Setting up email on 8320

I just got my 8320 in the mail yesterday.  Everything is working great except my email.   I do not have a business address, just my personal AOL emails. In the instruction book, it says that I should select "I want to create or add an email address" when I get to the Email Setup screen of the Setup Wizard. However, the only two options that appear on this screen are "I want to use a work email account with a Blackberry Enterprise Server" and "I want to skip email setup". How do I add my AOL addresses? Thanks!
ETA: I do have the $30/month data plan in place, and I can easily access the browser.  I use AT&T and I tried to set up the account on their website last night and it didn't work.

Can try going to Options | Advanced Options | Host Routing Table. Hit the menu button and choose Register Now. See if you get a registration message sent to your  device. If so reset your device by removing the battery for 30 seconds. Afterwarads see if you have the choice to setup a personal email account, or a seperate personal email setup icon to go into.
Alternativley you can try going to your carrier's BIS website on your computer and setup your email accounts

  • How can I set up email so I can send iPhoto without using a .mac account?

    Hello!
I am trying to send an iPhoto via email. Since I do not want to set up the .mac account yet, how do I correctly set the email send and receive perimeters? POP?
I want to use my yahoo email.
    Thanks!
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Thanks again Allan.
I figured out the AOL iChat LATE last night.
I finally got my email up and running. I called Cox to get the correct POP and SMTP addresses. It still wasn't sending, I spoke with Apple who confirmed I had all my perimeters set up correctly. Back to Cox. After a couple frustrating hours, the only reason the email was not sending was that Cox did not support the SSL that I had checked off.
The great thing about Mac (which I kept overlooking) was when I was trying to send my email, it was giving me hints for example the error message smtp.etc is not connecting with the SSL. I could have saved myself some trouble by unchecking that and testing it earlier.

  • I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great

I cannot send an email from my iPad 2? No problem receiving, why does this happen? Have tried the suggestions for setting up email and after doing the sync mail through iTunes receiving worked great but still cannot send? Any help would be great!

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

  • Problems Setting up Email on Curve 8520

I'm not able to set-up email on my new curve 8520. I know that other people have posted about it before, but I still can't seem to get it working!
I have BIS and have already created a Blackberry ID. Whenever I go to email setup, the only option I'm presented with is "I want to create or add an email address" and when I click next it says "After you click Next teh Blackberry Internet Service setup application opens. After you finish setting up yruo email press the menu key and click close". On the next page , I'm asked for my username and password, and when I fill it in, I always get:
"The information you provided is incorrect. Retype your user name and pasword."
I know that my username and password are correct, as I've double checked them in BlackBerry App World, so the issue has to be coming from somewhere else.
I've contacted Vodafone several times, and RIM but no one has been able to give me a solution for this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Heathermac, the username and password for setting up your email on your BIS account is NOT the same as your BlackBerryID... two very different and totally separate things.
You might want to make your BIS login the same as your BlackBerryID, that would be convenient and a good idea, but they are not the same. They are set up differently, and one does not carry over to the other.

  • PROBLEMS SETTING UP EMAILS AS DEVICE REFUSES TO RECOGNISE PASSWORD AND/OR USER NAME

PROBLEMS SETTING UP EMAILS AS DEVICE REFUSES TO RECOGNISE PASSWORD AND/OR USER NAME
My 9800 ( I have 2 - one spare )  is driving me nuts- will not let me set up email accounts from my other Curve model.
Repeatedly told that either user name or details are wrong, yet they are RIGHT on website.
    Exasperated
    Help please??
    Fair winds and kind landfalls

Thank you- I have read through that thread and can see some resonance with my issue.
My AOL emails work VERY fast with BB, in fact almost simultaneously received on PC & Torch " ping ping!"
This issue only raised its ugly head when I had 2 Torches replaced by my insurers.
Whilst the claim was in process I used a new Curve, loaded from backup on PC to keep emails going and of course phone & web facilities. ( I use the BB to power internet via bluetooth to my PC / laptop when living on a remote island with no phone lines or power supplies)  All was fine. Swapping email accounts took a few minutes with the usual password confirmations for each AOL screenname etc.
Then the new Torches came back from insurers, and I tried to swap devices. Phoning & texting is fine. Al data and contacts swap over fine.
SETUP email accounts.............stymied every time. It says repeatedly that my user name/password is invalid etc etc etc
Have tried security wipes. Have tried setting up new BB ID & passwords on PC website. All is OK until I try to setup emails on the Torches.  This has used up ridiculous amounts of time- all wasted.
I love the BB phones and the fast email push......in fact I recently bought a new Sony Xperia Z1 but sent it back because of wifi coverage meant no emails on that superb phone for lots of the time.
Good old BB I said..........I always get emails wherever I am. ( Rural Scotland has very patchy radio & wifi coverage)
Was about to purchase new Z10s just to get a bigger screen, but now I am averse to buying ANY BB phone again because this present mess means I may never get emails set up again.  How nuts is that?
Many thanks for all help & suggestions..........boy do I need them!!
Kind wishes from West of Scotland

  • How to set up Email in S60v3/5/^3 and bypass the N...

There are many threads on this board that all say the same thing and usually are about how Nokia Messaging or email is not working or syncing.
In an effort to have a base-line to assist with these, I have made the following tutorial to help users to bypass the Nokia Messaging (NM) as it is the auto-default to set up email on Nokia devices.
NM allows for “push” email, which will not keep you constantly online and will allow for marking your server email with what you have on your device.  Ie-if it is read on the device, it will be marked as read on the server, deleted, then deleted, etc.
When you bypass the NM, you will lose the “push” but you can setup most email as an IMAP4 which will do the same thing, and you can select what folders to sync, and how often to have them sync, not keeping you online.
This tutorial was done on a Symbian s60v5 device, and while some of the dialog may be different among devices, the process is relatively the same when bypassing NM.
Open the email client, select options
    Select Settings
    Select E-mail
    Select Mailboxes
    Options
    New mailbox
E-mal wizard will show up, tap Start
    Next screen, Preparing for installation:
If asked, allow to use network.  It will default to network to allow for set-up of NM.
If first time setting up email, this screen will show, “Welcome to E-mail setup”  after you have done it once, it may not show up.  Tap Start.
Enter E-mail address, then tap OK
    Splash screen
    Enter Password, then tap Ok.
    Splash screen
This is the screen where you can choose between the NM and the internal email client.  Aka, Terms of Service (on some devices you have to “agree”) (aka-TOS).  The default  is Yes! Activate my Nokia Messaging account, and if you have already set one up, it will say, “Add to my Nokia Messaging account.
You need to select “No Thanks.  I’ll check for new messages manually.” Or “Create a separate account that uses manual delivery.
    Splash screen
    Confirmation screen. Select Ok.
Your new mailbox may not show up in the next screen which is supposed to show all the mailboxes set up.  It is a slight glitch in some phones.  Just tap the back button and then mailboxes, then you should see it set-up in the mailboxes as shown.  Highlight your new mailbox and then select options to setup the settings of the email address.
You will need your inbound and outbound server settings and ports and securities if needed.  You should be able to google for the various email types and if it is a company email, you should be able to get this information from your system admins.
The following are just some screen shots so that you can see the process to follow.  While the NM will sync and mark messages as read the same in the inbox, if you set up your email as an IMAP4, it will do the same and sync all the folders on the server as well.  There is an option to for how frequent you would like your email to auto-sync, just as with the NM.  AND what days you would like it to work!
As there are older, the same, and newer versions of the Symbian and NM, this should help many people as least have the right guidance to bypass it if they wish and get on with consistent email service without using the NM.

I managed to set up an account manually on the C7 but I had to trick the email application by entering an invalid email address and password. After it could not find my account it then opened up all the settings and permitted me to add the manual IMAP settings, reply to address and other details. After I committed the settings, the phone recognised the account as a gmail account and it locked down all the settings again so I could not go back and change them if wrong.
I was quite chuffed with myself for seemingly resolving all my issues.....but on using the new account settings I could not sync the gmail sent / bin folders. All the other folders synchronised fine and when I send email it has the correct reply to address. Strangely this matches the best results I obtained when connecting using the Mail for Exchange settings so am no further forward. I am a little confused by this as when I let the phone set up the Gmail account on it's own it can sync everything.....but I just can't
I am now hoping that the new software update (PR1.2) gets email working a little better....well when I eventually get it hehe.

  • How to set up email account for 9360

    Hello,
I have problem on setting up my email account.. I have a hotmail account but I can't access it through my blackberry. At first I tried to set it up via set up-email account etc but I couldn't. Then I opened my browser, clicked on communication and then integrate hotmail but the stage doesn't''t open at all.It appears the message unknown error, please try again. Can anyone help me???

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It's a pity that all we have to go on is "but I couldn't"...error messages and step by step of what you try and what happens can be much more helpful in diagnosis. But, from what you describe, it sounds like you don't have an adequate BB-level data plan from your mobile service provider...so I recommend you ring them up (vodafone, according to your profile entry here) to sort this out.
    Good luck!

  • How to set up email notification

    Hi,
How can I set up email notification in AV 10.2.3? I have gone through the admin and auditor docs but could not find any mention of it. Was not able to find the navigation on the AV console either. Someone posted a documentation URL link in the forum back in 2007 but unfortunately the link was broken. Can someone direct me to the email configuration page?
    Thanks.

E-mail notification is not available as a feature in Audit Vault 10.2.3.1, the latest version available.
However, it is possible to set up e-mail notification for alerts with some coding. Each alert raised by Audit Vault is placed on a queue in the repository. This is a standard Oracle Advanced Queue, and can be subscribed to using AQ APIs in PL/SQL or, with the JMS adapter, in Java. Once a subscriber is up and running, it will pick up any alerts that are raised and can route them to e-mail if needed.
Sample code to do exactly this is provided in $ORACLE_HOME/av/demo/alert on the AV server.

  • Setting up email on my iphone

I am setting up email on my iphone.  A window came up stating it cannot connect, do I want to try without SSL.  I figure from some of the discussion out there I probably need SSL as a security for my iphone.  So..now I am at the part where it asks me for my name, email account, password.  I have typed that in.  A new page shows up with a button for IMAP and one for POP.  Under those buttons there are three sections.  the first section has my name, email address and a description.  The second section is titled Incoming Mail Server displaying HOST name, user name & password.  The third section is titledOutgoing Mail Server with the same information as the second section.  When I save a window comes up and says this account may not be able to send or received emails.  Are you sure you want to save?  Before now, I have entered this info several times before I came to you.  What is the Host Name?  It looks like one should be inbound emails and the other outbound emails.  Where do I get the Host name?

Iphones will automatically enter the correct setting when an account is created. delete account and add it back. It will ask for your email addy and password.

  • Please Read This if You Need Help Setting Up Email...

    Hi Everyone!
If you are hoping to use your Nokia phone for send and receiving emails you will need to set this up prior to use.
You may find that your phone has already been setup to send and receive emails by your network. This will be for the email address that has been provided to you by your network. If you would like to set up your phone for another email account, like your private or work email account, this will need to be set up by you.
The easiest way to do this is to order the settings from our site. You can do this from this link: Nokia Settings Page Here you can order all the settings you might need, to get your email settings click on Order Advance Settings and choose email when prompted.
Dont worry if you can't see your email provider in that list, if you have Nokia PC Suite installed you can connect your phone to your PC and configure your email account with some software.
If you have a 9500, 9300 or 9300i communicator you can go here: Nokia Configuartion Tool
If you have 3220, 6230i, 8800, 6810, 6820 or 6822 you can go here: Nokia Email Configuration Tool
If you have a series 60 phone like a 6680 or 7610 etc you can install the Settings Wizard from here: Nokia Settings Wizard. This application will attempt to configure your email settings for you. You will need a working installation of PC Suite to install this from your PC. If you are able to get the installation file on to your phone you will be able to install from there.
If your phone has not been listed in any of the above points, then unfortunately you will need to configure the phone manually. If you need to do this you will have to find out some basic information first:
    Your incoming server address
    Your outgoing server address
Do you require a secure incoming/outgoing connection?
    Do you need SSL?
Your email provider will be able to provide all this information, if you get stuck during the setup on what you should be entering for a setting, your email provider will be able to help you out.
Hope this is enough to help some of you out, any comments are welcome - just send me a PM.
    Cheers
    Karim
EDIT: Updated link to the phonesettings pageMessage Edited by ajak on 20-Aug-2007 04:27 PM

Road Runner is a pain at times to get to work on both Wi-Fi and EDGE. It seems as if their outgoing mail server doesn't like to roam. CWMX is ONLY for use on the cellular network, and if you plan on using Wi-Fi to send e-mails periodically, CWMX will NOT work.
My solution: Sign up for a GMAIL account, and forward your e-mails to the GMAIL account (provided POP access is enabled). Just log-in to this GMAIL account with your iPhone, and you'll get all your e-mails! If you need any help, let me know, I'll be glad to get you some directions.
