Setting Up Remote FTP Connection.

Hi Everyone,  I've bee creating web pages for years and most of that time with the same hosting company.  Out of the blue I have lost the FTP setup info.  Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Morgan

Hi Again,  You know you are probably right and in their defense, they did take me to their Cpanel and showed me around the Files/FTP Connections area but it's when I get back to DW on my own that the probs cont.  I'm a real smart guy but will admit that this area of web design has always left me in the dark.  I just wish there were exact directions some place to this problem.  I'll try what you have suggested.  Thanks for all the help,  Morgan

  • Setting up remote network connection with wrt1900ac nubby question

Hi everyone, I am looking to set up remote network connection = been able to be on my network from public place. I have never done it before and i just purchased wrt1900ac and i was wondering if someone can point me to a step by step guidance how to do so. I also obtain static IP address from my internet provider. thank you in advance. I will be connecting with notebook with windows 7 on it

Typically to access LAN devices directly on a remote network you would VPN into the remote network. Either using Port Forwarding and a VPN Server or using a VPN feature built into the router.
This is assuming you don't plan to use something like Logmein or Gotomypc.
Please remember to Kudo those that help you.

  • Ftps connection in CF8 (not sftp)

Is it possible to use the <cfftp> tag in CF8 to create an ftps connection?
The only thing I've found on this is a blog entry by Forta talking about how to set up an ftp connection in CF Builder and he mentions that you can create an ftps (or sftp, which is not what I want), but I can't find any examples anywhere of how to do it (what attributes are used, etc.) with writing your own code (without CF Builder).

Interestingly, I just disabled spooling... and now mail
starts coming through???? I'd rather not leave spooling off
altogether... any ideas on why mail would not work if it's sent to
spool but does work if spooling is disabled??

Open up your site definition (double-click on the site name in the File panel or choose Site > Manage Sites > Edit) and go to the Remote Info category. There, click Use Firewall (if it isn't already selected) - press Test to try the default firewall settings. If that doesn't work, click Firewall Settings. You'll see two relevant settings about 2/3 down - Firewall host and Firewall port. If Firewall port is 21, there probably is something blocking the port.
On Windows XP, you may have the Windows Firewall installed and blocking. Here's how you get to it:
    To open Windows Firewall
    1.
Click Start and then click Control Panel.
    2.
In the control panel, click Windows Security Center.
    3.
    Click Windows Firewall.
Once you have that open, you'll need to set Dreamweaver as an exception to blocking:
On the Exceptions tab, click Add                     Program.
In the list of programs, click the name of the program (Dreamweaver) that you                     want to add, and then click OK. If the name of your program is                     not in the list of programs, click Browse to locate the Dreamweaver.exe in the Program Files folder and then click OK.
    Hope this helps - Joe

Close ... before going for a specific Cisco app ... lets find out some details:
    Host we need more details:
What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting).

Starting in Firefox 14, Firefox will guess an address and place it in the address bar (AutoFill feature). If you have ever connected to the site using a secure (HTTPS) connection, then Firefox will try to connect security to the address suggested by the AutoFill feature. To work around this you can:
    * Edit the address to force Firefox to interpret your entry literally. For example, if there is a trailing / you can remove it.
    * Turn off the URL bar AutoFill feature and just use the AutoSuggest drop-down.
    * Clear Firefox's memory of the site so it doesn't default to a secure connection (however, this also removes any bookmarks you have to pages on the site).
To disable the in-address-bar autofill without losing the suggestions that appear below the bar:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the filter box, type or paste '''autofill''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''browser.urlbar.autoFill''' to toggle it from true to false. You're done with about:config and you can close this tab.
"Forget about this site" will clear cache, history, bookmarks, and permissions for the site, and probably any saved certificate. There are two ways to get to this:
    * History > Show All History, right-click an entry for the site > "Forget about this site"
    * Type or paste about:permissions in the address bar and press Enter, then select the site from the list on the left side, and click the "Forget about this site" button on the right side
Depending on the size of your history and cache, this may lock Firefox up for a minute or two while everything is cleansed.

  • Unable to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver.

For the last one week I have been trying to connect to the remote ftp server using dreamweaver. I spoke to the technical support agency who manage our remote server but they are saying that there is no problem with the server adn they dont know anythign about dreamweaver so cant assist me.
I was suggested to check with adobe team directly and i spoke to a technical support person on the live chat but they said since the version is CS4 - education version, they cant assist me at all!! This is just ridiculous...I am constantly being sent from one place to the other without anything getting resolved!!
    Please help somebody!!

I am having a similar problem... maybe.  I was connected to my remote site all day yesterday, then out of the blue I tried to "put" an edited file... as I had been doing all day, and I received an FTP error:  Cannot make connection to host. Your login or password is incorrect.  That's odd, I've been connecting all day.  So I went into my sites > manage sites and clicked the Test button on my remote server information and it returned Adboe Dreamweaver CS connected to your webserver successfully.  I went back to my file and tried once more to "put" it on the remote server... again FTP Error: cannot make connect to host...  So I reboot my computer and start Dreamweaver CS3 again.  I reenter my remoter server information and click the Test button.  "... connect to your webserver successfully".  I try to put any file, FTP error again.  So I call my server administrator, he checks the servers logs and says there are no errors and you've connected successfully several times today.  I went through the trouble shooting steps listed here, though my FTP Logs are empty.  I cannot stay connected or even see the remote folders to try to drag and drop.  I tried to run ftp from a windows command prompt and it seems to connect me.
I downloaded an installed an SFTP client and was able to successfully connect to my remote server and upload the files.  It's definately a Dreamweaver problem.  Any suggestions?

  • How do I set up imac to print from a remote printer connected by a cable to a PC?, How do I set up imac to print from a remote printer connected by a cable to a PC?

How do I set up my Imac to print from a remote printer connected by a cable to a PC running Windpws XP?

    Hi Duane,
Thanks for clarifying the hardware setup. Using the S-video connection from Hi8 to the DV converter is a good workflow. If you are showing a few errant lines at the bottom, that is a by-product of analog tape and please keep in mind that they are likely in the "overscan" area which normally does not show up to the TV viewer, though you see it in the edit software because you see the full overscan image edge-to-edge. So you probably don't have to worry about that, but if it bugs you, you can use the CROP effect to remove, or create a black title overlay to "hide" that stuff. As you said earlier, you can scale the whole picture up, but that is going to soften the image, not good.
As for shrinking the picture - this is only helpful when producing HD content (i.e Blu-ray) and mixing in some SD source material. I see this used on HD documentaries a lot. When they need to show some older SD footage, it is shown "actual size" over some sort of background. By showing the SD clip at actual size, it is not scaled at all and keeps it's quality on the HD display. If making a DVD, which is standard definition, then there is nothing to gain from this practice and it would in fact make things worse because you are reducing the resolution!
For a 75-minute project, I would use CBR 7.0 encoding to MPEG-2 for DVD.

  • Why, when I successfully connect to Server 2012 Essentials R2 via Anywhere Access does the Remote Desktop Connection use the self signed certificate for RDP instead of the SSL certificate I installed when I set up access anywhere?

    Scenario:
    Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials
I purchased an SSL Cert from GoDaddy and I managed (after some challenges) to set up Anywhere access to use that new SSL Cert. I to rebooted the server and I am able to login to Anywhere Access vis https (using the SSL certificate) from PC, Mac and iOS.
    So far so good.
The problem I am having is that when I click to launch a remote desktop connection to the server RDP connection wants to use the self signed SSL certificate of the server rather than the SSL Certificate I installed into Anywhere Access. As a result, I get
a security warning like this: "The identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. Do you want to connect anyway?"
The name in the certificate appears as ACME-SERVER.ACMEDOMAIN.local  instead of the SSL Certificate I installed, which is
    remote.acmedomain.com
If I lick to accept, RDP does work fine, it;s just using a self signed certificate. I want it to use the trusted certificate that I purchased and installed.
My guess is that there must be an additional step to tell Anywhere Access that when it generates the RDP session that it should use the cert? OR, is this just how it works?

    Because....
the server does not have a 'trusted' certificate assigned to it.
Only the RDP Gateway has the trusted certificate for the external name.
If you want to remove that error, you have to do one of the following:
Make sure your domain uses a public top level domaim, and get a public trusted certificate for your server.
    So, something like,
    server.domain.publicdomain.com
    Or,
Install that certificate on your remote computer so it is trusted.

  • Adding a site to a ftp connection

    Hi,
Just upgraded to DW CS4 and in doing so I pressed a wrong
    button...!
I have numerous sites in my site manager window and one I am
working on has reverted to being nothing more than an ftp
connection. This was my fault as I went back into the set-up window
for the site (edit site) and made it an ftp connection only, rather
than a full site with connections to local folders as well as
    remote connections.
Problem is, now on the site manager list the icon has changed
from the folder with the name of the site to the ftp//sitename here
icon and I have no idea how to get it back so I have access to my
    local folder.
    Any help?
    Thanks,

There really isn't any way to go back from that choice.
so- Make a New site definition and pick "site" and not "RDS"
    connection.

  • Remote ftp access

I cannot get remote ftp access to my NMH405. I have remote access through https://ciscomediahub.com/ and can browse through my files this way, but I need to have remote access through ftp as well. I have set ut ftp access and it is working locally on my home network.
    What is my ftp address?
Can someone please help me with this problem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

If it works in your home network that means that you've set it up correctly. What you need to do know is provide the FTP service to the outside world. This generally means that you want to open up your router on port 20 and 21 and point those to the mediahub's internal IP address. If that is done, you can connect to it from the outside world via ftp://<external_ip_address_whatever_that_may_be>

  • Erratic ftp connection

no matter what computer i'm on, what IP address or web server
i'm connecting from/to, i get this problem. it's been going on for
a couple years and i have been just living with it, but now i'm fed
up. i also run into this problem on multiple installs - different
    discs with different registration info.
i set up my local and remote FTP sites. click "test" and get
a message like "dreamweaver successfully connected to your
website." but then when i close the site manager window and try to
connect to the FTP it keeps getting a "timeout" error. i will close
the error window and hit the connection icon again. and again. and
again. usually after 10-20 tries it will actually connect, but the
connection is spotty and will frequently drop me or "time out" when
i do something as simple as try to expand a folder.
i have tried multiple things, including toggling passive ftp
(usually results in not being able to make a test connection to the
server), and increasing the timeout limit. the only thing this
accomplishes is increasing the time i have to wait in order for it
to tell me it can't connect.
what i cant understand is why, when i hit "test connection"
does it connect within nanoseconds, but when i actually try to
load, expand or copy these folders, it times out.
no other ftp program has this issue. cuteFTP and FireFTP work
(with the same settings) without hassle. i'm about ready to fire
    dreamweaver altogether.

Unlikely. This is a free user-to-user forum.

  • HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn and Remote Desktop Connection

So, my pc operates on Win7-64bit.  I use Remote Desktop Connection to log in to the company server, running on MS Server 2008.  I purchased the HP MFP M127fn today after confirming that it is compatible with both OS listed above.  I  successfully installed it directly to the server via usb cord - to make sure the correct drivers downloaded to the server.  I was able to test-print and print from an app while physically connected to the server.  I then disconnected the printer from the server and successfully connected it to my local pc.  I can test-print and print from an app on my desktop.  When connect to the server via RDC, it recognizes the MFP M127fn as my default printer, and sends a print job to my local pc.  I can see the job in the server print queue, I can see the print job in queue on my desktop....it spools, then says it prints, however no actual print job ever materializes.
If I select to print to the MFP M127fn fax from the server, it will open the fax window on my desktop, allow me to enter a phone number, and will dial out and send the fax.  So, that driver is functioning properly.
So, my question is this:  If the printer and fax claim to be successfully installed, why do I not get the print job that is sent via the server and appears in my local print queue?  I get no error, either on the server side or the local desktop.  They both truly think the job has printed.....but no paper ever comes out.
Our company has used several other HP printers over the years with this same set-up and have never had a problem until now.  The last one was also an HP MFP - the CM1312.  So, I am now completely stumped by this.  I called HP support and was routed through 4 different areas before I was told that no one had a clue what the problem might be.  I then called the Easy-Tech desk at Staples, where I bought the printer, and was told that it was most-likely a hardware issue and I should return the printer to swap it out for another one.  If nothing would print at all, I would agree it's hardware.  But, as I can print locally, I'm more-inclined to think it's driver-related......any suggestions?

    Hi,
The M127fn uses the PCLmS printing language which is a lightweight printing language, a such is not supported for RDP printing.
As a reference you may find the following socument about Citrix, Terminal Services and RDP Printing, as you may find listed the M127 is not supported for a such:
    http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=4aa0-8465enw&404m=secure-erc
That is clearly not an harware issue, however I suggest returning the printer and replacing it with a different model which better feet such a task.
The M225dn as an example uses a PCL 6 print driver and should provide a better feet for RDP printing using HP UPD.

  • Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA

    Hi
Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA.
I have a server 2012 remote access gateway, with remote apps published(which uses single signon), behind a 2FA connection (web based) and want to know if its possible to allow macs to connect to the remote Apps behind it. i cannot permanently remove any
of the above setup as it is a requirement.
When i connect from a mac i can login to both the 2FA and remote access web pages and see all the apps but when i click on any app it downloads it to the mac and when i try to run it using Remote Desktop App for MAC i get an error :
"httpendpointexception: 4, The non-proxy http connection failed to connect with the message: 500 internal Server Error."
I have tried with 2fa turned off for testing and get the same result.Does it support 2012 TSGW server? does it support Remote desktop apps? as i cant find a definitive answer on either.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From Error description it seems to be a communication issue between your Mac and your RD gateway server. If you connect from extranet, you may need Remote Desktop Gateway or a VPN/Direct Access connection to your intranet, or forward port 3389 on your router.
500 Internal Server Error seems to be a HTTP related error.
The HTTP status code in IIS 7.0, IIS 7.5, and IIS 8.0
Also, please double check the settings if you have a RD gateway implemented in you intranet.
    http://redmondmag.com/articles/2013/12/24/rd-gateway-in-windows-server.aspx
In Windows Server 2012 R2 RD Gateway pluggable authentication is also introduced. This allows custom authentication routines to be used with RD Gateway. For example building a two-factor solution on top of RD Gateway is now possible which allows doing token-authentication
to the RD Gateway which works seamlessly with RD Web Access or RDP file launching.
Please check below article for more information.
Windows Server 2012 R2 is coming what does this add to RDS – VDI
In addition, please provide the log file from the client for further research.

  • How do I get SQL Agent to perform an FTP connection through a SSIS package?

I have created a number of SSIS packages that I am running through SQL Agent in various jobs.  I have set up a Credential / Proxy for the job steps and for the most part everything runs no problem.  The issue I have is with the step where I make
a connection to a FTP server and download files.  In BIDS the step works fine but in SQL Agent the step times out.  I presume that it has to do with the account that it is being run under but that is what I thought the Credential / Proxy was supposed
to handle (as it does for all the other steps).  I am running on SQL Server 2008 R2.  I have created a test job that has only one step which is to connect to the FTP server and download some text files.  I have tried utilizing package configuration
files and have tried various ProtectionLevels to no avail.
Anyone have any thoughts or direction for me to take?  Will continue to research and will post if I resolve this.
    Thanks, Andrew

On the dev environment the ProtectionLevel is set to EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey and that is what I tried first on the prod server.  Subsequently I also tried utilizing a package config file (with ProtectionLevel then of DontSaveSensitive) and have
also tried working with the ServerStorage.
For deployment I copied the relevant dtsx files to a solution on the prod server.  I verified that the packages all had tested connections in the Connection Manager.  I have run all the packages in the BIDS on the prod server and they all worked.
I have created a test package from scratch on the prod server to test the ftp connection.  This test package runs from BIDS fine.  I have set the SQL Agent file to access through the file system (no luck) and have saved the package to the SSIS Packages
and had the job step access from there (no luck either).
