Setting viewing options in iTunes 12

How do I set command i pop up window to always show "album artist" and "disc number" ? (I have no idea why Apple thinks it is a good idea to hide other fields when there is so much screen real estate to make the pop up larger. It is annoying that they didn't consider to put all info on just one tab too)

Sadly that is the way it is.
There is iTunes Feedback if you want to make a suggestion...

  • View Options in iTunes 8

    Two customizable view options in iTunes 7 seem to have disappeared from iTunes 8, can anyone help me find them? First of all, those annoying little arrows that take you to the iTunes store. They appear in the list after song title, artist, and album title after whatever song you have selected. There was an option to turn them off in iTunes 7 but I can't find it now. The second one is way more crucial. In the browser up top there are three categories--Genre, Artist, and Album. I don't use Genre at all, and I had it turned off in iTunes 7 so that only Artist and Album appeared, but now I can't figure out how to do that. Is there a way to get rid of the Genre box in the browser too? Thanks for your help.

    Heres a easy way to do it on mac computers. Work on mine for iTunes 8. God I hate those arrows
    I"n iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store -- these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes' binary found the solution, thankfully.
    If you'd like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
    Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
    I'm sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution -- and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!"

  • How do I set view options for all playlists at once?

    Hello,
    I want to able to set the view options for all my playlists at once (to include BPM, category etc). Currently you can only do this individually for each playlist.
    Surely there is an easier way?

    Now I have some questions:
    1. Is there a way of selecting multiple playlist in iTunes? And if yes, can I then change the view options for all selected playlists? How does this work?
    2. Is there any other way to apply view option settings to multiple playlist?
    1 - No
    2 - Using iTunes, no.
    However this script will do what you want .

  • View options in iTunes 10

    Is there any way to apply "view options" (under the view menu) universally to all playlists in iTunes 10? As far as I can tell, it only applies to the selected playlist.
    Thanks-

    Setting the Library's view options (View -> View Options, or Command-J) creates the default template view options for any future playlist.
    To fix the view options for existing playlists, use this free script: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=assimilateviewoptions

  • View options in iTunes

    Under view options, I would like to sort albums by year and descending. This 'descending' option was in earlier versions if iTunes. How can we sort the albums where the new content appears on the top of the list?

    Hi,
    In song view you can sort a number of field by either ascending or descending order.
    You can select year, click on heading, this changes to descending order, click again to get ascending.
    Is this what your looking for?

  • How to set view options for whole subdirectory tree

    In the "shw view options" menu of the Finder, i can set the "show icon preview" and the "icon size" for a single window.
    I wold like to apply these options to all directories in a given directory sub-tree (but not to all directories).
    Doing this manually would be really tedious, since there are a lot of directories in my subdirectory.
    Does anyone have an idea, how to do that more automatically?
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

    Hello Justin
    I copied the sample report <b>SALV_DEMO_TREE_FUNCTIONS</b> (available on IDES ECC 5.0) and added the following coding to routine <i>set_columns_technical</i>:
    [code]&----
    *&      Form  set_columns_technical

    FORM set_columns_technical.
      DATA: lr_columns TYPE REF TO cl_salv_columns,

      lr_columns = gr_tree->get_columns( ).
      lr_columns->set_optimize( abap_true ).
      lr_columns->set_column_position( columnname = 'PRICE'
                                       position   = 1 ).
    change a column's alignment
      TRY.
          lr_column ?= lr_columns->get_column( 'CURRENCY' ).
          lr_column->set_alignment( if_salv_c_alignment=>right ).
    "$Comment: added coding
          DATA:

          ld_short = 'Short'.
          lr_column->set_short_text( ld_short ).
          ld_medium = 'Medium Col Text'.
          lr_column->set_medium_text( ld_medium ).
          ld_long = 'Long Column Text'.
          lr_column->set_long_text( ld_long ).
    "$Comment: added coding
        CATCH cx_salv_not_found.                            "#EC NO_HANDLER
      ENDTRY.

    At least the new short text is displayed on the ALV tree. I assume that you have to be very careful and scrupulous in choosing the correct data types for the method calls.

  • Changes in viewing options in iTunes 8

    Hi all,
    I have had a disappointment with iTunes 8 in terms of the viewing options. I used to view and sort through my library in the list view mode where I would have 3 columns to choose from genre, artist, and album. This was a very convenient and rapid way to sort through and find music I was looking for. This option appears to be gone from iTunes 8. Is it? Why? I am not a fan of sorting through a long list. The grid viewing option does not please me so much either. I see no reason to bog down my system with all the cover art...
    So does anyone know if it is possible to restore the list view with the 3 sorting columns I had in previous iTunes versions?

    Within iTunes:
    View->Show Browser. Or just CTRL-B
    Best of Luck

  • No view option in itunes 8

    as the title say i can’t change the view option for my ipode, if i’m in the music library it works but when i highlight music under my ipod it’s greyed out, it’s also greyed out in the view option on the tool bar, anybody got a fix
    i’ve tried going back to 7.7.1 but it won’t let me

    same here
    under "Library", the music view can be changed just fine
    and under "Devices", meaning the ipod, the music view can't be changed or even select any song as they are all grayed out
    I'm sure it has always been that way, even back in my first itunes 6.xx versions

  • 2G Nano View Options in iTunes dont get saved!!!

    I noticed an issue with the 2G Nano that the view options (columns with Artist, Song, Track Number etc.) always get reset to the default settings in iTunes every time I plug it in to charge/update music. I know with all the other iPods I've owned the iTunes view options (columns with Artist, Song, Track Number etc.) for the particular iPod are always saved and appear the same from computer to computer within iTunes. Does anyone have any idea why the view options aren't being saved on the 2G Nanos when it is viewed within iTunes?

    The other post on this may have been mine.
    What I find is that the Music folder under the plugged-in iPod source always comes up in a weird configuration upon connecting the nano. You can customize from there, and it will hold the new column choices/positions during the session. However, once you eject the iPod and connect again later, you're back to the original nonsense columns (nonsense in that they make no sense for a music library ... the Description column is present, intended for podcasts).
    Fortunately, playlists seem to work. So, I now transfer all my music in one big smart playlist and, when browsing the contents of my nano, I select the playlist rather than Music as the source folder. It's a decent workaround, but I hope the problem is fixed in the next revision.

  • Anyone?... Set View Options Default to 'This window only'

    I came across this discussion (below) that I could not find a solution for. Why does the View Options window always default to 'All Windows'? Usually when you are changing a window setting, you are doing it for that window. Obviously you should not have to change the All Windows settings that often right?
    There has got to be some plist settings (which I could not find) that will automatically set the View Options to 'This Window Only' rather than 'All Windows'.

    Subject: Change Show View Options Default to 'This window only' ??
    Message: I find it very annoying that the finder's default in show view options goes to 'All Windows' rather than 'This Window Only' -- i end up constantly chaning the appearance of folders, much to my chagrin. Is there any way to have the default be on 'This window only" ??

    Yes, I too find the default maddening and know of no way to change it. AFAIK the behavior is hard coded into the Finder. I would be delighted if that were not the case... You can always send Feedback on the issue:

    Of course, considering the number of Finder problems I doubt anything much will come of it, but you never know.

  • Set "View Options" for all future playlists

    Is there a way to set the "View Options" so that they will automatically be the standard way I like them each time I create a playlist?

    A new playlist takes its view from Library - Music.
    Set that how you want and when you create a new playlist, it will have the same columns and column widths

  • Permanently Set View Options

    Greetings. I'm looking ease a minor frustration that occurs when using ARD 3.3.2. In the app, I have a number of scanners, each representing a specific range of IP addresses. When viewing any one scanner, I like to customize the view options to see only: Computer Name, IP Address, Current User, User Status and Current Application. However, once these preferences are set for each scanner and I quit ARD, the View Options are then reset to Default when relaunching. Is this considered standard operation? The issue persists beyond complete reinstalls of ARD. Thanks.

    I think I have found the fix for this problem. I thought there was only one way to change your Remote Desktop view options by selecting View from the Menu Bar and then selecting View Options. There is another way and your selections stay. In the Remote Desktop window Control Click on the header bar of the columns that has the Name, IP Address, Mac OS Version, ARD Version, etc and in the box that pops up you can put a check mark next to or remove the check mark from columns you don't want listed. I've quit ARD and re-opened it and the list of columns I want to show is staying. It's not defaulting back to the default view setting.

  • Setting 'View Options, All Windows', not remembered?

    I've just replaced my G5 iMac with a 20-inch Intel Core Duo model and I'm having a Finder problem.
    When I go into 'View Options' and change the setting from 'This window only' to 'All windows', it keeps switching itself back to 'This window only'. I'll reset it and it will change the window views for a time, but after the window is closed and I go back to it later, it hasn't remembered that I chaged it to 'All windows" and the items I'm trying to view are all over the place rather than being snapped to a grid or being kept arranged by kind. This is very (VERY) annoying!
    Can anyone help?

    If you really want to reset all of your settings for all folders then you can delete all the .DS_Store files. In Terminal, type the following:
    find ~/ -name .DS_Store -exec rm -i '{}' ';'
    This will work for all folders in your home folder and will set everything back to the defaults, including window sizes, views, etc. You'll also lose any spotlight comments you added to files. To do the same for the entire disk replace '~/' with '/' (no quotes).
    Type carefully. If you get bored typing 'y' after a while and you're sure it's only deleting .DS_Store files then you can remove the '-i' part.
    I should have added that then you have to relaunch finder to see the changes.

  • View options in iTunes 12 - window won't display

    When I choose "View Options", nothing seems to occur.  The menu selection is not greyed out, it just doesn't seem to have any functionality when you select it.
    Occasionally when I click elsewhere, I'll see a brief flash, as if something had popped up, but only significantly delayed and not long enough to figure out what happened.

    If you are looking at the Library using the "Songs" option, then you can do as I mentioned above, and right-click on the heading bar to select/deselect options from the fly-out menu. But I think that only works for "Songs" view in the Library.

  • IPod and view options inside iTunes 7

    Please tell me if I have gone crazy. With 2 new iPods and iTunes 7 all the user options for column choices and positions and sizes remain between sessions EXCEPT the main one under Devices - iPod - Music.
    If this is so for everyone then I think it is a bad bug as the main Music listing for the general iTunes window does hold these settings. All playlists are just fine.
    If it is just my situation here, how can it be with two computers (G5 and Intel) and two iPods (nano 2G and 80G video) all behaving the same way?

    Did you make sure you were logged in as an administrator? Especially in your security software if you have any (McAfee, Norton, etc)
