Setting Work Area - Rendering - Crashes

I am using Premiere Elements 11 and it keeps crashing when I try to render.  I read the article about only render the work area, but I can't figure out how to set the start and end points.  How do you get those markers to show up?

Sorry I did not see you latest post earlier. When I submitted my latest post, I did not see your post on the Windows 7 64 bit try.
Here is the check list
1. You have the latest very of QuickTime installed on your Windows 7 64 bit with your Premiere Elements 11. Good.
2. Are you running Premiere Elements 11 as Run As Administrator or from a User Account with Administrative Privileges? Right click the Premiere Elements 11 desktop icon and select Run As Administrator.
3. If you can get into a new project, go to Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks and make sure that they are directed to a save location with lots of hard drive space.
4. Next, we are going to delete the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file. In Windows 7 64 bit, it is found
Local Disk C
Users
Owner
AppData
Roaming
Adobe
Premiere Elements
11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder should be the Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. Be sure to be working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so you can see the complete path. If this does not help, then delete the whole 11.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists.
5. Also, the video card driver needs to be looked at. Verify that it is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card. Check the Device Manager/Display Adapter/your video card listing to see the dating on the driver.
7. If all else above does not get things going in the right direction, then go for a complete uninstall/reinstall of Premiere Elements 11.
a. In the open project, Deactivate via Help Menu/Deactivate. Close the project and the program.
b. Uninstall via the usual Control Panel route.
c. If possible, run the ccleaner (regular and registry parts) http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
d. Reinstall Premiere Elements 11 with firewalls and anti-virus off.
I will be at the computer for the next few hours and will be watching for further developments.
Do not give up.

  • Set work area shortcut not working Premiere CC

    Hello,
I'm having a weird issue, the set work area shortcuts aren't working on Premiere CC on my Mac.  Nothing happens when I hit the shortcut combo,
which are set for option [ and option ] under the keyboard shortcut menu.
The shortcuts work as expected on Premiere CS6.  Am I missing something here?
    Thanks,
    Gerry

    Hey Peter,
Thanks I didn't realize that Premiere had changed the default to work area off, I found it and can see my work area now.
    Cheers,

  • PPRO 2014: ALT+[/] won't set working area start/end

ALT+[/] won't work in PPRO 2014. WIndows 7 x64, Russian. Previous PPRO on the same machine and this very installation of Windows responds to ALT+] command and sets the working area just fine, from both Russian and English language keyboard choice.
NOTE: PPRO2014 windows>adobe premiere pro help menu takes me to the adobe keyboard shortcuts that lists this as a valid keyboard shortcut for Adobe PPRO 2014.
Can anyone let me know if there are new shortcuts or something is wrong with my PPRO 2014 installation (files missing)?
    Thanks!

Thank you, work area bar is an old habit of mine

  • Work area bar in/out -point setzen,P Elements 12

wie kann ich den work area bar in/out -point setzen, alt+[ / ] (alt+5/6) funktioniert nicht, arbeite mit einem IMac

Thank you for posting your question and good job finding the solution yourself.
Apparently you are a Premiere Elements 12 Mac user who wanted to set the gray tabs of the WorkArea Bar to span a specific area of your Timeline and the shortcut Alt + [ and Alt + ] were not working for you.
Your solution was to go to Edit Menu/Keyboard Customization/Windows and the Timeline category and change
Set Work Area Bar In Point from Alt+[ to 5
    and
Set Work Area Bar Out Point from Alt+] to 6
That worked for you. Good job.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere CC Work Area replaced by Sequence In/Out?

    Hi,
I noticed the Adobe blog there was a mention that the Work Area would not be displayed by default.  I also saw somewhere else on the blog that the Work Area was being replaced by the Sequence In/Out functionality.  The Keyboard Shortcuts still has reference to setting Work Area In/Out and yet I can't find a preference or setting to make the Work Area visible.
Is the Work Area no longer in Premiere?  Should I switch over to using the Sequence In/Out?

To make the WAB visible go to the flyout menu of the timeline.
Select clip(s) and hit / (forward slash) for setting in and outpoint.

  • Crashing when "Rendering work area" ?

I worked on a few sequences adding Chroma Key effects (superposing images / video shots).
Following the 'Adobe Premiere CS3 Bible', I finalized by doing : Sequence / Render Work Area, but close to the end of the process, I got two error messages ("Adobe ... encountered an error..." and the program crashed (offered nothing but to close). Fortunately, I had saved the work so when returning, everything seemed to be there as left (with effects).
To bad I did not take time to note the messages (and chosed ''Continue", as an available option).
    1) What is the real use (and difference between this and the simple "save" command) of this "rendering work area" ? (Can I slip over this step ?)
    2) Any know issues I should look for here ?
    Thanks,
    Rob

    See the section
About previewing sequences in the PPro CS3 Help, to understand what rendering the work area does.
Saving simply saves the project information, not the video information.

  • Mov files dont play smoothly even after rendering work area

HI, I have adobe premiere elements 8 and i have some mov files that were recorded on a canon camera and are around 4 gb per 12 minutes of footage.  Ive exported them into premiere to edit and to export out.
I have rendered the work area of an 1 hour of footage in total which took 6 hours and then crashed.  It is blurry and and jittery and so i can't edit the footage.  I tried to export it and as h264 and reduced the bite rate to 7 and it hadn't even got to 1 percentage after 2 hours.  I'm really not sure how to edit this or export it without loosing quality. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    thanks

When you create a new project and import the video, does it have a red line over the timeline?
If yes, your project and video do not match... and it MAY be that whatever is inside that MOV wrapper is not really compatible with version 8

  • Preview Files Suddenly Go Missing, Render Entire Work Area Crashes Premiere, Audio Drops Out

I opened a Premiere Pro project I was working on earlier today and it said it couldn't find the preview files, searching my system found that the files didn't exist.
Rendering my entire work area brings up the "render window" but nothing happens, if I press cancel Premiere freezes.
Started getting a strange situation error ( 26 ::139 ) in After Effects at the same time that Premiere lost the preview files and the crashes started happening. It disallows me from editing any dynamically linked projects. In Premiere the DL's just show up as "Media Pending" clips indefinitely. Importing the compositions in AE into a new project didn't fix the issue either.
The three problems above started happening all at the same time, was working through a color grade using Red Giant software when it started happening.
Also audio drops out on playback randomly in Premiere Pro, tried various audio drivers and hardware, none entirely eliminate this problem. Sometimes the audio will cut out and "burst in" distorted very loudly, which is disturbing, even when my work area is rendered. This problem has been around since I started using PP CC.
I can provide more info soon or if people want more info pls let me know, I'm very tired and I need to get this issue resolved for tomorrow, in the mean time hopefully someone can point out a general fix for these errors or knows a few workarounds. Tried reinstalling PP and AE, no luck.
Computer is a Windows 7, 64-bit. i7 950, 12gb RAM, GeForce GTX 650, programs installed on a separate internal HDD, media files on another internal HDD. But these same issues (minus the audio dropouts) was also cropping up on a core 2 duo 13'' macbook pro.
    Regards,
    Zach

Hi Arjun, thank you for your help.
Though that didn't work either. At least the timeline will playback but as soon as I try to render my work region or export any video Premiere freezes.
I removed all dynamic linked files as well, that didn't seem to change anything.
Something I noticed -- the render bar on the timeline that is usually yellow for edited clips that have no FX on them is all red, nothing is yellow (or green). This is a 4 minute long edit on a music video, nothing extraordinary.
I tried creating a new project and dragging a few clips in and editing them, everything went normally and I could render and export the clips. Just any rendering done on any version of this music video edit I'm working on crashes the program.
Also recently had a problem where I opened the music video project and the song that I imported (.mp3) all of a sudden has no waveform or sound coming from it. Dragging it back into the project doesn't fix it either. Workaround was using a .wav copy of the song.

  • Is there a way to force for rendering ALL clips in work area?

Is there a way to force for rendering ALL clips in work area? All clips: not only the ones with the red horizontal line indicating that they need rendering! I ask for this because the rendered clips preview very smoothly, but the unrendered ones do not! My source footage (and project) involves Full HD (1920*1080i 25fps).

If a Clip does not need Rendering, it will not be Rendered.
Basically, what Rendering does is to convert the Clips, that do require Rendering, to DV-AVI (SD Projects on a PC). This will yield AVI files in the Media Cache, Render Files, and for playback, PrE will rely on those. If you look in the Render File folder, you will see a bunch of abstractly named files, but those files are now Linked in the PREL (Project file), and will be used by the program for playback.
If one were to remove those Render files, and then Open that Project in PrE, they'd receive a message, "Where is file 04u434ip0ow.AVI?" [Note: that is just an example of the abstract Render file name, and is not the actual name, that one would see.]. One could Ignore those now missing Render files, and where they were used, there would then be red lines over those Clips.
As Steve mentions, the Render files are used only for smoothest playback. As I use DV-AVI files for SD Projects on my PC, I will not need to Render for smoothest playback, until I make changes to the Clips, like overlay Titles, PiP, Effects, etc.. I might never Render the Timeline, even with those additions, but sometimes, I will Render a small segment many times, especially with animated Effects, as I adjust the parameters.
If one is not getting the smoothest playback, then Rendering all files requiring Rendering will usually improve playback greatly.
Good luck, and hope that this makes sense.

  • CS6: exporting "range of time markers" without setting in-/out point or defining working area?

    Hi,
in CS6 I defined several "range of time markers" to get a better overview of my project. Now I want to export each range as a single video.
The only way to do this is  creating in-/out points  or setting the working area (what is the English translation for "Arbeitsbereichsleiste" (German)...?)?
Or is it possible to define this selections via the previous created range of time markers? That would be the easiest way...
    Thanks, Carlos

For exporting chunks of the Timeline, I set a Work Area and then export. If you want to export between markers, that would be a feature request: http://www.adobe.com/go/wish

  • CS4: Video moves down after rendering work area

My video is fine before rendering work area, but as soon as it's rendered, it moves down. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Here are some screeenshots.

    After:

  • Pe10: opening a previously saved and rendered project, the work area indicates non-rendered sections

Pe10: when I open a previously saved and rendered project, the work area indicates a majority of non-rendered sections.
When I open a previously saved and rendered project, the work area indicates non-rendered sections. My project is approximately 59 minutes and 27 seconds.
What must be done to have a saved and rendered project, when open again, be rendered?

The price tag of $245 for the Prodad's Mercalli  video software is too steep for me right now.
Corel's Avid VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate (what a mouthful) includes Mercalli SE. It was on sale at half-price on Amazon Black Friday and I missed it - mostly because I was trying to find out what the 'SE' part of it meant.
Annoyingly (very much so) it seems that Mercalli SE is pretty much the whole deal - a YouTube review of the Mercalli feature in VideoStudio by ProDAD (the Mercalli authors) included all the features I would expect to use.
So it seems that the $80 VideoStudio product includes the $150 Mercalli plug-in. Thus a workflow starting with Mercalli stabilisation in VideoStudio and then switching to PRE is viable. I can't really afford the full price VideoStudio product so I'm hoping for a similar 50% reduction after Christmas.

  • Setting the encode work area option

AME CS5.5 trial:  Any idea how to set the "encode work area only" option when importing multiple PP CS5.5 sequences through the standalone AME application, as opposed to exporting through Ctl-M from within PP?
It currently defaults to encoding the entire sequence.  The only way to set to "encode work area only" is to alter the setting of each listed sequence.  Even selecting all listed sequences and trying to change settings en masse will only change the first on the list.
This is contradictory behaviour because it is possible to select all listed sequences and change presets and codecs en masse, but not work area output option.
    Strange.

In our system when i run with BLANK
    All fields which define the

  • Setting sequences to render "work area" as a batch process in AME

I am using the latest version of Creative Cloud (2014.1)
I need to render large amounts of Premiere sequences at a time in AME and I need to render the work area only. How can I change this setting on multiple sequences at the same time to avoid doing it one by one.
    Thanks, Moja.

In CC 2014 the default is to render the sequence in/out. There is no way to change that setting on multiple sources at the same time. What I would recommend is setting the sequence in/out point instead of the work area and then you will get the behavior you desire. You could also submit a feature request for a more flexible solution. The feature request form can be found here: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
