Setting up outgoing mail server (with Gmail??)

Hi,
I'm as green as you can get with Final Cut Server and I just installed it on my Mac Pro. I was wondering if it is possible to use Gmail as my outgoing SMTP server for notifications to other users? If so, would someone mind pushing me in the right direction? I don't have the slightest idea of how to make this work.
If Gmail does not work, what are some other solutions people have used in order to send email notifications out to users? Thank you in advance.

I was wondering if anybody could help me configure my iPhone 5 to use the icloud mail server as the primary server for both my icloud account and my gmail account as well?
Is this possible to do or do I still need the gmail server as well?
I've read that the icloud server provides message encryption as well..?
Any help would be awesome. I just feel like with having 3 email accounts, it's sucking the power out of my phone and it also tends to get very
Hot at times under any kind of load (playing a racing game for over 20 mins, syncing device, etc)
Is this also not normal as well?
I just feel as if this phone should be much faster, especially handling processes, sync, even my wifi speeds suffer over a wifi connection between 20-30mbps DL and 12mbps upload. I've tried resets of network settings,,airplane on/off, renewing lease, closing programs etc.
Can someone please help, it's greatly appreciated.
    Thank you

  • How to set up a mail server with a private DNS and relay over a public mail

How to set up the mail server that we can send and pick up emails inside and outside?
Our private network has the DNS name dnsname1.private.
We have our privat DNS Server and he can forward requests to outside over our router.
Our public emails are hosted by an internet provider. This dns name is dnsname2.com and dnsname2.org.
How we have to set up our mail server that we can pick up our emails from our public dnsname2.com?
And when we write an email how we have to set up it that the dnsname is dansname2.com and not dnsname1.private?

If you want to move your mailservice to your own (internal) server, start by making sure you can recieve traffic on port TCP 25 (SMTP). Some ISPs blocks this port, especially on "non business" connections.
Can you send mail from your LAN directly to where your mail is hosted using port 25 TCP or do you have to relay via your ISP?
You have a static public IP?

  • Setting PRIMARY outgoing Mail Server

i have nine emails from my primary domain, one from a secondary domain, a gmail account and a me.com account.
i am having problems with email (cannot connect to domain name) and i am trying to verify that my outgoing server settings are correct. can someone help me here. it appears that i have to get into an /individual/ email account and at which point i have an option to select SMTP server?! this then pulls up the /first/ image which shows a primary server.
How do i change this primary account?! Do i "simply" enter all new information for each and every email account and change the primary outgoing server for each and every email address?!
How do i /set/ the primary server for an /individual/ account? Do i have to enter a new outgoing primary server for each and every email account/
Do i have to enter a USER NAME that is the same as my email account name each time i enter an outgoing server?
What is the purpose of the ON and OFF buttons for the "Other SMTP Server" accounts listed?
Do i keep the GMAIL outgoing server ON? or "on" only for the GMAIL account?
I am uber confused here and am hoping for some clarification...
    THANKS.

Well, first, you only need one copy of each server. cwmx.com is AT&T's SMTP server, and will only work when you are on cellular data; it will not work over WiFi. So start by deleting all cwmx.com servers except the first. cwmx.com should not have a user ID or password.
When you send mail the iPhone first tries to send using the primary SMTP server. If that fails or times out, it tries the secondary servers in the order listed. cwmx.com is a last resort server; most people don't need it at all; it is only needed if your ISP does not relay mail from outside of its network.
For each mail server that you interact with the Primary SMTP server should be the one for that server. The Primary server should never be cwmx.com. So for the universaljointdesign.com account the primary server should be mail.universaljointdesign.com, and you should enter your user ID and password. The secondary should be cwmx.com, and you should turn off all of the other SMTP servers for that account. Further, if mail.universaljointdesign.com does not require that you be within the site firewall when sending you don't even need cwmx.com enabled.
For the gmail account the SMTP server should be smtp.gmail.com, and that's the only one that needs to be on. You will need to enter your full gmail address as ID and your gmail password. If you have 2 factor authentication enabled for gmail you will have to generate a single use password.

  • How do I get my Gmail setting for outgoing mail server back on line?

I cannot get mail from my G-mail account any more.  Only "wrong password" error messages.  So I changed the pass word which made no difference.  The settings on both these accounts are correct and msn continues to work just fine.  However I note "off line" next to my G-mail in set up mail and I have not been abe to change that to "on line" in order to get all the g-mail messages that are waiting to come through.

  • Can't switch the primary outgoing mail server for Gmail?

I recently got an iPad and went to set up my two Gmail accounts exactly how I have them set up on my iPhone: Gmail Account #1 is my original one, and Gmail Account #2 was linked to it later to utilize its outgoing server (so messages sent from #1 look like they're coming from #2).
On the iPhone, I switched off #1's primary outgoing server and selected #2's. Very simple, very easy.
But on the iPad, when I go to switch off #1's outgoing server, the only option I have available afterwards is to click 'Cancel' - it won't let me turn it off and select another one!
The problem seems exclusive to Gmail, as my Yahoo account doesn't have this issue.
I have a feeling it's an iOS7 glich... I have iOS7 on the iPad, but not on my iPhone. Everything else is set up exactly the same between the two devices. I've tried deleting both accounts and re-activiating, I've tried manually setting them up instead of using Apple's pre-selected system... nothings seems to work.
    Anyone?

The issue isn't getting the accounts online - both accounts are added and working. The issue is that Gmail forces me to use the primary outgoing server for their respective accounts - I can't switch it off and select another from that drop-down list like I can with my iPhone.
I am able to switch ON the outgoing server for #2, but the problem is that when I slide the primary server to "off" - the "DONE" button in the top right remains gray and unclickable. Strangely this is not the case for Yahoo - I can select an outgoing server on that account at will.

  • Setting for outgoing mail server

I have 2 sub accounts with verizon.net, I try to define the outgoing server, but when I go to send a msg the server is rejected. I have tried outgoing.verizon.net and outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net. Any suggestions please reply. Thanks in advance.
    <Edited by Host>

Not a good idea to post any email address -- I have asked your message to be altered by a Host to remove it.
Are you reporting you have a primary Verizon account that can send, but not with what you are calling "sub accounts"?

  • HT1277 how do I find my outgoing mail server info for gmail account set up?

how do I find my outgoing mail server info for gmail account setup?

Most current Mac systems have a preloaded set of information and settings for the common email providers.  Try just choosing gmail and enter your userid and password at the prompts and see if the preload configures correctly for you.

  • Can I set my iCloud email as the outgoing mail server for my google apps email account in Mac Mail?

I have a google apps email account from an old client, all my work emails have been going to it for years. As I'm no longer affiliated with this client I'd like to make a transition to using my iCloud account for work. I asked people to use my iCloud address but as they've been using my google apps address for years it's what automatically comes up when they type my name.
I figure the easiest way to make a transition is if I reply to all the emails that arrive at my old address from my iCloud address and gradually they will start using my new address without realising it. But I can't find a simple way to do this.
In Mac Mail preferences > accounts > Google IMAP (my old account name) > Account information > Outgoing Mail server (SMTP) I'd like to set my iCloud SMTP server. But although my iCloud account uses its own outgoing mail server for its own account , it is not in the server list when I select my google account. I've tried to add it to the server list as smtp.mail.me.com but it caused my whole iCloud account to give me error messages until I force quit Mail...
    Any ideas?

In iCloud/Mail, have you tried going to Preferences (select with gear at lower left)/Composing and setting a Send from address there?

  • What is my outgoing mail server for setting up a new account in Mail?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a new account in Mail so that I check my school e-mail from that application and I've figured out what my incoming mail server is, but what where would I find the outgoing mail server if I want to send through Mail?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Ask the company providing you internet juice to get online. If it is Comcast, it typically is smtp.comcast.net or mail.comcast.net. If it is Verizon, it is outgoing.verizon.net. If it is someone else it is some SMTP server that is assigned by the company that you pay your bills to get online with.

  • How do I fix my iPod touch's problem with hotmail outgoing mail server?

I have just received a new replacement iPod touch 8Gb.
On my old model I used the house wifi network to connect to HOTMAIL in the mail app it would set the account up immediately and work perfectly.
This time, when I tried to set the account up I had a long delay while it verified account details. Then after opting to set up account without using SSL an account was generated with an error message to say I may not be able to send or receive mail.
Incoming mail is OK, outgoing is not working.
The error message told me that I needed to configure my outgoing mail server.
My default outgoing server is set to smtp.live.com and works on port 587.
I have an additional server set to 'on', which is also smtp.live.com working on port 465, which was set up when I tried to alter the port number on the default server. Still no outgoing mail.
    Any suggestions?

Followed your instructions and again, account verification failed using SSL.
I chose to create without SSL and got the following message:
'The SMTP server 'smtp.live.com' is not responding'. I accepted the details,
the email Inbox populated, and everything looks normal.
    Same error is occuring:
'Connection to outgoing server 'smtp.live.com' failed. Additional outgoing mail servers can be configured in settings>mail, contacts and calendars'
    The settings are as follows:
    Incoming mail server
    Host Name: pop3.live.com
    username: is correct
    password: is correct
    Outgoing SMTP:
    Primary server
    host name: smtp.live.com
    username: is correct
password: is correct (has been re-entered just in case)
    Use SSL: OFF
    Authentication: password
    server port 587
I have duplicate SMTP servers listed under 'Other SMTP servers' with exactly the same details as above so it seems as if the iPod is retaining some settings even after I delete account.
Also, I wonder if there is anything I need to get the network administrator to do, because he did ask for the Wi-Fi address of my previous iPod touch could it just be a case of allowing it as a specific device on our network?

  • Trouble with outgoing mail server

When I try to send gmail I get an error message 'your acc does not have a preferred outgoing mail server'? I've had this before but can't remember what to do.Thanks.

Who is your ISP? Normally they provide you the information you need when you sign up with one, i.e. user name and password, email address, smtp server address, pop and imap server addresses, authentification requirements, etc.
If you haven't got that information to hand it's normally available with a quick Google search.
I'm with Orange and just searched 'Orange smtp server settings' - this is what I got:

  • Problem Mail program & Outgoing Mail Server - Problem with Earthlink

I had Earthlink POP / SMTP ( In/Out ) Mail server and mac Mail set up when I pulled the power plug on PMG4 due to freeze up !
Now have no contents in mac Mail program In/Out/Sent/Draft on the PMG4 hardrive or the external Lacie brick back-up hardrive. I am told by Earthlink this is because I had the " don't save email copy on server " box checked in the Mail/Add account/Advanced section.
Any idea how I can retieve my email folders ?
Also cannot get rid of 6 account names listed erroneously under Mail/Preferences/Account/Accounts Information/outgoing mail server ! And yet there is only one account listed when the accounts button is pushed. This is making it impossible to connect to the earthlink server ! Earthlink says everythings fine on their end and I have the correct Server Port number entered ! Earthlink says it's a problem with macMail !
    Help !

This is no longer an issue

  • Mail trouble with outgoing mail server

For weeks now (relatively recent), MAC mail will not send consistantly. When I choose my outgoing mail server in the preferences panel and check "use only this server", Mail often will not send my message. If I leave that outgoing server as "none", my first outgoing message of the day will prompt me to choose one, and then subsequent messages are sent without asking. Inconvenient at the least - something's not right.
    Any help?

    Thanks for response.
I have deleted ALL accounts (to start fresh) but the unused outgoing servers 'refuse' to leave
I want to delete them to keep things tidy, also I have issues with using alternate outgoing server (next issue), so trying to start from the beginning again, before attempting to address next issue.

  • HT201320 What am i supposed to put as the incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server when setting up my email?

I'm tryingt to set up my email through my school account and i'm not sure what it means when i'm asked to enter a incoming mail server and an outgoing mail server. Help would be appreciated thanks

Since no one here has any idea about what type of mail your school offers...you don't mention what school...your question, as asked, can't be answered. What don't you contact your school's IT dept., or look online. Most schools have instructions on how to do so online.
