Settings 1080i missing.

I have a 50" Samsung HDTV Plasma (with a DVI connector in the back).
A HDMI-DVI Converter/Hub which I use to attach my AppleTV and Sony PS3.
The PS3 delivers 1080i* to my plasma - and looks much better than 480/720. *(so I know my TV is capable of displaying at that resolution).
Problem is -
ATV only offers me the option of 480i -
Any thoughts on how to find the missing 720i/1080i settings ?
Thanks.

A HDMI-DVI Converter/Hub which I use to attach my AppleTV and Sony PS3.Try by-passing the hub/converter and see if TV "negotiates"/lists all possible settings. If it does, would seem like your hub/converter is the source of you problem. In this case, try "cycling" through the settings manually (see TV manual, page 40, "To select a video mode" option).

Had problems with my broadband going down at weekend, since it came back on unable to join wifi BT say it is because my wifi settings are missing on my iPad can anyone tell me where to find seething details IP address etc

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Upon opening Itunes I get a warning that my registry settings are missing

When I open Itunes I get a warning message that my registry settings are missing. How can I fix this?

    (Apologies for butting in, wha.)
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

  • I keep getting the message that my registry settings are missing for importing and burning cd's and dvd's.  Why?

I keep getting the message that my registry settings are missing for importing and burning cd's and dvd's.  Why?
I've completely uninstalled iTunes per the support instructions and reinstalled.  But I still get the error message each
time I click on the iTunes icon.  I went into iTunes support and searched for registry settings and got an error message 404.
    It was no help.

    Hey JWeaver208,
Thanks for the question, and great troubleshooting so far. If you continue to see this message after uninstalling and re-installing iTunes, you may need to install the device filter in the Windows registry, as outlined in this resource:

  • Restored from IPSW but pics and settings are missing

Used Option+click Restore to restore from a day old IPSW. It seems to have reset the ipod touch and re-synced with apps, videos and music in iTunes, but all settings are missing, including previously completed levels in games, email, wifi settings.... Photos are missing too. Is there any way to get it back?

Right click(or whatever it is for a Mac, option click?) on your iPod on the left side once it's connected to iTunes. There are options to create a backup and restore to a backup.
I personally make a backup after I make several purchases(different from syncing) and also sync to copy my purchases onto my computer.
In my limited experience, as I've only had my iPod touch since February, iTunes has created a backup automatically for me the few times I've upgraded firmware and/or restored my iPod. When I restored I do know that it asks if you want to restore from a backup or restore as a new iPod. As you have already restored as a new iPod you might get lucky if you right click on the iPod in iTunes and revert back to a backup(if there is one and it's recent and has the saved game info etc that you want).
Sorry I wasn't clear or helpful in my previous post. Hopefully this explains things better and clearer.

  • User Settings Suddenly Missing - Help Please

    Greetings!
I have an iMac G5 Rev B running 10.4.2. Yesterday, everything was running fine. I only did some Web surfing and e-mail, didn't install anything. I quit the open programs, logged out, then shut-down the system last night. This morning, it came up okay. I logged into my admin user account, the only account on this system, and noticed my wallpaper had been reset to the system default. Also, the dock was not as I had set it. I reset the wallpaper photo and dock settings, then started Mail. Mail came up as if it had not been run before, wanting to run through the set-up proceedure. I quit it, and began to wonder what had happened. I checked Dashboard, and it only had the default widgets installed, none of the others I've installed in the past.
I've searched the forum, but haven't found a solution yet. I've run MacJanitor and have repaired disk permissions. I've restarted in Safe Mode, but still have the problem. I am not running File Vault. As far as I can tell, I have not changed the name of the home folder (I certainly didn't try to at any time). I only see my home folder and the Shared folder under Users.
I've been using Macs for a few years now, but am still new to troubleshooting them. Not sure what to do. I'm of course hoping to recover my user account and data. I can see the iPhoto and iTunes libraries, but not sure I can see Mail's local mail file, or Safari's bookmarks.
Any advice and guidance will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Gary

To clarify a bit, I haven't opened iPhoto or iTunes, but can see the data files in Finder. The Mail and Safari data files seem to be missing. I opened Safari for the first time to respond to your post (originally posted my support query from my work PC), and as I suspected, my bookmarks are missing. It's as if I'm in a new user account. Very strange indeed! I'm hopeful the good folks here can help me resolve this problem and regain control of my user account and data.
    Thanks!

Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Now, try the settings screen again.

  • I get an alert about the registry settings are missing and to reinstall iTunes.  It did that and still get the warning.  ITunes won't recognize my iPhone as a result.

I get an alert saying "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software.  Please reinstall iTunes."  I reinstalled iTunes, restarted pc, and I checked what other CD/DVD burning software by searching on DVD.  Results: Cyberlink DVD suite deluxe, HP Smartmedia DVD , and Windows DVD Maker, all of which I've had forever.  Should I delete these and try to reinstall iTunes again?  Are there other reasons that this message pops up?

Got the same Pop-up and Apple Sppt told me that UNinstalling Quicktime had fixed this issue in most other cases. I asked IF I had to start over with Uninstalling iTunes, and she answered Yes.
Read my too-long thread (below) that has an Apple Sppt link at the start about Manual Deletes of several Apple Folders/files being a Key to a proper Uninstall / Re-install of iTunes.
Do as much as you want but this is what experience led me to so far. We haven't done it yet since the iPhone Sync'd OK and CD burning is not a priority.

  • Printer Settings dialog missing when printing to another Mac with Bonjour

I want Photoshop to manage my color settings rather than my Epson 4800 or Epson SPRX 580 printers, so in the print dialog box I select the "Printer Color Management" tab and set color adjustments to the OFF position. This works fine as long as the printer is connected directly to my MacBook or my MacBook Pro. But if I try to send a job on my MacBook Pro via bonjour to either of the printers when it is connected to my MacBook, the print dialog is missing the choices of "Printer Color Management", "Printer Settings", etc.
All that is available are things like "Layout, Cover Page, Scheduler, Summary." The "Printer Settings, Color Management" options only show up on either computer when connected directly to the printer.
Is there a way to get those other choices (Printer Settings, Color Management) when printing over a bonjour network?
I'm on Mac OS 10.5.6 on the MacBook Pro and Mac OS 10.4.10 on the MacBook. I have downloaded all the driver updates from Epson and deleted and added the printers again with the same result.

HP must have release a driver update because we no longer encounter the problem.

  • Basic settings tab missing from Develop module

I recently bought lightroom 4 after using the free 30 day trial, and i have no basic settings on my mac, can't find them anywhere? My tabs go from histogram to colour curve. Where are they?
    Very confused..
Message title was edited by: Brett N

No need to be confused, you've probably inadvertently hidden it. The thing is that in every Module, all the individual panels in each of the left and right-hand columns can be optionally shown or hidden under user control (there are few minor exceptions such as the Navigator, but by and large this control is available throughtout Lightroom).
So to bring up the options for each column (in your case the right-hand column of the Develop Module), simply right-click (ctrl-click on Mac) on ANY of the headers that are showing in that column and you'll see a pop-up context menu like the attached screenshot. Here you can see that I've previously hidden the Basic panel, so all I need to do is click on the Basic line and it's restored. Conversely, I can use this method to hide a panel.

  • Settings App missing after iOS7 upgrade

Decided to upgrade (if that is the word) from iOS6 to iOS7 last night on the iPad2 and have a number of issues but the main one if that the Setting App (icon) does not seem to be visible anywhere. Has anyone had a similar problem after upgrading to iOS7?
I haven't done a hard reset as has been suggested (I am at work and don't have the iPad here with me) but anything else that can be suggested including how to rollback to iOS6 would be appreciated. One thing that I though may have contributed to this is the in iOS6 the settings icon was in a folder called "Entertainment" (one of the kids may have moved it there) so is it possible that it got lost due to being in a folder.
Any help would be most welcome and greatly appreciated.

This is my problem I don't have this icon so it is going to be difficult to try the solution ie. general-reset-reset home screen layout
