Setting up after restoring from recovery disks?

Long story short, I was forced to restore my T540p win7 Prof x64 from my recovery disks. Although I'm an IT professional, I've never done this before, and I need some advice. It did restore successfully, but the problem at the moment is that it doesn't appear to have a wireless adapter or the like--the device manager only shows 2 Bluetooth adapters so it can't connect wirelessly, doesn't see anything outside OR inside. If I connect it to my homegroup via cable, will that suffice to let me at least find the proper drivers I'll need? I didn't do the actual restore, my work support guy did, and he did use all 3 of the disks, so I would have thought that would have set up something as basic as the network adapters, but I don't know. He said that it should have at least a basic windows network adapter, which I'd hope will let it connect via the homegroup at least? I do note the 2 recovery disks say they are "applications and drivers recovery", but I'm not sure what those were for--wouldn't they have been installed or is there something else I have to do? What *exactly* do I need to install, drivers-wide, to at least get it to connect to the outside? TIA Elaine ivy, va

Success! I poked around the Lenovo drivers site and tried every wireless adapter I found for windows 7 64, and son of a gun, but I found something that worked Shocking! In any event, I can get out now, but stay tuned! I'm sure I'll have a BUNCH more problems elaine

If you have, or can borrow an external CD/DVD drive it would be worth trying this although I'm not certain your notebook will support booting from a drive connected via USB.
Another option may be to see if you can find a second hand optical drive on somewhere like Ebay - the drives compatible with your notebook can be found on Page 59 of your Maintenance & Service Guide. It may even be worth removing a re-seating your existing drive just in case this helps as described in this section.
Does the drive show up in Device Manager? If it does, right click it and select Properties. Select the driver tab and see if there is an error code in the status box.

How can I restore up to the current day after restoring from a disk image??

I do two types of backups... Every night I connect my MB to TM and it backs up changes made throughout the day. On Saturdays I do the same. I bring up time machine and force to backup NOW. I then turn off time machine. I then perform an image backup of the full disk and keep that full weekly image offsite.
Well I upgraded to SL, and once again many of my drivers still don't work with SL particularly a Verizon Broadband card that I was provided drivers for that have a bug. So back to Leopard I go again.
I restored the full image backup using boot from DVD & Disk utility. This worked fast and quickly restored my MBP to exactly the point where I forced the backup to time-machine. I had done some work Sunday morning, and made changes to a bunch of files. I forced a TM backup later that night to ensure to catch these changes. After the failure of the SL load, I restored as I noted from an image which is much faster.
The question is... I am now at the same point of Sat morning. How can I restore to the point where I was Saturday night just before I did a test upgrade to SL if I touched a bunch of stuff. (Some work files, some personal files). So what I really need to restore is the files backed up after my full image from Saturday AM? Any way to do this without knowing the files I updated?
CLearly TM knows what files were changed and backed them up Saturday night before I performed the upgrade??

The easiest, most reliable way is to do a full system restore, as of the Saturday night Time Machine backup. See #14 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
If for some reason you don't want to do that, you can get a list of the items that were actually backed-up, via +Time Tracker+ or +Backup Loupe.+ See #8 in the FAQ Tip.

ENVY dv7t-7200 Replace hard drive and restore from recovery disk/flash drive

I am replacing the HDD on my ENVY dv7t, running Windows 8. The existing drive is a 5400 rpm 1TB and I am replacing with a 750GB Seagate momentus XT. Largely, the reason is performance and I don't need that large of a drive. The plan is to remove the old drive and replace it with the 750GB mentioned above. I have the Recovery image on a 32G thumb drive, so the plan is to restore the image on the new drive.
Any issues that I should be aware of? Will this work?

The dv7t-2000 is a CTO machine therefore I can't see its specs, I belive it has room for another HDD/SSD and you can utilize/utilise it. There are few known firmware problem with the 750GB Seagate momentus XT. Please check the firmware first (must be SD28 or later). Other than that should be fine.

HT201263 now when I try to restore from recovery I get a code 3014 and it will not restore?

The screen only shows a usb cord to an itunes logo and it results in a code 3014 when i connect and try to restore from recovery mode.

Make sure that the backup file with the bookmarks has the correct file extension: .html for a HTML backup and .json for a JSON backup. 
You can check that via the right-click context menu of that file and open the Properties. 
If you are not sure about the file type then you can open the file in Firefox via "File > Open File" 
A JSON backup will show as one long text line without line breaks and a HTML backup as a web page with clickable links. 
A JSON backup starts with: {"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded": 
An HTML backup starts with: <nowiki><!DOCTYPE NETSCAPE-Bookmark-file-1></nowiki>
You may need to add quotes ("") around the name to rename the file to the correct file extension.

Database is in the pending status after restore and recovery.
The database can not startup today and it shows a error message: the log file 2 cannot be archived. Then I issue the following command:

When you restored your phone from an old backup, it wiped ALL data from your phone and replaced it with the data from that backup. It's like your phone went back in time.
Your data that was on the phone before you did the restore is now gone forever. There is no way to get these data back.

To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.

Try some basic trouble shooting steps first, before looking into some advanced issues that might be causing this. The first thing I would try, is holding down the power button and home button at the same time until the screen turns off on you. See what steps you can take from there, if any.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

Mass downloading after installation from a disk

I recently bought Premiere Elements 12 on a disk. Installation went smoothly and the program seems to run just fine. However, whenever I am running the program, a program that I have called BitMeter (a program that tracks Internet usage) show mass downloading. I tried restarting the program and even rebooting the computer but still, every time i run the program, it starts to download. It doesn't seem to be downloading anything, Premiere Elements doesn't say that it's downloading anything and the folder that it is installed into hasn't grown in size. I left it downloading for a while and after 2GB it was still going. Since I installed off of a disk i can't see any reason why it would need to download anything that large. Is there any reason why Premiere Elements 12 would be downloading anything after installation from a disk?

I do not know if you got to Content in the program. Much of it has to be downloaded before use. But, it would appear that it is on demand and not downloaded until you demand it. The Online Folder that contains the downloadable content runs several GBs.

I am not sure what you might be picking up with your BitMeter program.
It would be interesting to hear Adobe's comment on this. We are not Adobe. Just Premiere Elements users trying to help other Premiere Elements users with their Premiere Elements workflows.
What you might try, wild guessing, open the Elements Organizer 12, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Media Analysis and shut off all the AutoAnalyzer options and everything else under Media Analysis. Then observe what happens, if anything, to your program activity. Have you started using the Adobe Revel feature?

They would only be stored in your backup. If they didn't restore properly all you can do is try restoring the backup again.

Super drive is not working after Restoring from Time Machine

well its pretty much the Subject actually, my imac giving me BlueScreen problem so i searched and posted question and the only Solution i got was to Re-install Leopard and i did that by using Leopard DVD and Restored my imac from Time Machine backup, But i got into new problem and now the TIME after restoring from the "Time Machine" my DVD ejecting EVERY CD,DVD etc. even the Leopard DVD which he reads happily.
I dont think its a hardware fault at all, but i'm not a "Genious". Any suggestion!

Issue solved with visit to Genius Bar.
As I understand it here are the steps the Genius did. Attempt to create the account (system preferences->users) with the same information. It will say it already exists. Very carefully read the options. One will say use the existing account. BE CAREFUL because one option will wipe your data.
If you need to do this it might be worth the trip to the Genius Bar as you could wipe your data. One precaution I took was to bring a full copy of that user account onto my desktop (from the backup immediately before the wipe) in addition to the one in the user folder. Once we verified that the account was working I moved the desktop copy to the trash and again verified the account (just to be safe).
Hope this helps someone else.
