Setting Useraccountcontrol to 512 in AD failed

HI,
I m trying to set useraccountcontrol of AD to 512 using VBscript (with password set) and it got failed with message "Object not supported". I m able to set 514 though. FYI..my IC machine and AD machine are in 2 different domains
I remember that we use to get this error when we try to set password in AD and the reason is the IC machine and AD machines are in 2 different domains. Just wondering whether the problem related to useraccountcontrol=512 is also due to 2 different domains? Does anybody tried setting 512? If so please help me out. Thanks in advance

I havent tried it, but know for sure that LDAP SSL connection is required when crossing domains for some operations (like password reset and modifying groups etc). Hope this helps.

See above error, It cannot the Duplicate Key in your log table. Duplicate means repeated as a same data.So kindly check once your data.
IF,I assume your scenario is Synchronous, If you are using any sender JDBC adapter just check with your Quality of Service and set it to "Exactly once".

According to your description, after selected “Change Password at next logon” setting, logged on users were prompted to change their passwords after about 10 seconds, right?
This is a normal behavior. I understand that you expect that this change password page will only appear after a user logged on from a local computer through Winlogon.exe, which is called
Interative Logon.
The fact is that there are many logon types besides an Interactive Logon, in your case, the logon type used by Outlook is
Service Logon, and RDS uses RemoteInteractive Logon type.
You can view these logon events under Security Logs
if you have Audit Policy enabled, there are numerous of them.

Actions which include Set Reference Pt via Transform Panel failing consistently during playback

The title pretty much says it all. I have two different Windows XP machines, both got upgraded to CS 6 (the x.0.0 release, the Release Notes for the x.0.1 don't directly address this, but if this topic pulls up blank, I may go that route... it requires running an approval gauntlet via IT, otherwise I'd already have done it).
Repeatable problem is this:
0. Create and select an object. Even a basic rectangle will do.
1. Creat a new Action.
2. Begin recording.
3. In the Transform Panel, specify a new Reference Point that isn't the lower right (if your machines are like mine, you will get a "double hit" of the same Action step, no matter how gently you click on the new Reference Point). I say "not the lower right" for a reason in a second.
4. Feel free to make a couple other numeric transforms in the Transform Panel. I tried adjusting Width and Height.
5. Stop recording.
6. Undo back to the original state (though I suppose it isn't necessary to deomnstrate the point)
7. Run the Action.
First thing, the Set Reference Point seems to be utterly ignored, *or* sometimes it sets to the lower right and stays stuck there. I made one Action that was just a series of moving the Reference Point around a rectangle clockwise. The Action failed after the first Set and then stayed locked on the lower right for no discernible reason.
In an attempt to revisit some old Actions that were working without fail under 5.5, I loaded those. For those imported Actions, every time playback hit a step calling for a "Transform Panel," it would return an error dialog "The object "Transform Panel" is not currently available."
What in the blue blazes is going on here? Needless to say, this is taking a wrecking ball to our dozen mission-critical Action Sets, which all rely upon setting transforms to fit particular spaces automatically, precisely and consistently, and which, I might add, worked fine under 5.5.
On the positive side, the bug where movement of objects by their X,Y coordinates via the Transform Panel during Playback seems to be fixed. So, I guess there's that.
Help?
P.S. Addendum: if anyone on CS6 (16.0.0 and/or 16.0.1) can at least run through the test case above and either confirm or deny that I am crazy to be witnessing this, that would be helpful, too.

I FIXED IT!!!
How? I made a simple Action that just recorded my changing the reference point around an object clockwise, saved the Action, then cracked it open in a text editor (Wordpad, in my case).
Most of the items aren't terribly useful (for instance, Adobe, why are dialog texts in machine code rather than human-readable strings? That's be darn handy), BUT at the end of each step of the Action (called Events), I noticed that there was a variable being set to "8" every time. Yes, there are 9 possible reference points, but you need to think like a programmer/computer here. Yep, the first point isn't "1," it's "0." So, counting left-to-right, top-to-bottom gives you...
0 = Top Left
1 = Top Middle
7 = Bottom Middle
8 = Bottom Right
So it isn't the playback that's at fault, it's THE ACTION RECORDER getting it wrong. I changed that last "8" variable to a "1" and brought it back into Illustrator and ta-da! My reference point gets accurately set at the Top Middle and proceeds from there! YAY! HAPPY DANCE!

Set-acl and remove-ntfs both fail from PowerShell yet i can do it from the GUI

I have put together a script that searches all of our folders then searches the folders for groups that should have access and do not and groups that should not have access and do.
Finding only the folders that need NTFS permissions changed works great. Adding the groups that need added works great but removing groups is not working. Below is a section of my script with the section not working underlined. You can
see i have tried 2 approaches.
If i use the Remove-NTFSAccess command (which i really prefer) I get no errors and you would think all worked until you check.
If i use set-acl about half give me a error "Set-Acl : The process does not possess the 'SeSecurityPrivilege' privilege which is required for this operation" but it does not remove the Domain admins for any of the
folders including the ones that give no error.
I have privileges to do it. I can go to a folder and remove the group from the NTFS permissions in the GUI with no issue.

I just ran that a couple of times. No errors as long as the subfolders are not protected in a way the blocks the admin. I will try and find a folder that causes this exact scenario.

The SACL being overwritten isn't fixed. There's a Connect bug
here. Set-Acl basically does this before trying to call SetAccessControl():

Next, it tries to call SetAccessControl() inside of a try{} block. If it detects a PrivilegeNotHeld exception, it will try to redo the section above without setting the Owner, Group, and SACL (if certain conditions are met). I can't get the second call to
error the way Lishron did, but that doesn't mean there's no scenario where that can't happen.
By the way, here's an example of trying to call SetAccessControl() with the modified SD object from above:

I set up firefox sync on two desktops; setting it up on a third fails with "unknown error" after I input the key. All other add-ons are disabled. What should I do?

I followed the same procedure in adding a device for the second and for the third. The second one worked, but not the third.

I have a MAC computer with Sync. Was set up under sync Beta. I have an Android phone synced to it that was synced using the pair this device function. It works perfectly. I just got a new Android Tablet and am trying to add it to my sync and it does not seem to have the pair my device function. It insists I log into my sync account. So I try it and it tells me invalid userid/password. I verify and it is the exact email address userid that shows as being my sync account on the MAC. I verify the password on the MAC and it tests out fine. Try the tablet again and invalid.. So I try to reset my password on the tablet and am told my email address/account name does not exist. I just verified it AND Synced my MAC using it!! I have my recovery Key but there is no place to input it into the tablet. There is no place on tablet to enter the link device codes. How can my account be valid and in use on two devices but invalid and nonexistant on the new one? And How do I get the New one to sync with other two?

Yes, Apex is almost entirely independent of the file system. There is no 'Apache' and the 'file system' is really the database exposed as a WebDAV environment.
If I understand the question correctly, what you want to do is export from the original database and import to this one. That may be done using the 'exp' and 'imp' commands at command line.

An odd set of problems - full re-install fail

Hello helpful computer people
I have a funny set of problems which has culminated in me wanting to fully reinstall operating software. I will explain why I want to do this in a minute, but the main problem is that I can't manage to do it! When I boot up my mac from the startup disk I get a messed up display. The information is obviously all there on the screen, but it's displayed in weird jagged lines. This means that I can't make out where to click to continue with the installation. I also though that the disk drive was being particularly clunky sounding, but could be imagining that.

The problems up to this point have been really odd, with applications one by one stopping responding and finder crashing. Also the computer will sometimes not go to sleep when closed and the fan will go a bit mad. I have had particular problems with browsers crashing and generally the computer grinding to a halt with nothing but the off button having any effect.
I have tried loads of stff - reseting P ram, repairing disks, running cleanups on Onyx, removing programmes etc.
I want to go back to square one because things are getting a bit messy, it won't let me reinstall Safari becuase it thinks it's already there, but It doesn't show up on search!
I tried reinstalling Snow Leopard but realised that didn't really do much and am now going down the route of putting the original install disk in. I bought there computer second hand btw, so there is a possibility that the install disks are wrong, although unlikely because the guy was trustworthy.

Just want to clear up the fact that the original problems encountered were not display related and it only happens when I try to do that one specific task. The computer is working ok now and I am writing this message from it.

Set-DPMGlobalProperty -KnownVMMServers - DPM Powershell command fails

I must be over looking a step and hope that someone can point out something obvious I am missing.
We are running SCDPM 2012 SP1 on a Win server 2012 and SCVMM 2012 SP1 on another Win 2012 server.
I want to setup DPM to automatically protect our VM's when they're migrated around on our Server 2012 Hyper-V hosts.
The SCDPM2012 Server has the Hyper-V role added and has the SCVMM console installed. The SCVMM console on the SCDPM server and SCVMM server are the same version 2012 SP1 Version 3.1.6018.0.
The SCDPM agent is installed on the SCVMM server. On the SCVMM server I have granted administrator rights to the SCDPM server account.
On the SCDPM server I open an Admin elevated powershell and import the dpm modules. When I then try to run Set-DPMGlobalProperty –DPMServerName MyDpmServerName -KnownVMMServers MySCVMMServerName I get the following Error.
WARNING: Connecting to DPM server: MyDPMServer
Set-DPMGlobalProperty : DPM was unable to configure and start the VmmHelperService on the DPM Server.
Server name: MyDPMServer.
Exception Message: Time out has expired and the operation has not been completed. (ID: 33399)
1) Verify that VMM Console features are installed on the DPM Server.
2) To reconfigure the VMM server in DPM, use the Set-DPMGlobalProperty cmdlet as follows:
Set-DPMGlobalProperty -DpmServerName <DPMServerName> -KnownVMMServers <VMMServerName>.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The problem could be related to registry permissions. The DPM VMM Helper service should be running under the NetworkService account and it may not have read/write permissions on the key: "Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\2.0\Configuration"
Please verify the System/Network Service account has read/write permissions on this registry key and try rerunning the command.

Set the redirect page when SSO failed

Hi,
We have LC 2.5 with the SSO enabled.
When users failed to login via SSO, it seems that the system will re-direct to /um/login.
Is it possible that we could configure the behaviour so that
1. when user click the task notification, it will try the SSO and go to the workspace of that task
2. if user failed to login via SSO, can it rediect to the /worksapce/main.html page, they can input their user name and password for authentication ?

We have modified the ui of the workspace, however, the source_url and logoin_url remain unchanged (i.e. /workspace/Main.html).
we have run a capture on the redirect behaviour
item 5-20 is the redirect flying around,
and item 21 we input the URL input in the browser explicitly, and it could show the page and the same user can login successfully, this make us really difficult to find out why it would happen.

ORA-24812: character set conversion to or from UCS2 failed

Oracle 9.2.0.4
PHP 4.3.3
data in db is in unicode UTF8
NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8
Then reading more than N Kb from CLOB I get ORA-24812.
If clob less than N Kb it's working fine.
On 9.2.0.1 SELECT convert(myclob, 'UTF16','AL32UTF8') causing instance crash.
Can you help me ?

Can't set default java for Mozilla in java control panel

OK. It was fine before installation of SE 6u5. Now Sun java works ok in IE7 but not in Firefox 2.0.0.8. THe problem is obviously in the java control panel that sun java is set as default java for MS IE, but not Mozilla. Here is my question:
I used to be able to tick BOTH IE and Mozilla. But now, when I tick Mozilla, it accepts but after I click yes to close the control panel and open it again, the tick i just made disappears. (So, it means not accepted as a default java) I did make new installation of Firefox for other reasons. Could it be that something has been messed up by both installations. I have tried to remove the deployment.properties and install JRE 1.6.0_5 again while Firefox is already there, but in vein. Thre is another problem that may be related. I can't use the installer downloaded from the internet. I have to use the installer available in the Documents and Settings\administrator\application data\sun\java\jre1.6.0_05 to install jre1.6.0_5.
Environment: Windows XP pro SP2 with up-to-date Windows updates. Sun java installed: JRE 1.4.2_17, JRE1.6.0_5, and JDK 1.5.0_15.
I need help to know what can I do to make sun java woking with my Firefox again.... Another question: can i uninstall the JRE 1.4.2_17 since I have now JRE 1.6.0_5?

You cannot set a default value for this attribute, because by default Identity Sync sets useraccountcontrol to 512.
You can find this default value in the configuration registry (under the ou=services tree on your configuration directory server) and change it to 514. Make sure you restart the Identity Sync services after you update the value.
