Setting up Send on Behalf for distribution Group

Hi All,
I have a distribution group named [email protected] setup and working fine.
I want to allow member to Send on Behalf as this group, and have put the appropriate names in the Send on Behalf box, but for the life of me I cannot see how to actually send an email using the distribution group. There is no option in the from field to
select this as a from address.
I must be missing something, but what?
Using exchange 2013, please help :)
Kind Regards
Richard

If you see the FROM field in outlook, either just type the email address of the group, or click the FROM button and select the group from the GAL. The ladder is the preferred method.

  • Set Send to permissions on distribution groups through powershell

We have an Exchange 2013 environment on which we have created distribution groups with powershell.
However I can't figure out how we can configure the "send to" permissions for these distribution groups.
What we want is for Exchange to look at CustomAttribute3 in a user account, and if that attribute meets the set requirements the user will have permission to send mail to this distribution group.
Can anyone help me with this issue? Is there a powershell command I can use to configure this?
    kind regards,
    kevin

    Hi kevin,
You can use the following cmdlet to configure the distribution group to accept messages only from the specific users.
    Set-DistributionGroup -Identity "DGName" -AcceptMessagesOnlyFrom "xxx","xxx"
What's more, I am afraid that the -AcceptMessagesOnlyFrom parameter does not accept the custom attribute. Your understanding will be appreciated.

  • Unable to send email as a distribution group address

    Hi
We have a user who is a member of three distribution groups in exchange server 2010. He is able to send emails changing his “from” address to two of the distribution group addresses but not the other.
This is the error message received “You can't send a message on behalf of this user unless you have permission to do so. Please make sure you're sending on behalf
of the correct sender, or request the necessary permission.”
    Can anyone assist

    Hi Esky,
Please make sure it has necessary permission assigned
    Please try deleting addressbook

  • Plus sign not working anymore for distribution group

Without our Outlook client it was possible to make a New E-mail, enter a part of the distribution group, pressing control-k to force lookup the group and it was resolved. With the plus sign you can expand the requested ditribution group. Now this is not
working anymore. Does anyone know that there is maybe an option why this do not work anymore?
Within the image you can see that this worked. This is not working anymore.

    Hi,
What does "Now this is not working anymore" mean? Does it mean you didn't get the Expand List warning or it didn't expand the distribution group when clicking plus sign?
Does this issue happen to all users and all distribution groups?
If you mean you didn't the Expand List warning, we can try this to get it back:
Open your Registry Editor and browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\xx.0\Outlook\Options\General (where xx is the version of your Office.)
Look for and open the PONT_STRING value, you'll see a list of numbers in the Value box. Remove number
13 from the list and test again.
If you mean that clicking the plus sign didn't expand the group, we may try to open Outlook in safe mode and test again. To do this, press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
    outlook /safe and press Enter.
If I've misunderstood something, please feel free to let me know.

  • Send on behalf for EEPF

    Using the example below:
    Set-mailpublicfolder "\uws international\student.visa" -grantsendonbehalfto "12345678"
I find I need to first record those account numbers who already have permissions because ruinning the command does add the new account BUT deletes the currently presenr accounts.
So if I add the current and the new accounts the command line works.
BUT is there an addition tot he command line  that will NOT delete the current accounts and just add the new accounts.

    Hi,
The blog provided by imkottees is pretty helpful. To avoid overwriting existing permissions, you need to use the following syntax:
    @{Add="<value1>", "<value2>", "<value3>"}
Here is an example for your reference.
    Set-mailpublicfolder -Identity "\Belinda Test" -GrantSendOnBehalfTo @{add="[email protected]","[email protected]"}

  • Prohibit Sending Emails to Distribution Group at specific times

    Hi team,
I have a request from my company to prohibit certain users from sending emails to Specific Distribution group at certain times.(12AM-7AM)
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards

    Hi,
Based on my research, there is no feature in Exchange server to directly meet your requirement: reject specific users sending emails to specific distribution group at specific times.
We can use transport rule in Exchange 2007 and later version to achieve Reject specific users sending emails to specific distribution group. Create a rule in Exchange EMC:
    Apply rule to messages
from "[email protected]" or "[email protected]"
    and sent to "[email protected]"
send "cannot send messages to this group" to sender with "5.7.1"
About schedule the transport rules, there is no feature in Exchange supporting it. I find an article about scheduling a transport rule by using task schedule in Server manager. Just for your reference:

  • 206 unable to set alert only for certain group

    Hi,
is it a symbian unwanted feature that user is unable to set Nokia 206
profile to alert for certain group (even though this kind of functionality is
    available on this phone)?
To be more precise user is able to set profile to alert only for certain
group but this setting has no effect (phone rebooted, groups recreated, etc. no effect)
This feature has been available and workin in previous Nokia phones
since last decace - is it a software quality issue or what.
    Best regards,
    Hez

It is the Application Pool account making the query to retrieve the groups, so you would need to establish a trust from Domain B -> A.

  • Setting column count dynamically for a Group

    Hi Experts,
i want to set the column count dynamically for a group.
    Thnks,
    Ramani.

You probably mean you want to change the colCount value for a GridLayout (assigned to a Group), right?
To change this property from a view controller method, you can
    - create a boolean context attribute "changeColCount" and set it to true in the controller method
    - check this flag in method wdDoModifyView(), access the GridLayout instance and change the colCount value
    - reset the flag afterwards

  • Send Emails to Distribution Group

    Hi All,
I have a scenario where we need to create one distribution group and 4 users in that distribution group. There are almost 70 companies who will send email to this distribution group.
Now i want to achieve below goals,
    1) lets support i create an distribution group [email protected] and add 4 members in this distribution group.
    user1, user2, user3,user4
    2) If Company A send email to [email protected] only user1 & user2 will receive that email.
    3) If Compnay B send email to [email protected] only user3 & user4 will receive that email.
Is there any possibility to achieve this goal i am using Exchange 2010 with Microsoft Forefront Online Protection.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Zeeshan Butt

    Hi Zeeshan Butt,
Agree with the above suggestion, transport rule can achieve your requirement.
The sender address matches(the sender’s domain is)
The recipient address matches [email protected]
    Redirect the message to user3 & user4

  • Assistance with distribution group behavior

We have a new Exchange 2013 server.  So far, we are happy with it, except for this one issue with distribution groups.
On our old, non-Microsoft mail server, we had mailing lists.  When someone sent an email to the list, the members of the list would receive an email that was listed as "From:
[email protected] on behalf of [email protected]".  We like this behavior because it allows people to easily see who the messages posted on a mailing list came from, but when hitting reply,
the reply would go back to the mailing list, and ***NOT*** the user that sent the email being replied to.
In Exchange 2013, distribution groups function differently.  If a user sends an email to
[email protected], our users see a message that is listed as "From: [email protected]" and "To: [email protected]".  If a user hits reply to this
message, the reply by default goes to the original send and NOT the entire list.  We do NOT like this behavior and wish to change it.
Hitting Reply All when viewing emails from a distribution group is not a viable option...our users will not remember to do that and it will create confusion.
So, to recap, what we want to see when User A send an email to Distribution Group A, then all other users should receive an email that is "From:
[email protected] on behalf of [email protected]".  When our users hit reply to this message, the reply's To: field should, by default, be filled in with
    [email protected] and not
    [email protected]
    How can we accomplish this?

You might be able to achieve something using transport rules/agents (if someone sends to the list, re-write the reply address to the list). It would be ugly though... cringing just thinking about it...
We already attempted this with Transport Rules.  Specifically, we tried to rewrite the Reply-To header.  When attempting to create the rule, Exchange pitches an error message: "Can't set header reply-to with value [email protected]".  Are
we missing something somewhere, some setting that will allow this?

  • [E2010] [EWS] [C#] [Windows]: How do I assign public folder Permission to a distribution Group

    Hi,
I have a little C# Form Application which should be create a Public Folder and assign permission for a Distribution Group in Exchange 2010.
I have found following in the EWS Documentation:
     FolderPermission fp = new FolderPermission();
     fp.UserId.PrimarySmtpAddress = "[email protected]";
If i try this with a User Email it works as well. But if I try to set a Email address from a Distribution Group it will throw this Error:
    "Invailid UserID"
Does anybody know, how to set Folder Permissions to a Distribution Group?
    Thanks,
    Julian

You can't set permission on an Item in a Public folder the only level you can set the permissions at are on the folder. Your probably better of using a Distribution Group which you can create via the Exchange Management Shell
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-AU/library/aa998856(v=exchg.150).aspx l. You can then set rights on who can use this distribution group and it will also be visible in the GAL
    etc.
    cheers

  • Distribution Group customization

I want to create a rule on the distribution group, where by when the MD sends an email to that DL, users receive the email starting with Dear <MemberName of the DL) e.g. If Jack and Mary are members of a DL Finance, each receives and email start with:
Dear Jack and Mary receives the same email starting with Dear Mary. However, the email Jack receives Mary is BCC, same apples for Mary
    KimaniBob

    Hi KimaniBob,
Based on my knowledge, Exchange has no built-in function to rewrite the messages body when sending messages to a distribution group.
    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Cannot send on behalf of user

We are using exchange 2010 SP1 in our environment. I have one user no matter who you try to setup so she can send on behalf it always comes back and says you do not have permission to do it.
We set the person up with full access to the mailbox, with send as on mailbox that did not work. Next we set the person up with send on behalf using the mailbox properties still same error. i went on the AD account and went to permissions and added that
person to the AD account with send as and full control and still nothing is working. Any other users you allow send on behalf for any mailbox is working just fine.

    Hello,
Do you mean when you grant one user full access permission or send as permission on any other mailboxes, the user still has permission issue? If so, besides DareDevil57's suggestion, please use get-adpermission cmdlet to check permissions on the Active Directory
    object.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125183(v=exchg.141).aspx
And please make sure whether you check "Include inheritable permissions from this object's parent".
Please make sure whether there are multiple DCs in your environment.
