Setting up Discoverer in Portal for 9iAS 1.0.2.2

Hi,
Can someone point me in the direction of some documentation on deploying the Discoverer portlet?
I have implemented 9iAS 1.0.2.2
Thanks ,
Matmas

If you have e-business suite then it's likely you have Oracle support too.
I'd give them a call to get hold of the zip file you are after. I can't locate it anywhere on our site for you to download.
cheers

I want to use my Mac desktop as a portal for viewing my cable television via some kind of cord. Is this possible and what do I need to set this up?

It can be done with analog but not digital thanks to "good 'ol" HDCP copy protection which apple (and most other manufacturers) unfortunately respect.
So you can take the analog output from your cable box (component -- 5 cables -- if it has it but generally they all have composite -- 3 cables) and feed it into some kind of converter or into some appropriate pci card for your mac pro.  But none of them are going to let you directly use the HDMI output from the box to your computer.
Bottom line, no single cord is going to work and it will never be the higher quality digital picture you get on your tv.
Some qualification:  There are boxes that I think support hdmi input.  Look at Blackmagic.  But I still don't think you can get around the HDCP from the cable box (might depend on the kind of cable box).

  • Is there any way to set global language as english for users  in portal

    Hi,
Is there any way to set global language as english for all the users  in portal (for all the screens, applications etc) irrespective of browser settings, language in jco, user settings in backend .
the reason why i am asking is we are implementing global implementation project and for some users in switzerland because of their browser is not english they are getting language other than english.we dont want to ask each user to change their browser language.we just want to force the portal to display content only in english
    Thanks

    Hi ,
    You can add property  'request.mandatorylanguage=<your_language>'
    and property  'request.mandatorycountry'
on file 'prtDefault.properties' located in :
    ..server0\apps\sap.com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\portal\system\properties\prtDefault.properties
    Then restart the server.

  • How do I set the default welcome page for PUBLIC user

    gurus,
    i'm using -
    Oracle 9i Database
    Oracle 9ias Portal Release 2
QUESTION => how do I set the default welcome page for the PUBLIC user.
i did the following to achieve this -
    1. logged into portal
    2. clicked on builder
    3. clicked on administer tab
    4. selected PUBLIC user in the Portal User Profile portlet
    5. went to the preferences tab
    6. in the default home page selected a custom page group
    7. logged out of portal
    8. open a new browsere session
    9. type the portal URL and i get the login page ....??
i'm unable to understand this behavior ... shouldn't i be getting the page group that i set for the PUBLIC user in step 6 above ....
the second QUESTION is => when the user logs out he/she should see the PUBLIC page set in step 6 above ... but, instead the user sees a page that is as follows -
Partner Application Name Logout Status [Logout Status]
    Oracle Portal (portal) logout status
    The SSO Server (orasso) checkmark
    buzz.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
    infrastructure.happy.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal1.buzz.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal2.sylvester.resva.trw.com checkmark
    sylvester.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
so, how can i set the default page for the PUBLIC user and also a page when he user logs out.
    ideas anyone ....?
    thanx a bunch.
    hero

    Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
    Hope it clarifies the things.

    Ved

  • Set-up with different urls for login server and mid-tier

The desired external host names are the following:
    Portal -> http://www.myportal.com
    Login Server -> http://www.login.com
The real (internal) host names are the following:
    midtier -> midtier.xyz.com
    infrastructure-> infra.xyz.com
How should the Oracle HTTP Server, Login/SSO server, portal be configured with this type of set-up?
In particular, what should be in the httpd.conf, dads.conf, mod_osso.conf files and which values should be passed to the ssocfg and ptlasst scripts? Does the DAS url need to have the internal or external host name?

How should the scenario described above be integrated into the instructions below? $HOSTNAME may refer to the internal or external midtier or infrastructure machine name. Which should be used?
Assume HTTPS for the login server --> https://www.login.com.

Subject: How to configure SSL with Portal 9.0.2
    Type: HOWTO
    Status: PUBLISHED
    Content Type: TEXT/PLAIN
    Creation Date: 25-OCT-2002
    Last Revision Date: 16-JAN-2003
PURPOSE ------- This note explains how to set up SSL with Portal. There are several ways to configure SSL with Portal. This note uses SSL only between the browser and WebCache. The communication between the Webcache/Apache or PPE/Webcache is done in HTTP. This installation is a lot less CPU extensive than a full SSL configuration. Please note the configuration outlined here is not currently certified for Portal 9.0.2; however, it is fully supported by Oracle Support and Development. This means that this configuration was not tested by the Portal QA Department within Oracle. The difference in the QA test was that all components of the configuration were in SSL mode. SCOPE & APPLICATION ------------------- This note is intended for Portal administrators. This note is based on Unix. The Windows NT configuration is very similar. HISTORY ------- Version 1.0: SSL with a Unix shell script Version 1.1: Comment about the Webcache HTTP port How to configure SSL with Portal 9.0.2 -------------------------------------- Step 1 - Prerequisite --------------------- A. Get a SSL certificate ------------------------ IAS v2 is given with dummy certificates. You can use them. If you wish to use real SSL certificates, follow a note to configure SSL with Webcache like : - Note 161863.1 - Configuring WebCache with SSL - NT/2000 - Note 165305.1 - Configuring WebCache with SSL - Unix B. Password of the database schemas of portal --------------------------------------------- You need to have the passwords of the following database users: Database user Your passwords ---------------------------------------------- portal orasso orasso_ps orasso_pa These passwords are normally randomized during the installation of IAS V2. To find them, please follow one of these notes: - Note 206514.1 : IAS 9.0.2 : How to get the portal passwords to run the PTLASST script (Windows) - Note 199633.1 : Script to determine orasso password in 9iAS 9.0.2 on Unix - Note 205984.1 : Script to determine orasso password in 9iAS 9.0.2 on Windows C. Ports -------- During this installation, you will need to know a lot of ports of IAS V2. Please collect this information, before to begin. You can see the port list by going to the homepage of the midtier and of the infrastructure web page and clicking on the tab Port. You can also read the file portlist.ini that resides in both ORACLE_HOME in the directory $ORACLE_HOME/install. Here is the list, you need: Name of the port My port numbers Your port numbers --------------------------------------------------------------------- Midtier Web Cache HTTP port 7783 Midtier Web Cache HTTPS port 4459 Midtier Web Cache Admin port 4000 Midtier Web Cache Invalidation port 4001 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Infrastructure Oracle HTTP Server port 7784 Infrastructure Oracle HTTPS Server port 4460 Infrastructure Internet Directory(non-SSL) 4039 --------------------------------------------------------------------- D. Backups ---------- You should take a backup of your IAS installation in case that you want to revert all the changes done here and/or if you make a mistake during the configuration. The only good way to do a backup of IAS 9.0.2 is to have a full backup of the both ORACLE_HOMES of the Infrastructure and of the MidTier. Step 2 - Configure Portal to run in SSL --------------------------------------- 1) Edit the Webcache configuration Go to the administration port > http://hostname:web_admin_port/ > Typically http://hostname:4000/ Login: administrator/administrator Go to General Configuration / Site to Server Mapping -> Change the rule WebCache SSL - HTTP SSL -> Below the title Select "Application Web Servers" -> Check the checkbox with HTTP -> Uncheck the one with HTTPS -> Submit On the top of Webcache admin screen, press on <Apply the changes> Then restart WebCache. 2) Edit the dads.conf (in $MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplql/conf) Add a new line in the DAD: <Location /pls/portal> PlsqlCGIEnvironmentList REQUEST_PROTOCOL=HTTPS,SERVER_PORT=4459 Where 4459 is the HTTPS port of the MIDTIER. 3) Modify the web.xml of the portal application ($MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/applications/portal/portal/WEB-INF) Add several parameters to the page servlet (PPE). [...] <servlet> <servlet-name>page</servlet-name> [...] <init-param> <param-name>useWebCache</param-name> <param-value>true</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>useScheme</param-name> <param-value>http</param-value> </init-param> <init-param> <param-name>usePort</param-name> <param-value>7783</param-value> </init-param> </servlet> [...] Where 7783 is the HTTP port of Webcache. Step 3 - Run the PTLASST ------------------------ Because of bug 2659809, we will remove an entry in OID before to run the PTLASST script. This entry will be recreated by PTLASST. Because of bug 2654938, we will reconfigure Webcache after PTLASST. Run this script, and modify the environment variables with the values found above. This scripts does 3 things: 1) It configures SSO/DAS to run in the infrastructure HTTPS port 2) It configures Portal in HTTPS mode, and associates Portal with SSO in HTTPS. 3) Restart OC4J and HTTP processes of the MIDTIER and INFRASTRUCTURE - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - portal_ssl.sh - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - export INFRA_ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/infra902 export MIDTIER_ORACLE_HOME=/u01/oracle/product/ias902 export INFRA_SID=iasdb export MIDTIER_SID=ias902 export PORTAL_SID=$INFRA_SID export PORTAL_TNS=iasdb export MIDTIER_HTTP_PORT=7783 export MIDTIER_HTTPS_PORT=4459 export WEBCACHE_INV_PORT=4001 export WEBCACHE_ADM_PORT=4000 export INFRA_HTTP_PORT=7784 export INFRA_HTTPS_PORT=4460 export OID_PORT=4039 export EM_PORT=1810 export PORTAL_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORASSO_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORASSO_PA_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORASSO_PS_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export HOSTNAME=machine.domain.com export IAS_PASSWORD=ABCDEFGH export ORAENV_ASK=NO export ORACLE_SID=$INFRA_SID . oraenv unset ORAENV_ASK echo '******** PART 1 - SSO IN SSL **********' export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH export PATH=$INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin:$PATH export PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/bin:$PATH # This step will change the URL used to login by default for # all partner application cd $INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/sso/bin ./ssocfg.sh HTTPS $HOSTNAME $INFRA_HTTPS_PORT # This step add a new partner application to SSO. # It associates the new URL used by OIDDAS with SSO. cd $INFRA_ORACLE_HOME/sso/lib java -jar $ORACLE_HOME/sso/lib/ossoreg.jar -host $HOSTNAME -port 1521 -sid $INFRA_SID -site_name ssl_$HOSTNAME -success_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/osso_login_success -cancel_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/ -logout_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/osso_logout_success -home_url https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/ -start_date 08012002 -admin_id oracle -ip_check false -config_mod_osso true -oracle_home_path $INFRA_ORACLE_HOME -u root -sso_server_version v1.2 echo '---------------------' echo 'Change the URL of DAS' echo '---------------------' rm das.ldif echo 'dn:cn=OperationURLs,cn=DAS,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext' > das.ldif echo 'changetype:modify' >> das.ldif echo 'replace:orcldasurlbase' >> das.ldif echo orcldasurlbase:https://$HOSTNAME:$INFRA_HTTPS_PORT/ >> das.ldif ldapmodify -h $HOSTNAME -p $OID_PORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w "$IAS_PASSWORD" -f das.ldif echo '******** PART 2 - PORTAL IN SSL **********' echo '-----------------------' echo 'Delete an entry in LDAP' echo '-----------------------' ldapdelete -h $HOSTNAME -p $OID_PORT -D "cn=orcladmin" -w "$IAS_PASSWORD" "orclApplicationCommonName=PORTAL,cn=Portal,cn=Products,cn=OracleContext"

Webcache has no way to limit the use of a port to a specific machine or IP address. This is not a real issue because the goal of SSL is not to avoid that people access your server but that people intercept the data sent between the browser and the webserver. But in case that you/your customer is very sensible about security and want a webserver with SSL only (what is very rare), you may want to add a firewall in front of Webcache to block the HTTP port. • Why is it not possible to write a UIX (or ADF) portlet for 9iAS?

    Hi,
I have been trying for months to create a UIX/BC4J portlet for 9iAS but have been unsuccessful. The documentation and examples cover doing this with JSPs (there is a nice Forum application available for download on portalstudio). However all of my attempts to use UIX have hit a brick wall - we want to use UIX, not JSP!
I have raised a TAR on Metalink and it has been going back and forth for several months. The support analyst has finally closed it in frustration because he cannot even tell me whether it is possible, let alone give me an example! I have investigated the JPDK and all of the UIX documentation I can get hold of, and have also looked at the ADF components in 10g, and the "Java Portlet Wizard" for Jdeveloper, but they are so far all dead ends. Can anyone help me, or explain why it is that a (to me anyway) SIMPLE and LOGICAL integration of two Oracle frameworks is impossible.
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve -
Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions...
    Andy,
Yes, this is exactly the issue. Currently I am
invoking the UIX servlet not as a registered portlet
but as a hard-coded URL link on the portal page. Are you saying that in order to access the UIX application, the user clicks on a link which navigates out of Portal? If so, is this by design, or did you go this route because of problems creating a portlet for your UIX servlet? That is, would you prefer to have your UIX application run inside of Portal as a portlet, or do you explicitly not want this?
Also, can you provide more background about your deployment environment? In particular, is the UIX application running locally on the same machine as Portal, or remotely on another machine? Is the UIX application running in the same application server/servlet engine as Portal?
The application runs connected to the database but
without the context of the SSO Portal user. I want to
be able to display the Portal username on the uix
pages, have the VPD context in the database
connection (we have striped the tables but it only
works if connected via Portal!!) and potentially have
access to some of the extended Portal functionality
in the JPDK (this last one a "nice to have").Unfortunately I have no idea whether this is possible, so I'm not going to be much help on my own. The best I can do is try to track down someone who can actually speak to this issue. However, given the lack of documentation and the fact that you weren't able to get a solution through support, I wouldn't be suprised to find that this type of integration simply isn't supported yet.
I think you mentioned in the TAR that you had seen support for similar integration with Struts. If you know of documentation which shows how to do this type of thing with Struts, could you point me at it?
    Andy

  • External SAP Portal for Bidders in SRM 7.0

    Hi All
In the strategic sourcing Business Scenario, we need to enable the bidders to submit their bids from outside the network firewall.
    Some questions in this regard:
    1) Should we have a separate portal for the bidders ( from the one used by the employees inside the firewall) for security
purpose?? Earlier I had seen a different URL for SAP enterprise portal for external vendors at a client place. However not sure if it is a single Portal instance or two separate ones.
    2) Do we need to install a SAP Web dispatcher in the DMZ as suggested by SAP in the SRM 7.0 security guide for the external portal? Could we simply make the Enterprise portal available outside without setting up the DMZ
    3) Since portal is role based, the suppliers won't be able to access anything else, then the process bids screen. What are the other security concerns if the same portal is shared between employees and suppliers?
    Regards
    Kedar

    Hi
Bidding always happens in your SRM System, although External partners execute that activity. It really depends on your security policies whether you want to give them http or https access...

  • Assertion Failed - Dump when clicking on the links from Portal for WD Comp

    Hi,
We have a WD Component which is integrated to the Portal . When we click on the link in the Portal for the first 2 times, the selection screen is shown correctly ( when debugged, the program stops in WDDOINIT method before the sel.screen is shown).
When we click on the link for the third or fourth time with no time gap, it shows a dump. This is the dump I am getting.
    Runtime Errors         ASSERTION_FAILED
    Date and Time          01/06/2011 10:13:58
    Short text
    The ASSERT condition was violated.
    What happened?
In the running application program, the ASSERT statement recognized a
situation that should not have occurred.
The runtime error was triggered for one of these reasons:
    - For the checkpoint group specified with the ASSERT statement, the
activation mode is set to "abort".
    - Via a system variant, the activation mode is globally set to "abort"
for checkpoint groups in this system.
    - The activation mode is set to "abort" on program level.
    - The ASSERT statement is not assigned to any checkpoint group.
    How to correct the error
Probably the only way to eliminate the error is to correct the program.
If the error occures in a non-modified SAP program, you may be able to
find an interim solution in an SAP Note.
If you have access to SAP Notes, carry out a search with the following
    keywords:
    "ASSERTION_FAILED" " "
    "CL_NW7_VIEW_ELEMENT_ADAPTER===CP" or "CL_NW7_VIEW_ELEMENT_ADAPTER===CM004"
    "DISPATCH_NW7_EVENT"
If you cannot solve the problem yourself and want to send an error
notification to SAP, include the following information:
    1. The description of the current problem (short dump)
To save the description, choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    2. Corresponding system log
Display the system log by calling transaction SM21.
Restrict the time interval to 10 minutes before and five minutes
after the short dump. Then choose "System->List->Save->Local File
    (Unconverted)".
    3. If the problem occurs in a problem of your own or a modified SAP
program: The source code of the program
    In the editor, choose "Utilities->More
    Utilities->Upload/Download->Download".
    4. Details about the conditions under which the error occurred or which
actions and input led to the error.

    Hi Guru,
It is not readable the way you posted and that might be the reason that you do not get reactions.
Can you please confirm the following.
    1. Is this problem occurs  with out portal when you run the application standalone in SAP GUI.
    2. What is going on wddoinit method or wddomodify method, any  resource handling there ?

  • How to set a variable in portal session using web dynpro java.

    Hi,
I have created a web dynpro application, which is running inside portal. I have created a role called "R1". Inside role R1, i have created 3 workset W1, W2 and W3. and inside each workset i have some pages and iviews.
My requirement is when user logins to the portal , and when he clicks on role R1 for the first time, a login page should come (so that we can do revalidation), and when he enters his password again in that login page , then only workset W1, W2 and W3 should be visible/accessible to him and after successful revalidation, if he clicks again on role R1, in that particular portal session, than that login page should not come.
for this, i thought i will set a variable in portal session, whenever user successfully revalidated himself, and if after successful revalidation he clicks again on role R1, i will check in doinit method of webdynpro whether variable is set or not (which i already set on successful revalidation), and if it is set then i will do Donavigation else i will present login page to the user.
Can anyone tells me how to set a variable in portal session using web dynpro java.
    thanks
    Arush

    Hi,
    Try this:
    WDScopeUtil.put(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE, key, value)
    WDScopeUtil.get(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE, key)
    Ex:
    WDScopeUtil.put(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE,"Key1","Value1");
    String value1=WDScopeUtil.get(WDScopeType.CLIENTSESSION_SCOPE,"Key1").toString();

  • Unable to set session in Oracle Portal useing reverse proxy

I have deployed a reverse proxy (using Oracle HTTP Server) in front of a Oracle Portal Install (version 10.1.2.0.2). The steps followed to set this up came from the following documents:
Steps mentioned in Section 9.2 Configuring a Reverse Proxy for OracleAS Portal and OracleAS Single Sign-On for a reverse proxy on a Oracle HTTP Server.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_15/core.1012/b13998/variants.htm#ASTED005
Also performed steps mentioned in -> Section 5.3.7 - Step 7: Enable Session Binding on OracleAS Web Cache of the Oracle® Application Server Portal Configuration Guide 10g Release 2 (10.1.2) -- B14037-03.
My current (example names shown only)setup details are as follows:
Reverse Proxy for SSO server (running on internal.oracle.com:7777): proxy.oracle.com:7777
Reverse Proxy for Portal server (running on internal.oracle.com:7778): proxy.oracle.com:7778
With the above steps completed, I can successfully use the http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/pls/orasso for login into SSO without any issues.
    Users get authenticated successfully.
I can also use http://proxy.oracle.com:7778/pls/portal for viewing pages on the portal fine . All self referencing links have also been successfully modified to point to proxy.oracle.com:7778.
However, an attempt to login in the portal is not successful. Clicking on the 'Login' link successfully redirects to the SSO login page (http://proxy.oracle.com:7777/<login-page>). However, after successful authentication, the success page fails to show up and the user gets shown the initial login portal home page again.
There are no error messages shown on the screen. But it seems that user session is failing to be initiated/set correctly, as shown by the log file (in $PORTAL_ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/OC4J_Portal/application-deployments/portal/OC4J_Portal_default_island_1/application.log ):

    Hi Chris,
The begin of the expection stack gives you the reason:
06/11/03 09:13:59 java.sql.SQLException: The method 'setSavepoint' cant be called when a global transaction is active
The reason is, that either the whole global transaction must be commited or rollbacked.
I don't know your actual configuration, but between the methods begin() and commit()/rollback() of the UserTransaction instance, OC4J/OracleAS uses a global transaction (= XA transaction) in your configuration. The state of a global transactions is completely under the control of the application server and several restrictions must be considered. One of them is, that you can't use the method setSavePoint/. E.g. you can't also call the method setAutoCommit(true) in this state, or change the transaction isolation level via setTransactionIsolation(newLevel).
This is NOT a limitation of the OC4J/OracleAS but is true for ALL application servers.
P.S. I can successfully set savepoints and rollback to savepoints in weblogic 9.0This means, that WebLogic 9.0 doesn't use a global transaction in this case.
Because I don't know your configurations (Oracle and WebLogic) I can't say, why the behave different in this situation.
    Best,
    Manfred

  • How safe to go for 9iAS in Windows.

    Hi Guys
Good Day Guys? We are planning for Migration from 6i to 9i with 9iAS. How safe is it to go for 9iAS? What are the major problem faced during migration?
    Thanks for your help
    Diogo

I would like to add couple of things - based on my recent experince.
We have a client/server 6i forms/reports application running on Linux and Solaris, which I have recently ported to iAS 10g (9.0.4). My biggest issue was the fonts and icons, but the entire application (more forms , less reports than you have) took only a week. Still have problem with the graphics - still depends on the 6i graphics :( -- most of the charts are now in reports. There are some "form properties" that are obsolete now, and on linux non of the vbx, etc is supported. I am not sure that applies to the windows version of iAS.
You should also consider licensing. If you are licensed for full stack of iAS EE (includes forms/reports services), then you better utilize single sign on (for added security) and portal, etc. I really liked the portal capabilities. If you only licensed for the Forms/Reports services, then you have no other option (and no headache for sso, infra metadata repository, etc) by default.
For training, I took some courses from Oracle. One of them was the iAS administrator I course. In that particular course, they do not teach deploying forms at all. And if you only deploy Forms/Reports services, I don't thing the iAS administrator II (second part of the course) will not worth the money - they have a CD based offering for that and I think for ~400$ that is a better deal. I was able to deploy our forms/reports on iAS with not too much of a problem (after reading the manuals and white papers from OTN/Metalink). If you are licensed for full stack, then Portal class is really nice - I highly recommended (I can even suggest a particular instructor if you are interested). Oracle also has a class teaching how to develop java by using JDeveloper. That might be very useful for your java programmer/s - given that JDeveloper is now free and includes Oracle Application Development Framework. Even if you are not going to use the full stack of iAS, knowing JDeveloper is nice to complement Forms applications.
Another thing is that certain version of Windows OS (2003 server) might be required to run Forms/Reports Services. There is a FAQ pdf file on OTN, also it a certification matrix is available on Metalink (if you have a valid CSI# you can open an account on Metalink).
    hope this proves useful.

  • Creating system in portal for the backend SRM

    Dear All,
We are in the process of setting up a system  in portal for the backend SRM system
I have tried to create system in System admin--> System configuration --.>System landscape
For SAP Web AS Connection , the parameters maintained are:
    Hostname : <FQ hostname>:8000  ( 8000 is the HTTP port for ICM)
    Web AS path: /sap/bc/webdynpro
    protocol :8000
But test is failing as 'An HTTP/S connection to http://xxxxxxxxx::8000/sap/bc/webdynpro was not obtained successfully; this might be due to a closed port on the Firewall:
    test details:
    SAP Web AS Connection
      Test Details:
The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Checks the validity of system ID in the system object.
    2. Checks if the system can be retrieved from the PCD.
    3. Check whether a SAP system is defined in the system object
    4. Validate the following parameters: WAS protocol; WAS host name
    5. Checks if the host name of the server can be resolved.
    6. Pings the WAS ping service; works only if the service is activated on the ABAP WAS.
    7. Checks HTTP/S connectivity to the defined back-end application
      Results
    1. The system ID is valid
    2. The system was retrieved.
    3. The system object represents an SAP system
    4. The following parameters are valid: Web AS Protocol (http) Web AS Host Name (bhidfwao06.ent.bhicorp.com:8000)
    5. The host name bhidfwao06.ent.bhicorp.com was resolved successfully.
    6. The Web AS ping service http://bhidfwao06.ent.bhicorp.com:8000/sap/bc/ping was pinged successfully.
    7. An HTTP/S connection to http://xxxxxxxxx::8000/sap/bc/webdynpro was not obtained successfully; this might be due to a closed port on the Firewall.
Is there any problem with the port, I doublechecked and the port for HTTP is 8000.
If I give the Web AS path: /sap/bc/bsp  test is successful.
    Any pointers please?

  • How to set a favicon in portal

    Hi,
could anybody tell me where to set the small icon beside a URL or beside Portal favorites? Where can I set this favicon? In the Theme Editor?
    Thanks and best regards
    Markus Armbruster

    Hi Markus,
as far as I know there is no setting in the Theme Editor to set up a favicon icon for the portal.
In Wikipedia you will find a nice <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Favicon">article</a> on favicons. There you will find a detailed description how to set up favicons for web servers.
If it comes to the SAP NetWeaver Portal things get a bit more complicated. But have a look into this <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=199216">thread</a>. Darell explains the option you have got pretty well.
    Hope I could help!
    Best regards,
