Settings: firefox will not accept easy hideIP. cannot get firefox proxy settings changed.

easyhideIP will not be accepted by firefox and the prosxy settings of firefox will not change. They are set to auto accept but that does not work, the reload feature does not work. I have uninstalled firefox and reinstalled and the problem persists. I have no problem with IE 8.

If you aren't able to connect in Firefox, but can connect with other programs, the most common cause is a firewall. See [[Firewalls]] for instructions on configuring firewalls. (Make sure you configure all firewalls that are installed)
Another possibility is that you are in offline mode. Make sure "Work offline" in the File menu is ''unchecked''.
For other causes, see [[Error loading web sites]]

  • Firefox will not accept my email address.

Whenever I am prompted to enter my email address Frefox will not accept it.

Did you try Firefox's Safe Mode? If it goes away with add-ons disabled, then one of your add-ons is the problem.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [ Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, try starting Firefox in Firefox
[ Safe Mode]. Be careful not to "reset" anything permanently if you didn't back up.
    Does that fix it?

  • Firefox will not install. I keep getting a message that I have to restart my computer in order for updates to a previous version can be installed.

Every time I restart the computer and try to install firefox the same message keeps appearing. I attempted to uninstall the earlier version of firefox using "programs and features" in windows but the same message came up and thus I was unable to uninstall using that method. I have used a third party uninstall program which appeared to delete all traces of firefox including registry entries but I still have the same problem.
I am now in the position of not being able to load any version of firefox. HELP

  • Firefox will not open now - I just updated my privacy settings, and cleared cookies - what happened?

I changed the privacy settings on Firefox preferences, including clearing cookies, history and cache, and now Firefox will not open at all. It said it had to restart after one of the privacy changes, but it didn't and now won't open by the dock icon or thru applications. What happened, and how can I correct the issue to start using Firefox again? Thanks.

    Hi jonbeme,
Thank you for your question. I understand after you reset Firefox, that Firefox will not open up on one of the accounts on this computer.
This is what happens when Firefox is Reset [].
To test to see if the problem is the profile, use the Profile Manager to create a new profile. [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]] If the problem goes away, you can then move your bookmarks and other important settings into the new profile.

  • Firefox will not open at all, keep getting error message with last 2 saved web pages on it

Yesterday, I closed Firefox. I had multiple tabs opened, so it asked me if I wanted to save them. I clicked YES and closed Firefox.
I had Google Docs open at the time.
Now, when I open up Firefox, everytime, it tries to load the 2 saved pages, then gives me an error message saying that Windows will try to find the solution to why it can't open.
I cannot use Firefox at all now.
    How can I fix this?
I have re-installed Firefox completely and it does not work, it remembers my settings.

  • Since getting version 22 (release update channel) I had a few days with very large text; today, Firefox will not start. How to get it running again???

I've searched for an .exe file in Firefox program files, but there doesn't seem to be one anywhere. I'd like to uninstall, download a new program and reinstall, but I'd rather not lose bookmarks and other settings.
Running Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio laptop. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox, you WILL NOT lose any bookmarks, history, and settings. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [ Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!

  • Please help - Firefox will not open. library - applications - and no firefox is listed to get to my profile manager. . What's next?

firefox has been running slower. When this happens I'll reboot my computer and this speeds up firefox. When I restarted the computer firefox would not open. Just the spinning wheel with no access to the tools.
After I force quit - it says ignore or notify/report to apple. I tried sending a report, and it ques up the box with details, system config, etc... but when I click on send - it will not let me send one - I've never been unable to send a report before.
I uninstalled, then reinstalled. Upon opening I get the spinning wheel and nothing happens - I need to force quit. I see on this mozilla help site that I need to update my profile manager. I followed these instructions - Finding your profile without opening Firefox Open Finder and go to your home folder. Note: your home folder is usually the name of your Mac user account From your home folder open /Library/, then /Application Support/, then /Firefox/, then /Profiles/. Your profile folder is within this folder. but when I got to library - application support - there is no firefox listed.

You can do a disk check with the chkdsk.exe program.
If you run the chkdsk.exe program from a cmd.exe Command window then you can read the response from the chkdsk.exe program.
    Open a cmd.exe window:<br />
    Start &gt; Run: cmd.exe &lt;press Enter&gt;
    At the command prompt (>) type or Copy&Paste: chkdsk.exe /f /r &lt;press Enter&gt; (put a space before /f and /r)
If you get something like: Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts? y/n then answer the question with "Y" and close all programs and reboot the computer.
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Firefox will not start because "A copy of Firefox is already open. Only one copy of Firefox can be open at a time".

I had a major crash of Firefox - maybe virus or malware. I think computer is clean now. I deleted all Mozilla/Firefox files I could find and re-install Firefox. Will not run in safe mode (same error).
    Since I deleted Firefox/Mozilla files, I can not supply crash information/logs :(
It runs fine on another computer on my network, this MacBookPro, same OSX and version of Firefox.
    Profile Manager?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
