Setting up HP Color Laserjet 5550n with Mac

I just bought a Laserjet 5550 N. Printer works well when set up through USB. When I try to set up with ethernet:
1. Green light on printer's ethernet port glows green, and port on router is green as well.
2. In the Printer Pane of System prefs, I can add through Bonjour, but not through ethernet (when connected with USB
3. When adding with Bonjour, panel hangs up on Setting up 'hp color laserjet'. I get the options to configure or cancel for several minutes. If I click configure, I can set options for printer, and it appears as a printer. However, I cannot print (printer app tells me that printer is not responding. Also can't get supply levels.
4. Printer has address of 192.168.1.142. When I try to add usining ethernet and that IP address, it cannot find printer. Router address is 10.0.0.1
Mac Pro 2009 running 10.9.5
Thanks

So my question is: Is there a simple way to just install the 3600 driver for the snow leopard?
It all depends on the driver files used by the LJ3600. If it uses only a PPD, then you could simply copy the PPD to the /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources folder for the Mac's that don't have the driver already installed.
If there are other files required by the PPD, such as plugins and filters, these are probably located in /Library/Printers/HP. So you could also copy this folder with the PPD to the other Mac's to reduce your setup time.
Hope this helps you.

  • HP Color LaserJet 2605dn prefers Macs over PCs!

    I have an HP Color LaserJet 2605dn on my home network, with two Macs (G5, MacBook) and two PCs running Windows XP Pro. I used Bonjour to set up the LaserJet on the Windows machines. The printer has been working well for the past 4 months until just this past week, when the Windows machines just stopped printing. In the system tray a printer icon appears with a red question mark and a bubble that says "This document failed to print" along with a few more details.
    I've tried the usual (power off and on printer, power cycle DSL modem/router, uninstalling the printers and reinstalling) without success. I've searched the Microsoft and HP forums. In short, I've spent a few hours troubleshooting. The funny thing is that the Macs print fine. My kludge/fix is to set up the G5 to "share" the LaserJet and when I create a new printer on the Windows machines using that ("LaserJet 2605 @ G5") it works.
    Just wondering if anyone else has come across this weirdness.

    I am so glad it helped. I found it while trying to figure out why my Vista box will only print 2/3 of a page then it locks up hopelessly. I managed to finally get my XP box to print today with help from the forums too! If you come across anything about my Vista problem please look for that item and post. I'd really appreciate it!

  • HP Color Laserjet 1600 with OSX 10.6.8

    How to install and print with  an HP Color laserjet 1600, OS X 10.6.8? I read to select HP 2600 Color Laserjet, but when adding a printer it won't accept it.

    Hi @elliebee,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I understand you are having trouble installing your HP ENVY 5660 to your Mac OS X 10.6.8, and I am happy to look into this for you!
    According to this printer's specifications, Printer Specifications for the HP ENVY 5640, 5660, 7640, and Officejet 5740 and 8040 e-All-in-One Pr.... The minimum system requirements for Mac is version Mac OS X 10.7 Lion.
    However, as a workaround since there is no HP software, there is a driver directly through Apple that you can use. HP Printer Drivers v3.0 for OS X. This will allow for printing and scanning.
    To scan without HP software, please see this guide, Scan from OS X v10.7 Lion With the Full Feature HP Software for HP Multifunction Printers. Even though it says for 10.7 this will work on 10.6.8 as well. Select Scan without HP software, scroll down and you will see three methods.
    Otherwise, you might be able to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.7. You will have to contact Apple Support, to find out.
    Hope this information is what you are looking for, and have a great day!

  • HP Color LaserJet Problems with intel iMac

    Can anyone give me advice on the following:-
    When I try to print from my wife's new intel iMac 20" to our HP Color LaserJet 2550L, it doesn't work and print center gives me the following error message ... "The process "hppostprocessing" terminated unexpectedly on signal 5" .
    The printer is connected directly to the iMac via USB. It's not on a network.
    I ran the HP Color LaserJet installer from the original CD that came with the printer and when that didn't work I downloaded another (latest) Color LaserJet installer (dated 2004) from the HP website. Still getting the same error message from PrintCenter.
    When I look at the HP installer log, it appears that the installer tried several times without success to install plugins into the PPD folder (HD->Library->Printers->PPD).
    After trying installation and checking out my PPD folder (above) there is nothing in it.
    This printer has been (still) working fine with our older 20inch iMac.
    Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Same happened with my photosnart. Here is part of the email from HP
    Thank you for contacting HP Total Care.
    I understand from your email that you are not able to print to your
    photosmart 1218 printer from your new imac.
    I believe you are correct when you mention the glitch between the new
    Intel processor in the iMac.
    I have checked the Apple website and noted the pre-installed printer
    drivers that ship with this operating system, do NOT include drivers for
    the Photosmart 1218 printer. There are Gimp print drivers available for
    the Photosmart P1000 printer. They may work, but provide only basic
    printer functionality. (see the Apple document listed below).
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303057#hpdrivers
    I understand that our engineers are investigating the driver issue with
    the Intel-based Macs, however, I cannot provide you with an expected
    date of resolution. Your printer was manufactured in 2000, and the most
    recent drivers are from Aug 2005. These drivers were created before the
    Intel based macs were available.

  • HP Color Laserjet 2605dn and Mac OS 10.10, Yosemite

    Is this printer supported? It's not listed as such on HP's site.

    Well the official HP line is:
    With the release of OS X 10.7 Lion, HP is providing updated print drivers and software. These updates are available through Apple Software Updates in Mac OS X.  Depending on the product functionality, one or more of the following HP software components might be included in the HP driver update:
    HP print driver
    HP fax driverHP Utility
    HP scan driver
    NOTE:
    Scan support for many HP All-in-Ones is included with the HP software available through Apple Software Updates. To scan, use Preview, Image Capture or the Scan icon from the print driver queue.
    Full print, scan, and fax drivers for HP Inkjet All-in-Ones  (Deskjet, Officejet, and Photosmart) are supported by the HP software available from  Apple Software Updates. Scanning is supported with the Apple Preview and Image Capture Applications in Lion.
    Print drivers for the following product types are supported in Lion by the HP software available from Apple Software Updates. These drivers provide print-only functionality.
    HP Inkjet single-function products (Deskjet, Officejet, and Photosmart)
    HP LaserJet color single-function, All-in-One, and  MFP productsHP LaserJet monochrome single-function, All-in-One, and  MFP productsHP Designjet products
      Important:  Older HP software might  not be compatible with OS X 10.7 Lion.  After installing OS X 10.7, you might receive an 'Unsupported Operating System' message if you install previous Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4, 10.5, or 10.6 software, either from an original product CD or from HP Web downloads. This is expected behavior because the software is designed for operating systems previous to OS X 10.7.
    --- END
    So you may be out of luck. Apparently the 2600 is essentially the same as the 1600 so you may be able to use that instead.

  • Resolved Color Correction issue with MAC OS X and Canon pro 9000

    Problem: Unable to set the Color Correction option to NONE. I have looked all over the net and it seems that there are lots of people with this problem. After months and months of battling with this issue I have finally come up with the answer. Its all down to the fact that MAC OS X comes with a pre installed driver for the Canon Pixma Pro 9000. To cut a long story short this driver needs to be deleted from your system files before you update your driver, which you need to download from the canon website. I downloaded version 4.8.6. The new driver does not seem to work with the default driver still on the comp. After following directions below you should finally be able to get your Color Correction option on your driver working.
    First things first... go to the following location and delete the canon pro 9000 driver.
    Location: /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources
    File Name: CanonIJPro900series.ppd.gz
    (make a backup of this file if you wish )
    Once you have deleted the driver you need to restart your mac.
    After rebooting install the new Canon Pro 9000 driver. I suggest installing version 4.8.6(this one worked for me)
    Reboot Mac again just for good measure then do a test print and you should now be able to set COLOR CORRECTION to NONE.
    I know there are a lot of people out there having the same problem so if you are reading this please pass the solution on to others.

    Hi Japamac,
    Indeed a new cable just bought solved this problem.
    Still wandering why my MacbookPro was able to print and my PowerMac not, maybe another driver issue?
    Thank's anyway for your reply.

  • HP LaserJet p1102w with Mac OS X10.6.8 HTML config issue

    Hello,
    I have been using this printer for a few years now and have moved house a few times and successfully updated the wireless settings on the printer through HTML config. Lately, in printer utilities the HTML config button does not show up where it is meant to.
    I have installed / uninstalled the latest firmware, software drivers, printers and made sure they were platform specific.
    This is really annoying.
    Is there old software available for download? it was working fine until the recent update - which I did so I could use the eprint features.
    Best regards
    Costas
    Printer:
    HP LaserJet p1102w, Firmware datacode = 20130213
    Computer:
    Macbook white, late 2008 model: 2.4Ghz Core2Duo, 4G RAM with OS X 10.6.8

    From the name of the printer, it looks like you have it installed through a USB connection.
    Here is what I would. First go into “System Preferences” and then select either  “Print & Scan” or "Print & Fax".
    Right click (or control + click) on the rectangle listing your printers and then select “Reset Printing System”.
    NOTE: This will delete all printers.
    After you have reset the printing system, let's make sure you have the most recent HP driver package installed.
    You can download it here: http://support.apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HPPrinterDrivers2.14.dmg
    Once you have downloaded the driver package and completed the installation, go into your print settings under System Preferences > Print & Scan. To add the printer, click the plus (+) sign. You should see your printer listed here. If not, click "Add Printer or Scanner." Click the name of your printer and then click "Use:” box.  Make sure that says the name of your printer and not AirPrint. Next make sure that the printer "Kind:" is set to Bonjour or Bonjour Multifunction. Click "Add" down in the bottom right hand corner.
    This will add your printer back using the most recent HP print driver available through Apple. Let me know if this helps resolve your issue or not. If it doesn't, let me know I will see what else I can do.
    Best of luck,
    Kyle

  • Photosmart C6280 not printing color/both sides with Mac

    Hello HP Community,
    I have a Macbook Pro running iOS X 10.9.2 and a AIO Photosmart C6280. I am have downloaded the printing/scanning software and drivers. Everything installed without problem. I have also scanned with no problem. However, no matter what program I am trying to print from on my Macbook, the printer will not print in color and also will not print on both sides - even when the double sided feature is checked off.
    I have been to all the discussion forums of relevance and can't find anyone with my same problem. Those that have similar problems, are running different versions of iOS and the steps suggested they take are not possible with this version. Please Help!

    Hello HP_USER,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
    I see that you're unable to print in color from you Mac 10.9.2. I will try to help you with this.
    Have you tried making a color copy from the printer? If not please do so, this is to see if the printer is having the issue stand alone.
    I would also recommend looking at these documents:
    Missing, Faded, or Dull Colors
    Wrong Colors
    As for it not duplexing, according to the User's Guide, this printer doesn't duplex as in it doesn't have a duplexer. If you are manual duplexing that would be slightly different, as it requires you to be flipping the page after the first side has come out. This document can assist you with that: Print on Both Sides of the Paper (Manual Duplexing)
    I hope this helps you out, thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Problem in setting the background color of jtable with Nimbus

    Hi
    I have created a java swing application. In which I am using JTable.
    When creating a simple JTable and displaying with Nimbus, the row background color alternates between white and a light blue-grey.
    I want the table with single colour. Only the first column should be grey colour and other should be white.
    I used this code to set the background and foreground colour.
    public Component prepareRenderer
        (TableCellRenderer renderer, int index_row, int index_col){
                Component objComponent = super.prepareRenderer(renderer, index_row, index_col);
                Color objGreyColour = new Color(240,240,240);
                Color objWhiteColour = new Color(255,255,255);
                if(index_col == 0){
                    objComponent.setBackground(objGreyColour);
                    objComponent.setFont(new java.awt.Font(CommonClass.getFontName(),java.awt.Font.BOLD, CommonClass.getFontSize()));
                    objComponent.setForeground(Color.BLACK);
                }else{
                    setSelectionBackground(Color.BLUE);
                    objComponent.setBackground(objWhiteColour);
                    objComponent.setForeground(Color.BLACK);
                return objComponent;
            } Look wise it is fine but when i try to select the cell it is not highlighting the cell and also i m not able to select multiple cell with ctrl key.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Sonal

    Hello,
    1) if you want better help soone,r please post an SSCCE (http://sscce.org) instead of a code extract.
    2) selection highlighting is lost because your code... doesn't handle selection. To take selection into account, you can use <tt>if (super.isRowselected(index_row)) {...}</TT>.

  • Setting up airport extreme base station with Mac and PC

    I have an '02 iBook with an airport card installed and an airport extreme base station. my roommate has a PC and has the DSL connection in her room. i want to wirelessly network my iBook via the airport base. how do i do this? (my base was given to me without any manuals/disks etc)

    Your Netgear wireless router is your network's base station. Your parent's PC will not be "serving as a base station" - its presence on the network isn't at all relevant to what you want to do.
    To connect your G5 to the Netgear wireless router's network - click on your Mac's Airport menu, click on the name of your Netgear wireless router's network (it will appear in the list when you click on the Airport menu), and enter the wireless network password (if applicable) when prompted by the MacOS. That's is - you are connected!

  • HP Color Laserjet 3600 with Snow Leopard

    I know this model of printer (HP3600n) does not have a good reputation. But I have to deal with that because our school bought them before I started working there. The printers had been working 70% well with Leopard/Tiger last year. This year we upgraded our machines to Snow Leopard and now they only work 30%. In Leopard I used to add the printer through the "More Printer". With Snow Leopard I don't have "More Printer" option any more, so I added the printer though IP (LPD).
    The problem:
    1. When I print the 1st document, it prints sometimes. But, it still sits in the queue so the 2nd document could not print. I have to log in as administrator to use the "cancel -a -" command to clear the queue before I can print the 2nd document. It's so frustrate.
    2. Sometimes the document seems to print out, but when you go pick up the print out, it's not there. I have to power off the printer and power it back on and then the print comes out.
    Any clue?
    Thanks much!

    Print jobs queue and then disappear as if they were printed
    Any clues ?

    Most likely what's happening is that this old HP monitor does not have a plug-and-display driver in it (EDID) and so when the Mac is started up, it can't tell that the same monitor is still plugged in since the monitor does not self-identify to the Mac. Unfortunately, this behavior is deeply rooted in the Mac's architecture and there aren't many good ways to defeat it. The cheapest method that I have heard of is to find an old Macintosh (circa OS 8) video adapter for PC monitors that had a sense code switch in it. I have no first hand experience trying this, but I have been lead to understand that modern Macs still respond to the sense code scheme of the old Mac architecture.
    It might be easier to just You may want to just unload that monitor onto someone that uses a PC and get yourself a newer monitor for your Mac.
