Setting the zero point to an exact integer

When I set the zero point to an intersection of two guide lines, I often find that it is out by exactly 0.088mm.  How can I set the zero point to an exact number of mm?

There aren't any frames involved.  If the zero point is at the top left corner and I insert horizontal and vertical guides at, say, 10mm in from top and left side, then drag the zero point to the intersection of the two guides, clicking on the two guides reveals that they are now at -0.088 instead of zero.  I accept that 0.088mm is not a huge error, but it still niggles me.

  • Can you flip ruler values around the zero point in CS5?

I prefer the zero point to be in the bottom left corner, but when I set the zero point at that location in CS5 all the Y values on the page are negitive.  Is there a way to flip the vertical ruler values so that the positive values fall on the document I am working on?  In CS 3 I don't have this problem, the values on the page remain positve when the point is at the top or bottom left.
    Thanks!

Movement on a 2D plane (I'm assuming your robot is rolling around on the ground) takes three parameters to specify location and orientation, X, Y, and Heading.  Most mice are designed to give you X and Y, assuming that you maintain a constant heading.  I just tried turning my Logitech mouse, and noticed X and Y moved a lot -- that's because the sensor is eccentric in the mouse, so the rotation got "mapped" into X and Y, but not heading.
You can solve this by using two mice and "doing the math" (may take some experimentation to get the proper constants) to map rotation into mice outputs.  Note that choosing the origin of your robot coordinate system (relative to the "origins" of the mice) is also important.
Finally, the plot you want to make is probably not a "moving cursor" (since I don't know an easy way to make a cursor rotate) but a simple representation of your robot moving around on the screen.  Christian Altenbach recently answered a "math problem" Jeff Bohrer posted where he created such a display (maybe a week ago) -- give him credit for the design if you "borrow" it.

  • How to set the out point beyond 9.95 seconds???

how to set the out point  in Motion 5 beyond 9.95 seconds???

First you need to make sure your project is long enough then you can adjust the play range (in/out). To make sure the project is long enough:
    1. From the project properties (command-J) go to the Duration field and enter a new duration.
    2. Click on the down arrow icon to the right of the current time, there is an option to show the project duration. Once set to this you can double click the number and type in a new project duration. I'd recommend setting it back to show current time when done.
    3. Of course you can also change the duration of a project when it is first created, in the project browser.
Once you're sure you have a long enough project you can adjust the in and out range.  You then use the zoom controls in the bottom of the timeline to show more of the timeline and adjust the play range as needed. There's lots more about project and play range duration adjustments in the documentation: http://help.apple.com/motion/mac/5.1/

  • How do you set the in point of a clip?

I'm using the timeline template that has a number of clips flying by and I need to adjust the in point of the clips. To be clear, I'm NOT trying to adjust the point that the clip appears in the timeline but instead the portion of the clip that will be displayed as it fly's by within the Motion timeline.

All that that seems to do is set the in point of the clip on the Motion timeline. Again, what I am attempting to do is change what is seen on the particular clip that has been dropped into this template. Where the inset clip window appears on the timeline is fine but I want is a later portion of the video within that clip to be shown as it is flying by. As it is now the clip is just beginning to show the footage I want as it is flying out of view.

  • Setting the white point and gamma

I've heard that when calibrating your display you should set the white point and gamma to native. What is the difference between setting the white point at 65k and the gamma at 2.2?
Thanks in advance for your time

The difference would depend on what the native points were to begin with.

Installed Poser Figure Artist a few months ago but to my recollection the Mac HD icon was still around after that. No new drives and this configuration has been stable (which I why I stick with it) for years. No other upgrades or updates (I LIKE to keep it stable!)

  • Need help with setting the entry point for application

    Hi there,
I am kinda new to creating JAR files for application. I checked out the tutorials for creating the jar files, and I understood most of the concepts. There is one part in the tutorial which I still don't understand
    it says:
We want to execute the main method in the class MyClass in the package MyPackage when we run the JAR file.
We first create a text file named Manifest.txt with the following contents:
    Main-Class: MyPackage.MyClass
I am not exactly sure what the package is. Is it the name of the jar file, which I wish to create? Your detailed explanation would certainly be helpful. Thank you in advance.

  • Online rotate a xy graph around the zero point

    Hi,
I want to plot the path of my robot by instaling a bluetooth mouse on it, so when the robot moves, the mouse cursor changes and I can plot the path in labview.
My problem is that while rotating the robot, mouse is rotate too but the cursor is still on the staigth way. my question is that how can I rotate the xy graph online so that i can plot the path by this trick.
    thank you

  • How to set zero point at upper left corner of page

In my document, I have tried to use the "Units & Increments" preference settings to make the upper left corner of my pages be the zero point for the x and y coordinates. But, if I draw a box on the page then type in the coordinates as zero, the center of the box will align with the upper left corner of the page. I need for the upper left corner of the box to align with the upper left corner of the page. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

  • Setting the position of the mouse pointer

    Hi,
I want to explicitly set the mouse pointer to an definded location, e.g. when a window is opened.
Is there a method I can invoke or a work around to set the mouse pointer to, say, posx = 100 and posy = 150?
Are there any other manipulating methods such as pressing the mouse button?
    thanx,
    SirRuberth

    yes.
You can do all that and much more with the java.awt.Robot class
    (new in java 1.3)
    void mouseMove(int x, int y)
Moves mouse pointer to given screen coordinates.
    void mousePress(int buttons)
Presses one or more mouse buttons.
    void mouseRelease(int buttons)
Releases one or more mouse buttons.

  • Flash 8 - zero point for x, y changes in slide screens

When I begin building a slide presentation in Flash 8, the x
and y zero point for the stage is at the top left where I would
expect it to be. So I place a few things on the stage, add a slide
or two and suddenly the zero point is in the center of the stage. I
am not sure when exactly it happens or why. How do I stop this from
happening? How do I correct or set the point back to the top
    left?

Actually our users are complaining that the Flash 10 grayscale antialiasing on device fonts does not look as good
as the Flash 8 style antialiasing.Virtually everyone uses LCD monitors now, and it seems like the Flash 8 color
dithering produce better results on these displays.
It is demonstrated that the Flash 10 player will render device fonts with
different algorithms when it is using AVM1 or AVM2, so what I would like to know is if there is any way to have programmatic control over this
choice in my Flash 10 application, so I can get the Flash 8 style antialiasing, or control other parameters on a device font,  like sharpness, etc.

  • Setting punch-in points

Hey, I know that you can use the auto-drop mode to punch in and out, but this is kind of a pain when I have to click and drag all the time and pre-define my in and out points when I don't know what the out-point will be.
For example, when I'm doing a long take of a guitar passage and i blow it, I want to start re-recording at the point of the mistake and just keep going out through the rest of the take until I blow it again (or if I make it to the end and hit stop!)
Isn't there a way to just set the IN point?
    MacBook Pro 15" 2.16GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi Mortal P,
I know exactly what you mean when you say you dont want to break your flow when recording. Here's an alternative if you have tried and dont like punching on the fly as iS and Jim Frazier suggest.
1 - Before you start set <Right Autodrop> at the very end of your song. You dont need to touch this again until you are finish.
2 - <Set Left Autodrop by song position> to the beginning of the song or where you want to start recording. Assign a very easy Key Command to this function. It must be easy to reach with your guitar round your neck in between takes. Practise using it so it becomes as natural as tapping the space bar.
3 -Start recording - when you want to redo something stop the sequencer. Shift the SPL to just before the mistake and reset <Left Autodrop by Song position>
5 - Pick a new start point to <set left autodrop> Rewind the track so you get a good lead in to that point and press RECORD again
6 - Get used to resetting <left Autodrop by Song position> so you can do it without thinking. You can quickly build up a set of takes from bar one to the end in an intuitive and creative way without the technology interrupting you. But you do have to become completely familiar with a few essential key commands
PS Another essential working practise is to make sure that your playing position ( you mentioned guitar) is well set up next to the computer. It has to be easy physically to turn to the computer keyboard and see the screen and press those essential commands in between takes with one hand. The technology just becomes seamless in these circumstances.
