Have him do a normal backup-and-sync operation with his old iPod Touch on his computer (or his account on your computer, however you have this arranged). Disconnect his old iPod Touch from the cable, plug in the replacement iPod Touch, and choose to RESTORE FROM BACKUP. This will replace all his settings, media, apps, and even the data stored by individual apps. In all ways it should look and behave just like his old iPod Touch, only without whatever was "ailing" it.

I select English and United States and then put in my AppleId (which does not happen to be an email address - I have had the id for a long time). I also put in the password and then get an error telling me the AppleID has to be an email address. So I enter the email address associated with my apple ID and it tells me to go to iforgot.apple.com I go there and reset my pw and also TRY to change the apple ID to my email address but it tells me the email address isn't available. HELP

Return it and get a refund. Without the prior owner's Apple ID and password that device is useless. Find My iPhone Activation Lock- Removing a device from a previous owner’s account. You were screwed by the ignorance of the pawn shop owner.

If you did not yet connect with iTunes, you can place any music from your library back into your iPod from the computer. When set to automatically manage usic and videos, whatever iTunes finds changed in your music app will be reset to what is on your computer iTunes library.

Help setting up my new IPod Touch on iTunes on windows 7 64bit

Hello there,
I need help setting up my new IPod Touch to my Itunes 10 application on a PC running windows 7 64bit. I have watched the tutorial on how to do it but what the tutorial says it is supposed to do is not what is happenning for me:
1. In the tutorial it tells you to connect your ipod to your computer, then, (if it is for the first time) when the ipod appears and is selected, a window will come up allowing you to name your ipod, and begin selecting the options you wish to use.
I did as instructed but quickly came against some technical issues.
My issues:
1-1: When I selected the new iPod Touch for the dirst time I got an error message.
A) This was quickly fixed once I calld up apple support on the phone (turns out an IE browser setting was blocking it.)
1-2: With that fixed I selected my iPod Touch again but instead of the window indicated by the tutorial, I instead got an iPod registration form window.
1-3: I filled out the form and pressed the submit button (thinking everything was fine), then a new window came up that looks like this:

The first three lines and the first paragraph are indented as if there should be some type of graphic there, but it is missing. The underlined words indicate that they are supposed to be links, but they don't go anywhere, they are broken!
Now wheenever I connect my iPod Touch and select it the above window comes up and nomatter what I try it will not move or change.

you have a thin brick. I suspect your iPod was stolen or lost. I would turn it into the police since it is worthless to you if you can't get the previous owner to remove from their account

How did you restore?
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Notes are associated with the iCloud ID used. Are y using theme ID as the old device?
Do they still show on the old device?

I am trying to set up my old iPod touch for my 10 year old. I want to be able to filter things out and get my contacts off from the iPod. I tried setting up a new Apple ID just for the iPod, but have not been successful. Any advice is appreciated.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Yo have to enter a birtdate that results in being at least 13 years old
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive. Note if you do this then y will NOT copies of Messages he gets/sends unless you also add his email address to your device in Settings>Messahes>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

Hi, I have an iPod touch 3G and want to set up "Find My iPod Touch" on it, as described here:

I'm running OS 4.3.4 (8K2) and have iTunes 10.4.1. I have an AppleID but not a MobileMe account. I understand that since iCloud is replacing MobileMe, they are not accepting any more subscriptions (not that I'm anxious to pay $99/year for what will now be a free service). I'm not sure I want to create a new account anyway, because all the apps I own are linked to my current Apple ID which is not an email address.
I have a program called "Hidden" for my Macbook which works via wi-fi. If I lose the Macbook, I log into the Hidden website and it triggers the Macbook to broadcast its location via wi-fi (assuming it's within range of a signal). So I would assume that since an iPod touch has wi-fi capabilities, it could do something similar even though it's not directly linked to the internet like an iPhone.
Does anybody know how I can get this going?
My son has an iPad 2 that is wi-fi only and I would like to set up the same for him.

Hi I bought a used Ipod Touch (4th). It was wiped clean when I got it except it had the prev. owners apple Id still on it when we went to download an app.so I went in sign it out. then created a new acct with it under my apple Id. I have an Iphone 4 (the ipod is for my Daughter).I can download apps, Music etc. But when I do, I get an email from apple saying a device has downloaded a song etc. that is not recognized with my acct.I also when I plug it in to my laptop it does nothing, does not show up on my device list, no pop up to add it,no DING nothing.I take and plug in my Iphone(using the same cord) and Ding there it is..Anyone know how to add this new one to my act so I can use itunes on my pc. and not get the emails? Also it has been updated to the IOS 4.3.4..Thnxs

take it to apple store and schedule genius bar appointment. your iPod is still under warrenty because that version is not even a year old. They should replace it. Good Luck!

How do I transfer my current iTunes Library for a 5th gen. Nano to a used iPod touch 2nd gen.?
