Setting up personal email on new blackberry pearl

Hi all,
I have recently purchased a Blackberry  Pearl and am trying to set up my personal email however I am not being given the option to create or add a new email address....only getting the option for 'enterprise server account for a work email'.  Can anyone assist with this please.  I am not getting any response from my provider and need to set this up urgently.
Regards
JWW

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
To use the proprietary RIM Push email capability, you must have an adequate data plan from your carrier. The carriers host BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) for their BB users. Typically, BIS is not available via generic data plans. Many carriers call what is necessary The Blackberry Data Plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier who delivers BIS to their BB users -- contact them for assistance. Once you have a BIS-capable data plan on your BB (at whatever fees your carrier will charge, btw), you will then have Personal Email added to the email setup wizard.

  • Problems setting up hotmail email account on Blackberry Pearl

I have had difficulty setting up my hotmail account on my pearl. whenever i enter my username and password (which i have checked millions of times to ensure that it is correct) and hit log in i get the message "please check your information and try again". no matter how many times i try it i get the same message! has anyone had the same problem or know of a solution?

Hotmail has a policy of allowing old (which is active for long time or the ID that is never been deactivated) mail IDs to integrate with BlackBerry. Likewise, I can integrate my primary mail ID which is active for the last 17 years! My another ID which is also activated at the same time but blocked several time due to less use can't be integrate.

  • Trouble setting up personal email on my new Bold 9700

    Hi
I have just bought my first ever BB - Bold 9700 for personal use. I cannot set up my email account - as it keeps coming up with "Your device had a problem connecting to the server"
    Please can someone help!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Since you didn't tell us exactly what you are doing, we cannot tell where in the process that message comes up. For instance, I cannot tell if you selected Enterprise or Personal email when you made the attempt...indeed, I cannot tell if your BB even presented you the option for Personal email.
    Please advise with more details.
    Thanks!

  • Cannot Get Personal Email on my Blackberry 8530 from Cricket Wireless

About a week ago I purchased a brand new Blackberry Curve 8530 from Cricket.  The phone seems to be working well except for the fact that I can't set up a personal email account.  When I go to the Setup Wizard under email,  it only gives me the option to setup a work email with a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
The instructions that came with the phone specify that there is supposed to be another option  for personal email setup.  I have contacted cricket technical support and they have no idea what is going on. The Corporate location I bought the phone at has no idea what to do either.    I saw that this has been an issue with the Curve 8530 with other providers. It seems that their data plan wasn't set properly for a Blackberry.  Cricket however, has a set plan for the Blackberry which you have to have for the phone to work.  My phone is also registered with Blackberry.
Please help me.  This is very frustrating.

Are you cetain you have the BlackBerry Data Plan enabled provisioned to your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
If you say you have that already, you need to call them and tell them it is not working.

  • Can't set up personal email account

My setup wizard doesn't not have a personal email set up option. I do not have the seperate email icon. I've spoken to Rogers support and they say my IMEI number is locked with another carrier. I don't know who the carrier is because this is a used unlocked BB.  Also tried to resend service books a couple of times but that didn't seem to work.  Anyone can help? Thanks

    Hiya!
Those sound like 2 separate issues really. if its unlocked... its not locked to a carrier
But the reason why you would not have a personal email option is because your device isnt registered on the BIS network. Do you know if you have a Blackberry data plan with Rogers?
If you are 100% sure you do. go here
    http://rogers.blackberry.com
    and login/register
try and setup your personal email there. if you cannot. you dont have the plan on your account

    http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_do_I_need_a_Data_Plan_for%3F
With hundreds of carriers in the world, each with dozens of different data plans, it's impossible to tell you specifically what any service plan might actually provide. Only the carriers can answer that question. The best thing to do is to decide what services you desire, and then talk to your carrier about obtaining (from them) a data plan that enables what you desire.
    Good luck!

  • Internet Access/Email On My Blackberry Pearl 8100.

My mobile ‘phone account is with U.K. Orange on a pay-monthly basis. I recently bought a U.K. Vodafone-locked Blackberry Pearl 8100 from eBay. I got it unlocked successfully and inserted my Orange SIM card in it.
Everything works EXCEPT that I have no internet or email access whereas I did before on my old Orange Treo 600. I don’t even have a browser icon on the “desktop”. I tried to send an email from “Messages” but all I got was “No message services configured”.
Is there any way I can access the internet/email easily with my new Blackberry?
My home computer is an Apple Intel 24” iMac and I have PocketMac for Blackberry.

    Found it!

  • Setting up personal email on BB6 OS

I've just installed Blackberry 6 on my 9300, and have attempted to re-setup my personal email on it. According to the various videos and advice, I should see an "Internet Mail Account" option (in addition to the Enterprise Account) when going into the email setup, but I don't - all I see is what appears to be the enterprise account setup. It asks for my email address and activation password, and if I put in my personal email address and password in there, it doesn't work. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hi there,
You may need to resend your BIS service books to see that option.  I would suggest contacting your carrier to ask them to resend the service books for you, or you can try accessing your carrier's BlackBerry BIS site via your computer to do this yourself (if you have an account set up).  You can find your carrier's site here (if you are located in the US/Canada): http://us.blackberry.com/support/blackberry101/setup.jsp#tab_tab_email

  • Is it possible to set up personal email accounts on iPhone5?

Can iPhone 5 handle two different personal email accounts (as well as gmail etc)?  I have two personal domain names, each with its own email address. My Air handles all this fine.  But my new iPhone5 is a problem.  One account is OK but the other rejects all settings by saying they are incorrect.  Two visits to a genius bar have failed to solve the problem.
Is there a hosting company that specialises in iOS and could provide advice?

I've spoken to them 4-5 times and emailed a print out of my Air settings. They say the settings are fine. The genius guys also agree the phone settings follow the Air settings. I suspect there is some little thing, or maybe some forwardings, that are screwing it up.

  • Setting up old email on new Ibook

Hi. New Apple user. I just got by Ibook G4 and I love it so far. I am trying to set my old email address on it with no success. It is an msn.com email. I would love to keep my old email. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    Keith

You're still paying MSN? Well, I won't comment on that, but I would try this and see if it solves your problem:
    Try this:
Go to Mail Preferences and choose Accounts; in the Account Information tab, enter the Description of your mail account (whatever you want); then below that enter the email address of that account ([email protected]); finally, under that enter your name, or the name which you want to show up when you send email from this account.
Below that, under Incoming Mail Server, enter pop.mail.hotmail.com or whatever it is; below that enter your user name (your Hotmail or MSN mail address, without the @hotmail.com or msn.com portion); finally, enter the password you use when you login to that account on the web. If you have access to your previous settings on your other computer, that would help to be able to reference.
Next, on Outgoing Mail Server, enter whatever your ISP says it should be, which is usually of the form smtp.mail.domain.com, or just mail.domain.com (you may have to create it if it's not already there). Then click on Server Settings and be sure that your Outgoing Mail Server is correct, and that you're sending from Port 25 and using Password authentication. Click on the Advanced tab and be sure that you've selected Enable this account, Include when automatically checking for new mail, and Remove copy from server after retrieving message. Finally, make sure that Port 110 is selected on that tab, and that you're not using SSL.
Close the Mail Preferences and Save your changes when it asks. Quit Mail and relaunch and see if it works.

  • How do I set a personal email account to be POP when it defaults to IMAP?

    Hello there
I need to set up my client's email account on his Storm (O2) to POP however the Blackberry Internet Service (and also the device) detect that IMAP is available and sets it to IMAP.
This is really urgent as it is causing issues and I have had no luck with O2 and am now desperate.
    Please help!

    Hello,
There is nothing you can do via the device nor even the carrier BIS interface. BIS will default to the "best" quality connection it finds on the server you direct it to. If that server is running both POP and IMAP, BIS will use IMAP. You cannot override it. The only way it can be different is if the email provider has separate servers for POP and IMAP. Then, by directing BIS to the proper server, BIS will configure for what that server is handing out.
    Hope that helps!

  • Having trouble setting up adam email on new iphone 4

have never used an email account before and have today bought a new iphone 4.  I use adam internet for my email - how do I go about setting this up.  Think I have done it correctly but get nowhere.  Message comes up 'Cannot Connect Using SSL'.  Any help appreciated.

    Here's some more info:
In the Servers tab, ensure that:
    1. The Incoming (POP3) server is set to fpostoffice.isp.att.net and the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server is set to fmailhost.isp.att.net.
Note: When updating the secure server settings, check SSL checkbox first to update the port setting.
    * Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) should be port 465 and the box next to server requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked.
    * Under incoming mail (POP3) should be port 995 and the box next to server requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked.
    2. The Incoming Mail Server User Name (Account name) and Password are entered.
    3. The Remember password checkbox and the My server requires authentication checkbox are checked.

  • How do I set up an email for my blackberry?

I would like to add a couple of applications for my blackberry and it says I need my phones email address.  How do I set this up?

I would recommend adding an existing email address to your BlackBerry via BIS. You can add a blackberry email address, but I don't recommend using those for a few reasons, one being that it is not spam filtered. The other is their isnt a web interface to check those emails, the only way they can be checked is via the BlackBerry. To add an email address to your BlackBerry via BIS you have to make sure you have a data plan on your BlackBerry. Then go to your carriers BIS site. Just do a google search, for example " AT&T BIS". This will allow you to add an existing email address to your BlackBerry, which in turn will allow you to have applications emailed to your phone.
