Setting up scanner

Can you give me clear step step instructions on how to set up scanning documents Ina JPEG file. I often scan 5 -6 documents that I want In a single file.
Right now the scanner wants to save each page separately yet each picture/document is being scanned at the same time.

What is the full name and product number of your printer? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? Please take a look through this How to Scan guide, How to Scan: Windows 8. NOTE: Perform this action in the Software not from the Front Panel. When the scan completes, perform one of the following actions:Click the Plus sign () on the right side of the window to scan additional pages or add additional photo selections.If you are not satisfied with the scan, click the X () to delete the scanned file, and then click Back to try the scan again.Click Finish to save the scanned file.If you have trouble look for "Advanced" options. Here you can select whether you want to save the scans as one file or multiple. I have downloaded vuescan and that says no scanner connected when I open it and Image capture says no device connected.

Help with setting up Scanner with Airport Extreme

I am currently running an ethernet wire from the HP 7600 all in one printer/scanner to the Airport Extreme. I can't figure out how to setup the scanner to scan to a specific folder to the network or even scan at all to the network. I use to be able to do this with a netgear router so I just assumed it was possible on the Extreme.

Canon scanner not communicating with mac min using OS 10.5.8

I am using a mac mini with OS 10.5.8. I am trying to scan in papers with a Canon Canoscan N1240U. This is the message I am receiving.
     Cannot communicate with canner.
     Cable may be disconnected.
     Check status.
     Scanner driver will be closed.
I have used this scanner before with this mac mini. Any suggestions why this is happening and to correct the issue.

I think you should, if you can, try the scanner on a different computer to rule out a problem with the scanner or it's usb cable. Then, if you have the software install disk for the scanner run it. Or download and install a new driver or software. Use the finder to find and delete any files for the scanner and then reinstall them. set the scanner up in systempreferences as if it's a newly installed item.

Do you have any idea why sane-find-scanner works, and scanimeg -L fails?

How do I network one scanner between two computers...

How do I add a USB scanner to my network? It should be as easy as adding a printer since my printers also connect to the USB hub.
I have a Powermac G-4 and G-5 networked via ethernet. My scanner is connected to a USB hub and works from either computer. The problem is that the USB hub has to be plugged into the computer accessing the scanner.
Can anyone help me with this? There must be a way to add an external device connected to a USB hub.
(The scanners I have are the Epson Perfection 2580 & 3170)

Create PDF from scanner - output size?

Create pdf from scanner - Starting with Adobe Acrobat Pro connected to an Epson GTS50 scanner - my pdf size is aboutt 3x5 instead of 8.5 x 11.
How can I fix this?
I have re-installed the scanner driver.
Re-installed the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 program.
Made sure the "Config pre-sets" were 300 dpi.
Checked the Adobe PDF Properties in the Print Options.

If Letter is selected in "Configure Presets," in Acrobat 9 and you are still having problems
I would use the option to show the native scanner interface.
Select Custom Scan, click on Options next to your scanner model, select "Show Scanner's Native Interface" from the drop down menu
Press Scan, and your scanner controls should show up. From there you can see what your settings are before you scan.
If your document is 6 x 8 as an example, you could set your scanner to scale it to 8.5 x 11.

Airport Extreme and Canon 5600F scanner

If I plug the Canon 5600F directly into the Macbook Pro it scans perfectly, but the Airport doesn't recognize the scanner when it is plugged in via a USB 2.0 hub. I set the scanner to share over the network. The scanner doesn't have an Ethernet port.
What am I doing wrong?

Understand the hassle. But, you can't really put this one on Apple as they have no choice but to use the device drivers that other manufacturers supply to them.
At this point, as far as I am aware, there's not a single manufacturer that has written drivers to allow full functionality for all-in-one devices when connected to the USB port on the AirPorts.
Still, you might want to voice your opinion to Apple on this. There's no assurance that that they even read these boards and if enough users ask for a certain feature, perhaps they will incorporate it in the future.

Scanner only saves as images not documents

HP PHOTOSMART 6510 B211A-WIN XP WITH SERVICE PACK 3 No error codes or messages it either won't print preview and
stops responding an shuts off my Internet Explorer and anything else I have running and it just kills all I am working on at the time and when I try to print the same website page with print preview it does the same thing. Also when I scan a document it saves it in an image file and automatically puts it on a PDF. I go into the PDF and try to edit the document and it is 1 png or jpg image. My document is a real doc from ms Office Word and it was only text in black and white. I tried to find and set the Scanner preferences to the documents scanned to go to Word and Pictures/Images saved as jpg or png and saved in my pictures file. Every printer I have had or heard of you can save doc's and edit them in programs of chose and installed on computer. Especially buisnesses they always need to update doc's. Not mine It only saves whatever I call it in an image file and either saves it in PDF or I can Email it to someone. Please tell me there is a scanner document saver that saves in Word and can be edited????? Is it somewhere in my printer or software that I missed or is there a patch to download??? Please say yes. If not this is going back and the trouble I am having very often that I explained above will definetly not be worth a useless scanner. I love the design and so many options as far as the physical aspect of this printer that I love, and even the print is excellent (when it prints) but so far I have had problems with not printing and closing Internt sites I was using and the scanner thing and also when it first starts up it's loud and it makes a squeaking noise like the rollers or ? are having a hard time. Then there is that whole thing with logging in and signing up and just a mess. I hope you can please help me fix this stuff because I'd love to keep my printer. I've grown very fond of it.

Nothing's greyed out, I can select PNG, and in the save dialog it even says "my_filename.png", but then when I go to look at the images they're all gifs.

Intermec SG20T Scanner C# Development - Disable ConfigurationDialog()

Hello, Using the sample application in the SDK 1.6 for Intermec scanners, when users click on connect, there is a dialog box with the list of the connected devices. The scanner is among them, and upon selection, everything works fine. I would like to be able to retrieve this list and automatically connect to one of the devices without the user seeing this dialog and having to select the scanner. I would like to select the scanner in the code automatically. How can this be achieved in C#? From another post I tried to use DeviceIOControl function but I get a NOT SUPPORTED error code. I also tried to Initialise() but this does not work better. I modified the C# sample to only show the dialog the first time and it worked. I perform several Disconnect() and Connect() while the application is open, dialog is not displayed and it works. However, if I hide the dialog (comment ConfigurationDialog()) and try to force the connection the first time application is launched, then I get an error, even if the USB scanner (SG20T in HID POS mode) is still connected on the same USB port. And I can't look into the library dll codes to understand what this ConfigurationDialog() function does exactly. Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks,Tiago

USB Scanner Permissions without hotplug

After getting rid of hotplug, the permissions for my usb scanner aren't set to scanner:root anymore. Udev is supposed to take care of everything hotplug used to do, but it doesn't seem to do this automatically. Could anyone explain how I can make udev set the permissions correctly for my usb scanner?

Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot I had made my own sane-package, since a former version broke the support for my scanner (Epson CX3200), but that's fixed now. I updated Sane, and everything works. (Still, I have to replug the scanner after booting, for the permissions to get set, though)

5.0 Radio Scanner App

Hi,,,,,I am from Rochester Ny and have downloaded the 5.0 Police scanner App. Both reg and Pro.
Is it possibe to set the scanner to a specific channel? Of course I have no ide
of the new digital channel numer for the west side, so I am looking for that as well.
It currently scans both east and west side and they walk over each other so we miss

Scanning multiple pages - pop-up for "Next Page" appears

I'm running Acrobat Profession version 7 on OS X 10.5.
My scanner is an Epson Perfection 3170 with an automatic document
feeder.
The settings for scanning seem to have been goofed up -- any
assistance in resetting them would be appreciated.
Previously, I could drop a handful of pages into the feeder, choose
FILE => CREATE PDF => FROM SCANNER in Acrobat, set the scanner to ADF
(automatic document feeder), and it would create a single PDF from the
whole stack.
Now, the first page scans, the second page feeds through without
scanning, and then I get a pop-up called "Acrobat Scan". It says,
"Next Page" and "Front of Sheet 2" is selected (no other options) --
and I can choose DONE or NEXT.
If I choose NEXT, it scans the next page (and then skips another page).
When I choose DONE, it goes back to Acrobat and the PDF is created.
(Obviously, every other page in the document is missing.)
It never did this before, and it's kind of pointless having an
automated feeder if I have to stop after every page.
A few points:
- reinstalling the Epson software did not help
- I notice that I get a separate pop-up the first time the scanner dialog opens -- this pop-up allows me to choose a scanner (only one is currently installed). Don't remember getting this before the problem started.
- I have another program that uses the same scanner -- it continues to scan multiple pages without interruption. Ergo, I assume this is an Acrobat issue.
Any suggestions on fixing this issue would be appreciated.

I've tried turning the scanner off/on, both after the computer is booted and when it's shut off.
Between the need to select "Next Paqe" all the time, and the fact that the scanner skips every other page, I'm really annoyed!
Does anyone have any other suggestions on where I might find a solution? I considered contacting Adobe, but their per-incident support seems kind of expensive.

File Size of PDFs in Preview

I scan a lot of documents for record keeping purposes. I set the scanner to 300 dpi, black and white. This keeps the file size down and the document is readable and printable (close to the original), and the scanning is quick. I scanned three sets of documents (about 15 pages each) this way and saved them as PDFs. The file sizes were 3.1 MB, 3.2 MB, and 1.8 MB. I used Preview to combine the three documents into one PDF. The resulting file was 19.3 MB. Why so large? 3.1 + 3.2 + 1.8 = 8.1 What is going on here? How do I keep the file size down when using Preview? I don't want to buy PDF Studio (or some tool like it) if I can avoid it (they all seem so mediocre).

I scan at 600 bpi into TIFF, then use Graphics Converter to save with the CCITT 4 compression. I get about 12:1 compression, with no loss of quality. The result is still TIFF, so you don't have to uncompress to use them.
