Setting up new mini with sisters old software???

Im trying to export all of my sisters songs from her ipod software to my mini, is that possible or do i have to use my own software that i got with my mini? please help!?

I'm assuming that by "ipod software," you mean iTunes? The iTunes that you got with your iPod, and the one that she got with hers is the same. You should be able to plug it into her computer, and upload the songs just like you would on your computer. If your iPod is set to automatically sync with your iTunes when you plug it in, you will have to set it to manually update, so that it doesn't delete all your songs when you plug it into her computer. Switch it to manual update in iTunes preferences while your iPod is connected, and click on iPod.

If you synced it many times, you have to have a backup. It's just a question of how old that backup is now. When did you last sync?
First of all launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see any backups for you iPad in that window? If so, how new is the newest backup? That will be the backup that you will want to use. But remember that if you use that backup and it is one month old, you can only restore from that date back in time. Anything that you did on the iPad in the past month will not be in that backup.
Turn on the new iPad Minin and start activating OTA via WiFi. You will get to a certain point in the process where you will be given the choice to Set up as new, Restore from iCloud - or Restore from iTunes. You will want to select Restore from iTunes.
That is the short and sweet version. There are step by step instructions in this article. This applies to the mini as well as the iPad 4 or the iPad 3 for that matter.

I used icloud to sync my new mini2 with my old ipad-3 everything went fine. I use itunes to BU my ipad & mini, and do not need family icloud. Is there any reason to stay signed in to icloud with my devices. Won't my ipad & mini sync contacts, calender etc. to each other with out icloud?

Thanks Winston. I asked because I can't get my Mini2 calender to sync with my ipad or outlook calender. Trying to eliminate what I don't need. I have everything set up properly AFAIK. Do I need something like a Exchange account to get the Mini calender to sync, or should it sync automatically.
Ipad has been upgraded to iso 8.1.2. and it sync's to outlooks calender and vice versa, just Mini2 calender won't sync.

That doesn't help me. For itunes it brings me to the express lane which doesn't help because my case is not in it. It's all standard procedure things. I understand those but my situation is different. The combination of a passport forgotten and an non-existing email adress (and birth dates that are not correct or not accepted). What I need is my password emailed to another email adress than the original one because that no longer exists.

You were already provided the answer. If you do not have a backup of the phone while the photos were on the phone, they are gone. When you restore your phone from an old backup, anything that has been saved to the phone since that backup is deleted. Sorry.

Unable to sync my new Iphone with my old Iphones backup

My Iphone 3G didn't recharge anymore, so now they gave me a complete new Iphone 3G.
The problem I have atm is that i cannot sync the new Iphone with the old Iphones backup. My contacts were only sychronised between the Iphone and Itunes, but because of the different IMEI number i cannot get my contacts back...

3) tried syncing calendar only.... Works fine..
4) Theres no conflict resolution poping up.
5) I have various clanders being shown on my Q -10.
I have disabled 'Home' calendar and Kept "BBLink' calendar ON (abled) as I was getting double entries after syncing with mycomputer.
Would this create any issues with the entiries/ changes that I make either on the Computer or my BB?

As a work around , you can create a VM without installing OS and configure the Vlan of VNic , then export it .
The new VM will be with Vlan ID when you import the "export file".(note : you need to select "copy the virtual machine " in the tab "choose import type" during importing ) .

Ahhh! New iPod, setting up another library with my old iPod!

So, I got a new iPod5 to replace my old iPod4, and gave said iPod4 to my sister. How on Earth can I delete all the stuff from the iPod4 and set up a new library with it? I had no trouble Putting my iPod5 on MY library, but since my sister and I have VERY different music tastes, she has her own library on a different user name. Can anyone tell me how I can put this old iPod4 on that library?

Restoring your iPod does not delete iTunes. All they are saying is that as you are about to remove everything from your iPod make sure you have a back up. Common sense really. iPods are often restored as a method of troubleshooting problems so you want to make sure you have something to put back. You should back up iTunes as a matter of course especially if you have purchased downloads, your own CDs can always be re-added even if it's a pain but other stuff you can lose forever. If I buy a new machine (probably a Mini for home-theatre use) with 10.7.x Lion on it, do I still need to re-purchase Lion for my current MBPro that currently has 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on it?

Using my Mac mini with my old Cube - questions

Hey, all-
It was my hope to use my new mini along with my old Cube (the Cube to be an additional hard drive more than anything else) but I can't seemto figure out how to make them work together. The firewire cable I have connecting the two isn't letting the mini recognize the Cube for whatever reason. And I can't see how both of them can be used in the Target Disk Mode since they connect to my Apple flat screen with different connectors.
Hopefully, this is an easy fix somehow - I'm willing to look like a newb just as long as I can make this work.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

When connected together with an ethernet cable, you would then need to ensure that the cube was set to allow 'sharing' (in the Sharing preference pane) and give the Cube a share name and then on the mini, in the Finder, go to Network in the Go menu, or Connect to Server in the Go menu and type in the share name given to the Cube. It may ask you for an ID and password that is valid on the Cube, but once entered, will mount the Cube's drive on the mini's desktop.
Firewire connection is going to be a bit faster than ethernet, though for anything but large files you probably won't notice much, but the advantage of using ethernet is that you don't need to do anything to the Cube but start it normally.

If you plan on using CD/DVD media in the future, you may as well
get yourself a USB CD/DVD burner.
As for transfering from the old Mini, you can connect with Firewire
or you could connect with ethernet. Since the "old" Mini was
running 10.4.11, I'm guessing it has FW400 so you will need a cable
and/or adapter to go FW400->FW800. However, you didn't say
what model so I am guessing.
Also, if your version of InDesign is PowerPC and not Intel,
it will not run on the new Mini. Lion now longer has support
for PowerPC applications. The same will be true of any other
applications.

Can I link an OS10.4.11 Mini to a new Mini with Lion?

After lightning fried the video card in my Mini, which runs Tiger, I'm looking at a new Mini. My question is: Can I link the old Mini to the new one and use it as a back-up hard drive and CD/DVD burner? What do I need to do to make it work? Aside from the video card issue, everything else seems to be in working order, just no color on the display. Also, I have an old iMac drive (OX 9) in a Mini Stack case hooked to my current Mini. Can I still use that for data storage too, or are 3 different operating systems just going to screw up everything?

You can either boot the old Mac mini in 'FireWire Target Disk Mode' which turns it in to a glorified hard disk, or you can boot it but have Screen Sharing turned on so you can remotely control it from the new Mac.
When it is booted in FireWire Target Disk Mode all disks on it will appear on your new Mac. You would plug it in to the new Mac via a FireWire cable. With Screen Sharing you would access it over Ethernet not FireWire.
