Setting Up Email On Blackberry Curve 8520

Trying to add an email account to a Blackberry Curve 8520 and it will not take it. Keeps saying incorrect email or password but the same login info works every where else. It is a @live.com email account. We were able to add a @live.ca without problem. How can we get the @live.com added?

Hi, yes you need a Blackberry Data Plan to use push email on the blackberry - get her to give her carrier a call and see what options they offer.

  • Impossible to set up email on Blackberry Curve 8300?

There seems no way to set up my email on this AT&T brand unlocked Blackberry Curve 8300.  I can get calls but in email "wizard" setup the only option is for a Blackberry Enterprise Server, which I do not have.  I just want to get my personal email when I am away.  (Maybe I'll just buy a new Kindle...) Is there a solution or should I just sell the phone?

    Cute.
Do you have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You must, in order to get the RIM push email functions you are looking for, as well as addtional BlackBerry data services such as the internet browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger, and much more.
So, call your carrier and inquire about having the BlackBerry Data Plan added to your account.
    Good luck.

  • Setting up email on blackberry curve?

Hi everyone, i am a brand new blackberry customer as of yesterday.  I am having a problem setting up my work email account on my blackberry.  My hotmail works fine though.  I am not too internet savvy, so maybe this is a stupid question.  My work email website is https://pop.asmnet.com
how can i get this to work?  also,  what is the easiest way to surf the web on the curve?
    thanks for the help

If your work email supports pop/imap protocol then integrating that ID is as easy as setting your hotmail ID. As BBsingh said plz let know exactly what kind of prompt you're receiving.

  • Email problems- can't delete email account and receiving emails twice: Blackberry Curve 8520

    Hello
I would like to remove a gmail email account from my blackberry. I've removed the account from my service books (deleted them) but I still receive emails from this account.
I also am getting emails twice from my hotmail account (my main account which I'd like to keep). I also only don't get the delete from handset- mailbox option, only delete or cancel.
    Grateful for any help.

Please try this FIRST, using your BlackBerry browser...
    • Go to mobile.blackberry.com OR to www.blackberry.com/integrate
    • Scroll down to Communication and then to Email.
    • Choose the appropriate email set up options.
If that works and completes your email setup/editing, good.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.
    Good luck!

Hi and Welcome to the Community!!
There's pretty much no diagnosing those -- they are the equivalent of the random errors in Windows for which tracing the root cause is fruitless. Basically, these are the last out in the programming code -- some event occurred for which there is no handler in the code. The fix is a code update that handles the event...but, again, knowing what the event is is pretty much impossible. So, there are a few things to try:
Sometimes, the code simply becomes corrupt and needs to be refreshed -- just like a reboot:
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If it won't boot up cleanly, then you may need to try Safe Mode:
KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in safe mode
There might be an updated code set from the carrier -- check them via this portal:
     http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
The toughest possible cause is a badly behaving app. To find it, there are a couple of options. One is to see if you can read the log file:
Go to the home screen. Hold down the "alt" key and type 'lglg'. (You will not see anything while you type). This will bring up the log file. Scroll down (probably many pages) untill you see a line that says 'uncaught execption'. Click on this line. The name of the app will be in the info. Alternative methods for bringing up the logs are in this KB:
KB05349How to enable, access, and extract the event logs on a BlackBerry smartphone
The other method is to remove apps one at a time, waiting a while in between (I usually recommend a week), until the problem ceases...thereby discovering the offending app. Still another method is to reload the BB OS cleanly, leaving some time between adding other apps onto the BB so as to be able to determine exactly which one is the cause.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Blackberry curve 8520 buttons not reacting properly

I have just bought a blackberry curve 8520, I have put in my sim card, everything goes fine, but the keyboard was not reacting, only the roller in the centre, now i have seen the posts about taking it out and cleaning it,but I just cannot get it out, the more i try the more it looks like it is getting damaged. But anyway after fiddling around with it. I discovered if I hold the button on the left side of the phone(the voice activation button) then press the back button etc i can control it, and get to the different screens, but obviously this is not ideal. Does any one know how i can sort this problem out? I have gone to options and checked if it has been changed to do this on the keyboard options and it has not, the option is still set to voice dialing. Help Please!!!!!

    Hey ruang007,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
From what you have described this sounds like a hardware issue, I would suggest contacting your point of sale to review warranty and repair options.
Let me know if you have any questions.

  • Blackberry curve 8520 is not working/rebooting

since last week my blackberry curve 8520 is shut down and not rebooting, I have tried many time but when reboot it an error # 523 accour and set goes held, pls help me that How I can start it

    1) Make sure you have Blackberry Desktop Manager installed.
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop/
    2) On your PC, go to Start > Run and copy and paste the following line exactly (meaning with the quotation marks):
    "c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader\loader.exe" /nojvm
    3) The Application Loader Wizard will appear -- click "Next."
    4) In the "Connection:" drop-down menu, you should see "USB-PIN: UNKNOWN". Click the "Next" button.
    5) You should then see a list of applications ready to be installed for your Blackberry. Hit Next and Finish and you are well on your way to getting your Blackberry back to life. Congrats! Just don't disconnect anything and let the lengthy process finish completely.
NOTE: If you do not see a list of applications mentioned in step 5 and instead see the message "The Blackberry Desktop Software does not have Blackberry Device Software for the device that you have connected to the computer. Contact your wireless service provider or system administrator," then you must download Blackberry's Operating System for your carrier and device.
BlackBerry Device Operating System downloads: http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-device-specific/
Just select the appropriate device model from the list and download the latest version. Install this download and follow the above steps again and you should be on the right path.
IF the above does not work or help, You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:
    Download JL_Cmder http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-software/18789-jl_cmder.html
    or download BBSAK http://bbsak.org/download.php
If JL_Cmder does not work, you can try this:
    KB10144, http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB10144
    and this: KB20371 http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB20371

I am in Ireland so not sure what help I can get but I have a Blackberry curve 8520, I recently had to get a new one as my first one kept freezing, so as expected I had to setup up my email etc again, the only email option I have is the enterprise one, I have gone to advanced options and sent the registration message and it says my handheld is registered with the wireless network but I only have 2 things in my service book and when I went into the shop I bought it in they said there should be more than 2 options, that was a week ago, and still no change, can someone please help

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
It sounds like your mobile service provider has not properly shifted your BIS account from your old BB to your new one. I recommend that you go see them again, but this time don't let them fob you off...you PAY them for 100% of your services and 100% of your support...right now they are delivering neither.
