Setting Up Driver for Canon IR 3220

I'm trying to set up an IP printer with my iMac and am having no luck with the driver. I downloaded the driver and tried adding it in Printer Setup Utility and it won't recognize it. I've heard this is difficult to do but I don't know what else I could be doing to make it work. Any insight?? Thanks!
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

For the iR C3220, there was three print controller options. You had the internal Canon board and two EFI 'Fiery' print controller options. As each is slightly different from the other you need to know which one you have before installing a driver and adding the printer.
For the Canon board, you either need to use the Canon PS driver (now v1.70) or the Canon PPD installer.
The Canon PS driver doesn't support AppleTalk, so you will need to have an IP address set in the copier and have LPD enabled. Then on the Mac, to add the printer after installing the driver, you open Printer Setup Utility, click Add then More Printers. Select Canon IP (PS) from the list and then enter the IP address of the iR C3220. For the queue name you can leave it empty or have LP. When you OK this window, the driver will be automatically determined by querying the printer. Now you should be okay to print a test.
If you have an Intel Mac, the Canon IP (PS) will not appear if you are using a version of the Canon PS driver prior to 1.60 (which is Universal). So make sure you get this version or later.
If your iR C3220 has a Fiery attached, you will need to get the appropriate driver for the model you have. The driver consists of an OS X installer package which will add all the necessary files and PPD to your Mac. Both Fiery's also support AppleTalk, LPR and RAW, but they have to be enabled if they aren't already. A config page for the RIP will show you which protocol you can use.
One important point if you use LPR/LPD for the Fiery option. You need to enter a queue name, 'print' is the preferred, and it needs to be entered in lower case. Failure to do this will mean your jobs will never print.

  • Missing raw file driver for Canon S90

I miss raw file driver for Canon S90. The software delivered with the camera works, but it doesn't work in finder, Aperure and so on, just in Canons own software. When will the driver be available for SL?

Apple hasn't said anything about it, but they're always quiet on everything (I think this works to their advantage for new products, but it works to their detriment for product updates.)
Anyway, they recently released the latest Camera RAW update and surprised a lot of people by not including the S90. Adobe had problems with the S90 -- images would "load" but looked poor. I can only guess Apple also had problems and decided to push it to a later date rather than hold up the whole stack of RAW camera updates people had been waiting on (typically they release an update with support for a list of cameras).

  • Windows 7 64-bit driver for Canon Digital Rebel XT

How do I interface my Canon Digital Rebel XT with a computer running Windows 7 64-bit?

You are correct.  Canon does not provide a driver for Windows 7 64-bit.  You have to change the communication mode in your camera and then use Windows Photo Gallery or other software to transfer the photos.  Here is the response that I received from Canon tech support (it works):
"To connect your camera to a Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer, you'll need to change the communication mode.
To set your camera up for this, please do the following:
With the camera disconnected from the computer, turn the camera on.  Press the "Menu" button.  Now select the [Wrench, Hammer, 2] tab.  Scroll down to "Communication" and press the "Set" button.
Select the [Print/PTP] and press "Set".  This process is more completely described (and illustrated too!) on page 121 of your Digital Rebel XT Instruction Manual.
Now connect your camera to your computer and turn the camera on.  Your computer should now recognize and have access to your Digital Rebel XT.
Unfortunately, Canon software cannot communicate with the Rebel XT when operating in this mode.
You may download your pictures using Windows Photo Gallery, or you may use a card reader to download images.  If you haven't already done so, you may retrieve and install this program from Microsoft's download.live.com."

  • Driver for Canon c5035i on Mac OSX 10.10

    Hi,
I am working on OS X 10.10 on  and I cannot connect to a Canon C5035i printer. I have downloaded each and every driver I could on the Canon website but the printer is not recognized. Even by pointing it with its IP address, the driver is not recognized.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks and regards
    Max

But when I try to print a document, it appears for 1 second in my printing list then disappears and no print is done...
This can happen when using the Postscript driver but the C5035 does not have the Postscript kit. So even though you can see the toner levels after adding the printer using the Postscript drivers, it does not mean it supports Postscript. To check if the printer has the Postscript option installed, you can go to the copier and press the Counter Check button. Then on the touch screen, press Device Configuration. You may need to scroll down a page or two. You will see the UFR2 option and possibly PCL. If you don't see PS then it does not have it. So in this case you would need to use the UFR2 driver. Here is a link to the latest UFR2 driver for 10.10.
If the C5035 does have the Postscript option then the other cause for the print job failing is the protocol being used for the print queue. The Canon drivers support the LPD and HP Jetdirect protocols - not IPP. And there has been some users who have found that the LPD protocol does not allow them to print, while the HP Jetdirect protocol has always worked. So if you cannot remember which protocol you used when creating the printer, then remove the printer and add again, selecting HP Jetdirect-Socket for the protocol.
The last thing that can stop the print job is Dept ID Management. This is a security setting in the copier that requires you to enter an ID/PIN to make a copy. If this is enabled for printing also, then you have to enter an ID/PIN for all print jobs, otherwise the print job will disappear. To check if you need to enable this setting, open Printers & Scanners and select the C5035. Then click on Options & Supplies and then the Utilities tab. Then click on Open Printer Utility. This will open the Canon Printer Utility for the respective driver. Here you will see a Printer Information button. Press this to open another window which will show if Dept ID Management is enabled. If it is, then it explains why you prints have been failing and you will need to configure the driver to use an ID/PIN in order to print. Reply if you need help with configuring the driver to use Dept ID management.
If there is no mention of Dept ID in the Printer Information window, and the C5035 does have Postscript kit and you did use the HP Jetdirect protocol, and it still fails to print, then please reply.

  • Printer Driver for Canon MX310

    Hi everyone,
Just made the switch to Mac on the weekend, and everything is running smoothly on my new SR Macbook so far. The only thing I'm having trouble with is getting the right printer driver set up.
I got the Canon MX310 with the rebate that came with my macbook, and it's connected to a PC running Windows XP. I have everything shared properly, and I installed the printer driver (onto my Macbook as well) that came on the CD with the printer. The problem I'm having is that I can't figure out where this printer driver is saved to on my Macbook!
I tried looking at all those drivers that come preinstalled on Leopard, but the MX310 is not one of them, and it doesn't seem that my newly installed driver shows up on that list.
I just can't find it, so I have selected the Generic Postscript Printer driver. Could someone please help me set this up so that I am using the correct driver for my printer?
    Many thanks!!

I USE THIS DRIVER WHEN PRINTING FROM A MAC TO A WINDOWS XP OVER A NETWORK FOR THE CANON MX310. CANON PIXMA MP150 - GUTENPRINT V5.0.2 FIRST YOU NEED TO GO DOWN LOAD THIS FILE http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gimp-print/gutenprint-5.0.2-ub.dmg?download INSTALL AND THEN WHEN INSTALLING THE PRINTER CHOOSE THE DRIVER I METION ABOVE.

  • How to install Windows 7 64 bit driver for Canon i9100 Printer?

When I try to install my Canon i9100 printer on my HP laptop running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Windows cannot locate a driver.  Visiting the Canon website, I find an update module for the Windows driver.  Canon says the printer MUST be installed using Windows Updater before their driver update can be installed.  I have tried everything, but I cannot get Windows to find a driver.  Windows Updater says that my computer is Up To Date.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you,
    David

    Hi Honeycutt,
The Windows 7 driver for your i9100 is only available from Microsoft through Windows Update.  Please try Microsoft's web page for assistance with troubleshooting this:

  • Can't use correct driver for Canon MF4140 USB printer shared by Windows XP

    Hi all,
I have a Canon MF4140 printer connected to my Windows XP desktop machine via USB. The printer is shared and I can see it over the network with my MacBook running OS-X 10.4.
I've downloaded the OS-X version of the printer driver from Canon, but I can't select it when adding the printer in OS-X, so I can't access any of the printer settings. I've selected the generic driver but that doesn't allow me to do double sided or 2-up printing.
Is this because the printer driver does not support network printing, as the printer doesn't have a network interface?

I guess this isn't clear on the iFelix page. To use any of the built-in network printing protocols on OS X, you must either have a postscript printer (postscript printers don't require a driver, just a PPD), or a driver that works with the CUPS system (a CUPS driver). So far, Brother is the only non-postscript printer manufacturer that provides CUPS drivers. For every other non-postscript printer, you need a third-party CUPS driver. Apple tried to get around this issue by including Gimp-Print drivers (open source CUPS drivers), but your model isn't in Gimp-Print. You can look around for other CUPS drivers, but Lexmark hasn't been cooperative with driver writers. Here are the CUPS driver sources:
    http://www.linuxprinting.org/macosx/
    http://www.easysw.com/printpro/
    http://www.printfab.net/
You may find it easier to share from OS X.

I am unable to install a software driver for a Canon film scanner FS4000US. I have downloaded it from Canon then open the package click the install and it asks for a location namely the Applications folder. Then it says it has been installed re -start etc, but still no driver.
I am using Mac OS 10.6. Any suggestions greatly received. I have repaired/disk and permissions and it still does not work.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "/var/log/install.log" from the file list. Post the messages from the last installation attempt, starting from the time when you launched the Installer or Software Update.
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
