Settings For Adding Photos To Organiser - Elements 6

Hi folks,
I'm having a little trouble with adding photos to my organiser in Adobe Elemeents 6. What I want to be able to do is just to open the organiser and add the photos manually as per my own selection from my "My Pictures" folder.
What is happening is that I select the photos in My Pictures BUT when I go to the untagged photos it's actually pulled through the thumbnalis from the folder I originally held them when I was editing before I copied and pasted them to My Pictures.
Any thoughts on how I get to able to just retrieve manually from one place?
Thanks
Ian

Thanks for your reply.
Ok, i've tried a little test and what appears to be happening is this. When I download the images from my camera do not want to put them straight into "My Pictures". I download them to a different location first so that I can edit etc before I finally tranfer to "My Pictures". What appears to be happening is that the Organiser is locating them in both of the seperate files and taking a thumbnail from both. I'm ending up with two thumbnails per image. I know I can delete one of each every time but if I put loads of photos in it's a bit annoying.
I'm not using the Adobe photo download software to obtain my pictures from my cards, just the normal Microsoft Scanner/Card Reader software but I do not think this is the issue anyway.
Any ideas please?

  • Book - best settings for best photo quality

What are the best settings for my photos in order to get the best quality book?
    Thanks
    Zasa

    zasa:
Use the largest file, pixel wise, that you can. The books are printed at 300 dpi so the largest size the better to insure you'll get as close to that dpi for the largest page picture possible.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Best settings for saving photos to help reduce duplicating pictures and clogging my storage

Hi Everyone, i have finally bought myself an imac and loving it already.
The support community has been great as I have founds alot of useful info that has helped me in the set up of my new imac.
but I have found a problem i never knew i had....
The problem which was highlighted after migrating my PC files over to the imac was the number of photos i had. it was a ridiculus amount. When i looked into it, it turns out many were duplicated, and even in triplicates.
I don't have any particular settings set up, i just always connected an automatically saved on my PC.
It will take me a while to review and delete the duplicates, i just want to ensure going forward that I don't continue to do the same, and i am hoping someone can help point out the right set up (settings) I should be looking at.
I will be looking to save photos from the following devices:
Canon EOS 550 - which i sometimes save photos direct onto my IPAD as well as saving to my PC (now my Imac)
    Ipad - photos and videos
    iphone - photos and video
I am probably not utlizing the icloud properly but I am sure there is an easier way to just get my devices saving the new photos and avoiding duplicating.
    Any recommendations?

Hi Terence, yes it does. i just finished reading your post regarding iphoto and file saving.
i have quite alot of photos i migrated over, I have just sent the imported (it is still importing) the whole folder into iphoto.
it has already highlighted duplicates and i have clicked the do not import for duplicates now. the product i have is that there will still be duplicates in the original folder due to various sub folders. ( i know this is such a newbie thing to do).
i was thinking just move all photos out of the sub folders in one big foldered but didn't want to loss date info. ie when the photo was taking as i couldn't see any other dates attached to the file except for date added, date last used etc which all showed the date i migrated the photo.

  • Can I print a contact sheet that includes the caption for each photo using Photoshop Elements 13 for Mac. I previously used Photoshop Elements 6 for the PC and could do this.

I just switched to a Mac and installed Photoshop Elements 13. I previously worked with many years with Photoshop Elements 6 on a PC where I used the contact sheet function -- with each's photo's caption included -- to print print a collection of 400+ member photos for a club I belong to. This worked beautifully. I assumed I'd still have this ability with my new software, but can't figure out how to do it. Help.

Try using psd.  Some rerports indicate some confustion between the apps with TIFF.  See:

I cannot confirm, nor test, since I use PS CS5, and not Elements.

  • Best export settings for SVHS video from Premiere Elements 12

    Hi
when I view my SVHS video on screen via premiere elements 12 the quality looks very good. However, when I edit the video and save, the quality is quite poor.
I need to know what is the best settings to save my video. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you Tom

    TD
I have some questions to ask and some suggestions to make for your consideration after you have concluded your discussions with SG.
    1. Am I assuming correctly that you used a firewire connection for your ADVC-55 capture? And, if so, what did you capture into - Premiere Elements 12 Capture Windows to give you DV AVI Type 2? In the gspot readout (to the left of the dialog), what does it say about the Container.
    2. Assuming that you have DV AVI Type 2 (4:3) files saved to your computer hard drive, have you tried
For DVD-VIDEO PAL Standard Format on DVD disc
    a. Open Premiere Elements 12 new project to Expert workspace, File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings....Change project preset to PAL DV Standard....before leaving that area, making sure you have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project".
    b. Then back in the Premiere Elements 12 workspace, Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag you DV AVI to the Timeline.
    c. After edits and maybe menu application,
    Publish+Share/Disc/DVD burn to disc
check mark next to "Fit Content to Available Space"
    Preset = PAL Dolby DVD
Before hitting Burn in the burn dialog, note what the readings are in the burn dialog for Space Required and Bitrate. If the Bitrate is 8.00 Mbps at that point, that is good. More on that later.
    For Export To File (AVCHD.mp4)
If you want to export, your Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive, please consider
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    MP4 - PAL DV Standard
If your details are other than that which I assumed, please let us know.
We will be watching for further discussions and results.
    Thank you.

  • Privacy settings for my photos aren't working.

Whenever I want to send a picture on facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. It always tells me to enable the app to use photos through settings > privacy > photos. Now whenever I go to settings > privacy > photos, it never shows me the app to enable it, and I don't know what to do. I never had this problem before.

if its on the phone then just scroll down till you see it if you still dont then hard reset the iphone, hold down both home and power button untill apple logo shows and retry if that does not work go into settings general and reset then click reset all settings and go back and check it at that point if its still not working you will need to connect to itunes and restore the ios sw on the iphone

  • Separate Import settings for video & photos

I apprecate LR3's ability to import video files & manage their metadata. I find myself taking more & more video mixed in with my regular photos - usually on the same memory card. Unfortunately, I store video in a different location from photos.  Would be nice if there was a simple way to distinguish video from photos within Import.
I can easily choose the correct destination drive/folders from the "Recent" drop-down list, but I have to first manually select/deselect just the photos or just the videos. Ideally, I could just set separate default destinations for photos & video separately, so it all happens automatically every time. But even just having some way to select only Photos, or only Videos, in Import would make things a lot quicker.
Is there some simple trick I've missed?  Thanks!

Thanks - that's a good workaround, which allows for moving the files to their final destination after import.
This is really a feature request, I guess - so I posted one in the Feature Request forum.  My request is really a special case of having better filter/selection criteria in the Import dialog. But since Video clips can't actually be edited in Lightroom, they usually have their own unique workflow - separate from still photos - which in my case includes different storage location, different backup strategy, etc.

  • Correct settings for adding Exchange account in Mail

I have successfully added an exchange account to my iPhone. However, to add the same account to Mail there different, additional settings that I cannot seem to get right.
the details I entered into my phone are as follows (please excuse the xxx's but I thought it best not to publish the full details of how to access my server!)
    server: arexxx1.axxxring.com
    domain: axxxring.local
    username: daniel
    password: xxxxxx
the settings that are required to add an exchange account to mail are:
    incoming mail server
    username
    password
    outlook web access server
    outgoing mail server
can anyone advise me how the settings I entered into my iphone might apply to the fields in Mail or if it is even possible.
    I am using os x 10.5.8 and exchange 2003.
    Many thanks

Obviously you know your username and password so all you should require is the incoming and outgoing mail server addresses which you can obtain from the domain IT people who provide the Exchange account. I am not sure what the outlook web access server address is, but your IT people should know.

  • How to have the same adjustment settings for each photo?

    Hi all,
Can anyone shed any light on this? When I click on a photo and I want to sharpen, noise reduce etc, I have to select these parameters to appear, I do the adjustments and then click on the next photo....
Now, I want to do DIFFERENT adjustments BUT use sharpen, noise reduction again, and it does not remember this, so I have to select these again... very annoying.
So, can I make sure that the same adjustment panels appear each and every time I click on the photo?? Hope this is clear!!
    Many thanks!

  • Looking for a Photo App recommendation.

I am looking for a site forum or where I can ask to see if this type of Photo Editing App exists?
I need one that can paste one photo on top of another, or similar?
More or less, a pic in a pic type.
I have tried some collage apps yet they only place them side by side of course, any ideas or somewhere I can inquire?

  • Copy after to before for multiple photos?

Frequently I forget to update the 'after' adjustments to the 'before' adjustments for photos I visit. Is there a way to perform 'copy after settings to before settings' for selected photos. It would save me having to manually visit each one by one. My intent is then to save the settings back to the file (for all the selected photos).
    Thanks.

Hi All -- I'm going to ask this question again as the issue continues to vex me.
I'm now using LR 2.2. The changes flushed to a image file (I use DNG) reflect the current 'before settings' in the develop module. In order to get recent develop module changes into the image file, one has to first execute "Copy After's Settings to Before", then save the image settings (cmd-S). That seems totally reasonable.
Here's my problem. I visit lots of images making edits. I don't always remember to "Copy After's Settings to Before" after making edits. In order to determine which image's I've made changes to I step through all my images in the develop module using the before/after view, executing "Copy After's Settings to Before". This is a big hassle. I need a better approach. First I don't always know which images I've edited and I usually don't care anyway. What I want is a macro that will perform "Copy After's Settings to Before" for multiple images. Is there such a feature or is this missing from LR?

  • I have set up my photos in Adobe Elements 12 organiser and wish to download them to Snapfish in order to create a photobook, but it seems I am unable to do this.  Adobe do not provide a hardcopy photobook service

I have set up my photos in Adobe Elements 12 organiser and wish to download them to Snapfish in order to create a photobook, but it seems I am unable to do this.  Adobe do not provide a hardcopy photobook service.  Can anyone help me please?  I don't want to have to reformat all my photos.  It has taken me the whole week to do it in Adobe Elements.  I was unaware that Adobe no longer have this service as it misleadingly appears that they do.

You are in the wrong forum.  We don't do Elements here.
This is the Photoshop proper forum.  There's no "Organizer" (American spelling) in Photoshop.
    The "Elements" forum is here:
Community: Photoshop Elements | Adobe Community
Incidentally you are not addressing Adobe here.
I've been using Adobe products for very, very close to 30 years, and I have never hear of an "Adobe photo book service".

  • ITunes looses photo sync settings for Apple TV (1st gen.)

Since the update to the new Photo app on my Mac, iTunes forgets the photo sync settings for my Apple TV (1st. generation, 160 GB HDD).
Every time I open the photo section of the Apple TV sync settings, all the options are turned off. Then I mark a couple of albums and sync the Apple TV >> all album appear on the Apple TV.
But after closing and re-opening iTunes in the photo settings everything is unmarked again. So on every following sync the photos on the Apple TV are easily erased :-( Resync them to the Apple TV takes hours (>30'000 photos!).
All the other sync settings in iTunes remain intact.
    Environment:
    - MacBook Pro Retina 15" with the latest SW (Mac OS, iTunes, Photo App, etc.)
    - Apple TV 1st gen 160 GB HDD

Restarting iTunes resolves the issue in the majority of cases, if it doesn't my second guess would be your security software.
What really seems strange here is that there have been no updates since well before Xmas, so after initially setting it up, the first update would have brought you right up to the most recent (and indeed the very last) .
Agh, how silly of me, I see it's iTunes you have updated.
If that's about all you've changed, you might want to try reinstalling iTunes and bonjour.

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8.  The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma.  This one tells you what your camera needs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html   This one tells you what version of software you need:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6.  (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13.   Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter.  Download and install it from here for FREE:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890  Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use.  That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom.  DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless.  There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.
