Setting Up New System: Hints??

I am putting together my new system, with the MSI 865PE-Neo 2 Rev 1 board (don't know what bios is on it yet). I got stuck with CL3 Elixer dual channel memory (2 512 Meg sticks) (vice the 2.5CL I ordered). Any suggestions for setup?
Are there any problems with this Elixer memmory?

Hehehehe... Nice Shot a this friend ... There really is a problem... but the problem lies with me... and the problem is... $$$ Prices of DDR400 and above RAMs are sky-high now in my local market and the prices are flactuating all the times...
By December, I will be getting a 3GHz CPU and Dual Channel Kingston DDR 400 RAMs when I have the $$$ from my bonus

I would not suggest raising the base clock to OC on that CPU. You may want to stop at 4.3GHz. That base clock frequency effects more than just the CPU.

We have set up a new Operating Unit in Oracle Apps. Now when I am trying to create a new Customer in that Operating Unit, I am receiving following error:
ERROR MESSAGE:-Please set the Receivables system options for this operating unit and ensure that the MO: Operating Unit profile option is correctly set with an operating unit that is set up in Receivables.
We do have MO: Operating Unit and MO: Default Operating Unit set properly at Responsibility level for the Responsibility through which I am accessing this form.

Best way to set up a new system with RAID?

I'll be buying a new Intel Mac Pro when Leopard comes out (for my office). I can get it with as many drives as fits into the bays (4?). My question is, what's the best way to set up a disk redundancy? I'm assuming I want one of the drives for Time Machine. That leaves 3; what kind of RAID do I want to maximize safety if and when one of the drives dies? I'd also like to optimize disk access time, as a secondary consideration. So, 1) what RAID do I want and how many drives will that take, and 2) how do I set it up? Presumably the thing will arrive all set up with Leopard installed. So, will I have to hose that installation to change the file system to RAID? Any problem with that (is it worth it)? If so, what disk do I boot from to set that up, and what's the right way to do this and get a working system back?

Leopard wont be out befor the second half of this year, sofar i cannot tell you what options you are going to have with the new system. Seems like with time machine is going to be a perfect backup for your whole system.
10.4.x:
Software RAID you can do 0 -1:
To setup a RAID of your system you have to format the drive and setup the RAID type you want from the disk utility.
To have some security i suggest the "mirror" options but you are going to lose some perfomance, depending you want is your main job it mighn't be noticed.
RAID 5:
This would be the nicest option but you need to buy an additional RAID controller. This is mostly used on servers and not on client computers.

Will not even open "System Preferences" for user whose profile info was transferred. (Will for "Administrator")
Cannot use Firefox or Thunderbird, profile missing.

Select the most recent one and post the contents -- the text, please, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report.

New system recommendations and suggestions

I am in the market (finally) for a new system, and even though I had issues with my old MSI 975X Platinum PUE at the end, it served me well for over 6 years, so I'm pretty much sold by MSI.
This is what I am looking at right now, but I would like to know if there are known issues with the compatibility/functionality of these components:
-MSI Z87 MPower MAX
-Intel i7-4770K CPU
-Corsair Vengeance 16G (2x8G) RAM - (I may bump this to 32G)
-MSI GeForce GTX 760 2G DDR5 Video
-UltraX4 Extreme PSU
-Win7 Ulitmate 64Bit
I will also be getting another smaller (500GB) HD to use just for the OS and my VMWare items in addition to the 1.5T and 1T drives I have now.
Another question I have is that the CPU comes with a stock fan. Will this be sufficient or should I be looking at something else?
And being that my budget is around $1000 - $1200, is there something better you can recommend that will match the performance of what I selected?

For your needs, I see no reason for 32GB of RAM. You don't want to mix two kits anyway even if they have the exact same part numbers. They may be from different batches or even have different chips on them. On my Z87, I am only using 8GB of RAM and having no problems.
Great choice on that CPU cooler! All my rigs have 9900's on them. They do outstanding and have helped me attain some impressive OC's using them.
The Corsair HX850W is what I use as well. Excellent PSU!
Probably one port is DVI-s and the other is DVI-d? The BIOS will probably recognize the discrete card is installed and set the graphics automatically to PEG mode.
A word of caution though. The GTX 760 may need a Legacy VBIOS to work right out of the box. If that happens, a UEFI/BIOS update may help or the VBIOS will need to be flashed. The onboard graphics can be used in the meantime to get the flashing done and the GTX 760 taken care of if it needs it. That is why some of us recommended the GTX 6xx series. They usually don't have any problems out of the box.

Possible to migrate installation w/ SLD to new system using 'tar'/'untar'?

I have a CRM installation with TREX, that I need to move from one unix system to another (same patch level). As SLD is setup, can I 'tar' the entire installation on the old system, 'untar' the bundle on the new system, and bring the SAP setup back into function mode? It should be doable if SLD is not setup. But since there is SLD bundled in the setup, I am not sure if 'tar' is the way to port the installation. I can give the new system the same hostname, but ip address would be different. Any pointer is highly appreciated! Many Thanks!

now when i am running adcfgclone i am getting this below error and two java virtual machine launcher prompts which are

How to do initialization for new system setup?

Hi, Experts:
I need your help! Can you tell me your suggestion please?
This is a new system setup. We are about to test on the Initialization/Delta process.
The data source is 2LIS_13_VDITM 7.0 version. The test is on the PSA.
I have done an EARLY Initialization. On R3 system, if a billing record is canceled, we are able to capture it in the RSA7. Then, we did a delta load which were successfully tranferred to BW system.
However, if I created a new order and push it to Billing, I am NOT able to find it on RSA7 of the Delta queue.
That would mean, the delta queue could not capture any new billing records.
Then, besides the early init, we tried to do an Initialization without Data Transfer in the hope that this could resolve the new records issue, it doesn't allow to do it, saying "no 2 initialization".
What is the right way to do initialization??

Changing it to new delta mode need not clean out everything in BW.
its a change in R/3 side on how delta records will be pushed.
Delta queue will remain the same in R/3.
But since you have already missed some records and you are not sure which one.
Also the existing records in the delta queue are not the correct one as these are not bringing new records according to you.
So I will suggest you after you have done the changes to queued delta....do a fresh start.
Delete the data from the DSO.
1)delete the existing and do a new init without data transfer so that a new delta queue is created.
2)Fill the set up tables first and start the full repair loads to DSO.
3)once all the history is loaded then you can schedule the delta.

I have lost all files in inbox 2 times. On a new system with Win 8.1

At startup, system goes into "disk repair" for a few minutes then boots normally.
The only thing that appears to be missing is files in thunderbird inbox.
System is a Lenovo k450e. It first happened in September about 3 weeks after
migrating email to the new system. Then happened again today. (11/7) Lenovo tech
support was no help. They suggested reinstalling thunderbird. They thought
I might have an "incompatable" version.
I am running the latest Ver ( 31.2.0) . I have 3 email accounts set up. Yesterday, I did delete a bunch of files from the Inbox on one of the IDs. On Both occasions the inboxes of the 2 active accounts were lost. The inbox on the inactive account appears ok. That account has not received any messages on this system. Also, I have never performed the "file compression"
or what ever it is called in thunderbird on this system...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Win 8.1 is more sensitive to this.

New system does not boot properly

I just set up a new system with:
a MS-6728 Neo2 FIS2R Mobo,
1gb Geil PC-3500 RAM (2x512),
2.6C proc.
2 Maxtor 120gb IDE drives RAID 0 with the onboard promise controller.
Lite-On DVD burner
ATI radeon 9800 video card
Enermax 300 watt power supply with:
3.3v - 28amp
5v - 30amp
12v 22amp
170watt total 3.3/5 combined
My problem is that my system NEVER boots up normally. It always freezes in the bios startup. The D-bracket stops at almost every possible combination of led's, which according to the manual the problems were: Testing RTC, Initialize Video interface, Testing memory, Initializing floppy controller, Memory detection, Decompressing bios to ram, possibly more. Sometimes I also just get beeping, either a continuous beep or 8 beeps. A few times it would display the bios startup screen, but halfway down would be gibberish characters and would be locked up. When I then turn the computer off then on again, the bios is reset at least somewhat(i know because I usually disable the full screen image on startup) and says memory timings are too tight, and I have the choice to enter bios or hit any key to automatically fix things. If I hit any key it will boot up ok. However when I restart/turn off the computer, the next time it again does not boot. I tried upping the ram voltages from 2.5-2.9v, and that seems to stay that way in the bios, even when it resets itself. Everything else is set to auto/slow. If I try to manually adjust the memory timings, even to the slowest possible settings, it does not boot, and I must turn it on/off a few times till the bios resets again, with the boot process stopping at one of the possiblilitys mentioned above. Using the info tab on speedfan, I got the memory info, and it displayed the voltage at 2.5v, not sure what that means but it is strange.
What I have already attempted:
I sent back the ram and got a new set, which hasn't changed anything. The first time the other ram failed memtest, this time it passed(for about 2 hrs). So I don't think its the ram.
I borrowed an antec truepower 430w powersupply, which had no effect.
I went back to bios version 1.3 from 1.9, which also seems to have no effect.
I was hoping to overclock the system a bit and enable performance mode etc etc, but now I'll be happy to just not have to go through a song and dance everytime I restart the computer. This is only the second computer I have built from scratch, and the first with raid, but that seemed to all go ok. Please help me diagnose the problem!

E.g...Native? P-ATA Only...all of those settings
For me...sometimes XP will install and boot...but eventually system is unstable and XP crashes and corrupts itself...Event Manager errors different each time
Someone mentioned problems with Maxtor and AMI BIOS...anything I should keep in mind?
Sorry about all the different questions. I'm sure exactly where my problem lies. MSI thinks it may be my memory AND/OR on-board IDE controller since I can't get the on-board Intel RAID setup to consistently "see" and setup my RAID drives...even when it has worked...XP doesn't like the Intel configured RAID drives. Also tried just one S-ATA drive through on-board Intel and Promise. Next I will try a plain old IDE Hard Drive...no S-ATA...and make sure my memory passes memtest86+ testing.
Any other gems you can offer for this config??? Thanks.

Add new system to an Existing project in Change Request in Solution Manager

Is it ok to add new systems and remove systems to an existing Project in Solution Manager with Change Request Management activated?
Currently, Change request is already set-up in our solution landscape, however, a new BI Dev and QA systems were created to replace the old Dev and QA systems that was initially set-up in our Charm. Can you please share with me the steps that I need to do to successfully remove old Dev and QA from Charm and replace them with the new systems? Is it safe to do this in an open project and maintenance cycle?

One more new System in CC 5.1

We have been using CC5.1 for quite some time now. We have installed another RTA 5.1 in new system which is 4.6C.They are in the same SLD.
Currently, CC5.1 is being used on ABAP+JAVA stack (called
as SERVER1). Now we want to include new system which is only ABAP (called SERVER2) runs on 4.6C.
My understanding is as follows, kindly correct me if required:
1.First I have to bring new server (SERVER2) in existing SLD, if it is not there (but currently they are in common SLD).
2.Create a JCO to this system in existing J2EE server.
3.Create a user with necessary authorizations(but I presume that one user is already created with all the authorizations, so there should not be any need to create a new one since we want to use the existing user id).
My Queries are:
1.There is one option called Master User Source in config tab. Right now, SERVER1 is specified. Does it mean that, if I want to synchronize User/Role/Profile data from SERVER2, first I need to specify SERVER2 here then run backgroung jobs?
That means each time you run these jobs, you need to first select the Source Sytem from here and run? If so, then what happens if we schedule them on daily/weekly or monthly basis?
2.There is one option called "Logical System" as well in config tab, which says that if you want to do analysis for multiple systems with the same rule set, define them here.
But how to go about it?
The bottom line is that, I want to use existing J2EE server for these 2 systms : SERVER1 and SERVER2. Kindly let me know the steps to be followed.
Response would be appreciated and awarded, since it quite urgent.

Hi Faisal,
1. No, the Master User Source is just the first search system to retrieve user data like first/last name. The search will continue in the other systems if the user is not found in the Master User Source. You do not need to change anything here!
2. Logical systems can be used if you have multiple systems having the same ruleset. You do not have to use logical systems, you can also create each system and load the rule data individually. With logical systems, you would group the systems under the name of the logical system and load the rule data/generate the rules for the logical system.

Fine tuning my new system

I have a G4 duel with lots of 3rd party software installed and that has caused all kinds of issues with final cut express HD.
As a result I have just purchased an end of line G5 17" imac at a good discount, it shipped with Panther OSX(10.3.5) Superdrive, 1.8g processor, but alas it only has a 80 gig hard drive. the good news is the company have thrown in an extra gig of ram. and a boxed edition of Tiger.
What would be the best way to set up my new system, the only software i want to use is Final Cut Express, I have the 1.0 version, 1.01 upgrade and the HD upgrade.
1. What system would you use
2. What version of final cut would you load
3. How much of the system do i need to install.

On a Quantum hard disk drive - they were the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) hard drive provider for Apple, you will see three or four pairs of pins on the green circuit board. They are labled:
AO . .
A1 . .
A2 . .
If no pins are connected, you have SCSI ID Zero This was the standard setting from the factory.
If you short out the pins beside AO .__. , you have designated SCSI ID One.
If you short out the pins beside A1 .__. , you have designated SCSI ID Two.
If you short out the pins beside A2 .__. , you have designated SCSI ID Four.
These values can be added together to get other SCSI IDs. If you have a jumper beside AO AND A1, that will add up to SCSI ID Three.
Some of the quantum drives used tiny black plastic jumpers with tiny metal contacts. I have yet to find a store that sells the tiny ones. I get my larger jumpers from old PC motherboards that are being thrown away. A small piece of aluminum foil will work as a jumper in a pinch. Just make sure it soed not fall off and short something else out!

CD-ROM drives are set at the factory as ID 3. Internal drives are set at ID 0. I set my external SCSI drive at SCSI 1 so it does not conflict with the internal drive. Internal Zip drives are set at ID 5 and external Zip drives let you choose between 5 and 6. I set my burners at ID 4. Come up with a master plan for your devices like scanners and burners. Apple System Profiler will give you info on the device ID. If the computer fails to boot, turn off all but one SCSI device and make sure of its ID. Then check each subsequent device by powering up only one device at a time while booting from a CD at ID #3.
