Are you sure that those are regular playlists (music note symbol) and not smart playlists (gear symbol)? Smart playlists populate themselves according to their rules, and you cannot drag songs into them.

I have transferred my music from old iPods to a new computer. I am trying to set up new playlists and it will not let me drag and drop. I have also tried clicking on song and does not give me option to Add to Playlist. Do you have any suggestions?

You sync it as you do everything else.
Open itunes, connect iphone, select what you want to sync, sync.
If you want to drag and drop you would have to select manually manage music.
Maybe you should read the manual.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have iTunes 11.0.1.12 installed. iTunes is not letting me drag and drop folders or files to the library. iTunes also will not add songs by using the Add folder to library option. I can only add songs individually.

Any help would be appreciated. Nothing obvous seems to work. Very frustrating.

I don't have a Recently Added playlist. However, I discovered that the file I had named Eating Healthy was given the name You Can Enjoy Eating Healthy when it copied to iTunes. I'm guessing iTunes pulled the full name of the piece from the internet. Upshot--the mp3 did transfer to iTunes on all 3 tries, but I was looking in my alphabetized list under E, not Y, so I didn't see it there. Thanks for your help.

iTunes will not let me backup and sync to new phone encrypted password?? I've never set a password for my old iPhone 3gs but tried my old Apple ID sign-in passwords to no avail. I've simply sat here so frustrated....my husband sync'd his new iPhone 4 no problem, somehow the checkbox shows Encrypted password and I'm at a loss on how to change this/find the password and transfer my old backup onto my new phone so I can use it. Can anyone help? Tnx

ITunes won't let me drag and drop anymore

Last friday, I closed my Macbook and it never started again. I bought a new one. The guy at the Mac Store said, "Just plug in your iPhone, enter your pw, and everything will work like it used to." Of course, I left the store thinking, "No way is that going to happen," but I didn't stay and fight. Of course, I plugged in my iPhone, immidately my Mac started saying, "You do not have sufficient permissions." To get rid of it, I read a post that said I should select to sync and then unsync everything from the phone (which deleted everything of course, but I'm not that upset about). Anyhow, the iPhone syncs now, but the lingering issue is that my old computer let me drag and drop MP3 files directly from my Finder window to the iPhone music library in iTunes. I DID NOT HAVE TO USE THE ITUNES LIBRARY AND I DID NOT HAVE TO CREATE PLAYLISTS. (I hate people who capitolize things, but I've read in several other posts where people say, "That was never possible to drag and drop, you always had to create playlists." No, you did not. I gurantee you because I've never done it). To state it just once more, I did NOT load the songs into iTunes, then go from iTunes to the iPhone, but instead, with iTunes open, and the iPhone plugged it, I would select the mp3 in the Finder window, then drag it to the part of iTunes which allows me access to the iPhone, and the iPhone section of iTunes (not the main iTunes library on my Macbook, but the iPhone itself) would become highlighted in blue, then I would release the trackpad and the song would load onto the iPhone (but never be associated with or loaded into the iTunes library for my Macbook).
Now when I drag the mp3 over, the iPhone section stays gray and won't let me do it.
How can I fix this? I detest iTunes. I'd be in love with Apple completely if it weren't for iTunes, which is constantly broken and never works. I'm happy with my music stored in my own filing mechanism, with my own method of tagging them, and I don't want to conform, I don't want to "get used to it."
Please someone tell me how to fix this! (Before it messes up my iPad as well).
PS... Of course, in the time my computer broke and I bought the new one, Apple released yet another updated version of iTunes, which they forced me to update before I could even use it. So, I don't know if the phone didn't sync over correctly or the update didn't work.

i recently had my mac repaired and the hard drive was set back to its original settings. I had my itunes music that i had purchased restored and i have begun to download new songs to add to my ipod. itunes will not allow me drag new songs onto my ipod...can some one tell me what I am doing wrong?

IMovie is not letting me drag and drop transitions, music, text boxes. Worked fine all along and now nothing. What happened?

iMovie has always let me "drag and drop" transitions, music, text boxes etc into my Project. This morning it is not allowing me to "drag and drop" anything. This is for a client and I am so frustrated. What happened to make it stop letting me "drag and drop"?

I have only dragged Titles to the project. When I did, it worked best not to drag and release onto the video strip (like with the old version) but just above the strip. When you drag and hover above the strip you get a little pointer to the starting point on the strip. Hope this helps.

I have converted files from YouTube to mp3 and then put them in my iTunes library... but iTunes won't let me put them into my phone. I have manually manage music selected and it has allowed me to do so in the past (maybe 2 weeks ago). I'm just really frustrated now because I don't like syncing my entire library because iTunes somehow manages to forget the majority of my music's artwork which is important since I paid for all but 3 of the songs in my library. Help?

ITunes won't let me drag and drop songs from library to my device. Recently replaced the harddrive and have authorized it with iTunes.

Recently had to replace my harddrive on my PC and files were not recoverable from the failed drive. Installed iTunes on the new drive and ripped some cd's into the library. However, I cannot transfer these songs to any of our "i" devices in the house. I authorized the new drive with iTunes and still no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first.

ITunes will not let me sync my iPad 2...

iTunes will not let me sync my 8 month old, previously synced iPad 2. It is no longer recognized over Wi-Fi and when i plug it in via USB I am given the 'Set Up Your iPad' screen. I have tried restoring from a backup, and that successfully restores my iPad but iTunes still will not recognize this. My only options remain 'setup as a new iPad' or 'Restore from the backup...'
Any ideas what I should do? I have tried both soft and hard reboots, closed/reopened itunes, rebooted my MacBook...nothing has worked. Should I suck it up and try resetting to the factory settings? Or does this sound more like an issue with the iPad?

ISSURE RESOLVED - there was an interupted/corrupt backup of this device that had to be deleted. After deleting this backup file, iPad was recognized without issue...only wish is hadnt tried 'restoring from backup' first since my settings were reverted to that previous date once issue was resolved.

Try this:
1. Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off
2. Set the date ahead by a few months
3. You should then be able to connect to the store
