How can I set up auto respond for email?

    Hey there jimmac169,
It sounds like you want to have the Mail app automatically reply to emails that come in. You can do this in the app itself, but in order for the function to work, Mail needs to be open. Take a look at this info from the following article:
Mail (Yosemite): Reply to, forward, or redirect messages
Automatically reply to or forward messages
Mail must be open before it can automatically forward or reply to messages. If you want to send automatic replies when Mail isn’t open—like when you’re on vacation—check with the provider of your email account.
Choose Mail > Preferences, then click Rules.
Click Add Rule, then type a name for the rule.
Indicate whether any or all of the conditions must be true for the rule to be applied.
Set the conditions that determine which messages to automatically reply to or forward.
Choose options from the “Perform the following actions” pop-up menu.
Forward messages: Choose Forward Message from the first pop-up menu, then enter the email addresses where you want to receive the forwarded messages. Click Message, then enter any text you want to include with the forwarded message. For example, you could explain that you’re automatically forwarding messages.
Reply to messages: Choose “Reply to Message” from the first pop-up menu, click “Reply message text,” then enter your reply. Mail includes the full text of the original message in your reply.
    Click OK.
Carefully consider the rules you create. If they’re too broad, messages can be sent inadvertently or create loops (replies to replies you sent). If possible, test the rules.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Cannot set where to save new email

I am not able to set to which folder to receive new email. Support sayes"
    Menu location: Tools | Account Settings | <account name> | Server Settings | Advanced
First, Account Settings is NOT under Tools, but under Options. Second, there is no Advanced under Server Settings.
    Please help.
    Thanks

    RE: where is Account Settings?
As you have discovered, more recent versions of Thunderbird were changed by the developers into a non intuiitive product by hiding all the toolbars.
I consider this a rather naive approach to an assumption that everyone understands this.
Help usually refers to the toolbars as there is considerably more tools available within them.
So, to make life easier, I recommend that you enable the toolbars.
    '''How to enable Toolbars:'''
click on 3bar menu icon > Options and enable the toolbars.
    see image below.
'''Various methods to access 'Account settings'.'''
    Using toolbars:
    Tools > Account Settings
    Using 3 bar menu icon:
3bar menu icon > Options > Account Settings
Right click on account name in folder Pane and select 'Settings'
Instead of actually changing where the emails are downloaded to, you could first try 'Unified View'
    View > Folders > Unified
This shows a single Inbox with all mail from all accounts in one folder.
It will also show sub Inboxes so that you can also locate the email in a specific account Inbox folder.
If you have an IMAP mail account, this is the method to use.
    '''Global Inbox Local Folders'''
If you have a POP mail account you can choose to either receive mail into the accounts own Inbox or to set it up as a Global Inbox and use Local Folders Inbox instead.
Do you want all incoming mail to be directed to Local Folders Inbox?
    If yes.
Do you use a POP mail account?
    If yes.
Have you already received emails into that mail account?
    If yes,
Go Offline to stop further download of emails.
Move all emails from the Pop mail accounts fodlers into the various Folders under Local Folders.
"Tools -> Account Settings -> Server Settings" for the pop mail account
click on the "Advanced" button - located under Message Storage area.
see image below. - recent version show a change in wording since I captured the image.
Select: Inbox for different account choose 'Global Inbox(Local folders)
select 'Include this server when getting new mail'
    click on OK
Click on OK to save changes to Account Settings.
    Close Thunderbird.
Wait a short while for processes to complete and then Open thunderbird.
You must close and restart before downloading mail into any account whose Inbox/Global Inbox setting you've changed.
This will remove the Pop mail account from the list.
New mail will be downloaded to the Local Fodlers Inbox.

  • Is there a setting (eg auto save) I have overlooked?

Thunderbird V31.1.1 Sometimes the same email will appear many times in the "Drafts" folder long after it has been sent, they mostly all have the same "created time"

From the menu bar select '''Tools-Options-Composition-General'''
The first check box is the auto save settings.
No menu bar? Press the alt key.

  • I can't remember the password I used to set up icloud nor the email I used to set it up with. I have my apple ID and email for that account.

I recently had to do a factory restore on my iphone 4s. Upon trying to set up my phone again I am being asked to sign into my icloud account. I can't remember the password or the email I used to set it up. I know my Apple ID, password and email for that account, but that doesn't allow me to get back into my phone. I can't reset the icloud password because I can't remember the email I used. Any ideas on what I can do please ?

  • Auto Save  the unsaved Data

    Hi,
We can set up your SAP System to automatically log off users with no activity after a specified period of time.
We can activate automatic Logoff by setting the system profile parameter rdisp/gui_auto_logout to the number of seconds of inactivity you want to permit.
If you activate this function, the inactive users are logged off after the specified period expires. The system does not save data before logging off the user. Unsaved data in the user session is lost. The system also does not display a logoff confirmation prompt.
Is it possible  to " Save "  the data before logging off ?
If No,  then why it is not possible?
    Thanks,
    Deepika

  • How and where to save the email attached files on iPhone 5?

how and where can I save on my iPhone 5 the files (mp3, wav, doc, jpeg, etc.) that come attached to the emails?...
    thanks a lot

Photos attached to an email can be saved to the Camera Roll in the Photos app on your phone. Tap and hold on a photo in the email until you get a choice to Save Image.
Other documents require a suitable app.
PDFs can be saved in the free iBooks app available in the App Store.
Word docs can be saved in Pages or other apps that support text files.
    Etc.
To save a document tap on the doc. You will either be able to view the contents or get a choice to open in some other app,

  • How do I set (or auto populate) the value of a modal dialog field using javascript?

I have a Modal Dialog on my SharePoint 2010 page the following fields: Your Name, Subject, Priority, Message.
It links to a list I have on the site. The second field, Subject, I want to auto populate it when the window opens, so the user can leave it as is or modify the subject. I want to set the field value using javascript.
I've tried setting the field with this code:
    document.getElementById('Subject').value = "Test";
    and also, this:
    setFieldValue('Subject','My custom value');
    Neither work.
How do I set the value of the subject field when the user first opens the dialog using javascript?
    Please help.

I am sure, you are looking at default field value of a list column(single line) in a modal window, if so please try below code
    <script src="https://code.jquery.com/jquery-2.1.0.min.js" type="text/javascript" abp="397"></script><script type="text/javascript" abp="398">
    $(document).ready(function(){

  • Can I save the email from thunderbird to my hard drive?

I learned recently that I could not pull my email from my web host. I have stuff going back 5 years and want to archive off the older stuff. Can I pull that email (also in this account) to archive on my hard drive?
    Dennis

Mail stored in Thunderbird's Local Folders account is on your local storage, i.e. your hard disk or whatever storage is available to you.
I don't understand what you're asking about "pulling" email. Why can you not get old stuff from your webhost?
And when you say Archive, are you interested in removing stuff from inside Thunderbird, or off your hard disk? Archive is a somewhat vague word and can be understood to mean several different things.

  • I'm not seeing the Auto Save and Versions features

I have a document open in Pages '09 and I'm running Lion, but I am not seeing the auto save or versions features that you supposedly get my clicking on the document name. Can someone help? Do I have to turn this feature on in preferences?

I'm actually working on a Word document that Pages has converted and opened, but the document does have a title bar name. So..I have to do a manual save before auto save will start working?!?
You don't have to do a manual save. Pages will auto save the converted Word document. If you quit Pages after editing the converted document without saving, Pages will reopen the converted Word document, give it a temporary window title of "Untitiled" and have saved your edits.
I did think I see a preference setting for auto save that wasn't checked in my preferences.
I don't think Pages every had auto save. Word does though, and this may be what you're remembering.
Also, how does all this auto save and versions stuff work…
Have a read of Apple's support document titled OS X Lion: About Auto Save and Versions. This explains both and how the two features are related but different.
NB While Pages auto saves new, untitled documents it doesn't create a Version of these documents.

  • Firefox can't seem to save sent emails in the "sent" box

Have sent two emails today - neither will get saved in the sent box and I get an error message saying:-
"There was an error saving the message to Drafts. Retry?"
But I wasn't trying to save the email to "drafts" - I don not know if the actual email has been sent.
Could this be related to the fact that today I changed my Virus Protection from BullGuard to Kaspersky? Can't find anything on K's control panel affecting emails!
    DavidW

I use Hotmail, or Live Mail as it is now called. Open to your e-mail and
log in. Look for your name at the top right. Press the '''Gear''' next to
your name, and select '''Options.''' On the right side under
'''Preventing junk email,''' select '''Filters and reporting.''' From the
    options, select;
'''Exclusive - Everything is sent to the junk email folder except'''
'''messages from your contacts and safe senders'''
Now and then, look at your Junk folder in case something turns up
that you want. You can always choose to add or remove e-addresses
    any time you want.

  • I cannot email photos i'm told the email and password are not set up how do i set up an account?

when i read how to join it tells me to go to iphoto then hit preferences.  but there is no iphoto to hit on

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it
    OR
IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Auto-save in Logic 8

    Hey Guys
I've been trying to find an option for auto-save in Logic (and to set how often it does this)... but I can't find anything...
Does it just do auto-save in the background? Or is there no auto-save feature?
It's easy to forget to keep saving in a long session and would be nice to know Logic does it for you!!
    Cheers
    Mike

I'm sure that Logic will never need auto save.
the reason is: Logic have a .crash save function...
it works great... (if you don't use 3rd party plugs with false Audio Units validation Pass.
I'm a Logic user from the Notator version...
    Auto save is dangerous...
the only usefull thing should a Fix with save before Crashing happen
Auto save is not "intelligent solution"
*Logic 9 should be comes with an intelligent way to save function that works ONLY WHEN AND IF NEEDED*
I'm sure that Logic 8.1 will solve the .crash issue with 3rf party plugs that are intentionally developed with only AU version bugs.
this is another of the "milion" fermusic ideas about sh*t auto save dangerous and *really obsolete* function
No Auto save... *vote for an intelligent way to automatic save function*
    (vote for fermusic )
Thanks... expacially focused to Bee Jay and Erik

  • I hit iPhoto send and I get: The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination. -- then can't get back to re-enter, which was correct one in first place.

I have filled out an iPhoto "postcard" format with a message and photo, etc., and when I hit send, I get the message "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination." I hit OK but it does not clear to refill the log-in -- and I believe the info was correct to start. I'd like to save (and not have to re-crete) the card, but see no way of doing so, thus am fearful of closing it (for good).

in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it
    OR
IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Auto Save - Lost My Homework - Power Outage

Help - I am brand new to Mac - I love my new iMac 24", but the power went out tonight as I was in the middle of my homework assignment. I was using Pages to write my report and had not saved in the last 30 min's. I lost everything I had done! Can you tell me how to set a auto-save function so if I have another power outage, I won't lose all my work again? If Mac's don't have this feature, is there 3rd. party software that will do this? If a PC can do this, I know a Mac can do it, but I just don't know how to turn that feature on.

    Rick,
I believe there is no such feature in Pages. And a Web search recently did not uncover 3rd-party s/w for Mac to do this, although I did see a link to someone who had written a script for it. All in all, I'd say for the moment it's easier to train ourselves to be paranoid and hit Apple-S every few minutes :o)
