Setting up router for ftp filezilla server

I want to share some files with family using filezilla ftp. I have set up my one computer running xp pro as a server using filezilla.
What I am having problems with is getting a complete port forwarding circle back to the client software. I have port 21 forwarded
to the computer that is acting as a server. However under passive mode i cannot complete this return. How do I set up my actiontec router to do this?
I am using the routers external address and the client is coming into my computer but the port (I think) needs to change on the return route. Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Is this correct?

This feature enables applications (Games, Webcams, IM & Others) by opening a tunnel between remote (Internet) computers and a specific device port inside your local area network(LAN).

  • Please Help Me Configure Router for FTP

    I have Verizon FIOS with the Actiontec MI424-WR router.  I have been studying network configuration for hours, trying to figure out how to set up a simple FTP client with FileZilla, which is supposed to be easy.  I have read the entire FileZilla FAQ and wiki, but I still can't connect to any FTP servers.  I cannot even complete FileZilla's network configuration wizard.  I use Comodo personal firewall too, but I'm pretty sure my problems are being caused by my router settings.  Can anyone walk me through how the router should be set up to allow FTP?  For starters, I need to set it to "allow outgoing connections to arbitrary remote ports," and I don't know how to do that.  :-(

    Tech support won't help you out with this..."outside the scope of support".
    Now, if you are attempting to connect to it from the computer running the FTP server or another computer in your LAN, you would use it's IP address. You can find this by going to run -> type CMD press OK, -> now type IPCONFIG in the blinking command prompt.  The IP address is going to be that computers address. so if you wanted to connect to the FTP from the same computer you can use that address AS WELL AS the prefix 'localhost'.  If you wanted a family member to connect to you from outside, you would use the WAN IP which you could find out easily from like http://whatsmyipaddress.net/
    Either way should work.  Now just make sure you are port forwarding FTP, and should look like this, with the IP address being the FTP server's computer IP or just slect the 'Computer' from the list.  Then click apply!

  • How to set (class)paths for a Managed server?

    How does one configure the PATH and CLASSPATH and pass definitions (like "-Djava.library.path=c:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin")
    to a remotely-started managed server?
    The section in the WLS 6.1 AdminGuide.pdf that talks about configuring a managed
    server's Remote Start tab says on pages 3-9 to 3-10 that, "If you don't specify
    values for these fields and attempt to start the target server from the Administration
    Console, the Node Manager will attempt to start the target server with the values
    for these attributes that were used when starting the Node Manager. The Node Manager
    will be able to start the Managed Server in that case if you specified the required
    values on the command line when starting the Node Manager."
    So it sounds as if I can get the java.library.path definition and CLASSPATH sent
    to the server via the Node Manager startup command.
    Does that work when using the Node Manager as an NT Service? Here is my Win2K
    command file for setting up the Node Manager as an NT Service. Note that I'm trying
    to tell it where to find the Windows native libraries (wlserver6.1\bin for wlntio.dll)
    and the JDBC drivers (C:\SHADOW\jdbc\... and C:\Orant\jdbc\... ) :
    ========== BEGIN installNMNtService.cmd ================ @echo off

    set CLASSPATH=.;C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\lib\weblogic.jar;C:\SHADOW\JDBC\scjd12.jar;C:\orant\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip
    rem *** Set Command Line for service to execute
    rem *** %JAVA_HOME%\java will automatically be prepended.
    set CMDLINE=" -ms16m -mx16m -classpath \"%CLASSPATH%\" \"-Dbea.home=C:\p\bea\"
    \"-Djava.security.policy==C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1/lib/weblogic.policy\" \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.weblogicHome=C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\"
    \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.reverseDNSenabled=true\" \"-Djava.library.path=c:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin\"
    \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.listenAddress=111.111.111.123\" \"-Dweblogic.nodemanager.trustedHosts=./config/nodemanager.hosts\"
    weblogic.nodemanager.NodeManager"
    rem *** Install the service
    "C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin\beasvc" -install -svcname:EDANodeManager -javahome:"C:\p\bea\jdk131"
    -execdir:"C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1" -extrapath:"C:\p\bea\wlserver6.1\bin" -cmdline:%CMDLINE%
    ENDLOCAL
    ================= END installNMNtService.cmd ==================
    But when I start a server remotely, it can't find the native libraries and it
    can't find the JDBC libraries in the CLASSPATH. Otherwise, it can serve up HTML
    pages at the correct port number so I know it's running.
    When starting a managed server remotely via the WLS 6.1 console, how do I tell
    the managed server where the native libraries and JDBC libraries are?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The memory setting on the WC_Spaces managed servers can be seen as mentioned below.
    ps -eaf | grep Spaces
    Above command shows something like this at the top of the output:

  • Setting portrange directive for FTP

    A few weeks ago I posted a question about FTP file listings timing out and got an excellent response from Camelot advising that I create a set of ports for passive FTP connection. This is done using the portrange directive in /etc/ftpd.conf. My Terminal skills are somewhat limited and I was unable to find the portrange directive. I am, however, good at following specific directions in the Terminal and would appreciate someone (Camelot?) detailing the commands to accomplish getting into and setting the portrange directive in /etc/ftpd.conf.
    Thanks!
    Xserve   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    > My Terminal skills are somewhat limited and I was unable to find the portrange directive
    That's not (necessarily) your terminal skills. By default there is no portrange directive in /etc/ftpd.conf - off hand I can't even remember if there is a ftpd.conf file at all. The issue is that if the file isn't there, or if a certain directive isn't in it, then ftpd uses the defaults - in this case any port number can be used.
    You only need to add/edit the portrange directive if you want to use something other than the default.
    So all you need to do is edit /etc/ftpd.conf using your favorite text editor to edit /etc/ftpd.conf and add a line:
    <pre class=command>portrange all 60000 60010</pre>
    to limit all connections to ports 60000 through 60010.
    If you need specifics on driving a command line text editor, post back.

  • Problem setting 7606 router for TACACS+ authentication

    Hello Support Community,
    I have two Cisco 7606 routers which I have tried in vain to have users authenticated using TACACS+ servers. As shown below, I have two servers (1.1.1.1 and 2.2.2.2) reachable via vrf OAM which is reachable from desktops for ssh login. The true IP addresses and vrf have been altered because it's a company router.
    I use the two servers to authenticate many other Cisco devices in the network they are working fine.
    I can reach the servers from the vrf and the source interface in use. I can also telnet port 49 if the servers from the source interface and the vrf.
    The server key is hidden but at the time of configuration, I can ascertain that it's correct.
    The problem is that after confuring for TACACS authentication, the router still uses the enable password instead of TACACS. While the debug output shows 'bad password', why is the router not authenticating using TACACS? Why is it using the enable password?
    Please study the outputs below and help point out what I may need to change.
    PS: I have tried out many other combinations, including deprecated ones without success including the method suggested in this page;

  • Set cisco router for dhcp

    hi ! i want to set up r1 and r2 (see below) to get ip address from r3. what do i need to configure on all routers. thanks.
    r1---r2--r3

    Hi,
    To configure a Cisco router as a DHCP server:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/iosswrel/ps1835/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00800ca75c.html
    To acquire an IP address via DHCP on an Ethernet interface of the router, use the following command in interface configuration mode:
    Router(config-if)# ip address dhcp
    The question is how are your routers connected (what type of interfaces), and what is the purpose of this topology.
    HTH,
    Mohammed Mahmoud.

  • Set maximum instances for FTP polling

    We are in the process of implementing our first BPEL integration involving the FTP Adapter on 10.1.2. However, it is not scaling well.
    The FTP Adapter is set up to poll an FTP folder containing XML output from our sales system. Each record is in its own file. We imagine that in the event of communication disruption, the files could accumulate to several thousand fairly quickly.
    The problem we are seeing when testing for this scenario is that the adapter picks up all the files at the same time and spawns a separate request for each until it overwhelms the server.
    How can we change our process to prevent this from happening?

    Oracle will tell you that a correctly tuned BPEL engine will cope...
    but for those of us in the real world the only option I can think of that may work in 10.1.2.x is to limit the number of available threads (dspMaxThreads), and because that's a domain wide setting you'd need to create a seperate domain just for the processes with adaptors you need to limit.
    I've read that in 10.1.3 you can specify process level thread limits.

    Hi Timo,
    My jdev version is 10.1.3.3.0, this is for R12. By PR i mean to say process request and PFR process form request in the controller.
    In the Process request of the controller, i am finding the checkbox bean and assigning the firepartialaction for it.
    Later in the process form request for the fired event, i am trying to handle the rendered property of the messagetextinput. Is this a right approach?
    my code below
    public void processRequest(OAPageContext oapagecontext, OAWebBean oawebbean)
    super.processRequest(oapagecontext, oawebbean);
    OAApplicationModule oaapplicationmodule = oapagecontext.getApplicationModule(oawebbean);

    FirePartialAction firepartialaction = new FirePartialAction("change");
    oamessagecheckboxbean.setAttributeValue(PRIMARY_CLIENT_ACTION_ATTR, firepartialaction);
    oamessagecheckboxbean.setFireActionForSubmit("change", null, null, true);

  • Help setting up router for wireless printer

    I recently purchased a wireless printer - but haven't been able to connect to the router. Router is a Linksys wireless G 2.4ghz w/ SecureEasySetup (SES).  When I activate the SES button on the router - it will connect with the printer - but the router then re sets itself, my SSID changes to the Linksys default and I loose internet connection.
    How can I use SES without the router resetting?

     I assume that your wireless printer does not have SES.
    When you use SES, the router resets the wireless settings.  SES is designed to be used when both devices (router and wireless adapter) both have the SES feature.  If only one device has the SES feature, then you cannot use the SES button, and the non-SES device must be setup manually.
    Login to your router at 192.168.1.1, and write down the following settings on a piece of paper:
    SSID
    encryption type   (probably WPA)
    encryption key  (sometimes called Password or Passphrase)
    Next, follow the installation procedure for your wireless printer.  At some point in the install procedure, it will ask you for the above info.
    If you need more help, please state the model and version of your router.  Also, please state the make and model of your printer.

  • Setting up router for port forwarding - WRT54G

    Hi all. I'm trying to set up my WRT54G wireless router so.i can port forward the relevant ports for my programs. I understand that you have to set up a static ip address before you can do a port forward which makes sense as you do not want to keep changing the ip address for the forwarding settings every time your network refreshes. But I cant seem to have it set up. And is there a rule that the static ip that you set should not be within the dhcp range?
    After setting up the static ip and setting up the port forward settings how do I test if the port is being forwarded correctly?
    Please assist! Thanks!

    IIt;s usually to set the static IP outside the DHCP range like you said. You can use the router's DHCP reservation feature to set a "static IP", and as for your last question, you can find different methods on how to do that by searching the web.
    I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • Any way to set "active mode" for FTP, or to use sFTP instead?

    I have a web host that does not support passive FTP mode.   I need to either set the mode to be "active mode", or I need to use secure FTP (sFTP).  Is there any support for either of these within Muse?

    Hi
    By default , Adobe Muse FTP option uses " Passive Mode" , I am afraid its not possible to switch to "Active Mode" or to switch to Secure FTP. Alternatively, you may export the site locally using " Export as HTML " and then you may use third party FTP client to upload the site to your third party hosting using Active or Secure FTP.
    Let me know if you have any further query.

In there response there was mention of configuring ports that the game uses  but thats all greek to me.  any  help would be appreciated or possibly a link to a step by step to doing this   thnx

  • Setting an Alias for a report server URL

    Can anyone guide me to on how to set a reporting server alias?
    I have links to a set of reports that are accessed via a Sharepoint server site.  I want those links to point to the server alias, and not the fully qualified URL of the report.
    Thanks

    Take a look at this thread...

    You can create a DNS CNAME, but if you have SSL that will throw a loop in things...  Otherwise see the last post in the thread linked above.
