Setting up old email on new Ibook

Hi. New Apple user. I just got by Ibook G4 and I love it so far. I am trying to set my old email address on it with no success. It is an msn.com email. I would love to keep my old email. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Keith

You're still paying MSN? Well, I won't comment on that, but I would try this and see if it solves your problem:
Try this:
Go to Mail Preferences and choose Accounts; in the Account Information tab, enter the Description of your mail account (whatever you want); then below that enter the email address of that account ([email protected]); finally, under that enter your name, or the name which you want to show up when you send email from this account.
Below that, under Incoming Mail Server, enter pop.mail.hotmail.com or whatever it is; below that enter your user name (your Hotmail or MSN mail address, without the @hotmail.com or msn.com portion); finally, enter the password you use when you login to that account on the web. If you have access to your previous settings on your other computer, that would help to be able to reference.
Next, on Outgoing Mail Server, enter whatever your ISP says it should be, which is usually of the form smtp.mail.domain.com, or just mail.domain.com (you may have to create it if it's not already there). Then click on Server Settings and be sure that your Outgoing Mail Server is correct, and that you're sending from Port 25 and using Password authentication. Click on the Advanced tab and be sure that you've selected Enable this account, Include when automatically checking for new mail, and Remove copy from server after retrieving message. Finally, make sure that Port 110 is selected on that tab, and that you're not using SSL.
Close the Mail Preferences and Save your changes when it asks. Quit Mail and relaunch and see if it works.

How do I attach an old email to new email?

    Hi Jake
This is one of those "you can't get there from here" answers.
It is all about where you start from.
To do what you asked, open the old email and tap the "Forward" button. You then write your new email text above it before you send.

  • Syncing contacts from old email to new email on BB Tour

I would like to have the contacts I entered on my phone that synced to an old email address sync to the new email address I now use on my BB.  All the contacts I have entered since setting up the new email address have synced under that account but the old ones still say "Synchronize using: [email protected]".
Is there a quick fix for this or will they forever be synced to my out-of-date account?
    Thanks for the help!

An easy way to do transfer your contacts is to download the free app My Contacts Backup.  Run this app on your old phone to backup your contacts as an attachment to an email.  Send this email to yourself and open it on your new phone, tap the attachment and import your contacts.

  • How do I transfer old emails to new macbook

I'm trying to transfer my emails from my old macbook (os x 10.5.8, mail 3.6) to my new macbook (os x 10.8.2, mail 6.2 ).  I copied my mailboxes from the library on my old computer to the library on the new one.  The emails are there when I look them up using the Finder,  but they don't show up when I open mail. What am I missing?

If your iPod is set to update automatically you just need take care when connecting back to your new computer and an empty iTunes. When you get the a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press *No* (or "Cancel" if you are using iTunes 7). Pressing "Yes" (or Erase and Sync in iTunes 7) will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. In iTunes 7 Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Don't uncheck Sync Music it will be unchecked by default when you choose the manual setting: Managing content manually on iPod
Changing to manual update will also enable your iPod for disk use and you need this option on to use Yamipod. Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Set up old iPad under new Apple ID?

I bought my mother an iPad last year (she is not at all computer literate and doesn't own a PC or mac).  I set up the iPad using my own Apple ID because she doesn't have one, doesn't use a mac or the iTunes/App Store, and it was easier to load some family photos and apps for her that way.  BUT with iMessaging etc, she now receives messages that I am simultaneously receiving on my iPhone and Macbook.  That's not good.  Usually they are texts between my iPhone and my son's iPhone, but not always.  I deselected iMessage on mom's iPad settings, but she still occasionally receives messages (iChats and texts) meant for me.
Is the best solution just to start back at the beginning and set up the iPad under her own Apple ID?  If I do remove my Apple ID, will I lose everything she has stored on the iPad (photos, email, etc)?  Thanks for any suggestions.

She can continue to use your AppleID for all purchased material, even iCloud if you wish to do that.
However, if you truly wish to separate iMessage and iCloud accounts on the two devices, just create a new AppleID for her (use a free email account, gmail, yahoo, AIM/AOL, MS-live, whatever).  You can use her AppleID for just her iCloud and iMessage accounts, and use your AppleID for the iTunes & App stores (so all current loaded purchased content will be untouched).
Anyone can have as many AppleIDs as they wish, and you may use a different one for every Apple service if you wish.
iCloud (email, online backup, etc), and iMessage have nothing to do at all with your purchased content through the iTunes or App store nor your accounts associated with those stores.

  • Moving MacWrite from old Powerbook to new iBook

I just had a new hard drive installed on my iBook G4, running OS X 10.4.11. I backed up my personal data, but figured I'd be able to reinstall all my applications since I had original software.
However, I was unable to reinstall MacWrite II for OS 9. I only have a 3-1/4 inch disk with the program, and the disk drive won't work in OS X.
I tried to network the iBook with my old Powerbook G3 running OS 9.2 but they wouldn't connect. I copied the MacWrite files onto my flash drive, and even though they looked perfectly fine when the drive was hooked up to the Powerbook, they didn't on the iBook.
The iBook's OS 9 doesn't seem to be recognizing MacWrite as an OS 9 program.
I can't figure out how I made this work when I originally bought the iBook two years ago. I really need MacWrite so I can get access to old text files. Microsoft Word doesn't have an appropriate translator.
    Help?!?

I copied the MacWrite files onto my flash drive, and even though they looked perfectly fine when the drive was hooked up to the Powerbook, they didn't on the iBook.
Could the Flash Drive still be in MS/Dos format? That'll lose half of most files. If so, just format it MacOS/HFS+.
A few other APPs had MacWrite import capabilities...
    Adobe PageMaker 6.5 here.
    Word Perfect 3
    Mac Publisher
    Quark 4
    Claris/Dataviz document converter.
    Likely many more too.
The iBook's OS 9 doesn't seem to be recognizing MacWrite as an OS 9 program.
Was this perchance copied over on that Flash Drive?

  • Setting up personal email on new blackberry pearl

    Hi all,
I have recently purchased a Blackberry  Pearl and am trying to set up my personal email however I am not being given the option to create or add a new email address....only getting the option for 'enterprise server account for a work email'.  Can anyone assist with this please.  I am not getting any response from my provider and need to set this up urgently.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

  • Having trouble setting up adam email on new iphone 4

have never used an email account before and have today bought a new iphone 4.  I use adam internet for my email - how do I go about setting this up.  Think I have done it correctly but get nowhere.  Message comes up 'Cannot Connect Using SSL'.  Any help appreciated.

    Here's some more info:
In the Servers tab, ensure that:
    1. The Incoming (POP3) server is set to fpostoffice.isp.att.net and the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server is set to fmailhost.isp.att.net.
Note: When updating the secure server settings, check SSL checkbox first to update the port setting.
    * Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) should be port 465 and the box next to server requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked.
    * Under incoming mail (POP3) should be port 995 and the box next to server requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked.
    2. The Incoming Mail Server User Name (Account name) and Password are entered.
    3. The Remember password checkbox and the My server requires authentication checkbox are checked.

  • Move all my apps, purchased stuff from old email to new email account

    Good day all!
So I've moved away from my "gmail" and moved to the wonderful word of MobileMe. Now I want to change my iTunes email account to my new .me account. I know how to do thins is the iTunes store setting, but! when I do I loose all my apps for my iPhone. So what do I have to do to move all my apps from gmail to .me?
    Thanks all!

All apps and other iTunes content on the iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on the computer used for syncing the iPod Touch.
Each iPod and/or iOS device sync with iTunes on the same computer has its own sync preferences with iTunes. You can transfer the same apps to the iPhone, or different apps. The same for music, tones, audio and print books, podcasts, movies, tv shows, and photos transferred from the computer. Whatever you select to be transferred to the iPhone under the various tabs for the iPhone sync preferences with iTunes has no bearing on what is available on the iPod Touch.
