Setting up IIS with Windows 7 & CS4

I was just getting to grips with building an ASP site first with Dreamweaver MX2004 then CS4 both on an XP Pro machine and all was going well.
I now have a W7 machine and have come unstuck.
Every site I search or forum covers the basic setup of IIS7 & I have this working I believe (localhost test works OK) but you try configuring CS4 site testing server to actually access the local host folder and it refuses to work!
Has anyone come across this in Vista or W7?

Hi thanks for the info, but I have already been through that one.
The problem is to do with some security setting, i.e. I can create and manually deposited files using Windows Explorer and if I run the timetest.asp example it works ok.
However, the problem is that Dreamweaver is not permitted to access the interpub folder or sub-folders, therefore setting up a test server fails at the first fence and without a testing server I can not set up a database connection for the site I am trying to develop.
This problem has only come about since moving to a Windows 7 Pro PC, which I have full admin access rights.
It has to be some weird and wonderful setting with IIS 7.5 that is hidden away and nestled in some obscure place, but being a novice tweaking the IIS settings is getting me no where fast, so any help, hint or tips are hugely appreciated

Yes there is.
There are many threads on this forum discussing this issue already (it's good to search before asking the same quesiton again).
There is a simple hack to get iCloud control panel to work on Windows XP to give you synced access to Contacts, Calenders, Reminders and Bookmarks. It also can be used to set up your me.com mail. Photostream doesn't work.

In summary:
You need:
Unpacking program e.g. 7-Zip or WinRar
Orca MSI editor
The iCloud setup hack for Windows XP:
Download iCloud Control Panel for Windows.
Open iCloudSetup.exe file with WinRar or 7-Zip and extract.
Navigate to and open the iCloud.msi or iCloud64.msi (for 64bit systems) with Orca.
In the left table select LaunchCondition. Then change in the right table “VersionNT> = 600” to “VersionNT> = 200” and Save.
Run modified iCloud.msi and install.
Run iCloud Control Panel, located in the Windows Control Panel, and set up as you want.
I've had reports that you need to keep the files extracted from the .exe file in the same directory during installaton of the .msi file.

Problem setting up wrt54g with windows 7

Upgraded Vista to Window 7 and I cant connect to internet through the wrt54g. I have cable internet service. I think this is the problem: I access the router settings, under the STATUS tab the IP is 0.0.0.0 The bottom of the page does NOT have an IP RELEASE button as the manual says it should. It says H### something RELEASE (I forgot to write down exactly what it says) In summary I CAN access the router wireless but it wont let me access the internet. Any Help?

You are able to connect to the wireless network.
The Internet IP address on the status page is 0.0.0.0. That means the router is not getting IP address from the modem.
Connect the computer directly to the modem with the Ethernet cable. Make sure that you can access the Internet through the modem.
If you are able to access the Internet through the modem then Internet is working fine on the modem.
Connect the modem to the Internet port and computer to Ethernet port 1 on the router.
Open the setup page of the router. Click on MAC address Clone sub tab. Enable it and click on Clone my PC's MAC. Save the settings.
Unplug the power to the router and modem. First plug in the power to the modem. Wait for 1 minute and then plug in the power to the router. Wait for a minute and then try to access the Internet on your computer.
Once you are able to access the Internet with the wired connection to the router, try to connect to the wireless network. See if that works.

Set up email with Windows 7 live mail

Anyway to have windows 7 live mail download the verizon mail from the server like outlook express used to? Like the live wire email screen beter than verizons but need to back the Verizon page to delete the messages read. I have Verizon set up as an alternate email address. Microsoft hasn't been any help on this question

Not sure exactly what you are asking for here.
If you are asking how to have Windows Mail remove mail from Verizon's server, there should be a chckbox for leaving a copy on the server that you can uncheck.
If you are asking how to set up your Verizon account in Windows Mail:
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
Incoming Server: incoming.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes
Username: fakeacct
Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): No
Port: 110
Outgoing Server: outgoing.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): No
Port: 25 (although 587 also works.)
These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the server names are: incoming.yahoo.verizon.net -and- outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net

How to set up MobileMe with Windows 7 and Outlook 2010?

I am unable to set up MobileMe on my PC. It is set up okay on my iPhone 4G but after downlaoding the App I cannot figure out how to get to the menu to find my phone and such.

To add sync for Find my iPhone:

* Find my iPhone ON
If you are using iOS3, you would click the advanced settings to pull up the request.
On your Me.com website it would be account information and find the tab "Find my iPhone" which would be on automatically after adding your iPhone on the info above.

Problem with Windows 8 on T520 mSATA

Short version: Installed Windows 8 on the mSATA (with Windows 7 on the main SSD). When I boot to the mSATA, Windows 8 opens/works fine. When I shut down then power up again, I cannot get into any BIOS setup screens to reset the boot order...it just keeps booting to Windows 8. I need to pull the mSATA drive to boot to Win7.
Long version: Added a Kingston mSATA to install Windows 8. Pulled the Intel SSD to do the install and everything went fine. Put the SSD back in. If I boot to Windows 7 and then shut down, when I power back up I can use the ThinkVantage button to get into the BIOS setup, or the f12 key to get to the boot order screen. But, if I change the boot order to get the machine to boot to Windows 8 on the mSATA, then do 'Power - Shut down' from Windows 8, when I power up again, neither the ThinkVantage or the f12 key do anything, and the machine boots to the mSATA.
When I power up after being in Win7, the black 'Thinkpad' screen includes the line under the Thinkpad logo that says "To interrupt normal setup...Push the blue ThinkVantage button." But when I boot up after being in Windows 8 on the mSATA, the black Thinkpad screen does not include that line.
I have BIOS version 8AET56WW (1.36). I have installed the UltraNav driver on Windows 8.
Any suggestions appreciated...pulling the mSATA drive each time is not fun.

Silly me...should have thought of this simple workaround:
Set the SSD (with Windows 7) ahead of the mSATA (Windows 8) in the boot order so it always defaults to the SSD, even after a shutdown from Windows 8. Doing that makes f12 available to select a boot drive every time the T520 powers up. (It also enables the ThinkVantage button to open the BIOS setup. If f12 is not working on your machine, change the setting in the BIOS.) That solved the booting issue.
But, every time I boot to the mSATA, then shut down and boot to the SSD, CHKDSK runs. So, I changed the BootExecute setting in the registry to disable autocheck of the C drive.

Fireworks CS4 doesn't install with Windows 7 RTM

I have installed Adobe Master Suite into Windows 7 RTM without any problems.. but I have attempted many times to install Fireworks CS4 but it stalls while doing the initial system check at 90% done. I have set the 'setup' file to Vista compatibility with administrative mode... still stalls... Does anyone know if it's something with a real incompatiblity with Window 7 or something that I'm not doing (or missing)...
Any help would sure be appreciated. (the client is getting pretty cranky now.... )

I have downloaded all of the trial applications from Adobe and all installed perfectly with the exception of Firefox. This leads me to the assumption that the problem is with the application and not the operating system.
Back to the original post... has anyone managed to install Firefox CS4 using Windows 7 RTM or later ???

Run the cleaner tool and reinstall with sufficient user privileges and security stuff turned off. Your install went wrong because you didn't consider this.

Not a solution yet, but received the following from one of the tech people I've been e-mailing back & forth with.
"I'm sorry that you have been unable to submit your podcast. The podcast submission form is currently offline. When trying to submit the podcast you will receive this message "We are Currently Experienced Technical Difficulties". Once the issue has been resolved, I would be glad to inform you.
Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available."
Who knows, maybe the problem isn't with my feed after all.

You cannot have three activations. It's simply not technically possible. If and when the time comes, you simply deactivate/ sign out on one of the old systems and install on the new one. If the system goes belly up, you contact support to reset your account. No need to make it more complicated than that and overthink it.

I would like to use either Family Share or home share. If I use a pc/laptop with Windows 8, will I be able to use these programs, or do I have to use an Apple device initially? I have an iTunes acct,that I share w/my daughter. However, I would like for us, to each have our own account, and yet share music when we want to.So,am I better off using Family Share or Home Share? We have a lot of music that we have bought together over the years, and I don't want either of us to lose out on those purchases. Yet, I also don't necessarily want all of the music that she buys, and she doesn't want all the music that I buy. If either of these are an option, how do I go about setting it up? While updating my iphone 4s to ios6, I had to restore it. Now every time I connect to itunes, I get the "Set Up Your iPhone" window with the set up as new iphone and restore from backup options. After the restore, I got everything except my apps back.
