Setting up scanning from an HP Officejet Pro 8610 to a MacBook Pro

Product Name: HP OfficeJet 8610Operating System: Mac OS X 10.7 Lion This may sound like a problem you dealt with this February, up to a point. I purchased the OfficeJet 8610 this weekend to replace another printer that went belly up. My main functions are printing and scanning -- the functions of my business. First, my connection and set-up overview: Stand alone OfficeJet 8610 connected through a Belkin router and an Amped Wireless repeater home network. Home system consists of a MacBook Pro, iPad and Android Tablets, iPhones and one Windows laptop. Set-up for printing from all devices happened without problems. My problems came when I wanted to scan. In trying to set up to scan, I came to the understanding that I needed to establish a path for the printer/scanner to communicate back to a folder setup to be a Network Folder on the computer. So I proceeded to go through that setup and got to this final page:  Network Folder SetupStep 4: Summary Top of Form Confirm your settings, and then click "Save and Test" or "Save Only" to complete the configuration. Display Name                 ScansNetwork Path                 \\192.168.2.3\My Documents\ScansDocument Type             PDFColor Preference          ColorPaper Size                       AutomaticQuality Settings            Text - 300 dpiContrast                           0Filename Prefix             Scan Bottom of Form  Below that was the button to “Save and Test.”  When I did that I got the following error message:
“Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again.”   The page in the setup procedure that asked for my user name and password looks like:  HP Officejet Pro 8610Embedded Web Server      Scan -Scan to Network Folder Network Folder Setup  Network Folder SetupStep 2: Log-in Authentication Top of Form Enter the log-in user name and password for your computer to allow the printer to save scanned documents and images in the network folder. User Name Password           i   Your user name and password are stored, encrypted, in the printer memory    I normally don’t use a password on my MacBook Pro. I just turn it on. I’ve tried resetting my password in “System Preferences” on my MacBook Pro. No matter what I enter on the above page I can’t seem to get the system to do anything but give me the error message above. Can you help me?

Welcome to the HP Community , I came across your post about the error message “Incorrect credentials. Check your username/password and try again", you are noticing on your Officejet 8610 when trying to set up scan to a network folder.
