Setting up work email on iPhone

Hi,
I'm having some difficulty setting up my work email (MS Exchange) on my iPhone 2.1. I've asked the IT administrator and she says that they won't allow (yet, at least) access to the Exchange server from outside the work network or on any device other than a computer when even in the network.
However, I know for a fact that one of my colleagues who has a Blackberry Curve is able to access the work account without any problems.
What's the deal here and is there any way I can replicate my colleague's Blackberry settings for my iPhone?

Its really straight forward. My Galaxy s5 started at 4.4.4 and now is at lollipop 5.0.

You may have been caught be the recent retirement of some of the old servers rather than the upgrade to 4.4.4.‎

Work Emails on iPhone

I currently use Microsoft Outlook to receive my work emails. It is possible to check my emails from my iPhone while on the road?
If there is a discussion on this already could I please have the link?

What type of account is your email account - Exchange, IMAP, or POP?
The iPhone supports accessing all three.
If the account is an Exchange account, the account can be accessed via ActiveSync which provides Push access for received messages, and over the air syncing for contacts and calendar events. ActiveSync must be enabled at the Exchange server for your Exchange account in order to do so.
An Exchange account can also be accessed as an IMAP account which won't include Push access for received messages, or over the air syncing for contacts and calendar events. IMAP account access must be enabled at the Exchange server for your Exchange account.
If the account is a regular IMAP or POP account, you can get the account settings required to create and access the account with the iPhone's Mail client from Outlook. You will need the incoming mail server, user name, and outgoing mail sever or the SMTP server.

Added work email to iPhone now can't send emails for either hotmail or work account

I just added my work email to my iPhone and now cannot send emails. I am still receiving emails to both my work email and hotmail account but despite sending test emails to myself I cannot send any emails. Can somebody help explain why? Thanks

Remove your work email from the device and then test the issue.

Unable to set up work email account

My company went through server maintainence during Christmas and I cannot connect to my work email account through Blackberry. The IT dept told me that they have not changed the server settings on SMTP or POP3. They have given me all the user and server details, I tried using these to register through my service provider webpage and it cannot do so.
My colleague also lost his work account and he managed to reset with the same details and now able to connect.
The IT dept said they cannot do anymore to help and ask me to contact my service provider. My service provider said it is problem with our IT dept. Can someone please help me with this problem as I am getting desperate!

Seems that you need to do enterprise activation again on your blackberry device.
Contact your corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) admin for the instructions.
Go to Options - Enterprise Activation
specify your corporate email address, specify your BES account password and select from menu "Activate"

Setting up Comcast email on iPhone

Hello,
I just got the iPhone two days ago and am trying to set up my Comcast email, but having some difficulty. I've gone online and tried all the recommended steps, like incoming mail server "mail.comcast.net" and SMTP as "smtp.comcast.net," the server port at 995 and Use SSL on, and SMTP server at 589 eiyh SSL on.
But still I am not receiving emails and not only that, but it doesn't show my other emails (I have it set to receive 50 most recent emails).
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Are you accessing the Comcast account from any other system? Comcast email accounts are POP, so if you access email from any other device before you try to connect from the iPhone, then only if you set the other device to leave the messages on the Comcast server would you see them from the iPhone. Otherwise the messages are erased from the server and not accessible from any system other than the one to which they were downloaded (that's how POP works).

Setting up Yahoo email on iPhone 4

My Yahoo id is different from my yahoo email address. How do I set up my Yahoo account to allow for this on the iphone?
I've tried setting up Yahoo as an 'Other' account with both POP and IMAP, neither seem to work. Any ideas?

I'm able to receive email using the following incoming mail server:
imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com
However, the outgoing mail server still isn't being recognized and won't allow me to send mail:
smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Any thoughts?

Are you currently accessing your runbox email account with the Mail.app or with another email client on your Mac?
If so, you should be able to use the same account settings used when creating the account with the email client on your Mac. I'm unable to open their support link with a failed to open page error message - looks like they have a scheduled downtime due to server park relocation so I assume this is affecting access to their support link.

Can anyone tell me how to set up my snow leopard server and my iphone so that I get push email, calendar and addressbook? I can't find this anywhere in the manuals.

Mac OS X Server 10.6 Snow Leopard Server does not support push notifications to iOS devices.
See Supported push mail accounts on iPhone and iPod touch (HT2625) and Mac OS X Server v10.6: Push Notification Server and supported applications (HT3947) for the official details.
From the second article, Currently, iOS Mail and Calendar apps do not support Push Notifications from Mac OS X Server v10.6.

Setting up hotmail email on iPhone

Hi,
When setting up my hotmail account on my iPhone 4s, I've noticed that all my folders from the my web account get transferred to my phone, and I don't want that. If I delete the folders from my iPhone email, the folders get deleted from my hotmail server, and that's not good at all!! How can I fix this big problem?
Also, how do I change my sender name/display name on my iPhone email? I.e. if my sender name is shown as John Marc but I just want it to be John??

Choose Hotmail for Hotmail and Other for the other one.
The phone will try to determine the server addresses automatically. If it can't you'll be asked for them. If you don't know them you'll have to contact the email provider and ask.

How do I set up netzero email on iphone 4?

I've been trying for the last hour!!! I've googled it and read several posts. I've also tried following all of the information on the netzero site, but I'm still getting the message about ssl. One post said to change the pop port number but I don't know how to do that on my iphone 4. Help.

POP3, just don't. it's old, slow, inefficient, and default settings are not optimal.
Use an IMAP service (Gmail/Outlook.com) and have it fetch your POP3 email.

Thanks for the response. It's a mixture of different things -- for example, my email syncs (over the air) but not my calendar. Others are experiencing no syncing at all.

Work email woes

I do not want to be alerted if I get a new work email, I'd prefer to go into that inbox manually to update for new emails. I would, however, like to maintain my settings that my personal inbox alerts me of new mail every few minutes. I am trying to set my work email to only fetch email if I physically go into that email inbox. I have tried every variation on manual fetching, pushing data, yet nothing seems to work.

This is how I have my work email set up, it only checks the email when I actually open up the mail app.
Settings - mail - fetch new data - off / push is off - my work account - set to manual.

Is there a way to set up an auto redirect from my work email to my iPhone?

I currently using my personal email on my iPhone. However, I would like to find a way to get my work emails automatically redirected to my iPhone when I am not in the office. I don't want to set up a separate account because I only want those emails which I receive after I leave the office. I'm envisioning something similar to call forwarding on a phone where when you are in the office, you take it off, and when you are out, you can turn it on.
Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it, and what do I need to tell my company's IT person? I don't want to be carrying 2 smart phones (Blackberry for work, iPhone for personal use).

The only problem will be when replying or forwarding a work email with your personal email account, which will be sent with your personal email account/address.
This can't be set up with the iPhone - this must be set up at the server for the email account to be forwarded to another email account.
Is your work account an Exchange account? If so, I'm not sure if an Exchange account supports being forwarded to another email account, and this would need to be turned on at the server at work every day at a designated time and turned off at a designated time in the morning.

I have an iPhone by my IT department won't support it. So I have to set-up my email myself. The problem is I'm not sure what info to fill in and where.
I am able to access my email using remotemail on the web so I'm hoping I can use that info. My details look as follows:

Generally speaking, you need to set up an Exchange account using the Exchange setup option, then fill out the information as listed. The server should be remotemail.company.co.uk with your user name and password being the those that you use to log into your mail site.
However, you must remember that your IT department holds all the keys to the realm, if you will. Unless they have the proper options checked on your account, such as off network ActiveSync access you will not be able to set the iPhone up with your work email account.
Do other people in your company access their email using mobile devices? What devices do they use?
