Setting up fax and voicemail on same phone line.

I have one phone line with voicemail and fax.  How do I set up the fax so voicemail doesn't pick up my faxes and the fax doesn't pick up my voicemail messages?  I have the fax and phone going through a splitter.  I just discontinued my separate phone line I used for faxing and internet and want to use a single phone line for everything.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.  Auntalee

If you have Verizon Home Voicemail (the kind you access by dialing a phone number i.e. no answering machine) I can't see how it would work.
Some fax machines can answer the phone listen for the fax tones and if it doesn't hear them it rings another phone or answering machine connected to it.
It comes down to something has to answer the phone, figure out what kind of call it is a route it to either a answering machine or a fax machine.
The only other way to do it with one line and Verizon voice mail is to get something called Distinctive Ringing service (if its available for Fios).  You get another phone number but not another physical line.  The one phone line rings differently for each number.  The fax machine must then have the distinctive ring feature and be setup to only answer it's ring.  The other ring it ignores which means VM will pick it up.
Good luck

  • Two routers on same phone line

From my main router I have no wireless signal in one part of the largish house. To resolve this I added a second router in that area (on same phone line).  My Ipad could be attached (separately) to both.  However, my actual phone seemed to stop working.  Was this wrong?

as imjolly has said, you can't plug 2 routers onto the same phone line.
There are some alternatives that may help.
You could use power plugs and attach the main router (that's connected to the phone line) to the power plug by ethernet then place a wireless router to another power plug in the building by ethernet to enable wireless in that part of the building.
I'm no expert, so please correct me if I'm wrong

  • Fax and Voice use same DID - SIP/CUBE

Is there any good way to have inbound Fax and Voice calls use the same DID?
I know there used to be a Fax Onramp TCL script, but I thought that was for TDM circuits (T1-PRI).
In this scenario, the PSTN comes from a SIP provider to a CUBE router. The provider does support T.38.
Call flow is: Remote Fax machine -> PSTN -> SIP Provider -> CUBE ->SIP -> CUCM (or Fax server.)
Ideally, I would like to send Fax calls directly to a 3rd party Fax server without going through CallManager (using dial-peers).
I'm hoping there is some secret SDP message that says "This is a Fax call, route me to the Fax server".
    Thanks, Randy

    Hi Stephan,
there are several timeouts and timings on voice ports which you can try out to "speed up" your disconnect but from my experience fax machines have an internal timing they need to get ready again - for example it needs often ~30sec to make a second ingoing fax after receiving the first one. For outgoing faxes the machine has usually a buffer where it stores the pages till the line is ready again. So it depends on the type & brand of fax machine you use, doesn't it?
Notice that some timeouts don't work since you control them with UCM (eg. ringing timeout => should be no answer config on line configuration)
    show voice port 2/0:
Initial Time Out is set to 2 s
Interdigit Time Out is set to 10 s
Call Disconnect Time Out is set to 60 s
Supervisory Disconnect Time Out is set to 750 ms
Ringing Time Out is set to infinity
Wait Release Time Out is set to 30 s
Hookflash-in Timing is set to max=1000 ms, min=150 ms
Hookflash-out Timing is set to 400 ms
Furthermore I would suggest you to use actual 12.4(24)T release since i hade several problems with the 12.4(25c).

    Christoph

  • I bought my iPhone from apple, had ATT, then changed to Verizon.  Shouldn't I be able to unlock it from Verizon and use the same phone on an ATT account?

i bought my iphone 4S from apple while i had an att account, then changed to verizon with the same phone.
verizon said they unlocked the phone from their network so i could return to att, but the iphone 4S won't recognize the att sim card.
is there anything i can do to use this apple store phone purchase and return to an att network?

    Thank you.
    I'm a little muddy tho...it's not a verizon phone,
not bought from or through Verizon, but at the Apple store.
    Does that make any differerence?
On the original box, it says that it supports CDMS & GSM
I spoke with Verizon this morning.
They re-activated the phone to the verizon account,
    unlocked it, and released it.
Should this make any difference at all?
My thinking to purchase the iphone through Apple
was not to dedicate it to either ATT or Verizon network.

  • Can I replace my land line with an iPhone and keep the same phone number?  Thanks.

Hi,  Can I replace my land line with an iPhone and keep the same AT&T phone number?  Thanks.

    Hi
There are always some wrinkles in this kind of change.  If you have a home security system like ADT they require a land-line for their system to work.  This less of an issue in apartments and condos - it's mostly a "house" issue.
Before you make the switch (and there may be a switching fee) just make sure you cover all the bases.
    Cheers

  • Wireless routers and surge protector with phone line ports

I cannot connect to the internet when I use my surge protector phone line ports.  I have the line from the wall in the in port and the other one in the out port but status light on modem doesn't light up and no connection to internet.  Is it my surege protector?  Do I need to do something else?

I assume the system works fine if you bypass the surge protector.   I will also assume that you are not plugging in your DSL phone line on the "in port" and then plugging in an ethernet wire on the "out port" of the surge protector.  Your surge protector cannot convert a DSL phone line signal into an ethernet signal.  This is the job of the DSL modem.
Assuming you are going through the surge protector phone line to phone line, or ethernet wire to ethernet wire, then it means that either the surge protector is broken or you have a bad wire.  Try a different wire.  If that doesn't work, return the surge protector.

  • Exchange and MobileMe on Same Phone

I've read several topics on here and I'm confused and it sounds like some people are making it work and some are not.
I have an iPhone 3G with the updated software, a mobile me account for home (e-mail, address book, and iCal on the mac that syncs to the iPhone automatically). I also have an exchange server at work.
I can successfully set up both e-mail accounts on the phone and work back and forth with little problems (there's still some lag with mobile me messages deleted on the phone showing up later but I can live with that)
Address book - I only want to have my home mobile me address book on my phone and that's working fine too.
Problem is when I add the exchange calendar I am unable to add new entries to the iCal sync stream (if I add it to the phone it gets deleted at the next sync, if I add it to the computer at home it never shows up on the iphone.
It sounds like some users have it working but no one is real clear on how. I'd rather not involve other in between things (google, third party paid apples, etc).
I understand that my calendars will still be seperate and I can not merge entries - that's fine. I understand I can not download my exchange dates into iCal at home- that's fine too. I just want to be able to use the phone to view/schedule events on exchange (and have them show up on exchange at work) and use the phone to schedule/view ical events and see those at home and on the phone.
There should be an easy solution?

I'm not sure if we are having the same problem but maybe we can put our heads together. I have Mobile me. I just started working at a company that allowed me to sync company Email with my iphone using exchange. It would not work until I made the mobile me inactive. I can not use mobile me and exchange at the same time. Is this the same problem you are having?

  • I can not log in to my account even after re-setting my password and id. Same thing on my iphone.

My iphone will sync but apps do not open. I can not log into my account through my phone or my mac book even after re-setting it. Very frustrated right now. Also, even though there are new versions for both my phone and itunes, neither will update.

Go to the log in page, but select '''''I FORGOT MY PASSWORD'''''.

  • TS1702 indicating 2 locations on and off for same phone with find friends

what causes the find friends ap to show same person in two different places?

My 4s i-phone which is 2 years old cannot find any wi-fi networks not even my home network... I had the same problem two months ago but i turned off the i-phone for 8 hours and then it was okay... Now it happened again.... I tried to restart the modem but whilst my laptop is connected regularly, my phone still cannot find any wi-fi networks... I restart the i-phone, i reset it, i chose reset network settings, reset all settings, i turned it off for a whole day in case it was overloaded, i turned on the airplane mode and turned it off again, i put it into the freezer for 10 minutes within a zipped bag but 3 days now and i still cannot be connected to my home wifi... I went to the technician today and he told me that it means that wi-fi is broken and that i need to change it with a charge of 70 euro but i have to give my phone for 10 working days so as to be fixed... I am so frustrated and i don't know if i want to give 70 euro for wifi since i don't know if it would make the same problems again...

  • How do I Sync Contacts with Windows Live and Exchange on same phone?

    Hello,
We use Exchange 2007 at the office for our corporate email. I also use Windows Live for personal email. Everything works great from the iPhone. I'm able to get both Exchange email and Live email via "push" on my iPhone.
My question surrounds how to sync my Windows Live contacts to my iPhone. Can anyone guide me in getting this achieved? Right now, the only contacts getting synched are those in Exchange. Note that we use IMAP and not POP3 for Exchange. Not sure that it makes a difference.
    Thanks.

To achieve this, you need to export your Windows Live address list to an XML file.
Go to people.live.com, select Manage followed by Export. In iTunes, you can then select to sync the XML file.

  • Working with SD and HD on same time line

Ok here is another one for anyone who can help me. I am editing a project on Final Cut Express 4 and the majority of my video is file SD stuff. I have new elements shot on HDV. My question is the "old" stuff is 4:3 and the HD video is 16:9 is there an effect I can use to make the "old" video look close to the HD video? Letterbox? Obviously I do not want to stretch the SD video.

If you edit in an HD sequence, the SD material will be scaled up greatly and look pillarboxed. If you edit in an SD sequence, the HD material will scale down and be letterboxed.

  • CCA and different MOH per phone/line

Is there a way, using CCA, to configure MOH groups?
I've got 2 clinics, each with their own DID but sharing one UC560.  I've split the DN's so that clinic 1 is on x300-399 and clinic 2 is on x400-499.  Can each DN range have it's own MOH?
    Thanks.

    Hello James,
You can refer to this support forum post about MoH limits and such: https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3086136#3086136
There is also a link in there to the CLI configuration, but I'll put that here in case anyone else stumbles across this post: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucme/admin/configuration/guide/cmemoh.html#wp1022742

  • Apple USB Modem, receiving a fax, and ethernet network

I am wondering whether the Apple USB modem will allow me to configure an intel Imac such that the iMac can be connected to a network via built-in Ethernet (all, other iMacs) and simultaneously receive faxes with a phone line connected to the USB modem. I have looked for this topic and come up empty … any help out there?
    Thanks

    Thanks for responding.
I am trying to set up receiving faxes for incorporation into medical records. I have purchased an Apple USB modem but have not been able to figure out how to configure the modem to answer the phone (or to show up in fax/print set-up window).
I have a cable modem that is connected to a router for internet connectivity. The rest of the work stations (all iMacs) share our office software via the built-in ethernet configured in Network of System Preferences. Also within preferences, external modem is "configured, but not connected". When I try to use the configure option, I am prompted for information that I don't have or need for connecting to the internet. Clicking the Modem button displays the type of modem and other general info. Applying these settings leaves the modem "configured, but not connected". Under printer-fax set-up, I have everything filled in but when I choose the Set Up Fax Modem button, nothing shows up under Fax List. I have the very same phone line connected to the modem that was connected to my fax machine (and switching it back allows the fax machine to work).
I am running OS X 10.4.9 and have seen some threads regarding faxing issues that may be present in this version. I will try the 10.4.10 update to osee if this solves the problem but would welcome any other suggestions.

  • Small Office fax problem through verizon phone line

Instead of sitting on the phone for 3 hours I figured I would try this first. I have a small office with Verizon internet and phone. I have one phone line, a credited machine, a computer and a 4 in one print scan fax copy. I was just wondering if anyone knew witch of these devices are supposed to be connected directly to the phone ports. Im having a problem sending out faxes after another employee moved around wires. Please and think you for any help! Or if you suggest me posting this some where else please let me know.

There is no standard way to determine what is connected directly into the phone line.
Here is my 2 cents though.  Generally a fax machine is connected directly into the VZ Phone Jack and a phone will connect off the fax machine.  The reason for this is in case a fax is being sent or received the fax machine will block the phone port so your landline phone will not interupt the fax transmission.  I'm not sure if the credit card machine does the same with it disconnecting your phone line so credit card transactions don't get interupted when transmitting.  If so then you can plug the credit card machine into the fax and then hang the phone off the credit card machine.  The phone should be the last one in line.
