails?

Hello,
I am trying to find out how to set the default Hero image when using a Muse slideshow widget and in the Layout section I have the "Free Form Thumbnails"
box checked.
In other words, when the page loads I want to define which image displays as the first Hero image.
If I do not select the "Free Form Thumbnails" option, the top left Thumbnail image always displays first. This is fine.
But when I select the Free Form Thumbnails" checkbox I don't know how to define which image shows first as the Hero image.

Okay… I think I've worked out how to do it!
[1] First have the "Free Form Thumbnails" box UNCHECKED.
[2] Organize the Thumbnails and place the image that you want to be the first Hero image when the page loads in the top left corner of the Thumbnails group.
[3] When you "Preview Site In Browser" the Thumbnail image in the top left corner will always display as the first Hero image.
[4] If you want "Free Form Thumbnails" go ahead now and SELECT that checkbox.
[5] Whichever image was in the top left of the Thumbnail group before you checked "Free Form Thumbnails" will still show up as the first Hero image when the page loads, regardless of where that thumbnail image is located within the Thumbnail images group.

Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.

After publishing I can no longer see the poster frame on QuickTime

I cant figure out why after publishing to the web (MobileMe), I can no longer see the poster frame on the QuickTime movie that I made. When I publishing to a folder on the mac to check my results I can see the poster frame, so it is only happening when i am publishing to the web. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or have a solution?

You cannot delete this icon as its preinstalled on the iPhone. You may have inadvertently moved it to another page or into a folder. I would suggest you look on all the pages and in all folders or alternatively do a search on your iPhone. It will at least tell you if they are still there but unfortunately not where. You could also do a home screen layout reset settings>general>reset>reset home screen layout.

How do i set the time frame of a waveform chart programmatically to be a 30 sec window or a 24 hour window

i'm using LV7.0 and what i need to do is to be able to set the time frame or range of a waveform chart programmatically before i start taking and plotting data. sometimes this window needs to be 30s wide and sometimes it needs to be 24 hrs wide. (in the first reference, i need the chart to fill up with 30s of historical data then the whole chart scrolls with each new data point). the data acquisition records data at a rate of once per second. i've tried to use the chart properties of XScale.offset, XScale.Range.Minimum and XScale.Range.Maximum but no matter what i do the time-stamp on the x-axis is always "00:00:00 PM" and "MM/DD/YYYY" even though values are seen being plotted on the right side of the chart as expected.

Okay, there seems to be some confusion here -- the X axis values are of type double, but they can be represented in the HH:MMS MMD:YYYY format if you want in which case it interprets the floating point as the number of seconds since 6pm Dec 31, 1903.
You can programmatically set this value using the XScale.Minimum and XScale.Maximum properties, but note that if you wire a waveform to the chart after setting these values the t0 parameter will override what you set using the property node for XScale.Minimum. If instead you leave the t0 parameter empty you can use the XScale.Offset property and wire the same value in that you wire to XScale.Minimum. Changing the amount you add to XScale.Minmum to obtain what you wire into XScale.Maximum will determine the time window size.

To upload a video to Vimeo, I need to be able to set the codec, frame rate, bit rate and resolution to make sure the file is compressed to under 500 MB. Where in iMovie 10.0.5 am I given the option to adjust these settings?

Another question is in continuous mode, NI DAQmx uses Samples per channel to determine the buffer size. But according to the website you specified, it says if the acquisition is continuous (sample mode on the DAQmx Timing.vi is set to Continuous Samples), NI-DAQmx will allocate a buffer according to the following table. And for sample rate between 100 - 10,000 S/s, the buffer size is 10 kS. So if I set the sample rate to be 5000 S/s, and set the Samples per channel to be 20000, then what exactly the buffer size is? 20 kS or 10 kS?
