Setting up a second monitor to a hp p2-1122 desktop

I want to set up a second monitor (MAG innovision  900p) to my HP p2-1122 desktop computer. The hp monitor that came with the computer is hooked up to the VGA port and the only other port I see is a dvi port. What additional equipment will I need to get so that I can hook up the second monitor?

According to the specs for your HP Pavilion p2-1122 Desktop Computer, this model has integrated Radeon HD 7310 graphics that supports DVI and VGA output ports (can be used at the same time) as shown below;
2 - DVI-D (digital only)                    3 - VGA (analog only)
Please provide the complete brand and model numbers of both monitors you are trying to use with your computer. Your computer will only support one VGA monitor and one DVI-D monitor. No other combination will work without the use of adapters and/or converters.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

  • Best way to set up a second monitor with a Touchsmart

    What's the best way to set up a second monitor for the Touchsmart IQ506?  Is a USB to VGA cable the only way and how well does that work (I've read that they can be buggy)?
    Are they any recommendations for products and setting it up?

    Leopard wont be out befor the second half of this year, sofar i cannot tell you what options you are going to have with the new system. Seems like with time machine is going to be a perfect backup for your whole system.
    10.4.x:
    Software RAID you can do 0 -1:
    To setup a RAID of your system you have to format the drive and setup the RAID type you want from the disk utility.
    To have some security i suggest the "mirror" options but you are going to lose some perfomance, depending you want is your main job it mighn't be noticed.
    RAID 5:
    This would be the nicest option but you need to buy an additional RAID controller. This is mostly used on servers and not on client computers.

  • Mac Book Pro 17" CS6 crashes when setting output to second monitor.

    I am testing out the trial version of Premiere CS6 and the program keeps crashing when I try to set the video output to my second monitor via a DVI connection.  Anybody else having this problem with the Mac version?
    Mac Book Pro 17"
    2.2Ghz I7
    8 GB
    AMD 6750M 1025MB

    I am using a mini display port to DVI adapter and it is a thunderbolt port.
    I just tried it again and now it seems to be working.  I have tried it dozens of times and everytime it would do nothing and when I opened prefrences to change it back CS6 would lock up.
    I just tried it a couple more times by closing the program and openning it up again and now for whatever odd reason it seems to be working great.
    I also have been trying the trial version that was released last week but I have since removed that version since it wasn't a stable release but it had the same problem.  I am using the official trial version as of this morning and the problem was still there but now it is gone.
    Not sure what happened but no matter what I do it now works.  huh  Perhaps a left over preference file from the unstable version or something like that.

  • Setting up a second monitor for FCP

    Hi,
    I'm editing on FCP 4 HD on an iMac G4. I'm about to start a new project which will have hours and hours of footage, so I'm going to need another monitor so I can have the Bins on one screen, so that I can see as much of the footage clips as possible.
    I have a VGA cable and I just want to check that if I have another display, I'll be able to use it as a dual screen computer (ie like a pro editing setup) or will the new display just mirror what I have on my iMac. I really don't know how this works, so sorry if I sound naive!
    Thanks

    well if the imac does have a place to plug a second monitor into. then yes you will be able to use it like you want. if it does mirror then just go into the display prefs and turn off mirroring. i didn't think those imacs had a VGA plug, but then i again i am not sure. so check that first.

  • How can I set up a second monitor using the DVI, a mini Displayport to dvi?

    Hey guys,
    In my office I'm trying to set up a mac with two displays, Samsung screensync sa450s, using a Startech MDP2DVIW mini displayport to dvi, and the DVI port found on the ATI Radeon HD 5770.
    However, whichever monitor is plugged in through the mini displayport never shows video, and instead will just flicker sometimes, no matter which monitor I use, or which of the mini displayports i use. The system profiler recognizes both monitors, and has all of the specs on both monitors, but only the monitor connected directly to the DVI displays anything, even if it is the secondary monitor.
    The StarTech does still work with the macpro that used to be in this spot, and the only salient distinction I can find is that the old computer has Mountain Lion, while the new one is still running Snow Leopard. Is this a case where we should just update the OS? or is there another fix?
    I've also read online that many people have been not fully plugging in these mini displayports, so I'm worried that I'm doing that, but then I'd figure it wouldn't have worked when I plugged it into the old computer unless my predecessor had made some hardware adjustments.
    Let me know.

    A frequent solution to problems like the one you describe involves pushing in the Mini DisplayPort cable-end.
    It should be inserted until essentially ALL of the metal end disappears inside the jack on the 5770 board.
    Is this display wider than 1920 wide?
    EDIT:  The Startech MDP2DVIW adapter you cited is a passive adapter suitable for 1920 wide or less. You should be using ACTIVE adapters, about US$35. They cost a little more, but are much more trouble-free. The ACTIVE designation means they contain booster circuitry to raise the Voltage levels up to true DVI levels. The default converter produces good timing, but the signals are really low.

  • Setting up second monitor on HP Envy

  • Can photos be viewed on a second monitor while being edited?

    I have the use of a second monitor (better screen resolution) when using my laptop to edit photos.  Is it possible (in PSE 9) to use the second monitor to view the photo as I edit, but keep the editing tools on the laptop monitor.  This would maximise the size of the image that can be viewed.  Thanks.

    Thanks for the quick reply, 99jon.
    I can set up the second monitor either as a copy of the laptop monitor (not ideal) or as an extension of my laptop monitor.  This being so, how can I get the image across to the external monitor?  Can it be "dragged and dropped" or is there some other way?

  • A second monitor

    i just set up a second monitor. i now have two identical screens in front of me. i was really hoping for one screen that's twice as big kinda thing.
    can i set that up? and if yes, how do i do it in OSX 10.3.9?
    thanks

    Is there anything useful in this article?

    unfortunatly there doesn't seem to be an "arrangement" option.
    does this mean my ATY,Rage128pro card doesn't support this kind of arrangement?
    and thanks for the reply,

  • All dialogs open in second monitor

    I recently installed a second monitor to my Toshiba laptop and I am using the extended desktop using the built-in NVIDIA video card. Because of performance problems not related to the second monitor, I had to reformat my internal hard disk.
    After reinstalling LabVIEW 8.0.1 Development  Suite on an external drive, I found that  all the dialogs (those in LabVIEW, in my apps both compiled or run under labVIEW) opened on my second monitor. I checked the VI properties to make sure that the run-time window position was not set to the second monitor and I checked the NVIDIA video card settings to make sure that the dialogs were not set for the second monitor. I have no problem with any other applications such as Quicken.
    I then uninstalled LabVIEW and reinstalled on my internal hard disk. The dialogs still open in the second monitor. Does anyone know how to fox this?

    Is your front panel on monitor 1 (the one that you want the dialog to open on) or is it on monitor 2??  It seems that if you are using the default LabVIEW dialogs (in Dialog & User interface) it will open centered on your front panel.
    If you create your own custom dialog box, go into the Run-Time position and under the Position drop down box select "custom" and it will automatically set it to the current position.  (make sure that you have it on your first monitor already)

  • I'm trying to set up a dual monitor for my new iMac. I'm using a second display I used with my old G5. My iMac recognizes the second monitor but the monitor won't turn on. Power button doesn't do anything on the monitor itself.

    I'm trying to set up a dual monitor for my new iMac. I'm using a second display I used with my old G5. My iMac recognizes the second monitor but the monitor won't turn on. Power button doesn't do anything on the monitor itself.

    If it won't turn on then the monitor is dead (power supply?, video circuits?).  Not worth repairing.
    If you have a new iMac then it has thunderbolt.  So exactly what is that monitor you are trying to connect?  For TB you can connect a mini-displayport monitor.   Probably (not 100% sure with TB) can use dvi or vga too if you have the appropriate adapter.

  • How to set up a samsung 2433LW monitor as a second monitor?

    I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE running on Windows 7 64bit.  I have one monitor attached, a HP 2311x connected using one of the two available DVI ports.  When I connect a second monitor, a Samsung 2433LW using the second DVI port, the second monitor is not recognised and has a black no input screen and the original HP monitor loses all shortcut icons and only the desktop background is visible.
    Please advise how I can get my second monitor to work.
    Thanks.

    Does the Samsung 2433LW monitor work by itself on the computer???
    It sounds like the Samsung is taking over as the primary display and the HP is becoming the secondary display. Try swapping the DVI cables in the back of the computer and see if  that helps. Here is a photo of the back of the original display card in your HP Pavilion Elite HPE-540me Desktop Computer;

  • How can I set the default window location in calendar to my second monitor?

    After installing Mavericks, Calendar always opens its windowed centered in my main monitor.  I move it to where I want it (upper left, second monitor) but when I quit the program, the location reverts to the original location.  Is there a .plist I need to edit?
    -Jeff

    The "quit calendar" fix does not endure after the next logout or restart.
    In System Preferences, in the Mission Control Pane, unchecking "Displays have separate spaces" causes the windowing behavior to revert to pre-Mavericks behavior.  Applications open in the previously used window.  Applications with windows on multiple monitors re-open with correctly located windows.  However, all the behavior reverts, so you can't run multiple full screen applications on different monitors, nor is there a tool bar at the top of secondary monitors.

  • Setting 1920x1080 resolution in second monitor (mirror)

    Hola!
    I have a MacBook Pro 13'' (2011). I'm trying configure a second monitor with the Mac, the second monitor it's a Asus VH226 and Mac recognized it perfectly.
    I configure the screen mode in mirror screens but the resolution of the second monitor is not the native (1920x1080). I'm confused but Mac knows the native resolution.
    I select the resolution in the menu but not applied, the second monitor turns off and on again but at 1600x1200 although it is marked 1980x1080.
    Thanks
    PS: I bought this connector http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB570Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MTA4NDU0ODY

    I found a solution!
    First of all, I'm using this external monitor as primary monitor and there are connected to a external keyboard and external mouse.
    The solution is close the clamshell and reactivate the Mac with the external keyboard, now only turns on my Asus with native resolution 1920x1080.

  • IQ770 /771 setting or checking the resolution of a second monitor

    Hi I have a Touchsmart 771 and would like to use a second monitor, I have a spare HP W19 monitor that as far as I can see is the same resolution as the integrated monitor ( 1440x900 60Hz). If I connect this to the external port it seems to work fine when a second screen at it's native resolution. When I use the Nvidia tool to select a clone display both displays reduce in resolution.
    I can't find any way in the Nvidia tool to display what the resolution is or to be able to try and change it.
    I am happy to buy another monitor if for some reason the W19 screen is causing the problem but don't wan't to spend that money to find that it does not.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    I wasn't really expecting a reply - a bit of an oddball question!
    Anyway, this is what I did in the end just in case anyone in the future needs it:
    private boolean locationAndSizeOK(int posX, int posY, int width, int height)
            if ((width < MINIMUM_FRAME_WIDTH) || (height < MINIMUM_FRAME_HEIGHT))
                return false;
            GraphicsDevice[] devices = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getScreenDevices();
            // Find out if the top left or right corner is in one of the screens.
            for (GraphicsDevice device : devices)
                // Get the bounds and the insets (i.e. task bar).
                Rectangle bounds = device.getDefaultConfiguration().getBounds();
                Insets screenInsets = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenInsets(device.getDefaultConfiguration());
                // Calculate visible area.
                int x1 = bounds.x + screenInsets.left;
                int x2 = bounds.x + bounds.width - screenInsets.right;
                int y1 = bounds.y + screenInsets.top;
                int y2 = bounds.y + bounds.height - screenInsets.bottom;
                // Top left corner.
                if ((posX > x1) && (posX < (x2 - SCREEN_BUFFER_X)))
                    if ((posY > y1) && (posY < (y2 - SCREEN_BUFFER_Y)))
                        return true;
                // Top right corner.
                int rightCornerX = posX + width;
                if ((rightCornerX > (x1 + SCREEN_BUFFER_X)) && (rightCornerX < x2))
                    if ((posY > y1) && (posY < (y2 - SCREEN_BUFFER_Y)))
                        return true;
            return false;
        }It works in all cases I require...
    Cheers, Boomah.

  • How do I set Firefox to open new windows in my second monitor?

    When opening a new window (by right clicking a link and selecting Open in New Window), I would like the window to be opened in my second monitor. Firefox used to do this, but randomly stopped. Now when I open a new window it is opened in my primary monitor. It does not open maximized (just short of being completely maximized). I have tried the fix I used before- moving the un-maximized browser to the second window, closing and re-opening the window. I have also tried moving the un-maximized browser, maximizing, closing and re-opening. Does anyone know how I can restore Firefox to open my new window in the second monitor?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Randomly

    Click the orange Firefox button, and click "Options". This will bring up a new window with a "Tabs" tab at the top. Click that. There will be several checked boxes, including one called "Open new windows in a new tab instead" up at the top of the list. Uncheck that box and you should be good to go.
    ETA: This should also work if you click "Tools" and "Options" within your version.
