Setting up lwapp bridges on WCS, im confused.

WCS 7.0.164.3  with a wism running 7.0.98.0
I need to set up a bridge from building to building with a couple 1242's. Seems easy enough with the "bridge" mode option and all. WRONG.
I change it to bridge and the AP goes into a reboot cycle saying "no mesh config file found" or the like.
I have searched the forums for hours and found snippets here and there but no big picture about running lightweight bridges. I also found a whitepaper about how you can configure bridge groups from command line on the controller but not from any GUI..
So the question remains, is it even possible to run LWAPP bridges and should I bother? Maybe autonomous would be easier...

Scott,
The "Bridge" mode you are referring to is for the configuration of Mesh.  However, you could use Mesh to achieve what you want.
For starters, any Mesh AP has to have its MAC Address added to the AP Authorization List (Security > AP Policies).  If the Mesh AP is not authorized, it will not join the WLC.
After that, you'll want to set the one closest to the WLC as RootAP, and the remote as MeshAP.  Then enable Ethernet Bridging mode on both APs.
If you take the MeshAP now and remove its path to the WLC,  it should join through the RAP, and the switchport of the RAP should be able to trunk through the RootAP to the MeshAP.
I'd suggest  Indoor Mesh Deployment Guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_white_paper09186a0080b1c101.shtml

  • How to set resolutin in bridge??

    it has been suggested that I set my resolution to 300ppi to help reduce im work flow.
    How do i set resolution in bridge??

    You don't set the resolution in Bridge. You either set in in Camera Raw or in Photoshop.
    In Camera Raw, edit the 'workspace settings' by clicking on the underlined settings at the bottom of the window and change the appropriate settings.
    In Photoshop, change Image Size (Ctrl-Alt-I), untick Resample Image, and change the PPI value.

    Any warnings when opening the file?
    You might need to reset all warnings in preferences.
    Apart from that itlooks like your color management settings are set to convert into profile. This is absolutely not advisable.

  • Setting up a bridge for solaris 10

    Hi,
    I currently have a dual boot for on my desktop (Solaris 10 and WinXP). I'm currently looking for a way to get online while in solaris, my WinXP install is on a wireless network but it's almost impossible to find wireless drivers for solaris so i'm trying to use my ethernet capabilities.
    I bought a wireless print server which has a bridge feature and i'm hoping to find some information on how to setup a bridge on my solaris install.
    Any help or direction will help me a lot since I'm very new to solaris. Thank you in advanced.

    I have a similar issue but have not been able to get this solution to work.
    I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n that is set up in bridge mode and connected to a DSL modem that assigns IP addresses.
    I wish to use a remote Airport Express (late 2008) 802.11n to connect via ethernet to a PowerMac without wireless.
    In summary I desire: DSL-ethernet-AirportExtreme-wireless-AirportExpress-ethernet-PowerMac
    I have reset the Airport Express to factory defaults and then set to "Join wireless network" and checked allow Ethernet clients. The Airport Express gets an IP address but any number of Macs I have tried will not get an IP address in DHCP mode (except a self-assigned one). I have verified that the cable works: when I connect the Macs to the Airport Extreme base station, they all get an IP address. All versions of firmware are 7.4.1. I have also tried checking and unchecking "Allow this network to be extended" on the Airport Extreme.
    Please help. Thanks

  • Airport Extreme needs to be set-up in "Bridge mode" ??

    I am trying to set-up a new intel iMac to a dsl service for my elderly uncle. The dsl people said that their system was compatable with OS 10.4.7 (which is installed) but that the Airport Extreme modem will need to be set-up in "bridge-mode." Can I do that? Where can I find instructions or help with that? When I queried "bridge mode" on this site I get lots of stuff with acronyms I don't understand and stuff about routers and wireless bridges and other stuff I don't understand... I really need help!

  • I have FIOS and the latest version of the Airport Extreme Basestation set up in bridge mode.

    OK need some technical answers I have FIOS and am forced to use their Router. I have WiFi turned off on the FIOS router and my New version Airport Exteme Basestation set up in Bridge Mode. I have CAD 5 running to all my Mac computers and a CAD 5 up to the second floor. I have an older version Airport Extreme Basestation that I would like to connect to the CAD 5 cable on the second floor where the WiFi signal is weak as the main Airport is in the basement. How would I connect the second Airport to the Airport that is in Bridge Mode?  Will this setup mess up my signal strength on either CAD 5 or WiFi? I will also have one Macbook Pro plugged into the upstairs Airport. This is mainly for the WiFi for my iPad and iPhone. Details will help. Thanks.

    How would I connect the second Airport to the Airport that is in Bridge Mode?
    Connect from a LAN <-> port on the Bridge Mode AirPort to the WAN "O" port on the second floor AirPort and then use AirPort Utility on a Mac or iPad to set things up.
    Will this setup mess up my signal strength on either CAD 5 or WiFi?
    Nothing will be messed up, and you will have a much stronger WiFi signal upstairs.
    If you need more details on setup.....we need to know.....
    1) What model number of AirPort Extreme will be upstairs.  The model number is usually embedded in the foam base on the bottom of the device. Starts with an "A" followed by four numbers. Example.....A1143.
    2) What operating system you are using on your Mac, or whether you want to use the iPad for the setup...assuming that the upstairs AirPort is compatible.

  • My Time Capsule is giving me a warning that  double NAT situation is occurring and recommends that I set it to bridge mode What is all this about please can it be explained in layman's terms and not martian thank you.

    My Time Capsule is giving me a warning that  double NAT situation is occurring and recommends that I set it to bridge mode What is all this about please can it be explained in layman's terms and not martian thank you.

    You have two devices....the Netgear and Time Capsule both configured to act as routers on the network. You only want one device providing this service.
    I suggest that you configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode as suggested to eliminate the Double NAT error. Unfortunately, the Guest Network cannot be enabled in this setting.
    No other adjustments are needed and everything else will operate normally...and the Time Capsule will still be providing your wireless network signal.
    Once the Time Capsule is configured in Bridge Mode, it would be an excellent idea to perform a complete power cycle on the network to allow things to reset properly.
    Just power off all devices on the network in any order that you want
    Wait a minute
    Start the Netgear device first, and let it run a minute by itself
    Start the Time Capsule next the same way
    Continue starting devices one at a time the same way until everything is powered backup
    The other option you have is to "ignore" the error and the light will turn green. The Double NAT error may...or may not cause some issues for you down the line. The next time that you update the Mac operating system, or update the firmware in the Time Capsule, it may likely change the Time Capsule to Bridge Mode automatically.
    If your Guest Network "disappears", you will know why this happened, and you will have to manually configure the Time Capsule again in Router Mode to provide DHCP and NAT services.
    Double NAT can also cause a slow down of web page loading. You may...or may not....notice this.

  • How do I set up Full Bridge Mode for port fowarding?

    How do i go about setting up Full bridge mode, for port forwarding on my Airport extreme's ? I Have two working to get coverage in my house, but I guess they need to be bridged together

    For most routers, including the AirPorts, bridge mode disables both the NAT & DHCP services. Since NAT is disabled, all of the firewall ports on the AirPort are open and thus port mapping/forwarding would not be reqiured. Therefore if you configure your AirPort as a bridge, the port mapping optios will not be available.
    Since you have two AirPort routers, you would only need to configure the AirPort that is NOT in bridge mode for port mapping to allow communicaton coming in from the Internet. This would typically be the AirPort attached directly to the Internet.

  • Want to use LWAPP Bridge on mobile cart in our wireless deployment.

    Want to use LWAPP Bridge on mobile cart in our wireless deployment.
    Question.
    I have several mobile carts that use an automous AP in bridge mode to connect to our wireless network. The cart machine connects to the ethernet port in the AP. We use this for ultrasound carts, moble video units, cardio-echogram machines. I need the same functionality, but I want to have the AP(s) be LWAPP for better managability and troubleshooting capabilities. I plan to put them in their own AP group.
    How can I do this? Thank you in advance.

    No, but there is for the 1262 and 1142 which won't be discontinued for awhile yet probably. Most newer items are starting to have wireless cards installed in them thus removing the need for bridges, this is a trend that we will probably see more of going forward.

  • Fix (set in concrete) Bridge Workspace

    How do I set a Bridge Workspace so that future alterations don't get saved by default?
    Thanks,
    Drew

    If I select that named workspace, I get the changes regardless of whether I saved them.
    You have to reset the workspace again using the triangle menu or right mouse click on workspace name itself.
    I'm still trying to find out what I prefer but can't figure it out yet. there is a large number of people wanting to have the last use workspace being sticky for that particular workspace. Sometimes this suites me, sometimes not.
    But the reset is something I got used to.

  • Using AEBS with d-Link 655 (or "how do you set up a bridge?")

    Please help - I am at the end of my rope and am now treading into uncharted territory.
    Basically I want to see if I can have my MacBook working (wirelessly) through the AEBS wireless router, and our Windows PC working (wirelessly) through a d-Link DIR-655 router, utilizing one cable modem. I'd prefer to use only one router, but the Windows PC absolutely refuses to maintain an internet connection with the AEBS; after two days of trying everything I can possibly think of to fix the problem, the only progress I've made is that every log indicates that things are perfectly fine when I have no internet connection. The d-Link works much better with the PC, and works fine with my MacBook, but I really want the ability to print remotely. I tried hooking up a print server to the d-Link and got it working, but it turned out it's not compatible with my printer.
    I have to set up the system using my MacBook, as the PC is nowhere near our cable modem. The AEBS shows up in Airport Utility; the d-Link has to be set up via web browser.
    My understanding is that I could use the AEBS as a bridge, but I really am not sure what I'm doing. I have the hardware set up this way:
    Cable modem - ethernet cable - d-Link's WAN port
    d-Link's LAN port - ethernet cable - AEBS WAN port
    During setup, I have:
    AEBS LAN port - ethernet cable - MacBook
    Both systems were already set up to operate as wireless routers on their own, each with a different SSID. I managed to get into the Airport Utility and change the AEBS to work as a WDS remote. (I wasn't sure if I wanted to do that or select "extended network.") Since saving that setting, I can no longer get into Airport Utility to make any additional changes. (I read somewhere that both routers should have the same SSID and password. Is that true?)
    The AEBS light is green. The only router showing up in my Airport wireless menu is the d-Link, however. Is that how it's supposed to work? If so, how on earth do I know whether I'm connecting to the d-Link or the Airport router?
    Of course, this would be a lot cheaper and easier if I could just get the darned AEBS to maintain an internet connection with the PC. If anyone has any ideas I haven't tried yet on that one, I'd love to hear them.

    I guess my other question would be if this is even the right setup if I want to be able to use my printer with the AEBS and my MacBook. (I don't need to share the printer with the PC.)

  • Trying to set up encrypted mails but I'm confused about certificates and keys

    Hello all,
    My first foray into encrypted emails and I'm already confused! To begin with, I'm trying to exchange mails with one other person, who I believe uses Outlook. So far:
    He's sent me his certificate (although I thought I would receive his public key) which is a file called smime.p7m. I don't know what to do with this.
    I've successfully followed the instructions at https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/digitally-signing-and-encrypting-messages. When I start a new mail, I can either go to the Enigmail menu and switch on encryption / digital signing and it seems fine, or I can go to the dropdown on the S/MIME button and it says "You need to set up one or more personal certificates before you can use this security feature." Are these two different ways of doing the same thing (in which case I'll use the one that works!) or not?
    As you can see, I'm getting confused between keys and certificates! If some kind person could take a minute to explain what my next steps are, that would be much appreciated. I couldn't find anything on the Thunderbird support pages, though I know I need to send him my public key.
    Thanks in advance.
    Stuart.

    Stuart8, good find, that article.
    I found the main disincentive to using the built-in S/MIME capability is that it's not immediately obvious where to get your certificate and keys. Most providers want $$$ for them, which is natural enough if they are actually going to validate you in some way. I did at one time have a Thawte certificate and even enough WOT vouches to be a low-grade WOT Attorney.
    Once you have your key, it's a bit of a pfaff to install it into Thunderbird. You'll probably find that S/MIME is the default in business correspondence, since many businesses operate their own mail servers, ftp servers and so on and probably have an arrangement to generate self-issued certificates or to buy them on a commercial basis from a CA.
    Enigmail/OpenPGP doesn't require any financial outlay on your part, but is harder to get your keys properly validated since there's not much of a formal WOT nor a reliable central registry. You generate your own keys and it's pretty much all based on mutual trust.
    Since the two systems are incompatible, you need to have set up the same as whatever your correspondent is using.
    I suspect that you have discovered that it's a two-way process. In order for a correspondent to send you an encrypted message, you must both be using the same system, and he must have your public key to encrypt his message, and you'll need his in order to reply with encryption. So yes, he needs to send you his public key for you to send to him, but what he sends to you needs YOUR public key.
    Obviously, signing messages is a useful halfway house. I believe that you sign with your private key, and the recipient will have to download your public key to validate your signature. Whilst a signature doesn't safeguard your privacy, it goes some way to proving that the message came from who it says it came from and that it hasn't been altered in transit. (I really can't understand why banks, lawyers, insurance companies haven't picked up on these encryption and signing schemes. Perhaps they actually prefer all those awful phone calls where you need to struggle to recall supposedly unforgettable names and dates! ;-) )
    In practice, I find that if you sign a message to an outfit who don't know what to do with it, their numpty anti-virus system will probably barf on the signature which it thinks is executable code and therefore must be a virus or worm. :-(

  • Setting metadata in Bridge

    Can someone give some advice on setting metadata values within Bridge using javascript? The examples all seem to deal with Text types like the following:
    md = tn.metadata;
    md.namespace = "http://ns.adobe.com/photoshop/1.0/";
    md.Author = "Jane Smith";
    But when trying to set other types, like the "caption" (which gets mapped to "http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/description"), the script will throw an exception.
    md.namespace = "http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/";
    md.description = "New Caption"
    -- Uncaught exception description --
    I'm thinking this is probably because dc:description is defined as a "Lang Alt" type in the xmp specification which in turn is defined as:
    "Language alternatives are a form of rdf:Alt array, referred to as the Lang Alt type. In this
    example, each array item is a simple text value; the value has a property qualifier, specified as
    the property xml:lang, giving the language of that value. "
    But no matter how I try accessing this object (there is no "reflect" available on metadata objects), I can't seem to change the string value.
    Any ideas would be much appreciated.
    On another topic, would it be possible for someone to post the Export Metadata Script here in this forum for those of us who don't have access to the partners site? Here's is my working go at an export metadata script for Bridge that simply prints to the debugger. It's basically a quick hack of some of the routines in AdobeLibrary3.jsx which it also needs in order to run.
    Thanks,
    Bruce
    #target bridge
    if( BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge" ) {
    DebugMeta = {};
    DebugMeta.execute = function() {
    // print out the metadata for the selected thumbnails
    var sels = app.document.selections;
    for (var i = 0; i < sels.length; i++) {
    var t = sels[i];
    var m = t.synchronousMetadata;
    // loop through all possible elements (properties)
    var elements = MdNs.elements.keyList;
    for (var j = 0; j < elements.length; j++) {
    var el = MdNs.elements.get(elements[j]);
    if (el.scriptAccessible) {
    try {
    // print the value (and the mapping if it's redirected)
    var val = el.getValue(m);
    if ( isValidReference( val )
    && ( val.length > 0 )
    && ( trim( val ) != null ) ) {
    $.write(el.handle + " = " + val);
    if (el.redirected) {
    $.writeln(" (" + el.redirectElement.ns.ns + el.redirectElement.property + ")");
    } else {
    $.writeln();
    } catch (e) {
    // setup menu
    var myMenu = createMenu( "command", "DebugMeta",
    "-at the end of Tools-", "tools/DebugMeta", DebugMeta.execute);
    var contextMenu = createMenu ( "command", "DebugMeta",
    "-at the end of Thumbnail-", "thumbnail/DebugMeta", DebugMeta.execute);

    Bruce,
    I think most people here agree with your 2c, but there just wasn't time to do everything.
    But one of the great things about Bridge Scripting is, if you don't like it, change it, or create something that will do what you need. If you don't like the way collections work, create your own browse scheme, and do it your way.
    The MdNs object has a definition for an object, MdManager. The MdManager constructor takes a thumbnail object. It's "grab" method creates 2 enumerations. MdManager.enumeration contains a KeyedArrayList (object defined in lib3 just above MdNs) of all the metadata elements that actually have values. MdManager.noValue is a KeyedArrayList of metadata elements that do not have values. Now, the standard MdManager only provides checks against the standard XMP schemas. But if you want to extend that, just add a MdNs.MetadataNamespace and the MdNs.MdElement 's necessary to define the non-standard data you want to enumerate.
    So while you can't use the metadata object to traverse the metadata structure, there are always other ways.
    The concept of modifying the scripting features of Bridge didn't stop there. In Lib1, we extended the File object prototype in Bridge:
    File.isFileType() - give it a comma delimited list of extensions, returns true if file matches any of the extensions
    File.isPhotoshop() is the file one of "PSD,PDD,8BPS,JPEG,JPG,GIF,"
    File.isPageMaker()
    File.isInDesign()
    File.isPDF()
    File.isIllustrator()
    File.isOpenableIllustrator()
    File.isOpenablePhotoshop()
    File.isScript()
    File.getExtension( noDecode ) - gets you the extension of the file - noDecode is a boolean - if true it will not perform a decodeURI on the result. Default is false
    File.getNameWithoutExtension( noDecode ) - gets you the name of the file without the extension. noDecode is a boolean - if true it will not perform a decodeURI on the result. Default is false
    File.getFileWithExtension( ext ) - creates a new File object with the original file name and the provided extension. You provide only the extension ( "jpg" ), the function adds the dot (".jpg").
    We also extended the Thumbnail object prototype:
    Thumbnail.isFileType( ext ) - same as File.isFileType but for Thumbnails.
    Then there's handy functions like:
    ensureUniqueFile( file ) - pass it a file object. If the file object exists, it will return a new File object with a "(integer)" added to the filename. So if My Documents/foo.jpg exists, and you called:
    ensureUniqueFile( new File( "~/My Documents/foo.jpg ) );
    the result would be a file object: My Documents/foo(1).jpg
    These next two are defined in lib3:
    ensureUniqueFolder( folder ) - does the same thing for a folder
    And one of my personal favorites:
    verifyFolder( folder, silent ) - if you give it a Folder, it will verify that the folder actually exists, creating the entire path to the folder if necessary. "silent" is a boolean. If true - it will just make the folder (and path to the folder). If false (the default) it will flip up a "Folder does not exist - Do you want to create it" alert to the user, to give them the choice. IF the user opts not to create the folder, it returns undefined.
    If My Documents is empty (no files/folders), and you want to write a file into My Documents/1/2/3/My Folder/foo.txt
    var f = new File( "~/My Documents/1/2/3/My Folder/foo.txt" );
    var folder = verifyFolder( f.parent, true );
    f.open( "w" );
    f.write( "Four score and seven years ago..." );
    f.close();
    The result of that ditty will be the successful writing of the file, and the creation of the entire path to the file. It will only create the path elements that do not exist.

  • Static setting the lwapp AP ip address

    Is there any way to set the static ip address to lwapp AP? If I have changed the controller management ip address, The lwapp AP is not discover and join the controller without DHCP server. right?
    I have tried to set lwapp AP ip address by console, but failed. Is any good idea?

    Hi Ankur,
    I have tried that way, but failed.
    But I have found description below about lwapp AP ip address configuration on cisco web site.
    "The access point stores the address in
    NVRAM so that the static address is preserved across a reboot or power cycle. This is important to remember because an access point static IP address can only be changed through a WLC interface. If you move a statically addressed access point to a different IP network, it will not be able to forward traffic."
    If i have to change lwapp AP's ip address, the WLC is needed.
    Anyway, Thanks your support.
