Setting up SLD

Hello All,
I am doing a below scenario.
Portal version : EP6 SP15
J2EE : SP15
I am trying to set up ESS based on WebDynpro in my Enterprise Portal SP15. For that I have to use the SLD for configuring the JCO connection. Now I can use the SLD of the portal OR SLD of ECC5.0
1). Since Portal version has Java only variant, I have heard that we need to have a Gateway Server installed on portal for this be SLD. Please correct me if I am WRONG!
2). Second option here is to use the SLD of the ECC 5.0 , I too myself wants to use the ECC SLD in this Scenario, Can you point me to some hints/docs/Howto/help how to set up the SLD of ECC5.0 for it to work With WebDynpro ESS deployed on Portal

SMSY_SETUP Expert Setting Multiple SLD Servers

Hi
In SMSY_SETUP there is the Expert Setting : Multiple SLD Server which you mark with an X if you want to read from many SLD servers. Can anyone help with how/where to configure which SLD servers to read from? Does it read from SLDAPICUST and if so, is it possible to schedule this read from multiple servers automatically?
Any help appreciated with points.

You can add another SLD ...remember to maintenance the user/pwd for the new sld in SMSY_SETUP Menu: Goto-->SLD User Maintenance

Error while testing the CIMClient Test in SLD Data Supplier

Hi Experts,
I am setting my SLD Data Supplier in Visual Administrator. I had filled the host/port/user/password information for both "HTTP Settings" and "CIM Client Generation Settings". Now, when i click on the "CIMClient Test" button, its getting and error message saying "Failed to Generate and Test CIMOMClient Object".
I have full authorization to use admin tools.
What might be the problem.

Sunil,
1. Try to restart the SLD Data Supplier Service in Visual Administrator.
2. Check your input for testing CIMClient.
Hostname should be fully qualified domain name.
And cross verify the Port number properly.

IP Address of hostname can not change on SLD.

We have a problem with Netwaever CE 7.1 EhP1.
<What have been done in our environment>
IP address of the CE server was changed (with the same hostname).
However, IP address setting on SLD(Technical systems) remains the same.
<Symptoms - what we are trying to resolve>
We can't create new Web service using CAF, and can't use existing Web services.
What we asume is that the IP address setting on SLD, which does not point at the changed IP address of the CE server, is referenced by WSDL when creating Web service using CAF or when trying to use existing Web services.
<What we want to know>
We want to know how to change IP address setting on SLD.
We can't change IP address setting on SLD, because the IP address setting screen does not allow us to change the IP address setting, even though the screen displays the current setting.
Below is the way you can bring up the IP address setting screen for your confirmation.
We don't want to re-install, because we don't want to delete any existing Web services.

Netweaver Application Server Java
-> Web Dynpro
->Content administrator
->Start assigned SLD
->Technical Systems
->(Click the CE Server's Technical System (AS Java) )
->(Click CE Server's hostname on General tab)

Error while setting up Technical Monitoring

Hi,
I am trying to setup monitoring of my ERP 6 system using SolMan and encountered an issue. Here are the steps I've taken. This is the first time I'm doing this and its already been about a week solving one hurdle after another by myself. Please help.
As i am configuring SOLMAN 7.1 and i am stucked in the configuration step Prepare Landscape.
Steps which i have performed in System Preperation is
1. Created Users.
2. Configured ABAP
3. Configured Web Services
4. Prepare Landscape :
   1. Select SLD.
   2. Prepare Outside Discovery.
   3. Connect Diagonstics Agent.
   4. Set Up LMDB - here i am getting "Content synchronization from SLD to LMDB is not configured"
Can anyone tell me how to configure SLD to LMDB?

This is actually done by BASIS guys with the XI team help, ask them to connect SLD to solution manager. This is same as of SM 7.0 on Connect Managed Systems to SLD - SAP Solution Manager Setup - SCN Wiki
After you set the SLD, means if step Select SLD is green, then you can go for automatic content synchronization

SLD Server does not start

Hi,
I try to configure my local SLD. I created all the roles and groups mentioned in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/43/ce62c162cd0cd4e10000000a1553f7/content.htm. I put my Administrator User in all of the created groups. When entering the SLD I get told that the "SLD Server has stopped".
When I try to start the server it fails with some error messages. This is the first one:

Maybe it is a problem with permissions. But I cannot find the action mentioned in the error message "action produce and instance SLDClusterNotificationTopic".
Any idea how I can solve this problem.

Just a hint from the link you mentioned.
"If you want to set up SLD security for test purposes, you only have to map the LcrAdministrator role to the SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR group and assign an administrator user to this group."
Did you add Administrator user to SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR group mapped to LcrAdministrator role? If not, try it too.

How to Setup SLD

Hi we have XI3.0 SP16, SAP R3 4.6B
We are setting up SLD for this landscape.
How to define Business system and technical System for R/3. Do we still call this ABAP WEBAS ( though its not WEB AS). Also Do we have to attach Integration Server to this ABAP WebAS ?

SLD Landscape Best Practice recomendation

I am seeking advise on setting up SLD in my ever growing landscape.
I currently have a Master SLD on the same system as my NWDI system and a local SLD on my Solution manager 7.0 system that is updated from the master.
The Master SLD is shared by our ECC6 Duel Stack landscape and my BI 70 Duel stack portal landscape.
I have upcoming projects of implementing a PI 7.1 landscape, implementing CTS+ and a Solution Manager Enterprise upgrade all of which will be heavily dependent on SLD.
I have seen documentation that PI would like it's own local SLD.
My question is what would be the prefered SLD landscape and how to I get there. Any recomendations or best practices would be most appreciated.

SLD that we have implemented in our landscape is like bleow:
1) All PI and Portal system has local SLD.
2) For all non- production system, we have one SLD and production system we have seperate SLD.
3) It means we are following 3 tier SLD landscape as resommended by SAP.
4) Main SLd lies on solman, for production we have seperate and non-production we have seperate. non production and production sld sent data to main sld that is on solman.
4) All systems except PI and portal send data to production and non-production sld. PI and portal systems first send data to local which in turns send to production and non-production sld.
5) So by this way you whole environment is secure as production sld is different.
So, i will recommend to have 3 tier SLD approach. One of the important thing is don't use cenrtal user to send data across SLD as one user lock will in turns be the fallback of whole environment. So, always make each system specific user for data transfer so that user lock of one system will not impact other.

SLD architecture is a long discussion
There are different views on how to set up SLD's.
In my oppinion, the limitations of SLD is that it's a central component to a growing number of netweaver component.
Right now, the portal, webdynpro, xi, nwdi wouldn't work very well without the SLD.
Considering this there is aspects on how to set up the SLD's. Usually critical systems have a local SLD, with supplyer briges to central SLD's.
You would have a separate SLD landscape for Production servers, since they usually run on different SLA (service level agreements).
If you're using NWDI, it's usually a good place to have you're central SLD.
If you're running a smaller landscape, go for the local SLD only and don't complicate your landscape too much.

SLD Parameter Object Server

Hi!
When I access http://<localhost>:50000/sld, then clicking on to Technical Landscape, I get an error "Please set the SLD Parameter Object Server first".
I suspect that I haven't activated SLD. So I searched on how to activate it and found this procedure, "Configuring and Activating System Landscape".

MDM Registration in SLD

Hello All,
I need to register MDM system in my PI 7.1 SLD, so i need to know, i should be doing this by adding as Standalong system type option or can i also do it with SLDREG?
I did read a note # 1018839 regarding SLDREG and as per it.."The "receiving" SLD must be at least Release 7.0. If an old SLD (for example, Release 6.40) receives an "sldreg" data package, it writes the
following error to the SLD log: ERROR". So i think this also applies for MDM system?
So can anybody please advice..how exactly should i be doing this?

Thanks for the information. That is adding system manually, i'm trying to register it through SLDREG.
Anyways, i have ran the SLDREG command for configuring the system in SLD, it also generated file slddest.cfg & slddest.cfg.key, along with sld.xml in all 3 servers namely MDS, MDIS & MDSS. But it has not created sld.log file, from where i can see the logs. (I dont know...why it has not )
While registering i did not got any errors, but still i'm unable to see my MDM system in SLD, do i need to do any setting from SLD point of view in SLD server, after running sldreg command?
Please let me know, if any more settings need to be done.

Please find the steps you need to do in the R/3 system.
Checked the RFC SLD_NUC and SLD_UC both are pointing to SLD system.
Change in Transaction SLDAPICUST
Transaction RZ70 give the setting of SLD system and then execute the DATA collection job.
then goto visual admin and in sld data supplier under the server node change the Point the HTTP to SLD System.Also change the CIM client the next tab and give details of the SLD.
After that you cango in the SLD url and check you have the entry of the SID.
