Setting up emails between HP Desktop & Ipad
I have been helping a couple sort out their new ipad. They have also recently purchased a HP Desktop and I can't get the emails to sync between each. What do I need to do to correctly set up - and also bring across contacts?

Sync email between verizon and ipad
How do I sync my verizon email btwn my HP computer, iPhone5 and iPad? Thx!
they unfortunately don't provide advanced email called IMAP. they use standard time traditional POP email access which doesn't have that sync capability.
You can instruct your mac mail client to leave a copy of message on server, but they will never "sync" as in you create a folder here, and it shows up there.
For me that's a deal breaker, fortunately Verizon email is free, so it's no loss for me to simply choose another free option. I like the outlook.com and Hotmail/Live email addresses, some people dig gmail. -
Problem syncing email between Iphones/ipad
We recently added a (shared) comcast email address in hopes of replacing our AOL email account. Now we have a few problems:1. How do we sync COMCAST email between our desktop, two iphones (4S and 5) and ipad so that deleting/reading/moving from one phone impacts everything? Per Apple we now have to delete all emails from Xf by logging in (so via our home computer), but deleting/reading from the phones has no effect on the other phone/ipad. I tried the url in "inflightgolf"s question & it's inactive.2. We can't send COMCAST emails from the ipad.3. Also our shared calendar events (phones, ipad) sync more slowly (sometimes not at all) than they did before we added the COMCAST email account, tho can't see how that would be impacted.
Thanks for trying, but I didn't really understand the terminology in your explanation. Tried calling COMCAST Tech Support but they didn't seem to understand the problem + their phone lines were full of static. We went back to the Apple Store and:1. The Apple tech was looked at our iPAD & caught a typo I'd made when entering our new email address - so now we can send emails from the ipad. 2. He also explained that unlike AOL, because of the way COMCAST/Xfinity's server works, we'll have to delete anything from our Comcast email account individually on each device (something about IMAP vs POP). I'm simplifying things by not reading email on my phone anymore, and just deleting everything from my phone every few days. At least I could now confirm to a friend with Comcast email that she can delete all the emails from her phone without worrying that she might inadvertently lose something she wanted on her computer. Wish we'd never shifted to Comcast email, of course, but it's a bit late now.3. Whatever the problem with the calendar was, no clue, but we're just being careful about scheduling things & I'm sure it'll work out. Again, thanks for trying.

You should check the settings for the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server for your Email Adress. You can find this under "Settings" - "Mail, Contacts, Calender" - "Accounts" - klick on your Account Name.
Now Check if this is corect:
Account Information
Name: Your Name
Adress: Your comcast Email Adress
Description: the name for the email account / could also be such like "Office"
Incoming Mail Server
Host Name: mail.comcast.net
User Name: your comcast Emial Adress
Password: Your correct password from the comcast Emial Account
Outgoing Mail Server
Host Name: smtp.comcast.net
User Name: your comcast Emial Adress
Password: Your correct password from the comcast Emial Account

iPhone email will always be up to date.
The iPad will update when it has internet connection. If it is a wifi only iPad, it will only update when connected to wifi, but will do so automatically. -

I use my desktop daily; laptop only when traveling. The laptop is somehow set to receive ALL messages, so I get messages that are several weeks/months old. I want to be able to manually sync and NOT have all of the hundreds of old, already viewed messages sent to my laptop. Actually, your mail isn't 'synchronizing' in the conventional sense at all. And, you are effectively trying to make it do so manually at the present time. As you have discovered, this simply does not work.
The only way that you can effectively address your requirements is to use IMAP—rather than POP3—technology. Using IMAP will allow you to readily control what is stored on the server, and will provide a view into that data store when you use your portable computer.
While is is possible to use POP3 and set one computer to delete mail from the server and the other not to, this is potentially fraught with problems, and will not fully address your concerns.
An IMAP option is available from such providers as Apple with .Mac, AOL with AOL Mail and AIM Mail, and Google with GMail. You can convert an existing POP3 account with such a provider to IMAP with little difficulty, or initiate a new IMAP account with such a provider and forward mail to it from providers who do not offer such an option. -
how do I verify my apple id? I can't sign in to it in mail and I can't make a new one because it just will not process I'm trying to set up iCloud between iPad and iPhone and having ALOT of difficulty pleAse help need it done by later on today!!!!!
In order to use your Apple ID to create an iCloud account, the primary email address associated with the ID must first be verified. To do this, Apple will send a verification email to your account and you must respond to the email by clicking the Verify Now link. Make sure you are check the spam/junk folder as well as the inbox. If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right click Resend under your Primary Email Address to resend the verification email.

If I use Entourage on my Mac desktop to access my mail using an email address I have on there, is it possible to access my emails on that same email address on my iPad, either with or without using Entourage. Is there an Entourage app, or something I could use? Thanks...
Simply add the email account to Mail, no need for Entourage.
One word of warning, though, iPads tend to become community property (meaning anyone who uses your iPad can access your email). That is why I have zero email accounts on my iPad.
I use Entourage on my desktop as well, so going back and forth between Entourage and Mail (whether on your iPad or iPhone) is no problem. -

You have to set up the email account using IMAP instead of POP.
What type of email address is it? Yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc?

I have a Domain name with email forwarding to my Service Provider which worked very well when I had a PC. Now that I have iMac I have changed the account type to IMAP from POP3 so I can sync. between iMac and iPad but how?
I do receive emails into my iMac for which I have 3 email accounts but am struggling on how synchronise between iMac and iPad so that both are up to date at all times. I have also set up a iCloud email account thinking this was the way to go but have drawn a blank.

I have set up my email address both within my iMac and my ISP as IMAP accounts and I receive all emails without problem on my iMac. I have also set up an iCloud email address using my iMac.
I have enabled the email within "setting" on my iPad and have used the iCloud account. I have sent emails from the iMac to iPad using the iCloud account address and vice versa. I have also sent emails from the iPad to the iMac using my non-iCloud email address and they have gotten through.
The one thing I would like to have is for the iPad "mail" mailboxes to mimic the iMac "mail" mailboxes and both to be "in sync". I am not really interested in using the iCloud email address for my email but would really like to use my "normal" addresses as these are what most people know me by.
Do I need to set additional accounts within the iPad which are the same as the email accounts I have within the iMac and my ISP? I have reached the end of my knowledge as regards email synchronsing.

How do I eliminate receiving duplicated emails among my desktop, iphone, and ipad? After I read and delete on one device they still appear on the other two devices so I have to go through and delete them all again on each device.
It all depends on how your e-mail provider talks to the iPad. Some allow a lot of control, others not so much. My Yahoo works seamlessly between my Touch, iPad and computer. My hotmail, however, won't show up as 'read' on all devices, i have to open it on each one.
Some e-mails will allow you to tweak those settings and let your device alter what's on the server, others won't.
What e-mail program/provider are you dealing with?
