Setting the recording area

Captivate v5.5
This is most likely a dumb question - so I apologise in advance. I also hope I can explain myself clearly.
The majority of my captivate projects are based on our web based tracking system which means I record onto the slides the majority of what I see on my monitor. I need to record what is inside the red square below, which as you can see is almost everything with the exception of Firefox menu bars at the top and my task bar at the bottom.
How do I start off a new project in Captivate (v5.5) and set the recording area for all slides so it will cover the exact area I want to record (as above) ?
Do I measure the area on the screen and then set the project size to be the same as the recording area? If so, how do you measure the recording area accurately as a ruler on the screen really is not very scientific.
I recall in v4 or maybe v3, you could drag Captivate's the red recording box to fit the area - but I cannt see this option in v5.5

While I see you managed to "get there in the end", perhaps the following will help?
When you begin to record, you can tell Captivate to record at a specific size. But your goal is to set the browser such that the client area is always at the consistent size, no?
So try these steps.
Open the browser.
Use Captivate's ability to Snap the Application window to a specific Custom size.
Now that you have the outer browser window sized, change the recording settings so they snap to Application Region. That should allow you to get the area you desire. Note that you may need to adjust the right edge if your goal is to avoid capturing the scroll bar area.
Alternatively, you can use a small freeware application called Sizer to assist in placing and sizing the window for you.

Here in the if block I need compare whether all the records in the list are processed and there is no more records to process ,
if so write all the error details at once by calling the writeErrorDetails in the .TXT file.
The problem here is, how i will know whether the all the records are processed from the custList, so that I can write all of then atonce.
If the If conditional block is not there, then for each record failure a separate .txt file will be created. Hence if there are 4 failed records
then 4 .txt error file will be generated. Which should be avoided and i want to write all the 4 failed records in a single .txt file.
Hence, what may be the If condition i need to check from the list whether all the records are processed. Please , let me know your opinion.

Problems setting the recording path

I have recorded hundreds of songs successfully by setting the recording path to the project folders on my external hard drive. Now whenever I open a new project and go to record an audio file it ask me every time to set the recording path. I pick the location on my external, click save and then hit the record button and then the whole process starts all over.

does your drive has a Sleep mode (or something like that) preference?that's after a certain time of inactivity...goes to sleep

Numbers does not have the 'Set Print Area' feature. Numbers is designed around several tables, each with a purpose. For example, Input Table, Big Database, Intermediate Calculations Table (all of which you may not need to print) and a final Summary (Presentation) Table that you may wish to print. The Summary Table can be on its own Sheet. Arrange objects (Summary Table, Charts [graphs] and whatever) on one Sheet and print only that Sheet.

Error: Setting the record status to 'NEW' after assigning a value

Hi everyone,
The user name is assigned programatically( like an Initial value) to a field in When New Form Instance and the record status is set back to NEW STATUS using set_record_property.
The value is seen in the field and the moment you enter into any of the fields in the form the value disapears. when you key in something and do a 'clear_form' you get a message 'You cannot create records here'.
Almost a similar problem with QUERY_STATUS for the records queried.
Can anyone help me out to overcome this problem?

Hi,
I think I went through similar problems some time ago.
Be careful with FORM STATUS (Query or Normal Mode) and RECORD STATUS (there are 4, as you know).
You cannot create new records in the Query mode. Find some descriptions about Form Status
in your online help.
I too had to think about it some time to understand it =)

Setting the record straight for setting recording levels in Logic

Hey everyone,
I asked a similar question a while back and got some great feedback, but I'm still a little confused about how to set a perfect recording level and work with the fader in Logic. A lot of what I've been doing has been trial and error and I would like to ask a few more specific questions:
I record with a MOTU traveler and have recently, for example, been recording direct with my guitar into the MOTU inputs. I am using "pre-fader metering", which is checked, and I using "software monitoring", which is also checked. When I am watching the fader, what should I be looking for? I always have the fader set at 0.0db. How do I set the perfect level in this situation? Should the fader be hitting red as I record? How do I make sure I don't clip, and what should I be watching for overall? AND, is it all the same process when recording with microphones? I've heard Logic records at a low level with MOTU products, but what exaclty does this mean in terms of setting levels and watching the fader as I record? I have been recording a lot lately and have some good sounding tracks and some that are not so great and I think it has a lot to do with the topic of this post.

the fader position in logic does nothing to affect the recording level. That is totally dependent on the gain setting on your MOTU. The logic fader merely allows you to adjust the level at which you listen to the material you are recording. If you set the gain correctly on your MOTU then you shouldn't see the logic audio object hit the red unless your logic fader is set higher than 0dB. If your logic fader is at 0, and you still see red, then your gain is set too high. Remember, digital distortion is not like analog distortion. Once you have recorded the signal and you are in playback mode, then things change somewhat. The internal headroom of logic allows individual channels to hit the red without causing audible distortion. You should definitely avoid hitting the red on your audio output objects though.
I haven't heard about low levels with MOTU stuff. My own 896 has three settings on the inputs - mic, line and fixed +4dB. If you have variable gain as well, then you should be able to get healthy gain. If your recording level is very low, then recording at 24bit will help a lot towards a more detailed recording, as 16 bit can get grainy if the recorded levels are low.

Records are missing in the File which XI has placed in Target FTP server

Hi All,
I have a scenario where in XI is transfering the files from ECC to Target System . No transformation required here . I am using AAE to run this scenario.
Issue i am facing here is that i can see few records missing in the File which XI had placed in the Target system FTP server . Same file if i check it in archive folder of ECC (which XI has archived after picking the file), complete set of records are present for the same file.
Need your inputs please....
Note : XI is using AAE to transfer the files and no mapping . Also i tried to check out the audit logs in the channel monitoring . Unforutanely i was not able to see the logs to check the bytes that was transferred while readng and writing the file . Sometimes i have faced audit logs issue in PI 7.1

New screens not fitting into set recording area despite setting it to do so

Hello-
I was capturing using Captivate 3.0 in the demonstration and
training modes, and using the Custom Size settings.
I had the recording area set so the screen I wanted captured
would snap to the recording grid, and the recording settings were
such that the new window would be placed in the recording area.
Yet, when the next page came into play in the sim, it's width
bled out of the frame to the right, with everytihng else being
properly constrained.
What is causing this to malfuncton??

Yeah but if they are messing with windows using JavaScript,
it seems the
whole world uses one trick - Full Screen ... which is so
durned annoying on

What I think has happened here, by the way, is that on first
selection of an
application, Captivate selects an area of the screen that
exactly matches
the application window location and size. Subsequent
recording sessions seem
to remember that size and location until you make a new
selection (new
application, or new target option). Make a slight change to
your window size
and tadaaaaa ....
It's my opinion and I'm sticking near it :-)

Database adapter not returning all the records

I've taken over a BPEL from a developer who left the organization and have been having an issue during our User Acceptance Testing. We are querying a table that will return the insurance enrollment information for employee's and their dependants. When an employee change plans, or adds people, the old plan is terminated and a new once is created. When this happens there will be two records on the database to show the old plan and the new plan.
When we run the SQL thru JDEV or SQLDeveloper, the data comes out fine. When we run it through a BPEL Database Adapter we are only getting one of the rows returned.
I have created a small tester BPEL that is easily modified and deployed to run the same query to try multiple configurations changes within the DBAdapter. What I have found is all the records are returned when the "Return single result set" box on the DBAdapter Wizard is unchecked. When it's checked then it only returns one record for the employees with an old and a new plan.
Can someone explain what the "Return single result set" option does, and what the impact will be if it's unchecked?

As we know in Forms we can set the record orientation either Horizontal or Vertical.
I need to take readings of some parameters in regular time intervals. But the time i.e, the measured time will be a user input, which should have the Vertical orientation. The Parameters were populated in Horizontal orientation. These two are two different blocks and the data which should be entered will be related to both the blocks. How it could be achieved?
Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

My requirement is as follows:
A template is associated to each disease. The template is nothing but a group of parameters to be recorded in regular time intervals for a patient. This information is stored in R_INP_TEMP_MASTER (RITM_TEMP_CD primary key).
The Parameter information is stored in R_INP_ATTRIBUTE_MASTER(RIAM_ATTRB_CD primary key).
The patient related template and attribute information is stored in R_INP_PATIENT_TEMP_ATTB.
The above mentioned fields are the foreign keys of R_INP_PATIENT_TEMP_ATTB.
The values of the parameters will be stored in R_PATIENT_ATTRIB_VALUES.
In this RPAV_MEASR_TIME is the Recorded Time, RPAV_ATTRIB_VAL is the Value recorded at the given time.
Now the requirement is as follows. There will be Drop-down box for the List of templates assigned to a Patient. Whenever the value in Drop-down box changes the Attributes related to the selected template should be populated in a Horizontal Non-Database-Block. (I have finished this.).
The user Interface should look like this:

The time will be populated in another Non-Database block with Vertical Orientation. But how the Values block should be related with both the block so that the values will be stored into R_PATIENT_ATTRIB_VALUES.

DB adapter polls all the records regardless of the MaxTransactionSize

Hi All,
I have a requirement that I need to poll only 10 records per minutes from DB2 database, regardless of how many ever records in the database at the time of the polling. I used the DB polling with custom sql, to fetch only first 10 records, as well as MaxTransactionSize set to 10 and PollingInterval to 60 (sec), PollingStrategy as LogicalDeletePollingStrategy. But when I test it out, if I have 100 records in the database, it updated all 100 records with the MarkReadValue and gave me all 100 records. I tried with disabling the SkipLocking as well, but doesn't seem to work. I also tried using the throttling in DB adapter in the composite.xml, but though the composites are showing up one by one based on the throttling time interval, in the database, it updated all the records right away, which is unacceptable as per business logic. Can someone please guide me how I can implement this? Thanks in advance.
Note: I am using SOA 11.1.1.5. In 10.1.3.4, we have implemented this and it is working well, but can't make it to work in 11.1.1.5.

Please Note that MaxRaiseSize property doesn't behave the same in Database Adapter as it does in File Adapter Polling...
MaxTransactionSize = Database Rows Per Transaction
MaxRaiseSize = Database Rows Per XML Document
In Database Adapter, MaxRaiseSize means the maximum number of records it can get in an XML Document...Yes, I do understand that, and that is why since I want one record per each instance, I have MaxRaiseSize set to 1.
in the steps of configuring DB Adapter, you can select the 'Do Synchronous Post to BPEL' option in the 'Operation Type' screen in the adapter configuration wizard. This will generate an empty response message type for output variable. In the BPEL process add the reply activity at the end of the process by selecting output variable and also add the reply activities in the end of catch and catch all blocks in the exception handling.I had done what you have suggested. But I have seen two issue.
1. Although only one instance is being showing up for the first time in EM, in database, all the records are being marked as "Reserved". (which is unacceptable as per the business requirement)
2. Next instances are showing up right after first one is done. (meaning, all the instances are showing up one by one without waiting for the polling interval)
Is this because of the DB2 database? I even tried updating the "PoolingService-or-mappings.xml" file to include the custom sql so that it will exactly fetch first 10 records.
