Setting up Googlemail account on iPad

I can log into my googlemail account through Safari but I can't seem to set up the googlemaIl account through the iPad so it is linked to the mail icon. When I try to set up I enter the user name and password but it says invalid user name or password. If I go to Safari, I can log in no problem. Does the initial setup through iPad require something different or additional?

I'm very close. When I set up as an Exchange account, I enter the Gmail user name and password and click next. I get "unable to verify certificate. The certificate from .gmail.com for account xxx.gmail.com could not be verified. Click cancel or accept. If I accept, it let's me enter the server as m.google.com and it appears to set up the account but the Mail icon is dimmed light blue on the next screen and disabled to turn on/off. It then prompts for the exchange password but fails to recognize the Gmail password I used.

i need to set up hotmail account on ipad how do i do that?

You actually now have the option to set up Hotmail as an Exchange account (a HUGE plus).  Here are directions:
Microsoft recently announced that it it now allowing users to connect their iPhones, iPads and iPod touches to its free webmail service – Windows Live Hotmail – via Exchange ActiveSync. Before, the only option for Hotmail users wanting to access their email on the go was to set up their accounts via POP3 or login via a web browser. Because the POP3 protocol does not reflect changes to email statuses (whether read, deleted, etc) with the server version, so your emails end up out of sync. Exchange ActiveSync, on the other hand, reflects your changes across all devices. Plus, it means all your new Hotmail messages can be pushed directly to your iPhone or iPad.
Even better, setting it up on your iPhone or iPad is relatively simple (and thankfully, the same process on either device):
Open Settings and select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’.
Select ‘Add account’, and choose ‘Microsoft Exchange’.
For ‘Email’, enter your Hotmail email address ([email protected], for example).
Leave the ‘Domain’ field blank, but enter your Username (probably [email protected]) and Password (hopefully not yourname1234).
Give the account a description (this will appear in the Email app to identify the account). Select Next.
After that has verified, a new field – ‘Server’ – will appear. Enter m.hotmail.com in this field. Select Next again.
Choose which services you want to sync (Mail, Contacts and Calendars), and you’re done.
You can also set up how many days worth of mail you want to sync across and which folders should push emails to you.
To set up whether you want your email pushed to your phone (it’s an all-or-none decision if you have multiple Push-enabled accounts), go back to ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’, and select ‘Fetch New Data’. Here you can toggle Push on/off or choose to fetch data every 15 minutes, 30 minutes, hourly or manually (the latter will go easiest on your battery).

  • HT1277 how do i uncheck 'password' authentication when setting up email accounts on ipad 2

how do I uncheck the password authtication when setting up email accounts on ipad 2

As best I know all ISP providers operating Mail Servers for their customers REQUIRE "password authentication" in order to access and download your email.  Why wouldn't you want to set it?

  • Setting up Cox account on iPad

Being new to Apple products I may not know all of the ins and outs of these things, but I tried to set up the Cox POP email account and it will not verify the account saying it is invalid. I kind of figured it may be the SMTP settings but I can't find where the settings are located. Are there any tricks to doing Apple Mail I should know about? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Hi, everyone. I was able to get my email up and running. I am not sure if this will address the problems already discussed, but I will post my solution in case anyone finds it useful.
All I really did was delete the account that was set up at the store and start over. When you create an account from the Other category, you have the option of setting it up as IMAP or POP. When they set up my account at the store, they set it up as IMAP or forgot to select POP - I think IMAP is the default. I was actually wondering why the setting choices seemed a little strange, but I did not know enough about it and it's not an option to switch from one to the other.
Once the new POP account was set up, I just copied the settings for ports and stuff from Outlook on my pc. It now works smoothly. I recommend starting over if you are not able to fix it. I don't know the technical aspects, but it is kind of weird that you have to enter the POP and SMTP settings whether it is IMAP or POP. You can set all of this things correctly, but if you are in IMAP and not POP, you won't get it to work.
    Anyway, hth.

  • Can't set up mail account in iPad 2

My email account was from my company hp.com, but I was not able to set up a mail account in my new iPad.  It always said "unable verify account information",
I tried many times by adding all details I have, but I still can't get it work.
Please help me to stengthen out the problem and thank you so much for your time.

What type of email account - POP, IMAP, or Exchange?
If an Exchange account, does your employer support accessing the account with an email client on a personal computer at home and/or with a device such as the iPad?

  • I have set up email accounts on  iPad but it still uses my gmail account to send emails

I have set up a couple of new email address on the iPad.everytime I send an email out it uses my gmail I'd as the sender

Under the mails settings, the gmail account is the default account. You can change that. If you go into another mailbox, say yahoo. It will use your yahoo account to reply or send. You have to be in that specified email box. As far as clicking a an email off a site or emailing when your not in a specific email box, it will use the default email. You can either change the default in settings or click your email address in the email and change to the one you'd like.

  • HT201320 how to set up email account on ipad

    server ports for ipad settings?

Depends on the email provider, most providers will set this up for you
    settins/mail, contacts, calendars/add account
If provider is not listed, and you need to set up manually, you'll have to contact provider for correct settings
You can check this list for settings

  • Setting up Exchange account on iPad

I use a gmail address and set up an Exchange on my iPhone, it works.
I set it up exactly the same on iPad and nothing shows up in Mail
I deleted the Exchange account and added it again, four times.
    I rebooted the phone
I held iPhone up next to iPad to make sure I was doing it the same way
    Does it work on iPad?
I'm up to date on both devices.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks!

The passcode is a requirement set by the administrator of the Exchange server you are connecting to.
It is purely for security purposes.
If you do not want the passcode, you must remove the Exchange account. There is no way around it.

  • HT204051 can I set up 3G account on iPad without wifi???

I have given up on connecting my ipad2 to wifi. If I sign up for cellular service, will that work to get my iPad on the internet, or will I still need to connect wirelessly to set up 3G service?  Thank you for any advice!

    Cellular is kind of expensive...
For what it is worth, there have been reports you can connect an lighting to a usb-camera-connection kit to a usb hub to a usb-to- ethernet connector to get an internet connection.

  • Trying to set up hotmail account on iPad.  unable to verify account information.  Help

Changed hotmail password on PC. iPad2 stopped fetching hotmail.  Deleted account from iPad2.  Tried reinstalling.  continue to get message "Unable to verify account information".  What do I do now?  Help.

    Aloha Helzo,
Not sure if it's solved or not. I did have to uninstall all my CC from the old computer before I was allowed to install on the new computer, but it still kept telling me I had to buy the programs. I'll just watch and see if I get double-billed. I should know within a couple of weeks. If I do, then I will try and resolve it through the people in the billing department. that's how I ended up having to resolve it last time I changed computers.

  • HT4571 May I setup Verizon account on iPad 3 designated to at&t

How to set up Verizon account on IPad 3 designated to AT&T?

If you just want to connect to Verizon email, that can be done.
If you want to use the data connection via 3G/LTE/4G, you cannot
as Verizon uses different wireless technology than AT&T does.
If you have a Verizon wireless account or are interested in
starting one to provide data to your iPad, you might want to check
into a MiFi device such as this one from Verizon:
    http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobilebroadband/?page=products_mifi
There is a charge for the service.
If this is not what you are asking, please post back with more detail so
    someone can offer another suggestion.
