Setting up a second computer to our wireless printer, may I use a different network

I want to set up a second computer on the wireless printer but do not want to use my personal network, but would like to use the guest network. May I do this? And how

Simple answer, no, you cannot do this.  Two reasons:
1. The guest network will not, in any way, talk to your personal network.
2. Most guest networks insist on isolating clients from each other on the guest network (unless you know otherwise).

  • How do I get my ipod to print to our wireless printer

Looking to understand how to lonk our iPod to our printer, We are sync and we get and send our emails but can't print from our wireless printer
    Thank you in advance

A good place to start is with an AirPrint enabled printer.  The list is in the link below.  If you have a non AirPrint printer, you wilL need a third party app like printopia or print and share to run the print job thru your computer.

  • How do I set up wireless printer w/o use of CD?

    Hello,
I spent a couple of hours trying to enable wireless connection to Brother MFC-J825DW printer. I was able to add a printer using USB cable, but how do I go about setting up the wireless printer setting without use of supplied CD? Laptop has OS 10.7.
Thanks in advance for your help.

From the Brother web page noted above:
My PC does not have a CD-ROM drive. How can I install the supplied software without a CD-ROM drive?
    Description:
The latest version of drivers, software* and manuals are available on the Brother Solutions Center.
    (*except for some software)
To download the drivers and software go to the Downloads section.
To download the manuals go to the Manuals section.
And for step-by-step network installation, see http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/us/us/en/faq/faq/000000/002700/0 00094/faq002794_005.html?reg=us&c=us&lang=en&prod=mfcj825dw_all&Cat=108
If this is more than you want to do, then as Ziatron suggested above, drop $79 on the Apple SuperDrive.

  • This computer's local hostname is already in use on this network

has anyone else experienced this issue?
The iMac will display the following error message on the screen every day or so (with the host number incresing by 1 digit each time):
This computer's local hostname "MacName.local" is already in use on this network. The name has been changed to "MacName-1.local". This continues even after I've reset the name in the System Preferences panel/sharing settings, for example ("MacName-2.local, MacName-3.local, MacName-4.local" etc).
    Please advise
    Currently running an Apple iMac
    OS 10.6.8
*please see attached screenshot for a reference

    (1) Check names of all other devices on the network, including the router, any airport express, iphone, ipad, printers etc. Make sure these all have unique names.
    (2) Do you have both wired ethernet as well as wireless active on any of these devices, including the Mac computer? This has been linked to such renaming behavior in the past, apparently the two methods of accessing the internet, if both are active at the same time, may switch off and on and conflict with one another (shouldn't happen, but apparently does sometimes). Solution is to switch one of them off.
    (3) The following may be helpful:
    In System Preferences > Network > Airport > Advanced > TCP/IP
Set "Configure iPv6" from "Automatically" to "Off".
If you do this, check to make sure that your email and other tools are still working properly. If something goes amiss, change the iPv6 back to what it was.
    (4) Go to your router and reset power to it.
    (5) Go to your router and check its LAN client table. Make sure that all entries should be there. Investigate any "extra" devices on the network. For instance, if it shows 4 devices, but you know you have only a computer and a printer, investigate what the other two are. Delete them from the list if they really seem to be "ghosts."

  • Wireless printer can't connect to airport network

I recently installed the new airport extreme (n) to replace my old router. I set up the wireless network with WPA protection and my computers and airport express work fine. However, I have been unable to get my HP all-in-one wireless printer to connect. The printer connects fine if I set up the network without security.
HP is suggesting that I set up my printer with a "WEP equivalent key" to my WPA password.
Can anyone tell me where I can get a "WEP equivalent key" to WPA? HP won't say and is suggesting I call Apple.

Simple answer is - you cannot. There is no such thing as a "WEP equivalent key" to WPA, because WEP and WPA are completely different security protocols.
Does your printer's wireless interface support WPA? If may be that it only supports WEP, and what HP is actually recommending you do is use WEP (instead of WPA) security on your base station. WEP passwords are typically configured on a computer (or other wireless client device) as either a string of alphanumeric characters, or the hexadecimal equivalent to that alphanumeric string.

  • Wireless printing (Epson Artisan 725) and multiple networks

Hello. After spending the better part of a day trying to get the wi-fi printing to work on my new Epson Artisan 725 all-in-one, I finally realized the problem is this:
My MacBook Pro (with Snow Leopard) is connected to my home office network via ethernet and my home/family network via the AirPort card. This has never posed a problem before, and I've been able to print to the USB printer on my wife's MacBook, for example, just fine.
I wasn't able to properly configure this wireless Epson (on the family network) until I unhooked the ethernet cable from my MBP, and it won't print unless I do that, either.
So I could switch the printer to my office network, but then my kids won't be able to print to it. Not the end of the world, but is there a way I can be connected to both networks and use this printer?
Esoteric problem, I know. Thanks for any advice.
    -Doug

My name is Syd and I work for Epson America, Inc.
Unfortunately, the printer can not be on 2 networks at the same time. You would need to use the printer control panel and connect to each network whenever you wanted to change. Using the ethernet cable would not allow any wireless access. The only thing we could recommend would be to connect to one network hardwire or wireless, and if the other network has only one computer, connect this USB. The printer will do network and USB simultaneously.
We would recommend contacting technical support via phone if there are any questions or they can provide a walk through of the installation. The direct number is 562-276-4382.
    Here to help,

  • Second Request On C4780 Wireless Printing

Hi. Doesn't anyone have a probable solution to this issue? Thanks.
I have a C4780 that I've installed and uninstalled the software twice for already. The computer is a Dell laptop. The printer was previously printing wirelessly with a Mac, no problems. Now at the completion of the software installation, the printer congratulates me for a clean setup and prints a nice color test page. When I look in Printers And Devices, the printer is there with a green check mark all ready to go as the default printer.
I have ATT Uverse service, broadband internet, TV, phone, 2-wire162 broadband wireless router, windows 7 home premium...WPA_PSK authentication, TKIP encryption, and the encryption key. I have a Brother MFC-6890CDW all-in-one that works perfectly as a stand-alone wireless device. Norton Anti-Virus is my anti-virus software.
Problem: As soon as I hit print for any document, I get a "Printer Error" and I can't print anything. Can someone help me with this?

i tried to print from coupons, com but it will not  i have used coupons.com before with my other printer and weorked fine i have coupons.com looking into it
just wondering if anyone else out there have the same problem

    Hi,
Same physical printer but when connecting to SAME computer using both USB and wireless it becomes two (logical) printers. Probably your default prnter is the wireless one, you have to select the right printer before print .

  • I want to set default printer settings to be used only for a specific type of application, certain documents. All other print jobs should use a different default setting for the printer.

I am printing a specific document from a web based application. This document need to be printed in landscape. So I would like to set the default settings for this specific printer to landscape. But for all other printers it should be portrait. But this does not seem to work. The browser picks the settings from the standard/default printer and uses this for all print jobs.

  • This computer's local hostname is already in use on this network the name has been changed to

I've been getting this error after waking my computer from sleep. I think it has to do with my airport extreme. Does anyone have a fix?

Sometimes this message means that you have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. Disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
Sometimes it happens because a device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
Rename the computer in the Sharing preference pane.

  • Can't log into computer joined to domain "Corp" when connected to a different network where the domain is also "Corp"

My company uses the prefix "Corp" for their Active Directory domain. The domain is Corp.Company1.com, so when I log into the computer I log into it as Corp\Username.
Here is the issue I am facing: I often take my laptop to another company site (Lets call them Company2) which has been acquired by Company1. When I plug my Company1.com computer into Company2's network and try to log in to Corp\Username, I get a username or
bad password error because it is trying to log into Corp.Company2.com instead of Corp.Company1.com.
I have a large number of users who are going to start working at Company2 sites but using Company1 computers. Until these domains are joined (I consider that a separate issue), what workarounds might I be able to use to allow users to log onto their laptops
without having to unplug from the Company2 network?

have your users loging using the fqdn of the domain, that will probably work just fine (provided they can access these dc's or you allow cached logons).

  • TS2235 Hi, how can I print from my IPAD to my wireless HP 6520 printer.  I have a wireless network and my IPAD and wireless printer are connected to the same network.  But when I send a job, I get the "no air printer found" message.

My windows firewall is disabled (protected by Comcast's Norton program) so that should not be a problem.  Should I down load Bonjour?

    Hello Bleedingblue65
Check out the section highlighted below to troubleshoot your issues printing through AirPrint.
    AirPrint Basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If you are unable to print, or if you see the message "No AirPrint Printers Found"
    Verify that the printer:
Has power and is turned on. If it has power, turn the printer off and then on again to see if that resolves the issue.
Is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the iOS device.
Has the latest firmware version installed.
Has paper with enough ink or toner installed.
Is free of any errors displayed on the printer's control panel.
If necessary, consult the printer documentation or contact the printer vendor for help with the above steps.
    Notes:
AirPrint printers connected to the USB port of the Apple AirPort Base Station or Time Capsules are not supported with AirPrint.
Some Wi-Fi AirPrint printers can take several minutes to join a Wi-Fi network after being turned on. Ensure that the AirPrint printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network before attempting to print.

    -Norm G.
