Setting up different ipod models/owners on same computer

My husband has an ipod shuffle. I just purchased an ipod nan. We are both new. We have most different taste in music but there is some overlap.
What's the best way to organize our itune libraries? should we have separate libraries (how do you do that) or should we share but then do both ipods get all music. We don't know how to define mine and his stuff.
Thank you

Everybody has different preferences--whether to let the player load automatically or do more hands-on manual syncs. Here's how I do it for two minis, a nano and a shuffle. I have all of these players set to update manually. I have a very large library (over 31,000 songs and I like to have everything in one library so when I search for a song I know immediately whether or not I own it). The owners of the various players in my house make playlists of songs they want on their players. (We keep all of their playlists in Folders with their names on them.) When we want to update the music on the player, we plug the player into the computer--make sure iTunes recognizes it--and then pull the new playlist on top of the player and let it sync. If we want to delete songs, you'll see everything on the player when it's plugged in and you can delete songs that way. There is a way to tell the player to sync only checked songs--so I think you can uncheck playlists and the songs will be removed during the update process but I've never tried this so I don't know if it actually works. Since Nanos, Shuffles, and Minis don't hold very much music--it's pretty easy to manually delete songs that I no longer want on the player.
For my shuffle especially, I usually erase everything and start with totally new music every time I sync.

    - Disable autosyncing: go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods ...syncing">
    - Connect the iPod and go to the music, apps and other panes for the iPod and check the boxes that say only sync the checked items.

  • Sales breakdown of different ipod models?

    hey guys,
does anyone know where i could find info about the sales breakdown of different ipod models in the UK?

    Thank you for your reply.
The ipod shuffle user's manual on page 4 says that "to use ipod shuffle with a windows pc you must have: itunes 5.0 or later (itunes 6.0.5 or later is recommended)".
Her disk comes with an itunes version (or so it says, I haven't got that far as to download it yet). I wondered if it would affect my songs. Thank you for letting me know that it won't.
I'm thinking that maybe installing her software on my computer is not such a good idea since it doesn't have the ability to manually monitor what will be loaded on it. Will all my songs automatically download to hers? (Sorry if I seem dense, but I only know how to run mine & I have mine set to manual control.)
I think we should just install this on her Dad's computer.
Since like I said before I don't know anything about the ipod shuffle.......will her songs all get automatically downloaded or deleted according to what she has in her library on what ever computer we actually install it to? (I hope you understood that, since I'm not sure what to actually ask yet)
As far as the email support........yes I actually did think that after spending over $300 for my ipod and whatever they spent on hers that somewhere on the Apple website that there would be a way to actually ask the company a question and get a simple answer in return. But getting an answer from you knowledgable forum members is probably better than the runaround I would get from Apple anyway. Thanks!!

  • HT1351 I have a new iPod Touch......I was able to successfully set up a new account, but I want it to be separate from the 800 songs I already have in my iTunes library.  How do I set up a separate library on the same computer?

I have a new iPod touch; I have an iTunes library of music for an older iPod shuffle.  I'd like to set up the iPod touch for my wife with a separate library of music - I was successful in setting up a separte account, but it seems my 800 songs are still there in the library.  How do a set up a new account on the same computer without bringing along all the music that will clog up her iPod touch?

  • How to set Different applications running on the same computer to use different Gateways?

    Dear All,
I would like to have different applications running on the same computer to use different Gateways (both gateways are in the same subnet).
Is it possible in Windows7 with / without a third-party utility?
    Current scenario & requirements:
I have two internet connections. Both are in the same subnet (192.168.1.0/24) and connected to the same LAN switch
Gateway for the first connection is 192.168.1.1
Gateway for the second connection is 192.168.1.2
I need to set my chrome browser & google talk to use the gateway 192.168.1.1
I need to set my IE & skype to use the gateway 192.168.1.2
Is it possible? Answers are appreciated!!

    Anees

    Hi,
I agree with Bill. Gateway is essentially an IP address for one network to other networks. For example, you have two networks: network A and network B, to make the two networks communicate with each other, you must go through Gateway. That is, as long
as you set Gateway, then you can make the two networks communicate with each other. The ip address for Gateway is the ip of device with routing enabled. One host machine can own multiple gateways.

  • How do I set two different beat measures in the same project, e.g. 2/4 and 3/4?

you can't, GB is restricted to a single time signature per project
however, the time sig is really more cosmetic, it doesn't affect the way the project plays back, so you could set the project to 2/4 when working on the 2/4 parts, and 3/4 when working on the 3/4 parts

    M Parker,
Yes, since you are trying to keep things separate, that is exactly what you would do.

  • 2 Ipod's on the same  Computer ?

Does anyone know if it is possible to have 2 ipod's on the same computer? I want to have a different library for each one.

I received the following info from Apple Support because we have a mini and the new 5th generation that we sync to our Mac. Hope this helps.
How to use multiple iPods with one computer Do you want to use more than one iPod with the same computer? You can! In fact there are a couple of different ways you can do it.
    Method One
If you share your computer with other people, the simplest way is to maintain separate user accounts on the computer for each person and his or her iPod. This is useful if everyone has different musical tastes; each person gets to maintain his or her own personalized iTunes music library, and can customize the iPod with his or her music.
    Mac OS X users:
See " Mac OS X: How to Share a Computer with Other Users" to learn how to set up additional user accounts.
    Windows users:
Look in your computer's Help documentation to learn how to set up additional user accounts. To locate this information, do the following:
    1. Click the Start Menu, and then point to Help or Help and Support.
    2. Enter new user in the Search field.
    3. Press Return.
If you create multiple user accounts on one computer but want the same music to be available in iTunes for all users, see "iTunes: How to share music between different accounts on a single computer ."
    Method Two
If one person wants to use multiple iPods on a computer, or you don't want to create multiple user accounts to support multiple iPods, you can set iTunes to update each iPod with only certain playlists. This way, you can put all your music on, say, your iPod photo and keep just your workout music on your iPod mini. Here's how to do this:
    1. First, create a new iTunes playlist for each iPod that contains all the music that you want to send to that particular iPod. Learn more about how to create playlists here .
    2. Then configure the iPod Options in iTunes so that each iPod gets updated with only your selected playlists. Learn more about how to send certain playlists to different iPods here .

How do I back up two different iphone5's on the same computer or same itunes/icloud account?
I'm afraid one phone will end up with the other person's cell phone ap's and information on it...since this happened once before.
How do I save them separately but also keep the ability to share the same account music, aps, etc.
I'm wanting to back up the phones so we can download the new operating system next.

    - Disable autosyncing: go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and check the box that says "Prevent iPods ...syncing">

You would need two seperate users on the computer. Then each library would be independent of each other. Or do you mean two seperate iTunes store accounts?
