Setting up exchange webmail in ipod

Hi,
I'm confuse about setting up my microsoft exchange webmail account in my ipod touch. Should I choose 'other' or 'Microsoft Exchange'? I've tried 'other', but it seems doesn't work. I need help about this. Hope to hear any feedback from anyone. Thanks!

Does your company/ISP support connection to the Exchange server via ActiveSync? If so, see:

If they only support Outlook WebMail, then you'll have to use Safari on your iPod to connect.

How do I set an email in exchange webmail? I have an iPad and iphone and was able to do so easily but not so for the MacBook pro. There is no place to put the domain nor do I know some of the required data like internal or external server.

What version of Exchange is your organization using. Mail support Exchange 2007 and later, if they are on an earlier version you are out of luck until they upgrade. If it is on 2007 or later I found this under Mail's help menu:
Syncing IMAP and Exchange 2007 accounts
With Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) and Exchange 2007 mail accounts, mailboxes and messages are stored on the server so you can access them from multiple locations or computers. Mail syncs the mailboxes on your computer with those on the server, ensuring that mailboxes on your computer reflect actions taken while viewing mail on the server, such as marking messages as read, deleting messages, or moving messages between mailboxes.
Before using your account offline, manually sync the account with your computer so you know you’re working offline with up-to-date messages.
To manually sync an account with your computer:
Choose Mailbox > Synchronize [account name] or, if you have more than one account, Mailbox > Synchronize All Accounts.
Mail copies all messages to your computer. Depending on how many messages you have, and the speed of your connection, this may take several minutes. To monitor the syncing progress, choose Window > Activity.
To be more specific about which messages and attachments you want to keep on your computer, select the account in the Accounts pane of Mail preferences, click Advanced, and then choose an option from the “Keep copies of messages for offline viewing” pop-up menu. Keeping copies of messages and attachments on your computer ensures they are included in Time Machine backups and improves junk mail filtering.
When you go offline, you’re disconnected from the mail server. Any changes you make to messages are also made to the copies of the messages on your computer. When you go back online, the changes are copied to the server.

Setting up exchange, step by step,and . . it . . does . . not . . work

I have an iPhone (not the new 3g). I installed 2.0 today. I can't get Exchange to work. I use Microsoft Outlook for my job, and I mainly would like to get my email remotely without having to open up a safari page on my iPhone, enter the login and password, and then go through a pretty cumbersome process to send and receive email. I never have issues opening up a safari page on my macbook, logging in, etc.
I feel like I'm doing things right when I attempt to set up a new account (below is a generic description):
Email: [email protected]
Username: Lindsay
Password: Mypassword
Description: [email protected]
Then I click "Next." It then says Verifying Exchange account information. Then I get this message:
"Unable to verify certificate. While automatically discovering account settings, the certificate from "bla.com" could not be verified."
I then get two options, accept or cancel. I click accept. I assume that this could be a problem right here, and perhaps not one associated with Apple or my iPhone, but perhaps with my work's server.
Then it says Enter your exchange account information. In the Server part, I enter mail.bla.com (which is the exchange address for my work), and click Next. It then says Verifying Exchange account information. Then it says:
"Unable to Verify Certificate. The certificate from "mail.bla.com for account "" could not be verified."
I get two options, accept or cancel. I click accept. Again, this step may be a problem.
It then says "Exchange account verified." That sounds promising. Then it says "Select info to synchronize using exchange." I only leave mail on and leave contacts and calendars off. I click save. Then I quickly get a notation at the top that talks about my account being "(null)" and then the message goes away within a second.
So . . . my bla account shows up in my accounts. My inbox, however, is empty and any attempt to write email does not result in an outgoing mail.
So does anyone have any suggestions?
Oh, and I signed up for mobile me, 60 day trial, in the hopes that that would I would be able to set up exchange to "push" email that way (as I thought mobile me was supposed to do), but that does not work either. In iTunes, I'm only given the option I'm given to sync are dot.mac accounts.
I'm a frustrated kid right about now. The tutorials really don't give much help in the way of setting up accounts; I'm not sure why

To manually install your server's certificate:
1. Make sure your IT department has allowed mobile access to your account on the server
2. Certificate for your domain (ie exchange.mycompany.com) the company I work for don’t use verisign or others so the domain wont secure when accessing remotely, to fix this do the following:
a. Go to your company webmail/exchange server using your web browser
b. Double click on the padlock in the bottom right of the screen, then:
i. ON FIREFOX – Click the security tab, then view certificate, then details, then export, and save it as a X.509 Certificate (DER), and make sure you type .der in the filename at the end (save it to your desktop)
ii. ON IE – click Details tab, Click copy to file, click next, choose DER encoded binary, click next, call it certificate.der, click finish (it will be saved to your desktop
c. Now send an email to another account on your iphone (you will need another email account already set up, so .mac, gmail, etc etc) with the .der file attached
d. Download the email and click on the attachment
e. Install the certificate (the iphone will warn you)
f. Re-install your Exchange account
This will fix the "Configured for sync (null)" message, but you may still have problems.
Also, don't forget to do your username as domain\user if your company uses a domain.

Exchange Webmail email format

I use Webmail for accessing my office email. We have exchange server for email.
When i forward any email the original email text is forwarded as attachment I would prefer the original text be included in the reply or forwarded text rather than an attachment. I do not have this problem when i access email from IE.
Please help me to fix this problem.

Look for an option or preference for that "feature" in that webmail portal software, '''while you're using Firefox'''. Some webmail software saves user preferences in Cookies in the browser being used to access their service; IE might have those Cookies, while Firefox may not - until you set your preferences again while using Firefox. Once saved, you wouldn't need to set those preferences again, unless you clear your Cookies.
If that doesn't solve your issue, you might want to look at the Exchange webmail help pages or contact their support to see how to "fix" that for Firefox.

If your Imac is connected to the same Lan as your Exchange Server he might be able to access the DNS record for the autodiscovery services (the url that allow outlook/entourage or modern smartphone to autoconfigure the exchange account).
If this url has not been made public by your IT staff, your iphone cannot resolve it.
Typically, the url for autodiscover is based on your address email domain, i.e. if your email address is [email protected] the url for autodiscover will be https://autodiscover.company.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
A good test is try to open this URL from a web browser (authentification may be requiered) from the imac and iphone then compare result. The expected behavior would be the display of an xml page with very little content (this is normal), if there is an http error or that the page cannot be displayed then autodiscover is not available from the network you are using.
If so you need to request from your IT the name of the ActiveSync Url to use, most company use the same as the webmail url, so if to access your wemail you need to go https://webmail.company.com, the name to use on your iphone would be webmail.company.com

I have read multiple posts on how to do this and I am still confused.
Apple ID/ICoud:
We want to be able to monitor what they do, but do not want their devices linked to our emails/contacts/etc... Each kid has their own email account. So, from what I have read the best way to do this is to use our family Apple ID, but set them up with a separate iCloud account? Is this correct?
Reset/Restore/DFU:
To start fresh we have done multiple factory resets. I did one that someone said was a DFU and a plan ol' factory reset, etc... Not sure the difference. However, when I do that I get the "hello" screen and am able to start setting the phone up anew. However, when I go to set the phone up as an iPod I end with the same result.
So, here is what I am doing (tell me what I am doing wrong):
Hello Screen
Asks me to select language and selecting: English
Select Your Country or Region: United States
Choose a Wi-Fi Network: select my home wi-fi network
Enter password: entered my home wi-fi network password
Activiate iPhone - wants me to enter Apple ID and Passwordsays that this iphone is currently linked to an Apple ID (k*******@gmail.com). Sign in with the Apple ID that was used to set up this iPhone.
Location Services - I have enabled location services
Set Up iPhone
Set Up as New iPhone
Apple ID
Options are to sign in with your Apple ID or Create a Free Apple ID
Or I could "skip this step"
I signed in with my Apple ID
Terms and Conditions - Agree
iCloud - I can select either to use iCloud or Don't Use iCloud - I selected use iCloud
Find My iPhone - I can select either to use find my iPhone or to not - I selected use find my iphone
Once I do this it says iMessage and FaceTime and shows the following:
my email
my other child's cell phone number
and my husband's work phone number
This is where things do not make sense. I only want the phone set up with the current child's email address. Where did I go wrong?

There are a number of Apple services: iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud, Game center, Find My iPad, etc.
Now, to share apps, music and books you need to have the same Apple ID:
iPad's Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID > Your purchasing Apple ID.
For the other service, your wife should have her own Apple ID.
All she needs is a valid e-mail address, apply Apple ID below:

Look into using Apple Configurator. It's the easiest way to "reimage" and Manage iPads that I know of right now.

I got exchange mail working. It seems issue is around "Push". I enabled "push", account verified & all worked well. After that I disabled push (I do not want it & to save mobile data use).
By googling, I found many have got it up & apple may fix it in it next iOS udpate.

Shuffle Setting doesn't work after iPod update

After I update my iPod software my shuffle setting seems to only work on about half of my music. Formerly, when I had the shuffle setting turned to Songs it worked on everything, but since the update when I go to certain Genres or Playlists instead of saying 1 of 237 and playing them at random, instead it says 1 of 1, or 1 of 5, and that's it.
I can work around it by going first to settings and turning the shuffl off, then playing my list, then going back and turning the shuffle on and then heading down to Now Playing.
Is there any way to get that setting working normally again?

I had the same issue and worked around it the same way you have (start playlist, then select shuffle songs). I don't know if this will apply to you, but here's what I discovered. I had some tracks set to Skip when Shuffling, in my mind thinking those songs would be skipped when I shuffled the entire library, but I didn't realize that it would also skip those songs if they are in a playlist and you are doing Settings, Shuffle, Songs. (As opposed to the setting that Shuffles the whole library.)
Example: I have a playlist of Celtic songs, which I want to skip when I shuffle my "main" music library. But when I play the Celtic Playlist, I don't like to hear it in the same order every single time. I like to switch it up. So I'd put Settings to Shuffle and select Songs. And on my Playlist, it would say 1 of 1, instead of 1 of 27.
Check it out. I thought it was worth bringing up since your situation sounds so similar to mine.
(By the way...I continue to use the "work around" as you mentioned, so that I can still Shuffle my "main" library, which I don't include Celtic in.)

Eg: using transaction FB01.

Standard message: F5 061 : "Balance in local currency " & " is too large for automatic adjustment".

You can maintain the permissible percentage of exchange rate deviation in OB64. while posting the document, the exchange rate entered manually should be within the rate mentioned in OB08 +/- the devaition percentage specified in OB64.

You can:
enter another key
delete the entries before entering the new entry
The entries flagged for deletion can then no longer be reactivated.
End the error dialog with Cancel. Choose Save and repeat your new entry.
reactivate the entry marked for deletion to change it :
and return to the overview screen with Back.
Choose Display deleted entries in menu Choose to select all the deleted entries.
Mark the entries that you want to reactivate.
Choose Retrieve.

If you can't add it automatically, you probably need some help from your company's helpdesk. It would be best to contact them because they may have some settings that are specific to their environment.
