Setting up 2nd Generation AX with Vista?

I want to add another airport express, I currently have 4 of them. In looking at the documentation for the new AX it says that it requires Windows 7 or higher for settingup with a PC. All my windows computers are running either Vista or XP. Will the setup for the 2nd gernation work with Vista?

You can do a basic setup from the iPad.
I assume that the Express is new, with factory default settings and is powered on with a slow blinking amber light
On the iPad home screen....
Tap Settings
Tap Wifi
Look for the Setup a New Base Station listing
Just below that, tap AirPort Express xxxxx
The setup will take a minute to analyze the network and guide you through the basic configuration
Once the setup is complete, you can go back in using AirPort Utility and change/adjust any settings that you wish. AirPort Utility for iOS devices is available here:

I understand that many people are having problems with their iPods and come here for support and solutions.
I'm just wondering if the iPod Nano 2nd generation 4g I have that is working just fine SHOULD work with latest iTunes on Windows Vista laptop (which I haven't used yet)?

Just to close this out I was able to connect the second generation 4g iPod Nano without issue. In a matter of minutes I had it loaded, recognized by iTunes with up-to-date software, sync with over 900 songs and almost 200 pictures and then ejected (I manually manage music)! Really sorry for those who can't get iTunes and/or iPod to work!

Nano 2nd Generation, Problems with Songs ???

Hello, I have transfered songs from my iTunes to my Nano and there is 2 songs that play for couple of seconds than just stops and goes to the next song. Weird thing is when i go to play the song directly from iTunes it plays normally. I have also downloaded the songs to my Ipod Video 30gb and the same exact songs play normal with no problems. ?????? I just dont understand whats wrong. I have even did the 5 R's and restored my Nano and still the same problems with just those 2 songs. I could just go without those 2 songs but, it just makes me curious to why it works in iTunes and on my Ipod Video 30gb, but not on the Nano. If you have had this problem before or know of a solution your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for taking the time to read this...
Ipod Nano 2nd Generation Other OS Windows Vista

I have this exact same problem, but after doing the 5 R's it is now cutting songs short that didn't have that problem before. Unlike Junz, I can't live with random songs being cut off. I am very interested in an answer as well.

my ipod nano 2nd generation, will not sync. itunes says it is syncing, but nothing changes on my ipod. i tried resetting it, and everything stays the same on the ipod, not matching my current library. i also tried manually dragging and dropping items onto the device, and still nothing happens. i don't want to wipe everything off my ipod if it isn't compatible with windows 8, because then i won't be able to put my library, what songs/playlists are already there, back on the ipod.

Just got a used 2nd generation itouch. When trying to set up itouch it says we need 10.1 itouch or newer. I have downloaded the 10,3 put it still gives me the same message when trying to set it up. Please help.

I am having the same sort of problems as you - and I have not been able to resolve my problems as yet. The document which was referred to earlier might be helpful, but I have not been able to get this to work, and Apple don't seem to offer any real Postfix support. I can get outgoing mail to work but incoming mail is always rejected for one reason or another (550 nu such mailbox is the usual problem).

Ive had my black iPod nano 2nd generation for quite a bit of time now, the iPods screen wouldnt come on one day but iTunes acsepted it and so i restored it. The screen was still off and so now im here asking, Please help, Thanks!

So, what is the actual problem here? You are now wondering if the Vonage can handle the speed from the modem? Is that the "problem" after all this discussion?

What speed is your Internet provider delivering to you?
The AirPort Express uses 100 Mbps Ethernet ports, so it will handle up to 100 Mbps. We have already told you that.
Vonage likely does the same. The answer is almost certainly "yes" .......both the Vonage and AirPort will handle the speed from the modem.
If you want to double check this, please provide the model number of the Vonage, and we will try to look up the specifications for the device. If you have documentation there with specifications for the Vonage device, check to see if the Ethernet ports are listed as 10/100. This is standard with almost all devices, with some of them handling even higher speeds 10/100/1000.
Chances are, your network will handle a lot more speed than your service provider is supplying to you. So, the "choke" point on your network may very well be your service provider and modem......not the Vonage and AirPort.

Sorry, but it is not. It can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. Only 3G and 4G iPod Touches can be updated to latest iOS 5 that supports iCloud.

Need help setting up a file sharing with VISTA

Can somebody help me with setting up a connection to a Windows Vista computer. I followed all the instructions from this forum but still it doesn't work.
Here is what I'm doing:
1) Sharing -> File Sharing -> enabled
2) Sharing -> Options -> activating SMB
3) Network -> Options -> WINS -> "WORKGROUP"
4) Network -> Options -> 802.1X -> activating 802.1X
Under Sharing I see a lable which tells me that Windows user can access my computer via the address smb://x.x.x.x
In Windows this address doesn't work and I cannot see my Mac computer nor can I see the windows computer on the mac.
It worked so well with TIGER.
Do you have set the DHCP to automatic address on both, Mac and windows or do you use a static ip address?

In windows when you do "map network drive" you need to enter "\\server\share" (without quotes).
In Vista, go to the Windows Button > Computer. The "map network drive" option is in the bar in the top of the window. You may need to enlarge the window or click on the little expand arrow to see it.
smb://server is used when you're connecting to a windows share from the MacOS.

Problems setting up a WRT54G router with Vista

My husband upgraded to Windows Vista Home Basic over the weekend (we don't have the newest version! omg!angst!woe!). Today, I got a call that our DSL was turned on, I set up the modem, got the internet working, and attempted to set up the wireless router.
I have used the setup cd, the EasyLink program, and the directions to manually set up the router. I can get the router linked up properly, I can even log into the DSL modem through the router. The problem is that I can't get any of these setup programs to recognize the router. Even putting in http://192.168.1.1 brings up a "page cannot be loaded" error in both Firefox 2.0 and IE (however, when I remove the router, I can see the DSL modem fine with it). Is there some other way to get the wireless router set up, or do I need to wait for one of the two computers with XP to arrive (yay for moving with the military) to set up the router?

I too am having problems connecting the WRT54GS to my vista enabled pc. I have installed the software but since connecting everything my internet access is now diabolically slow. This is on the main wired machine, not wirelessly. The router is obvioulsy doing something inbetween (possibly the firewall) but this has made the speeds almost unbearable, negating the object of the new pc !!
Is there some settings I should eb checking ?

I can't sync my 2nd generation iPad with my Mac. It says that the sync could not start

I tried syncing my iPad with my Mac and once it starts to sync a message pops up saying that my iPad couldn't be synced because the sync session failed to start.

I can't thinl what may be causing this, are you attempting to set up your Email through Settings? That would be the way to go if you aren't.
If they didn't work, or you are already trying to do so, then download the "Yahoo Mail" App from the App Store and use that, I know it's annoying but thats what you may have to do.

2nd generation ipod with error code

When I try to sync my ipod and itunes, I come up with error code -48. Won't sync. Everything was already updated, I've tried virtually everything with the exception of restore. Would like for that to be last option. Can anyone help me out???

2nd Generation iPod with frozen Apple logo

Tried to reset this iPod using the menu/play button technique. Just returns to logo. When I plug into USB, iTunes doesn't recognize and neither does my computer. Stuck and don't know what to do.

That sounds like the 3rd gen iPod. However, it is designed to work with FireWire as well. It may sync over USB if the battery is topped off, but it does not charge over USB. The only way to use USB is to use this special two-ended cable that has both a FireWire and USB connector.

The USB end goes to the USB port on the computer. The FireWire end goes to the square white wall power adapter to supply power to the iPod while it syncs.
