Setting Up a Captivate Quiz

Hello Everyone,
I am farily new to Captivate and I am trying to set up a quiz
in Captivate.
An example of what I am trying to do is attach a picture of
my desktop and ask how would you get to the Internet. The obvious
answer is for the user to click on the "blue e" for internet
explorer. Is there a way to do this?
Also, I may have the option of either administering this test
via e-Learning, but is there another way to do it? If so, how and
how would I obtain the test scores for a particular user?

Hi Mike
From the Captivate standpoint a Click Box may be either an
object that allows you to program a simple interaction (such as
opening a web site or jumping to a particular slide) or you may
also configure it to behave similar to a question. If you edit the
Click Box properties, look at the Reporting tab. By enabling
reporting and assigning values you coax the Click Box object into
behaving like a question.

I've created the var_text.swf by creating a CP5 project that has the variable with a pre-defined value, and a button to set a new value.
Unfortunately, the project doesn't appear to load due to the errors present.
If you could find time to post a couple sample files, it may help us beginners!

Setting AICC_Lesson_Status through Captivate

Is there a way to set AICC_Lesson_Status in Captivate? I'm using the radio button and checkbox widgets to create questions and there are several ways to get through the training depending on whether or not questions are answered correctly..
Completions are not being registered in the LMS. I tried setting "Complete" at 30 screens in the publish settings which is the lowest number of slides a user will see if they get through the assessment without missing any questions. The maximum slides that would be viewed is just under 70 slides.
We've tried a number of options and none of them are working consistently so I need to find some way to "force" a completion setting from Captivate to the LMS when the user hits the Conclusion page.
My LMS guy suggested setting AICC_Lesson_Status to complete when that page is hit but I haven't been able to find any way to do that.
Anyone know how to do it, or have a suggestion on another way to accomplish getting completions registered when the Conclusion page is hit? The only way to get the Conclusion page unlocked is to complete the rest of the course content so if they get there they have completed the course so if there is a way to tell the LMS to register completion when that page is entered - or exited - that would be perfect.

No, not really. I could probably figure out a way to get this working if we were SCORM compliant but the preference for working with this LMS is AICC (which apparently works better on it than SCORM – which is a bit disconcerting since I can’t get completions to register correctly under AICC).
The best I have been able to do is separate out the Conclusion module into a separate project. With report status in quiz preferences marked as “Upon Access” when the Conclusion page is hit, I can use an Open URL statement in the clickbox for linking to the Conclusion module and mark the course as completed. Unfortunately, doing that results in two links being in the LMS for this one course which is not acceptable. Or, to have just one link to the main course in the LMS for users to click, when the Conclusion module is opened from the Conclusion clickbox in the course’s main menu, the session between the main course project and the LMS is closed and a new one with the Conclusion module is opened and that is the one that is marked completed, not the main course.
I’m still trying to figure out what other options I have available but they’re getting pretty thin at this point.
Ideally, I would like to have some way to set a “pass/fail” or “complete/incomplete” setting in one of the system variables so I can “force” the completion to be registered when the user hits the Conclusion page but that doesn’t seem to be an option.
So, I’m kind of at a loss. I feel like I’m shooting at a moving target in the dark. Maybe I’ll get lucky and one of these shots will actually land and I’ll stumble on the way to get this done, but at this point I’m not overly optimistic.
If I can’t get this to work, I’m going to have to redesign the entire course and instead of letting users navigate through the modules of the assessment in any order and letting them know at the end of any module whether or not they passed that module (and let them retake just that module), I’m going to have to take them linearly through the entire course and wait until they complete it before letting them know whether or not they passed and, if they didn’t, force them through the whole thing again from the beginning. Not very good design or efficient use of people’s time, but I’m running out of options – and time since this has to launch on 1 May…
It should all be so simple…….

Can you submit a User Variable instead of the Captivate Quiz Score variable to an LMS?

I am attempting to create two quizzes in a course that has branching. I know that Captivate only allows for one quiz if you are using Question type slides, but I am using a simulation to check the knowledge of a process. I want to report one of the simulation completions depending on which branch the user goes to (different branches for different products). How or is it even possible to submit user variables in place of the Captivate Quiz Score variable, the time in the course variable, and the Pass or Fail status to an LMS?

Sadly, I am using Captivate 5.5. I was thinking it should be possible to use Javascript to be able to take a specific variable and submit it to the LMS in place of Captivate's Quiz variables. I just don't know Javascript well enough to know how to do that.

Problem with registering Captivate Quiz score in LMS

We are using Integrity e-Learning’s WBT manager for our
LMS. We have been using Captivate (SWF files) for several months to
show simulations for software. Generally we are quite happy with
the software.
We have been able to easily create a quiz (a Captivate
generated SWF file) and access it through the LMS (using a HTML
frameset), unfortunately we are having trouble passing the
numerical score the quiz generates to the LMS.
When a student takes a Captivate Quiz (bound into a SWF
file), the final score displays on the final frame of the SWF file,
but is not getting passed to the LMS. All the other data seems to
be fine. So far we are only viewing status using the Lesson
Progress Report, which indicates “no score (n/a)”. In
this case we are embedding the SWF file into a HTML page contained
in a frameset.
We have been able to get a score successfully passed to the
LMS if we link directly to the .swf file, bypassing HTML
altogether, unfortunately we also get a warning about using Flash
Player and multiple warnings about downloading the
“aicc_int.asp” file.

Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer - Error in Results

So I figured out I made a stuipd mistake and mixed up acrobat.com and adobe.com. I kept trying to connect to Adobe.com, NOT acrobat.com.
Once I connect to Acrobat.com (and made an ID) it worked.
I now can connect to Acrobat.com.
However, I still am unable to see my results.
If I try to do a quiz from my local machine I am prompted with the "Post Results" button at the end. When I go to production I do not want to have this button, I would rather have the quiz automatically posted. For now, this will work for the testing phase I have working on.
When I run my quiz in IE, IE hangs when I press Post Results and put my name and password in. It never completes. I have to kill the process.
When I run the quiz from File > Preview > In Web Browser (or F12) it seems to work. I get prompted with my ID I put my info in and it says it has been posted, but I never see any results. This is similar to another post I saw here...

Then I saw another post that said you need to modify the flash settings on the machine where you are posting. You can do this via a URL link...

When I went to this link the first time I only specified the actually acrobat.com. This didn't seem to help. But them I specified the actually .swf file. This made things appear to work. I *was* able to press post, put login info in and then submit the info. This worked without having the do the preview from within Captivate. But I still do not have any data within the Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer.
If I do get some results somehow, I would still like to make the quiz such that the username and password are not prompted at the end and that the results are sent to acrobat.com automatically.

Error when posting captivate quiz results

I would like to posting Captivate quiz results to Acrobat.com. I created an account, but when I click Post Results and log in, I get a 'Send' button option. When I select 'Send', the message 'Unknown Error' appears and the results do not get posted.

I am also still having the same problem, so it looks like this still hasn't been fixed.
Posting results worked fine but lately everyone is getting the unknown error which is embarrassing when you are pushing directors to complete this only to be told it isn't working and wasted their time.
Sort it out Adobe!

Generate Report Troubles with Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer

I'm new to Captivate 5 and am trying to utilize the Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer.
I've enabled report for my project to Acrobat.com and configured as instructed in the online help. The Post Result button appears on the Summary page and appears to work for the two colleagues taking the quiz. But when I click the Generate Report button in Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer, I get the message "Data is not present on local file system, downloading course data," but nothing occurs - no course data appears from the colleagues who are helping me test the quiz.
I'm able to sign in to the Quiz Results Analyzer and it does display the organization, department and course name, but no course data (see image below).
What am I doing incorrectly that keeps this from generating a course report?
Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Your solution worked at first. I went in, took the course, and then went into Analyzer and was able to Generate Report and look at my stats. However, I had a colleague take the course. She did and posted the results and received a "successful" posting message. Then, I went back into Analyzer and clicked the Generate Report button to see how the system worked when there was new learner data. A "Checking for new data" played for a half hour before I finally gave up.
I know that you were able to reproduce this issue where in clicking the Generate Report a second time brings up the loading animation that stays forever and that you were investigating the issue, but I thought I should post here just in case anyone else has a solution.

Identifying Questions in Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyser

Hi All,
We have seen people requesting for identifying the Question from with in Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyser. In what way do you think Question needs to be reperesented within Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyser?
Will it useful if we show the actual thumbnail of the question itself?
Or just showing the Question text will suffice?

Maybe you'd be better off turning off the shuffling of answers (given that it fouls up the reliability of the variable representing what you want) and use Question Pools instead.
This would allow you to get some randomisation of the questions (which is what the answer shuffling is sort of trying to accomplish) but you'd be tracking actual questions. You could have a number of variations of the same question in the pool.
Does that get you any closer to your goal?

Adobe Captivate Quiz Analyzer not reporting

When I login to Captivate Quiz Analyzer the Course selection shows what appears to be a course code and the student name and I can not generate a report. Please see the screen shot attached. Any Help? Thank you!

Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer not generating results

I am using Acrobat.com to track my quiz results. I currently have 26 modules, however 5 of them will not show results in the Adobe Captivate Quiz Results Analyzer. I have tried the quizzes myself and posted the results, however it is still not showing results for the 5 courses. Any suggestions as to why 5 of the courses aren't generating?

I'm not aware of any issues on Acrobat.com that would prevent you from saving your Captivate quiz results. But, I found this thread on the Captivate forum. Please give that a try and let me know how it goes.

How to Import a Captivate Quiz into Presenter

When I try to import a quiz into presenter I can't find the
Captivate quiz. I also want to retain the SCORM qualities.
The hotspot quiz type and sequencing quiz types are great and
currently not available on Presenter. Is this possible?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What do you mean by "adjust"? Editing of Photoshop images should be done in Photoshop.
Sure, it's possible to save individual layers from an image in Photoshop as inidvidual files in a variety of formats, but what's the point? You could just as easily import the layered file, then copy/paste it into a new layer for each layer in the image and use layer visibility to control which ones show. I don't think that will do you a lot of good, though, if you use adjustment layers or opacity controls on the layer in Photoshop.
