Setting up Intranet BI Ondemand solution

Hi Experts,
I just recently attended the SAP Partner kick off, and one service I see that partners can maxmize is the deployment of their BI ondemand solution to their existing customers.
In line with this, I'd like to understand from which installation should we use to set up your own intranet OnDemand solution?
Is this solution available under the SAP BusinessObject Portfolio or this will still be under SAP Netweaver?
Or deployment of this solution will always be through the bi.ondemand site unless you want to develop your own service, this will be course through partnership with SAP and develop together your own service?

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence OnDemand service is availble under the SAP BusinessObjects Portfolio (i.e. Business User). Delivery of this service is through the site http://bi.ondemand.com which has a portal interface that allows for a user to be up and running with BI almost instantly. For partners who are wanting to integrate the features of this service through their own portal (Internet/Extranet) we also have a library of APIs that enable this as well.

"Display PDF in Browser" setting - $500 reward for the solution

The corporate policy requires the "Display PDF in Browser" setting to be unchecked for all applications, this is to open the PDF document in new reader instance but our specific application needs the reader to be opened in the same browser even if the preference "Display PDF in Browser" is unchecked.... The setPreference from javascript (html) doesn't seemed to work... How do i make this work? I am looking for programatic way to set this preference in HTML javasript or Java Applet or ActiveX or any other means. I am currently using JS and Object tag, the only functions that we need at this point are page navigation and getting current page using JS.
Also, I need the links the browser to open in new browser once the PDF is loaded... do I need to reset the preference once it is loaded for the links to open in new browser? How can this be progrmatically achieved without altering the original PDFs?

Setting up Active Directory - Best Solution

Hi all,
Pretty new to all the Windows 2012 business, but i have had a good crack at it.
I am building my artefact for my university dissertation, and i am building a virtual environment for a small fictional financial company. I have set up and configured my CentOS FTP Server, and my WS 2012 R2 File Server, however i want to get an Active Directory
Server Set up.
I suppose i have a couple of questions really...
1) What is the best way to do this? I have two servers (File Server & Active Directory Server) on the same domain, and i want to add users and groups using Active Directory that have access to the file server, as it will act as their own personal desktop
space. I have a virtual machine, that will be used as a "Hot Desk" which all users can access to get their personal documents, this is connected to my File Server.
2) is this really necessary? Im aware i can just add users to the file server via the server dashboard, however the AD gives me more security and control over the users. So is it worth spending a while setting it up when it may not be absolute necessary?
I hope i have made my scenario clear.

It can be installed on the same server, but if you are talking about a single server installation, there is not much benefit. In a workgroup environment, you need to set up an account for each user. In an AD environment, you need to set up an
account for each user. In a workgroup environment, you can create security groups to control access to resources. In an AD environment, you can create security groups to control access to resources.
The real benefit to AD comes if you want to manage users who can log in from different devices, or if you have multiple resource servers. In a workgroup with multiple resource servers, you have to set up accounts and security groups on every server.
In an AD environment, you set up accounts and groups once. Similarly, with client machines, if you have a workgroup and you want to allow users to log onto any computer, you have to set up user accounts on every computer. In an AD environment,
you only have to set up the accounts once and then join all the client machines to the domain.

Two different site collection cannot use the same Term Set . Is there any solution for this ?

I can save department site collection as site collection template. Also I can use this template for a new department site collection creation.
But Managed Meta data Navigation throws the following error

Unfortunately in SP 2013, a termset can only be used by a single site collection for navigation. This is a known limitation. There is no out of the box way to use a central termset to manage navigation across site collections. You need to develop a custom sitemap
provider to do that.
Another way to do this is to create termset for each site collection and reuse/pin the terms from the central termset instead of creating duplicate terms. You can script this easily using Powershell. This has some limitations though.

"Unable to install the GEAR driver set." in Vista Premium solution!

If you're getting the "Unable to install the GEAR driver set." error, go into regedit, navigate to HKEYLOCALMACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesGearAspiWDM and delete the DeleteFlag key. Run the iTunes upgrade/setup package and iTunes should install correctly.
If you get an error about explorer.exe being open, use the Tasks section of Task Manager to stop the explorer.exe application.

Setting up Proxy for Mobile Solutions

Hi,
We have just recently looked into the InTune solution (Cloud) without SCCM for our MDM solution which will replace BES and GOOD as we are now starting to bring in Nokia Windows 8 phones and phasing out blackberry.
My question is, is there a way to setup proxy for the Mobile Phones? We have a proxy.pac file for various access rights that we will not be able to carry over as pac files are not supported on IE of the mobile phones.
Is there a way to create proxy profiles that can be applied to certain devices in InTunes?

Why do Java teachers set problems requiring an Applet solution?

Applets are very hard to debug, they have a slow development cycle, Web caches cause problems and the security restrictions limit what can be achieved.

My guess is because there's a fear of the command
line. I'll bet those same teachers tend to make
their students use IDEs as well.Part of the problem is that most courses are too short to get into some of these things. There is such a spectrim of things to try and teach to people in such a short amount of time. Personally I would actually prefer to see the first course be a logic course complete with flow charts. The language is much easier to pick up than the algorithms, and I also suspect it would be easier to pick up a language when they realize how linear computers really are.

I want to implement Zero Sign On in my application,for that my server needs to retrieve the Windows login information of a client machine whenever a client machine is trying to access a particular url.
System.getProperty("user.name") returns Username of server machine.Can anyone help me telling how can i retrieve windows Username of a client machine?

No data in Business Process Analytics after setting up BPA and BPMon

Hi,
I have followed the BPA set up guide and done all the configuration for BPA. I have set up BPMon for a solution and in the logical component node i have done configuration for many application monitors.
Also in the "Load Master Data" node the master data is loaded. But still in BPA when I am selecting the time frame and applying it I am getting a message that no data is applicable in the selected time frame.
How can i get the data in BPA.

Two-way SSL: Private key is incorrectly read if the charset is set to UTF8

Looks like PEMInputStream and other related classes assumes the application charset
"iso81", but if the charset is something else, then "java.security.KeyManagementException"
is thrown.
We have everything setup and two-way ssl works when the encoding is not set. but
brakes if the encoding is UTF8.
WLS 7.0
OS - HP-UX
Is there any other workaround (not setting UTF8 is not a solution, ours is a WW
app).

Set IP address in Solutino Center

I have an L7780 wirelessly connected. I can print to it from my Windows 7 system. I can print and scan from my Windows XP System.   I think the problem is that the IP address is incorrect in the HP Solution Center -- it displays an incorrect IP address for a brief instant when it is started. How do I reset the IP address in Solution Center to the correct one? When I go to the Setup icon and then click on Network, it just sits there and does not do anything. I would have expected this to display something that I could use to reset the IP address, but that does not work at all.

If Solution Center won't let IE9 bring up the settings, it will not let you get to the place where you can set the IP within HP Solution Center.
Another option, that I know of, is to set the IP on the front panel of the Printer.
I do agree that the software tries to do a great deal. It is not very modular - at least it doesn't look that way... it has trouble with installation, and it is prone to "breakage". Nonetheless, it is awesome powerful stuff when it works. And it beats the alternative of not having it.
It is all "Easter Eggs" at this point. The solution is in the HP Solution Center and getting IE to come up and allow you to set the IP address. Everything else (IMO) is a workaround or resets to try and get IE to budge.
You can log into your router and check the logs. Resetting the router is an option, but it's a long shot and it means you have to redo everything unless you can back it up first and then reload the settings. Most routers have this option.
You can check your Anti-Virus logs - see what they say.
You can make sure the Onboard Windows security settings are OK...

IMO: Stay away from Registry Mechanic. I had this on my systems – it has been cleansed, removed, deleted, and dropped in the Zeros bucket. This is a Personal Opinion

THEN, It is possible that your computer's file system itself is at fault. The file system may be corrupted.
You can run sfc and let it try and fix itself.   It is worth a try.   HP Solution should work and it doesn't work now, so something is wrong. ?? Maybe it's internal.
You can ignore all the "log this, and check that" stuff... just let it run -- unless it hangs... then pay attention and check the logs!

Scan and repair the system. The sfc /scannow command will do that - it will scan the operating system, looking for corrupted files and inconsistencies; it will replace and repair whatever it can. If it finds corrupted programs or libraries, it will try to fix them.
Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Right-Click Command Prompt > Select 'Run as Administrator'
In the Command Prompt Window, type (or copy / paste) sfc /scannow and press Enter.
(Note the space between sfc and the "/".)
The sfc scan will report its findings and you can examine the results:
Open a Command Prompt (does not have to be as Administrator):
Use the copy command to create a readable file copy of the output:
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\desktop\cbs.txt
If “scannow” does not complete properly, try running:
sfc /verifyonly
Copy the results into a text file, pull the output file into Notepad and look for the errors that the full Scan could not fix.

Solution Manager SMSY

This is a question on setting up BI systems in Solution manager transaction SMSY.
We have a BI landscape running on Netweaver 7.0 (ABAP+JAVA).
Under SMSY->SYstems, I have setup the systems under 'Product' SAP Netweaver and 'Product version' SAPNetweaver 7.0
But when setting up Logical Components I noticed that there is more granularity under SAP Netweaver->SAP Netweaver 7.0 -> 'Main Instnce'
where the options allow to choose 'Business Intelligence' but when I select this and configure the Logical component, I am unable to assign the created BI system to this logical componnet since I get a message 'No system found for this product/main instance'.
Because of this I had to create the Logical Component under SAP Netweaver->SAP Netweaver 7.0 ->Application Server ABAP and assign the systems.
Just wondering if this is the right way to go to setup a Netwevare (ABAP+JAVA) based BI systems in Sol Man 7.0.

Under SMSY->System-> Create New system-> Product 'SAP Netweaver' do you see an option to choose Business Intelligence ?
The only four options I see is
SAP Netweaver 7.1
SAP EHP1 FOR SAP Netweaver 7.1
SAP Netweaver 7.0
SAP Netweaver 04
However under Logical components I see an option to choose Business Intelligence under SAP Netweaver, but configuring the component here will not let you choose the systems created above under SAP Netweaver 7.0. This is my issue.
I am running Sol Man Ehp1 SPS20.

How to declare variable in solution file for use in project files.

Hi Folks,
Apologies if this is not the right place to ask, but I would like to declare a variable in my solution file that can used by all of the projects (prof files) in that solution.
More specifically in the project files, references are stored using relative paths which cause issues if they don't exist. I would like to replace the relative paths with a variable set in the solution file that can easily be changed when the solution is
built in a different location.
So I would like to replace "../../../SomeProject" with "$(SomeLocation)/SomeProject" but set the $(SomeLocation) in the solution file.

And the Global Interface in the solution file is actually used for Visual Stuido add-ins. To know details, please read the following MSDN article:

It's about the solution interface.
As you can see although they may save something to your solution file, it is not intended for you to use it in your project.
What's your projec type and can you alter to use some common ways?
For example:
1. If it is in project level, set your value public so that all classes can access the value.
2. Or you can choose to create a xml/text file or any file that you can read by code, and then read the value out from that file.
It will be much better than thinking about set value in the solution file.
