Setting up alternative router: TD-W8960N

I have downloaded the file from
http://forumhelp.dyndns.info/hardware/TP_link/wa8960/infinity/td_w8960setup.html
but when I try to import it I keep getting an error message about it being an illegal image.
I assume I am missing a step somewhere, can anyone provide guidance?

I would expect the details in the manual would be clearer, as the new version does support EWAN. If you were only looking for an Infinity router, then the TD-W8960N, would not be a good choice, unless you were using it for ADSL, while waiting for an upgrade to Infinity.
Its like the HH3 and 4, in that respect. The list on my website was for replacements for the HH3, which is what I assume you were looking for.
The TP-Link TL-WR1043ND would be a much better choice for Infinity only.
I would take a close look at the manual, I am sure its going to be quite straightforward.
I have just looked, and there is a quick setup option, which leads you through the options.

The Openreach modem will connect to LAN port 4.
To be honest, I think its worth you giving it a go, you will learn a lot in the process
It has lots of extra facilities, and is a bargain at £30.

    I'm having a problem setting up static routing.  I keep getting the message "invalid static route".   I have an E1550 router and my frimware is up to date.  I have tried a few different gateway addresses ie 192.168.1.1,  127.0.0.1 and my router's address on the net, but I keep getting the same message.  Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

    I think the E1550 router supports LAN to LAN routing provided that you have two local networks. If you only have a plain modem and the E1550, I believe you can't do Static routing on that type of setup.   • Problems setting up WRT54G2 router

    I'm having problems setting up my Linksys WRT54G2 router. I want my mac laptop (iBook G3 running OSX) to use a wireless connection, and the home computer (running Windows XP) to stay connected to the modem.
    I originally tried to set up the router by connecting it via ethernet to my laptop (and by ethernet to the modem), and went into the 192.168.1.1 address to configure it. The internet works fine on my laptop when connected to the wireless by ethernet but it can't connect wirelessly (it has an original airport card fitted, at first I thought I might need to upgrade the firmware but I ran a software update and one didn't come up). I then realised that I would need to MAC clone from the PC, that is connected to the modem? I tried to do this today, but I couldn't access the 192.168.1.1 address from the PC. I have tried resetting the router, and disabling the firewall but still can't access it. This PC also has anti-virus software running too - could this be the problem, or am I setting it up wrong?     If you are trying to Setup your Router with the setup disk, Then you can exit from the setup and configure your Router manually. Before you configure your router, you need to Press and hold the reset button for 60 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 60 seconds and re-connect the power cable.....
    You need to connect your Modem to Linksys Router on Internet Port and your Computer to Linksys Router on Port No.1.

    Here are the Wireless Settings which you can set on your router, once done you can try connecting your MAC computer to your Wireless network and check if you are Online from MAC computer. 
    Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop).In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1
    Leave username blank & in password use admin in lower case...
    For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    -Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    -Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
    Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
    Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
    Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
    NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
    Change the Beacon Interval to 75 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
    Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

    They said I need to change my settings to NAT settings. I haven't been able to figure out or find anything. I have also spoken to Apple Support on the phone for hours without being able to figure out how to do this ( i don't think he knew much either lol.) Please help me because I've got about 15-20 devices in my house that require to be connected to the internet and this is just making things ridiculously slow and painful for me.

    It is on DHCP & NAT under router mode yet my isp is still the one issuing ip addresses to my devices instead of the router issuing them

    The design property in Table properties should work for your requirement. Select "alternating" value for design.
    Please see the API below:
    design
    Determines the appearance of the table. The property design can take the following values and is represented by enumeration type WDTableDesign.
    alternating - The table rows are displayed alternately in a different color.
    standard - The table background has one color. The individual table rows are displayed with grid net lines.
    transparent - The table background is transparent. The individual table rows are displayed without grid net lines.
    Check whether you have changed the right property or not? Also table should contain more than one rows to test this scenario.

  • I set up wireless router and now it won't turn back on

    I had a friend set up the router so that my Comp sent out wireless signal.
    It doesn't automatically turn on and I can't find how to turn it back on.
    Please help i'm new to mac and these things are putting me off having one.

    Thanks for the answer, I have gotten it working, it was showing as being on (internet sharing) I then turned if off and on again (internet sharing) and that seemed to do it.

  • How to set the default route on a RVS4000 to point to a gateway in the LAN

    The dialog in the RVS4000 for static routes does not allow to set the default route to point to a gateway in the LAN. Clearly this is either a bug or a feature of the web-interface and not a restriction of the box, which runs some kind of linux. So my question is there a way around this problem rather then defining routes to n-class A networks to cover the internet? Like a terminal access to set the default route?

    Thanks for your reply. I did already the first part and it seems that I presumed wrongly that the RVS4000 can be used as a layer 3 switch, instead it is only a 1-port gateway. Not that there is a technical limitation from the hardware or the OS of the box. It does layer 3 routing e.g. for its VLAN's. The only point to stop it from having the capability which I expect from something called router is to set its default route to the right gateway independant which port might be connected. The reason why I want a LAN port pointing to the gateway and do not use the WAN port without firewall is of course the VLAN capability of the LAN ports. The idea of the RVS is to bundle two nets, including the one where the gateway is on, and send it to a WAP4410N box, which nicely makes them wireless with different SSID's. Actually I have two ports connetced to the core network, if I am forced to have only the WAN port connected to the core, due to this artificial limitation, I would have to reconfigure a bit. Therefore I try to find an easier solution setting the route by "hand".

    Thanks for your answers. I dont want to create new production versions. But routing informations are change.
    Ex: I have two machines in a production line, lets say it A and B. This line has a work center code in SAP ( lets says Line1)
    When I use only machine A I produce 100 pieces in 5 minutes with 2 worker. But when I use A & B at the same time I produce 100 pieces in 3 minutes with 3 worker.
    Machine A and B are connected to the same conveyor belt, so I put the pieces in the same palette. And during confirmation I use Line1 as workcenter.
    What should I do to post the exact activities ?

  • Setting my WRT54G router up WITHOUT a modem!

    Hey guys. When I set up my router, and install it for DHCP, the status shows like this: IP-Adress: 0.0.0.0, or like everything is at 0.0.0.0 ??? =( Right now im connected via a Switch. PLEASE help me!

    1)make sure the modem is connected to the internet port and the internet LED is lit on the router
    2)if you have a cable modem...on the router ui , under the "setup" tab , click on "mac add clone" subtab , enable it and click clone.. save the settings and do a power cycle
    3)check the internet ip add ... if getting a valid ip add, try going online
    4)if you have a DSL connection , under the "setup" tab...select the "internet connection type" as PPPoE .. enter the username and password provided by the ISP ..
    5) go to the " status" tab and check whether the PPPoE login status is connected and there is a valid internet ip add ..

  • Setting up Multicast Routing for Imaging on HP Switches

    I've just spent a bit of time getting multicast imaging to work on our
    HP ProCurve switched network so I thought I'd post what was necessary
    so if anyone else had to look for it then they'd have some help.
    You'll need a switch capable of routing such as a 5300 series that is
    already routing regualr IP traffic. By default IGMP routing is disabled
    so that multicast traffic will not cross VLANs. Here's how to change
    that:
    Log into the 5300 in Manager mode (aka Admin)
    type "config" /goes into config mode
    type "ip multicast routing" /sets up IGMP routing
    type "router pim" /sets up Protocol Independant Multicast routing
    type "vlan *" /where * is a VLAN numeric ID
    type "ip igmp" /sets up IGMP routing on that VLAN
    type "ip pim" /sets up PIM routing on that VLAN
    Repeat those last three steps for all necessary VLANs
    type "exit" /to get back out of config mode - you may have to do
    that more than once
    type "wri mem" to save the config changes
    Then go out to any other switches in the network path for multicasts
    and login in Manager mode
    type "config"
    type "vlan *" /where * is VLAN numeric ID
    type "ip igmp" /turns on IGMP routing
    Repeat those last two steps for all VLANs that need it
    type "exit" /to get back out of config mode - you may have to do
    that more than once
    type "wri mem" to save the config changes
    That's it and it meant I went from "Session Master not found" to "New
    Image successful". I hope it helps somebody.

  • Alternative router settings to replace hh4

    Hi all
    I have recently purchased a Cisco rv220w router to replace my home hub 4. I have tried and tried but can't seem to get the router to receive an internet signal. I have used pppoe and changed the user name to that of my home hub.. I think one issue might be that my new router is asking me for a password and the hh4 doesn't have one?
    Any one on here had any luck or can share some advice about using an alternative router? Would a call to bt help?

    Just to confirm, are you on Infinity or adsl broadband. If on adsl broadband your new router does not have an adsl modem it is only a router and that would be the reason it won't work.
    If you are on Infinity I presume you are connecting through the Openreach modem as your router does not have a VDSL modem built in and would not work with out the Openreach one.

  • WRV200 Unable to set static default route

    In my case i should use the wrv200 as a router with static routes.
    A tried to set up a route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.1.254.
    I did not get any error messages after clicking the "save changes" button, but it does not work and it can't be seen on the routing table.
    I think that it is not a missing feature! That must be a bug!
    Could anybody help me please?

    I can not do that because the default gateway parameter belongs to the wan interface, which is connected with the router at the vineyard over vpn and has the ip 172.16.1.1 if I try to set here 192.168.1.254 it says:
    "The gateway should be in the same subnet as the interface" or something like that with the same meaning.
    I did not post but i use the firmware version 1.0.39

  • Trying to Set Up Linksys Router

    Hi, I have a Linksys router and used to have an IBM. I know have the PowerBook G4 and I am trying to set up the router in my house. The Linksys installed CD is not supported by Mac, nor their customer support. I need step-by-step instructions on how to set up the router in my home. Thank you.

    I assume you are connecting to the internet through an ISP/DSL service. If so,
    1. Connect your router to the modem, and then your Mac to the router via ethernet. I am not sure what the set up would be for Airport as I do not have Airport on my G5. This should work for an ethernet connection.
    2. Open the Network preference pane Show Built in Ethernet. Then click on TCP/IP and configure for Using DHCP which basically sets your mac to automatically connect to the router/modem/internet.
    3. the click on the Ethernet choice and Configure Automatically.
    Now use your browser and set the address to 192.168.1.1 which is the address of the web page in the router. Check your documentation for the default password, etc. When you get to the basic set up page, you will have to enter your basic Internet Connection Type, your online user name and password, which you should know from your service provider.
    Once those are set you should be able to connect. Be aware though that depending on your service provider, some of these settings made need to be different. I am on Earthlink with a Linksys WRT54G router and these settings work for me.
    Hope this gives you a steer in the right direction. And by the way, when setting up with my PC laptop, had lots of problems. When working only with my Mac, it was almost plug and play to connect via the router/modem!
