Setting up my brand new MacBook Pro and it will not connect to the wifi network. Nothing wrong with the network which is happily working for my iPhone and iPad! Suggestions accepted for making this connection.

Fixing this is a two step process:
    1) System preferences > WiFi/Airport ...
... check [√] Ask to join new networks
"Known networks will be joined automatically.
If no known networks are available, you will
be asked before joining a new network."
    2) Remove unwanted networks from the list of "known" networks under
    System preferences > WiFi/Airport > (Advanced) > | Airport/WiFi pane ...
Close the window and save changes. If no joy, do a restart to ensure you are playing under the new rules.

  • When I synch my iPod w. new MacBook Pro, laptop doesn't show which podcasts I've already listened to on the iPod.  (My old MacBook did do that.)

I used to download new podcasts to my old MacBook, plug in my iPod, click the Synch button, and not only did the new podcasts get copied from the laptop to the iPod, but iTunes on my laptop would show which podcasts I'd already listened to, so it was easy to delete the old stuff, synch again, and the old podcasts would be gone from both the laptop and the iPod.
When I try to do the same thing with my new MacBook Pro (which I set up using  the Migration Assistant to copy apps, including iTunes, from my old laptop), that doesn't happen:  When I download a new podcast, plug in my iPod, and hit Synch, the new podcast isn't copied, nor does iTunes show which podcasts I've listened to since the iPod was plugged in the last time.
What used to be quick and easy is now cumberson and, because it's hard to remember which podcasts I've listed to and which I havened, error-prone!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The installer DMG will be in the Applications folder
I haven't tested this, but it seems somewhat at odds with this recent MacWorld article, which gives a method for "capturing" the Lion installer downloaded via the Recovery HD, and then creating a bootable installer volume from it.
Create a bootable Lion install drive for newer Macs
The article is meant for Macs that came pre-installed with Lion and therefore can't use the App store. The article describes a procedure to retrieve the Lion download not from /Applications but from a folder named "Mac OS X Install Data" which gets created at the root of the drive where Lion is to be installed. It's tricky, because normally that installer self-launches immediately after the download, and then deletes itself afterwards.
They distinguish this procedure from an earlier, simpler one that can be used if Lion gets downloaded via the App store - they reference an earlier article for that situation, which does involve retrieving the installer from /Applications. That method has been publicized in many places.
The inference for me was  that the Recovery HD does not download anything to /Applications - otherwise the earlier procedure would work, and this new article would be unnecessary.  As I said, thoiugh, I haven't tested anything.

  • Synch music from iPod to new MacBook Pro .. can't find my music in iTunes

I have an iPod which I use with my stereo all the time   ... it has never been synched to the New MacBook Pro.
The iPod has 4,530 songs and some playlists ... I don't want to lose this data.
    Can someone help me ???

  • How do i transfer songs from my old iPod to new macbook pro?

  • Sync old ipod to new macbook pro

how do i sync my old ipod and its library to my new macbook pro without losing music. I dont just want to transfer purchases but all my old songs. There doesnt seem to be an easy option to do this.

Correct, there is no Apple sanctioned option to get the music to your new computer from your iPod.
Instead, transfer your iTunes library from your former computer to your new computer.

  • Putting Songs From iPod onto New Macbook Pro

I am trying to put the approximately 75 gb of music that is on my ipod onto my new Macbook Pro. My Powerbook died unexpectedly and took all my music with it. So now all I have is my little external hd, aka ipod. I've looked online for help with confusing and unsuccessful suggestions for taking music from an ipod and putting it onto a computer. Any help?
    Thanks.

  • Copy songs from iPod to new MacBook pro

My old iBook, which my iPod was linked to, was recently stolen. I have a new MacBook pro and I would like to move my iTunes library from my iPod (which I still have) to the new machine but there are some problems with this as I can't do it the regular way (i.e. connecting my iPod to the old computer and going to preferences and effectively turning my iPod into a hard drive etc.)
Is there any way to move my music to my new computer?

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward. I use Senuti but check them out and see which one you prefer.

  • IPod Nano + new MacBook Pro

    Hi,
I'm planning on getting my wife an iPod Nano for Xmas. I'll be using my MacBook Pro as the enabling/syncing computer for it.
    My dilemma:
The bulk of the music my wife is likely to transfer to her new iPod is all located on hard CDs, i.e. not in my iTunes library.
Is my only solution to buy the Super CD/DVD drive for the MBPro, and then load the music into my iTunes library from which I can manually sync her stuff?
Or is there another solution not involving any additional hardware?
    Many thanks for your help!
    Andre

    Thanks for your reply!
Actually, many of the CDs have been ripped into iTunes on my old iMac (2004, running OS X 10.4), which is still a viable machine (I still record with it), but the OS is incompatible with the newer versions of iTunes. In fact, the iTunes store doesn't even acknowledge that I have a legitimate copy of iTunes. So practically the only thing I can do with that iMac is transfer music into its iTunes library from sources like CDs.
The MacBook Pro I have is the retina display version, so buying the Super CD drive would be the way to go.
But your reply also hints at another solution that I had not considered:
I do have a external G drive with lots of capacity still. It does have a USB 2.0 port which works with the 3.0 ports on the MBP. I suppose I could transfer the iMac library contents as MP3s onto the G drive, and then load those into the iTunes library on the MBP. Would that work?
I think I may still get a CD/DVD drive for the MacBook, but this manual transfer may at least be a workaround of some kind.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Best,
    Andre

iTunes is already pre-installed on all new Macs.  Do you mean that you updated it from Software Update?
Your iPod Touch problems should be posted in the iPod Touch forums.  It's where the iPod users hang out.

  • I'm going to be getting a new Macbook Pro soon.  How to I sync my iPod Touch between both my old PC and my new Macbook Pro?

I Currently Have a Dell laptop with iTunes 10.5 installed.  I have an iPod Touch with IOS 5.0.1 and I'm getting a new Macbook Pro in a couple of days.  Is there and easy way to transfer my music to my new Macbook?  Also, I would like to be able to continue to sync with my old laptop and my new one so i get the music from my Macbook and the photos from my old laptop.

  • I just got a new Macbook Pro, plugged my iPod into it and lost all my songs on my iPod.  How do I get them back?

I just got a new MacBook Pro, plugged my iPod into it and noticed all my songs didn't transfer, including the 6 new ones I just purchased.  I then brought it back to my PC to sync, and lost all my songs on my iPod.  I'm now receiving all kinds of weird messages that the name of my iPod is a duplicate and cannot be synced (no matter what I put in it).  During the process of loading it on my Mac., a bunch of odd emails were popping up to sync.  I just kept deleting and adding mine.  Is it corrupted? What have I done??? I am a personal trainer and live by my iPod.  Please help.

Your post is abit confusing, especially on getting those weird messages and emails,( assumed in your Windows machine.)
Most likely you have Restored the iPod using the new Macbook pro, using the same name as that in your Windows machine, hence the duplicate name warning, as it is trying to sync Automatically.
If you are syncing your iPod to both the Mac and Windows, you must set it to Manually Manage Music, in the first machine that you setup iTunes with the iPod. Read thsi Apple Support Article
In iTunes, Preference, tick on Prevent devices syncing automatically
Hopefully your music are still in both your iTunes library,
Connect the iPod to the Mac
Restore it (just to fix any filesystem corruption by the Windows end)
Set it to Manually Manage Music
Sync your selected songs in your library.
    Whern sync complete, Eject it
Connect it to your Windows PC.
Select the song in the library
    Sync it.
It should work if your ipod Hardisk is not giving any problem.
    Good luck!

  • How do I transfer my songs from my iPod Touch to my new MacBook Pro?

Okay so I have read many similar questions, but I have not found any that share my exact problem.  I got an iPod Touch for Christmas and bought songs from the iTunes app it has, NOT FROM A PREVIOUS COMPUTER.  I have boughten 83 songs so far.  Now I just got the new MacBook Pro for graduation and haven't touched the iTunes on this computer.  It is all set up through the same Apple ID.  So again, all 83 songs that I have on my iPod did NOT come from a previous computer, they all have been bought through iTunes on the iPod Touch, how do I get those songs on my new computer?  Thank you!
P.S. OH!  I also just got the Time Capsule (2TB), so I am not sure if that would solve my problem.

    This is answered often.
