Setting up Strong passwords in E sourcing 9

Hi All,
How can i setup strong password standards for both Internal and External Users in SAP Sourcing 9.
Best,
HM

Hello Harsh,
I presume the sellside (fsvendor) is attached to an LDAP? If so you could simply use the LDAP`s complexity rules/password policy. You can point the SAP Sourcing application in it`s Directory Configuration via the "Properties" tab (properties: "password_policy_dn" and "passwordlength" are available for this) to those.
The application itself does not control this. Does this help?

  • Strong Password Enforcement

I have seen numerous sites which ask you to create a login
and password, then reject your selected password if it does not
adhere to their rules for strong passwords. Anyone seen/used CF
code to do this. At a minimum I'm thinking:
    1. At least 6 characters
    2. At least one number and at least one letter
I would also like to look at "password not similar to login"
and "password not like a dictionary word" but I'm sure these, at
least the second, would require an application and/or database
    table.
Any other ideas on adding login/password security simply?
Next I will tackle password, and maybe login ID, encryption.
It looks to me like the CF functions encrypt and decrypt might be a
    good way to do that.

Depending on performance, you could perform a FindNoCase or a
ListFindNoCase on a text file read into a variable.
Ideally, a password shouldn't be a dictionary entry, so
consider using a java based spell checker. Most of the open source
spell checkers are geared towards markup of the errors, so a little
Java coding might be needed to return a boolean on if the entry is
a dictionary entry or not instead of a markup. Use cfobject to
invoke the class or even create a custom java tag to check the
    entry.
Then perform other security checks using regex, such as
contains at least one of an upper case, lower case and numeric
    character.

  • Cannot set a secure password

I woke up to see an email about an order for a calling subscription to Guatemala added to my account (while I was sleeping)
The first thing I did was log in and change my password. The problem is the site keeps giving me a message that my new password is 'too easy to guess' and won't accept it. It does this when I use a strong password with numbers, symbols and different case letters.  - Yet I found the only way to change my password was to use a simple password that really IS easy to guess. - It takes that fine.

Open routers set up page using http://192.168.1.1 ....you will see username & password ....leave username blank & in password use admin.....
Click on "wireless" tab.... look for "wireless security" sub-tab ...... it will show you security level ....... you can either make it WEP or disable the seurity .....
In case of WEP have a note of WEP key no-1 ...... click save settings....

  • EDW - setting and enforcing password policies

We would like to force password changes, force stronger passwords, etc. We have set things up this way on the login server password policy screens, but the changes in policy don't seem to be working. (Users with passwords that are identical to their userids are not forced to change their passwords.) Any suggestions?

There is only if there is more than one resource but selecting which resource to change the password on is not the issue. The problem is if I select the check box, indicating that I want to change the password on the resource, the resource password policy is enforced when generating the password, not the user's assigned password policy.
Maybe I'm not describing it well enough. It is a tad complex. Here's the steps I took to get into this situation.
    1) Create an low strength password policy
    2) Assign the low strength password policy to the resource under the "Identity System Parameters" for the resource. This should enforce a minimum level of password strength for the given resource.
    3) Create a high strength password policy.
    4) Create an account policy and link the high strength password policy to the account policy.
    5) Edit a user and select the "Assignments Tab".
    6) Assign the account policy (with the high strength password policy) to the user.
    7) Reset the user's password in the admin interface selecting the resource's checkbox.
    8) The password generated by IDM is based on the low strength resource password policy, not the high strength policy assigned to the user.
So in theory now, the user has an account policy that in turn has a password policy that is stronger than the resources enforced password policy. The problem is when I reset the user's password (selecting the resource to reset the password on) the user's assigned policy is not used when generating the password. I don't know and can't tell if this is standard behaviour.
Ideally I'd like to figure out a way to force IDM to use the user's assigned policy rather than the resource policy when generating the password.
In all other cases I'm able to manually ensure that the password passes the user's assigned policy. It is only in the case of a password reset where it is not possible to do so. So... I'm looking for work-arounds.

  • How do I set up a password on my WRT54GS?

I have been using my wireless router for a couple of years and never bothered to set up a password... When I am away from home and try to use either my lap top or IPod Touch to connect to a wireless network, I notice that I need to enter a password to be allowed to do it... I would like to set up something similar in my wireless router so that anyone in my neighborhood attempting to use my wireless network has to enter a password before being able to do it.  How can I set this up?  I have no idea and would appreciate any help.... Thanks!

1st it is suggested you do these steps on a hardwired PC.
Step 1: Access the routers web based utility interface. To do this, open up Internet Explorer or any web browser and then type on the address bar http://192.168.1.1 (username just leave it blank, password as a default is admin).
Then click on WIRELESS and then WIRELESS SECURITY.
    Step 2:
Select WPA Personal under the Security Mode drop-down menu.
Enter your desired WPA Key on the WPA Shared Key field such as “MySecretKey.” This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network.
NOTE: Do not give this key to anyone. This key will secure your wireless network. Leave Group Key Renewal to 3600 seconds.
Then save the settings and you are good to go from there.

  • How do you re-set the master password without knowing what it is?

I set up a master password, and can't remember it.  I haven't activated the filevault, so from what I read, that is good.  But I still don't know how to re-set the master password if I don't have the old one to change it.  Please help.  I have too many albums in iTunes, documents, and calander events that have not been backed up, so I don't want to reinstall the software, if that is an option.  At least not until I can pick up an external backup.

I forget where I read this, but to eliminate an existing filevault "master password", delete the files 'FileVaultMaster.cer' and 'FileVaultMaster.keychain' in your computer's main '/Library/Keychains/' folder (not through "Keychain Access.app"). You should then be able to set a new "master password" in the "Security" preference pane if you ever decide to use "filevault" again. Note that if you do this while an account is still encrypted (ie. with filevault enabled), that account will not be accessible with the new "master password".

  • How do I set the firmware password on 10.7

    Hi
How do I set the firmware password in Mac OS 10.7.2 (MacBook Pro) ?
The Apple instructions only seem to go up to 10.5.x
    Thanks

Firmware password is not much use as any thief can reset it by pulling out the memory chips and putting them back in again.
The only real way to secure your data 99% is to use FileVault 2.

  • How can I set up a password to open each email account to keep privacy?

    Hello,
Different members of the family are using the same ipad. How can I set up a password for each email account to keep privacy ?
    Thanks
    Dx

You can not - it's a single-account device, including email, so you can't set up seperate passwords for seperate emails. All or nothing, I'm afraid.

  • My laptop (HP Pavilion) will not allow me to upgrade or download Firefox without logging in as Administrator, and I don't recall ever setting up a password for Administrator...I'm the only user of the laptop. How can I get around this?

I was trying to upgrade to the newest version of Firefox, and when I downloaded it, and clicked on run, it took me to a login box, where I had to choose whether to continue as current user or login as Administrator. When I clicked on continue as current user, nothing happened. When I tried logging on as Administrator, I used all the passwords I could think of that I use and nothing was accepted. Id on't recall ever setting up a password for Adminstrator on this computer, so I don't know what to do. I even deleted the older version of Firefox thinking that might help, but it didn't work either, and now I don't even have that! Help!

What iPhone do you have? You can check in settings>>general>> about.
If you have a 3G you cannot update beyond iOS 4.2.1. The 3G is over 4 years old an was discontinued over 2 1/2 years ago. You need the latest ios to run the latest versions of some apps. If you have a 3GS you can update.
If your phone is not responding, reset it by pressing and holding down both the home button ad lock/ sleep button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

  • My apple id has been disabled. I have set a new password and it still does not work. Does anyone know why this would have happened.  About 6 months ago someone hacked my itunes account  so I set a new password.

My Apple ID has been disabled.  I have set a new password, but it still is saying disabled.  About six months ago my itunes was hacked. Itunes replaced the money, but now I am cannot get in. Is there anyone who might be able to help me out? Thanks

What did itunes support tell you?
If you did everything it says then you contacted them.
    From the article you linked:
If the issue persists, you can visit iCloud Support, iTunes Support, Apple Print Products, or contact AppleCare for further assistance."

  • How do I set a guest password on my media hub?

Page 43 of the NMH405 media hub manual indicates that you can set a guest password on users.  It is supposed to be under settings\system and although I see all the other settings under system, that one isn’t there.  Maybe they cut the feature at the last minute.  I'm running 3.18.15 of the firmware.
My ultimate goal is to have one account that I can use to write new content to the server and one that is read only for my family.  I'm worried right now that they will delete the content (which they have done).
Any advice or workarounds to achieve this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

Guest access can only be used if you'll be accessing the media hub remotely. Network Media Hub also lacks multiple user access.

  • How do I set an exclusive password for the iCloud settings in my Mac at work?

    Here's the thing:
I want to have my computer at work (MacPro) synched with iCloud (all my contacts and bookmarks). But to do and still feel safe that no one else would open System Preferences and mess up with the iCloud settings (for example, turning on the photo sharing or callendars, wich are very private). I would like to know if there's a way to set an exclusive password (not only the system password) for this area of the System Preferences.

I suggest you post your question on an MS Office forum since it's their software you're having issues with.
