i am looking at not using tpm as a protector and using DRA on windows 7 as my protector. is this setup possible and if so can some one please direct me in the right direction to get group police setup.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MBAM Server\Enabled\CMIntegration to 0 and then restart the server it will allow you to re-add the feature with a different config.

How to set up my elderly parent with Mac so that I can use remote access to help her?
I want to set my elderly mother up with a new Mac mini so that I can use remote access to show her how use email, browse the internet, share photos. (She lives in KY, I live in OR)
She has had an iPhone and an iPad for about 6 months and she can barely use them without becoming frustrated. I want to be able to see her screen with her and show her how to do things.
My plan is to set her up with a Mac mini and I'll use my MacBookAir to remote into her system. I'm buying the mini to configure and then I'll mail it to her.
My question is whether to try to use Back to My Mac or Teamviewer for remote access
I have broadband with comcast and she has broadband with Access Cable. Each have their company modem/routers--neither of us have Airport Express.
I have my own iCloud account and she has her own. If I use Back to My Mac, it seems that I would need to set up a separate account on my Mac that would sync to her iCloud account.
Teamviewer seems easier because I don't have to use a separate account. Any advice? Anything that I'm not thinking about?As Linc says, you can establish a Screen Sharing session via iMessage and Facetime. The advantage of these 2 approaches is that once your Mom gets used to using them, she will be more comfortable using them to communicate with you. I've talked to my Mom via iChat (aka iMessage) more since she learned to use them, then in all the years before that (including when I was a child ). And just being able to see your Mom via Facetime can be useful when you want to gage how she is doing.
However, if you are any distance from your Mom, they you want backup methods incase something goes wrong.
So beside iMessage/Facetime, the next best would be Back-to-My-Mac via iCloud, however, you will want to establish her Mac as using your account so that you have the right to take control remotely.
An alternative that does not mix up your iCloud acounts would be to use TeamViewer.com (which has an unattended mode so you can do off-hour maintenance when your Mom is not around; or check up on her to find out if she is dating - Turns out if I had been paying attention, I would not have been blind-sided by my Mom getting Married again last Summer - she is in her 80's! ).
LogMeIn.com, as dwb says, can be used the same was as TeamViewer.com
Both LogMeIn.com and TeamViewer.com are very good at making it easy to get through the home router and if you are having any problems connecting using other Methods, TeamViewer.com or LogMeIn.com will most likely not have any issues.
Back-to-My-Mac allows screen sharing and file sharing so you can transfer files as well as control the screen.
Screen Sharing via Messages allows cooperative file transfer. That is to say, you can try pushing a file to your Mom, but she has to accept each transfer.
TeamViewer.com has an unattended file transfer mode.
LogMeIn.com requires the paid version to transfer files. However, there are other ways to transfer files, such as downloading them from the original source on your Mom's system while using screen sharing, using Dropbox (or similar), emailing them, etc...
Of course if you are really network savvy, you can roll your own via ssh tunnels, port forwarding routers, getting dynamic DNS names, transferring files via scp, or tunneling AFP file sharing, tunneling your screen sharing sessions. Lots of fun and excitement playing with terminal commands -
I have itunes set up on a PC with all my music, apps, etc. I want to stop using PC and move my iTunes and files to a Mac I bought and synch my iPhone with the Mac. Can I just synch iPhone with Mac iTunes and will it copy all my stuff onto Mac, or will I have to copy files from PC onto Mac?

How do I set up different network locations with different wifi?
I am having an issue setting up different network locations with different wifi profiles on each. I want to do this to enable fast switching of wireless networks. In my house I have two wireless networks, my own personal one and one that is created by using a wifi modem supplied by my company. If I use the company wifi network then I can get into all my work applications without having to enable VPN access separately. It is also faster. However, they also block many applications including sending email from my personal email account, dropbox, etc. So throughout the day I need to switch wireless networks back and forth.
I was looking for a faster way to switch and thought I would try network locations. Was able to set up a new network location without issue. However it seems that whatever wireless preferences, changes, or wifi network order I put into my "Work" location it carries over to my other location which is the standard "Automatic".
What I would like it to have my "Work" location only to be able to connect to my work wifi and my other network (Automatic) to just connect to my home wifi only. That way I can enable faster wifi switching and can even use my launcher program (Alfred) to provide shortcuts.
Anyway to do this?

However, I tried to build the Automator application as discussed and cannot get it to work. Very much a novice at Applescript and Shell Script but have created customized Automator services before. All I get now is "Shell Script command encountered an error". No more detail. I copied and pasted the script as shown in the email thread. Is there any other line or command I need to place in front of it?

how do i set up the time capsule with only a wireless net work? it keeps asking me to plug in a cable and i do not have one.

Get v5 utility and then you can hold down the option key and select the right mode.
If you have lion, just install it.. For ML follow this.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.

2. Download and install unpkg.

Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool. -

Your first call should be to Verizon support to ask them if you turn off the wireless on the Actiontec router....will it affect any of the features/functions of the FIOS system?
If yes, then it would be best to leave the Actiontec router "as is" and connect the Time Capsule using Ethernet in Bridge Mode as a back up device only (wireless is turned off on the Time Capsule).
If you want to use the dual band (and likely much faster) wireless capability of the Time Capsule, then you should turn off the wireless on the Actiontec device to help prevent wireless interference effects that will likely occur when two wireless routers are in close proximity to each other.
Again, the Time Capsule would be connected to the Actiontec router using an Ethernet connection from one of the LAN <-> ports on the Actiontec router to the WAN port (circle icon) on the Time Capsule. Configure the Time Capsule in Bridge Mode as well in this type of configuration.
Bottom line....what Verizon says will pretty much dictate how you can set up the TIme Capsule. -

I can't activate FaceTime & iMessage on my iPad ... Would this have anything to do with already having these set up on my iPhone with the same apple ID?
As long as you're logged into the same AppleID on both devices, this is not a problem. It's only a problem if you're logged into a different AppleID and then try to associate FaceTime with an email that tied to the other AppleID.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases. -

When I got my iPad2, I had a gmail account, and set it up w/ that email account. As a result, I was given a different apple id - stupid of me. This also resulted in me getting a different iCloud. When I got my iPhone, I used my iPod account (linked to a newly set up Yahoo account), because I wanted all of my iTunes song on my phone. So now I have two apple ID's and two iClouds, and my phone and my iPad are on separate iClouds. I hate it, and I don't know if I can somehow merge the two. I want to buy additional iCloud storage, but only if I can do so on ONE account that is for both devices. Does anyone know if/how I can accomplish this? Thanks so much.

Unless you use a very expensive DRM protection measure, I don't see how it's possible. How can you prevent someone from sending a file with the password to someone else?

Can you print from an iPad 2 using 3G in a home with no other computer or wifi by using an iPhone 5 hot spot connection if the printer has been set up in another place with live wifi? I know this question is loaded but my dad lives in a rural area and is wanting a printer to use occasionally. He doesn't want to deal with a computer and I keep his iPad updated for him at my home. In that case, it should be possible. I haven't tried this directly, but I believe it should work.
You'll need to get an actual AirPrint compatible Printer.

Once you have the compatible printer, using the Hotspot feature from the iPhone he'll have to create the Wifi bubble form the iPhone, and connect the Printer to that Wifi network.
Then connect the iPad to that same Wifi network provided by the iPhone. When all that is done, the printer should appear in any of the Apps that can Print under the Action Arrow button.
For instance in email, pressing the action arrow should show a Print option. In there the printer should appear.
Alternatively you can simply buy a wireless router and setup the network through there even if there is no internet attached. Connect the wireless printer to the router network, and connect the iPad or iPhone to that same wifi network to print. -
