Setting up Photo album on a pre-buildt page?

I built a photo album using the DW Command> create photo album and now I have my folder with pages, thumbnails and images. I have a pictures page built for my site already and have read a dozen tutorials but can't figure out how to import my album folder info into my picture page. Is this possible? How do I make my photo album look like the rest of the pages in my site?
Thanks

Not to put too fine a point on it, the Dreamweaver Create Photo Album command is a pile of garbage. And no, I'm not likely to offend Adobe engineers by saying so. They agree that the code it creates is completely out of date and has no place in Dreamweaver. It was created in the days when websites and web design were much less sophisticated than today. It's not used by professionals, who are the main target market for Dreamweaver, so it was never improved. A much better solution is in the Adobe Output Module in Bridge CS4, which is installed by default with the latest version of Dreamweaver.
Unfortunately, if you want to use the Create Photo Album command in Dreamweaver, you're entirely on your own. It cannot be used to integrate with an existing site. You need to generate the photo album, and then style each page individually to fit in with the rest of the site. Decide to add a few new pictures, and you have to start all over again. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

  • Setting up photo albums

    Only just bought my iPhone and having looked on the support pages cannot work out how to set up photo albums. Anyone help a complete technophobe?

    No. Make a folder in your My Pictures folder. Call it Pics for iPhone or something like that. Make subfolders in that folder (e.g. Family, Friends, Vacation, etc., that will be the albums you want). Then, copy pics from Zoombrowser to those folders. In iTunes, with the iPhone connected and selected in the Devices list on the left, click the Photos tab then check the box to sync photos and use the pop-up menu to Choose Folder, and select the Pics for iPhone folder. Then click Apply. Down the line, as you add new pics to the folders on your PC in the Pics for iPhone subfolders, they will be transferred to the iPhone when you sync.

  • How to create hyperlink for photo album to one of my pages?

    i want to link my photo album to one of my page and im having trouble doing it.
    does anyone have idea how to do so? thanks.

    iWeb does'nt support hyperlinking the album image in the gird. You could put a text base hyperlink in the page above or next to the album photo (outside of the album grid) that links to the page in question.

  • Set up photo album in iPhone

    Hi,
    Could you please show me how to set up separate photo album in iphone?
    thanks!!

    If you manually manage photos on your computer by creating folders, etc., create a parent folder which will be selected to be transferred to your iPhone under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences.
    Place named folders that contain photos only within the parent folder. The parent folder will include named folder that contain photos only.
    Select the parent folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by a sync. The named folders within the parent folder will be transferred to your iPhone as separate photo albums.
    If you want to remove a photo from an album, remove the photo from the named folder within the parent folder on your computer followed by a sync. If you want to add more photos to your iPhone, you can place the photos in the existing named folders within the parent folder, or create an additional named folder within the parent folder that will contain the photos followed by a sync.

  • Photo Album name vs. Web Page name?

    It seems life the page name and the photo album name are dependent upon each other. Is there a way these could be different?
    My web host doesn't like spaces in the page names, etc.

    Hi TandA4,
    iWeb adds an underscore where there are spaces in the page name. If your album name is Summer Vacation, the page name will be Summer_Vacation.

  • IWeb 09 photo album loses hyperlinks to external pages

    I have an album of images on my site and have hyperlinked the image caption text to open videos on external pages. This always worked fine in iWeb 08, in fact the images themselves on the main album page automatically became hyperlinked, which was cool. Upgraded to 09 and published (fortunately on a temporary site and not my live site), and now whether you click on the image or the text nothing happens. If you click on an enlarged image it just forwards to the next image.
    Am using Transmit to upload, uploading to my site hosted on machighway, not mobileme.
    Links work fine and open when I'm in iWeb. Tried dragging the index file to the browser and the links don't work, so obviously the problem is with iWeb 09. So my request to Apple--give us a "revert/undo" command that will take our imported docs and application back to the earlier version of software while you debug AFTER product launch. I really really hope this is fixed soon with a new version because my clients expect me to upgrade my site monthly and I'm dead in the water now until Apple fixes this.

    I'm right there with you, and echo bjaquez's post. I've been frustrated by the situation. Been working (2) trials/options; create an album and try to hyperlink, and create a page and try to hyperlink. First, let me give some history.
    I have about 140 photos of books to put on my site's Publications Page; plan is to hyperlink each book photo to the site where it can be purchased (external link). I reviewed the import options the Help menu provides for bringing all the photos into iWeb; one option open the Media Icon at the bottom tool bar. I found the photos in my iPhoto section, selected & imported. The issue here is it imports all photos, stacked on top of each other. When I attempt to spread them out and down the new page, iWeb will not let me scroll down the page any further, even when I've expanded the rows, columns, spacing, etc.
    Option 2 was to prep the photos in iPhoto, then export to iWeb as a new page. That worked great, all photos carried over, etc.
    Now, regardless of how I do it, when I open the Inspector, the Hyperlink "enable" is grayed out. It will not allow me to hyperlink the photos.
    I'm definitely not a Mac guru, but pretty stoked how much I've learned this past year. I think the inability to hyperlink on an Album page makes sense in some weird way (maybe it's not weird and I've got it right, anyone can let me know) because I noticed once you click on a photo, it blows up in size so you can do a slide show or see the next photo. So, I'm thinking this would override a Hyperlink ability, or if it did Hyperlink, it would override the ability to blow up the size of the photo.
    So, my next thought is to tackle this from creating a new page and dragging the photos over one by one and hyperlink.
    Any feedback is helpful. Is it twisted to be frustrated, but intrigued at the same time as I feel like a sleuth trying to solve the crime

  • Photo Album Placement on Home Page

    Dreamweaver MX 2004, Fireworks MX 2004
    I have created a photo album and it works just fine in the
    separate document created by DW. I cannot, however, place the photo
    album on my home page, where I want it to reside. I've tried
    inserting the photo album file as a Fireworks HTML Image Object
    thru the "Inser" command, and get an error message that tells me
    the file is not a Fireworks HTML file. I've tried to copy and paste
    the code into my home page, and none of the links were working. I
    changed the links and the thumbnail files now work, but when I try
    to open a larger version of the thumbnail, the file is not found.
    I've worked on this until I'm numb (or dumb!). Is there a simpler
    way to import the photo album file into the home page document and
    have the photo album work properly?

    I'm not familiar with that method of generating a photo
    album, but you do have to make sure that all of the directories
    that contain the thumbnails and full-size photos are located
    somewhere under your main project directory, and that all are
    uploaded to your server. If you just paste code on your home page,
    but the links are pointing somewhere else on your hard drive, it's
    not going to work when uploaded.

This makes no sense. I can go online to various "photo shop" place and regardless of the OS and computer I am working from I can order a photo album so why can I no longer do this through iPhoto on my MAC?
    How do I order my album now? If somebody could please explain as I am going home in 1 month and really wanted to surprise my aging parents with this book.

  • Photo album in accordion

    This request is a little over the top but I thought I would
    ask anyway. I'm using spry pre-release 1.6 in CS3 and trying to
    make a photo album work in the accordion framework. I can get one
    accordion panel content to work correctly. When I try to add
    another panel is when things quit working. I followed Don Booth's
    example to begin this project. In the head of my html I have this
    code;
    var dsLrcso = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrcso.xml",
    "gallery/photos/photo");
    var dsData = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrcso.xml","gallery");
    and in the content panel this code;
    <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
    <div id="thumbcontainer"spry:region="dsLrcso">
    <img src="images/{@thumbpath}" spry:repeat="dsLrcso"
    class="thumbs"
    onclick="dsLrcso.setCurrentRow('{ds_RowID}');" />
    </div>
    <div id="main" spry:detailregion="dsLrcso">
    <img
    src="images/{@path}"><br/>{@name}<br/>{@title}</div>
    </div>
    </div>
    And everything works great. My problem is when I try to
    reference another var in the heading and point it to another
    content panel. I added this to the head area;
    var dsLrcso = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrcso.xml",
    "gallery/photos/photo");
    var dsData = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrcso.xml","gallery");
    var dsLrfaygroup = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrfaygroup.xml", "gallery/photos/photo");
    var dsData = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrfaygroup.xml","gallery");
    And this to the other content panel;
    <div class="AccordionPanelContent">
    <div id="thumbcontainer"spry:region="dsLrfaygroup">
    <img src="images/{@thumbpath}" spry:repeat="dsLrfaygroup"
    class="thumbs"
    onclick="dsLrfaygroup.setCurrentRow('{ds_RowID}');" />
    </div>
    <div id="main" spry:detailregion="dsLrfaygroup">
    <img
    src="images/{@path}"><br/>{@name}<br/>{@title}</div>
    </div>
    When opening the page for preview in a browser, I can see the
    first set of photos but not the second. All the photos are stored
    in the same location and I created different xml files for each of
    the var's. Not having any experience with XML and data sets does
    not help my problem. Again, I know I'm asking for a lot, but does
    anyone see a basic problem with my code that they could point me
    to? I would prefer to create this in the accordion frame but if I
    can't solve this, I will fall back to a different page for each set
    of photo's. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Remember your dealing with a novice, so please keep any
    explanations/solutions simple. Thanks in advance,
    Tommy

    Hi Tommy,
    The problem I think you're seeing is due to the fact that you
    have the same id attribute on both your region divs. They *must* be
    different since HTML only allows elements to have unique ID values.
    Another debugging tip, if you are using FireFox to preview
    your page, after your page loads save the page to a temporary
    location, then view the file you just saved. It should contain the
    resulting markup *after* it was processed by Spry. This allows you
    to see what the final markup looks like that the browser interprets
    and what your image paths look like.
    By the way, I see that you are creating 2 different data sets
    and storing them in the same variable name "dsData":
    var dsLrcso = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrcso.xml",
    "gallery/photos/photo");
    var dsData = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrcso.xml","gallery");
    var dsLrfaygroup = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrfaygroup.xml",
    "gallery/photos/photo");
    var dsData = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("lrfaygroup.xml","gallery");
    I think you may want to re-name the 2nd "dsData" to something
    else like "dsDataLRFayGroup' so you can still access the original
    data set you created.

  • How to improve performance of photo albums and navigation?

    I just uploaded the latest version of my new website (www.raydunakin.com) last night. I've made a lot of changes in an effort to make it load faster and work more smoothly. There is some improvement but on my Mac, with dialup, there are still some issues.
    One big issue is photo albums. I don't understand why they load so slowly, when it's only loading thumbnail images. The thumbnails are too small to account for the excessive load time. Often there are several that don't load up all until sometime after I click the browser's Stop button.
    Which is another issue: Why does it keep loading stuff after I've clicked Stop?
    I've stripped my albums down to just 15 images per album, so the number of images shouldn't be a problem.
    BTW, I gave up on using the "My Albums" template, which was impossibly slow. Instead I just have a page with a list of links to each album.
    I'm wondering if having everything all in one site might be causing some of the speed problems. Would I be better off moving my photo album pages to a separate site and just link to them from the main site?
    One more question: Many of my hypertext links are not displaying correctly. They are supposed to all be underlined and in a different color from the plain text. Some of them do show up this way, but some look like plain text until you move the cursor over them. (And yes, I have used the Inspector to set the format for all the links.)
    Also, if anyone would like to browse my site and suggest other ways to improve or streamline it, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance for any help or comments you can provide.
    I'm running OS X 10.4.10, Safari 2.0.4, and iWeb 2.0.3

    To me it's not taking all that much time... It's quite normal if you're publishing to .Mac... The .Mac server is quite slow, that's a known issue... Partially it may also be due to the template used but I don't think so... There aren't a lot of graphics on that one...
    Often there are several that don't load up all until sometime after I click the browser's Stop button.
    Which is another issue: Why does it keep loading stuff after I've clicked Stop?
    I didn't came across any that didn't load and when I hit stop it stops.

    No that's not the issue. The site size doesn't matter as when you look at a page the browser only retrieves the information about that very page and doesn't even see all the other pages as it follows the links to retrieve the parts of that very page and that's it. What matters is the page size but it isn't heavy at all in your case...
    One more question: Many of my hypertext links are not displaying correctly. They are supposed to all be underlined and in a different color from the plain text. Some of them do show up this way, but some look like plain text until you move the cursor over them. (And yes, I have used the Inspector to set the format for all the links.)
    You may try a "Publish all" from the File menu for that... Or empty the cache of your browser...
    Also, if anyone would like to browse my site and suggest other ways to improve or streamline it, I would appreciate it.
    I like it it's very clean and easy to navigate.
    One other problem with the photo albums that I forgot to mention... When clicking on a thumbnail to view the larger image, while the image loads it looks like nothing is happening. There's no evidence that the image is loading or anything. So by the time the larger image appears, I've already attempted to move on. Is there anything that can be done about this?
    It takes a second to load but in the end it does load... To me it's the server's slowness even if not publishing to .mac...

    Cédric
