Setting up mail for my fiance

My fiance has an account on the same computer as I do. We are trying to set his mail up so that he can just click on the stamp at the bottom to get his mail. (He is not happy with his mail service) So I tried to set his up the same way mine is set up, and it didn't work. His mail says "working offline" and will not send or receive. I looked at how mine was set up under 'accounts', and did his the same way, but with his e-mail address. ( Mine is incoming.verizon.net, so I put his as incoming.musicandevents.com.) I did the same thing for outgoing. No luck. So I went to mail help, and it is telling me to click on things I cannot see. Can someone take us through this process? We would appreciate it. We are not good at figuring this stuff out.
Thanks, Becky

For me it says "File corrupted" and does not install. Unfortunately it says this even when trying this technique. I tried getting other software installed and it fails with the same error. I cannot help but think the device is defective. I have updated to the latest firmware (v12), and I have tried hard resetting the device. Neither of these helped. I tried installing the application from the device itself as well as from the PC suite. I also cannot install the PC Suite tools because of the same error. Any ideas on how to get at least MfE working? This problem is killing my user experience with this phone. Everything else seems dandy.

  • Setting up Mail for the first time with OSX Server 10.5.6

I just got done reading the 100+ page mail services administration manual. A few things are unclear and I wanted to clear those up prior to embarking on my first adventure configuring mail services.
The questions I have are the following:
    1. When using mail for incoming and outgoing, do I 'have' to use local DNS services or can I simply change the MX records by my DNS Provider?
    2. I have more than one IP on the server using the 'IP Alias' command. Will the mail server be able to distinguish the different mail domains base on IP Address, or will virtual domains need to be configured?
    3. If virtual domains need to be configured, is this configuration simple or is it semi complex?
    4. Provided the answer to questions two and three, what is the best configuration for the firewall settings on the server? Allow IMAP inbound, POP3, and SMTP? What else?
    Thanks in advance

    1. Mail service relies heavily on DNS. You may run your own DNS servers on the same network as your mail server or you can use a DNS provider to host your zone data including your MX record.
    2. Your server will listen on all available network devices by default. It will only accept those messages for the hosts that are listed in the general pane, the local host list, or the virtual domain list under the advanced pane. No virtual domains need to be configured if all users are real users (i.e. shows up in WorkGroup Manager).
    3. As stated in (2), you do not need virtual domains to receive e-mail for multiple hostnames or domain names, but you may want to do so if you want separate accounts with same usernames for different domains. E.g. [email protected] and [email protected] will go to two separate inboxes. It's not that difficult, but rather tedious if you already have a lot of e-mail accounts set up.
    4. You must allow SMTP through the firewall to receive mail from the outside world. Depending on your clients, you may open IMAP or POP. There are no other specific ports necessary for mail to work at this level... except for Submission (587). Many ISP's block port 25 for mail clients. You may want to use port 587 for submissions so that your mobile users don't have to switch back and forth between the two ports when they change locations. This is done by editing /etc/imapd.conf manually.

  • Setting up Mail for Exchange with a Go3 key

I work at a company where in order to access the OWA login screen from the web, I have to first go through a webvpn login screen, which makes me generate a random number from a device on my keychain (Go3 key) to enter into the webvpn login screen. Then, I am taken to the OWA login screen where I can login using my normal network credentials.
Can Mail for Exchange on my Nokia E61 be set up with this type of access?

Sorry, I cannot think of a way of doing this.
I assume it is an SSL VPN gateway you use?

  • Setting up Mail for different locations

I have enjoyed using a MacBook Pro at several locations including my home and office. I use wireless at home (airport extreme) and connect using ethernet or wireless at work. While my programs and safari work seamlessly at both locations, I cannot access my e-mail using Mail unless I am at home on my home network. I used the Connection Doctor while at work, but it only indicated that I wasn't connected. While it was saying that, I was simultaneously searching for solutions to this problem on safari and updating my software using software update. Does anyone have any suggestion for how to set up Mail at work?

I would suggest posting this question in the "Applications > Mail and Address book" Discussion board.

  • Setting up Mail for Exchange on E71

I'm completely new to any smartphones so please bear with my ignorance. I have an E71 and am trying to get mail for exchange working. My company runs sbs2003 on our company server.
I have input all the required information (server name, domain name, login, etc.) and I keep getting told I need to set the phone to a secure connection and I have set this setting to yes already.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

You can go to Nokia site, there's a new version of mail for exchange support apps(mfe) & some tips in updating mails from server.

  • Setting up Mail for IMAP through Gmail

    Hi,
To sync mail on my desktop, laptop, and iPad, I've set it up to link them through Gmail using IMAP. (I chose not to use iCloud because it won't let me use my own domain name for the e-mail address...and this is my business mail.) Everything works fine; the In-Box and the half dozen folders I have for different projects all appear on my Mac and on Gmail, and syn perfectly.
    But....
I now have 2 "Sent" folders in Mail, which each behaves somewhat differently, and 3 Trash folders, which also behave somewhat differently.
    SENT FOLDERS
One Sent folder is in the top level, under Mailboxes. It appears to be purely local to the computer, and stores messages in the normal fashion. The second one is in the Gmail folder below it, and syncs with gmail. In that folder, all messages are shown as addressed to me. In the account preferences, under Mailbox Behaviors, I tried checking the box to "Store sent messages on the server." But all that did was to flag the top level Sent folder with an error message saying: "The Sent mailbox could not be created on the mail server. The local “Sent Messages (Gmail)” mailbox was created instead."
Is there any way to fix this so that I have only one Sent folder (and no error flag)? I don't need 2 copies of every sent message.
    TRASH FOLDERS
The situation is similar for Trash, except that I have 3 folders. A the top level, Trash has two sub-folders one labeled "On my Mac," the other labeled "Gmail." I have not checked the box to "store deleted messages on the server."  The third trash folder is in the Gmail folder below. For now, all the deleted messages seem to go into the "On my Mac" folder. But it's odd to have the other two trash folders.
I would be grateful for any suggestions.
(By the way, none of this is a problem on my iPad, where Mail has just one Sent folder and one Trash folder, and they both function just as expected.)

About 45 minutes after posting my question, I found a web tutorial that addressed all these issues and explaind step-by-step how to fix them. The suggested settings worked perfectly and fixed all the issues.
I tried to delete my original posting here, but didn't see how to do that. So instead, here's the link to the tutorial ... in case anyone else is facing the same problems.

  • How do I set up Mail for ATT email?  It was previously working and does not work now.

I had my ATT email working.  It will only let me set it up as an IMAP account via Yahoo, however the ATT web site says that I should be setting it up as a POP3.  Either way it's a no go.  Has anyone had an ATT IMAP email account that worked and all of a sudden decided not to work?

I see dropdown menus for SMTP SSL and IMAP/POP SSL. I have them both set as "Require"
Do not to this if your server is handling incoming mail from outside your network.
Few remote mail servers will use SSL, so if your server requires SSL then you will not be able to receive mail from outside your domain.
'Use', on the other hand, advertises the fact your server supports SSL, so clients and remote servers can use if if they like, but this still allows other mail in.
What should "Authentication" be - "Login" or "Plain"
Do not use Plain unless you absolutely trust all your clients (i.e. they're all on a LAN or all using SSL). Plain sends an unencrypted password over the wire, which is susceptible to sniffing.
what will the client be using?
    Whatever you set it to.
The client complains about a correct root certificate not being installed).
Are you using a self-signed certificate? if so, you're going to get that unless you do a lot of extra work. Getting a real certificate from a trusted authority should resolve this.
As for the slow connections, the use of SSL shouldn't significantly impact connection or delivery/transfer times, so something else is amiss.

  • Setting up Mail for Cox

    Hello all,
Has anyone gotten the mail utility to work with the Cox internet provider? Seems as if I'm having problems sending mail. One issue could be is that cox does not require authentication for sending outgoing mail, while the itouch mail setup does not have an option for no authentication.
If anyone has gotten mail to work properly with cox, your settings used would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Are you on your own WIFI network using Cox? Or are you on another ISPs network?
Cox does not allow mail being sent from outside it's network. So if you are not on your home WIFI network, you will not be able to send mail. You can still access your webmail for Cox and send when you are on another network.
The reason they do this is to try to avoid SPAM from their servers.
You can read more about this from Cox.net's support website.

When I click synchronise, it appears as if it syncs and disconnects, but it doesn't update anything. If I try the same when I'm looking at the mail for exchange settings, then it tries to connect and says error connecting, try again later.
So i switched to always on, it worked, back to manual, and it seems that the first attempt was successful, but I know it'll stop working later.
